Our cottage “Donguri” is a reservation-only large log house, located in a residential area near Yoshimine Onsen (hot spring) in Tateyama Town. From the large windows you can view the expansive vista of the Toyama Plain. The cottage is in an ideal location close to Tateyama Alpine Village that is recommended for guests who want to enjoy the excellent local mountaineering and skiing trails as well as general travelers to the Hokuriku area.We hope you will have an enjoyable stay at Donguri Cottage!
“This stay is a trip with family of 3 generations (grandparents, parents and 1 kid). I do not know how the host looks like as I did not meet him. The cottage is good for family visit, team or friends building with all the needed amenity to to have party, cook at home etc. There are more you can do again depending on your purposes, seasons, and companions. You need to have a car to go to the cottage. Nearby attraction is depending on age groups, or the objective of the stays which can be limited. There are activities depending on seasons as well. It is a very good few days escape from city though. I was expecting snow during my trip on 25-28Jan, but was a warm winter so we could not see snow. It would be great if we can do BBQ outside the house at the garden. I may consider next trip to this house with other purposes.”

“Good place to stay in Toyama. Great experience of staying in a local Japanese house. A convenient walk from the station as well. Shinzi is a great responsive host and the little touches around the house are gems to be discovered! The corridors abd bathroom are not heated centrally, but there are electric heaters.”
If you come from overseas, I will take you around. I've got maps, where to go info, and English speaker as well.
“This is a unique space in a great location in downtown Toyama. Atsuo is very friendly and communicative. His space is a wonderful example of the kind of beauty that traditionally-designed Japanese spaces have to offer, with exposed wooden beams and finished wood floors. His bar on the first floor is an excellent place to relax after a long day and to enjoy dinner or snacks over some excellent drinks. He offers local brews on tap along with a number of local dishes and other drinks, including a variety of sake. For international travelers, you'll be happy to know that Atsuo's English is excellent, both written and spoken. He was very responsive to questions prior to and throughout the stay. A few things you should know about the space in advance is that the room is on the 3rd floor, up relatively steep Japanese-style steps. There is one toilet on the 1st floor in the bar space, so you likely won't want to go to the bathroom in your pyjamas during business hours (6pm to 3am on weekends, 6pm to midnight on weekdays except Wednesdays). There wasn't a lock on the 3rd floor room door, so if this is something that bothers you, you may want to keep it in mind. That said, Atsuo's space represents excellent value for money; it's a comfortable place to stay in downtown Toyama in a space that is newly, and tastefully, renovated. You'll also have a friendly, supportive host who can help you to make the most of your visit to Toyama.”
