A former inn on a hill in Wakayama, with the remains of an old castle, Shirahama, and the Kumano Kodo for walking. Up to 5 people. Spacious, barrier-free toilet and bath

Founded in 1957, my grandfather, Eiichi Tanuchi, ran an inn called Aiwasho for the cultural development of Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture. In order to continue to protect its history and traditions, his granddaughter, Kiushuko, reopened the inn under its original name in 2021. Built on the site of Ueno Castle, this inn is a traditional Japanese house with tatami mats on the floor. Please relax in one of the two Japanese-style rooms. The inn is located on a hill overlooking the city of Tanabe, so you can enjoy the morning sun, sunset, and night view. On a calm day, we recommend having tea in a wicker chair on the edge of the hinoki cypress wooden deck, which was made in the image of the moon viewing platform of the Katsura Imperial Villa. The newly installed bath and toilet are spacious and barrier-free, so you can bathe together or use them easily even if you need assistance. We installed popin.aladdin (lighting with projector) in one of the Japanese-style rooms. It projects on the sliding doors You can watch TV, music, movies, etc. Enjoy BGM on YouTube before you go out in the morning. My parents, Kisaku and Shuko Tanai (Japanese), live next to the house, so please let me know if you need anything.

Stay at Ryunohara Hatago, a 120-year-old farmhouse blending tradition with comfort in Japan’s spiritual heartlands. In the Edo period, Hatagos were small inns where weary travellers could recuperate.
