“DOG FRIENDLY - GREAT LOCATION - SUPERB HOST :) We had a fantastic long weekend in Marys. The cottage is spotless, cute and really cosy. Well equipped with a fire all set up and ready to go. Cannot fault the place. Mary is an excellent host. Great communication and easy check in and there were scones and jam waiting for us on arrival, which were very much appreciated :) The location is second to none. You get the lovely country feel of an Irish cottage while being just a 15 minute walk from the village. There you'll find pubs (we asked nicely and we were able to bring our dog into Healys pub for the night), shops and Marys very own country cafe were we had a delicious breakfast and dinner (seats outside and a beautiful garden area meant we could bring the dog along to the cafe as well). From the cottage you can walk to the beach and Down Patrick or a 5 minute drive will get you there. We did a bit of exploring and picked cockles at Ross Port and had a long stroll on Lacken Strand. Great cottage and village for dogs and Mary makes a fantastic host and a delicious apple pie ;) Thanks again.”
Located just a 5 min walk from Portacloy beach there's also a local shop a 5 min drive or 30 min walk in a nearby village. Also two pubs in the area one in Rossport and the other in Stonefield. There's a restaurant open during the week called Teach Grainne which is also a take away during the weekend. Nearest town of Belmullet is a 30 min drive.
“We arrived to the most beautiful location and our breaths were taken away as we drove around the corner, surrounded by the wild vast scenery! Just amazing. The cottage was homely. Mary's kindness, included having the fire lit, provisions, details on the fridge with numbers for take out, post office and shop etc. Cottage was spotless. Comfortable too. It's the wilderness in comparison to our every day life and just what the doctor ordered. Can't wait for the next little retreat.”
A tastefully restored historic cottage from the 1700s, located just off the Kilcummin Backstrand beach. Perfect for surfing, relaxing, or walking to the pub for a pint. The cottage offers modern amenities with traditional style, and an enclosed backyard space for storing bicycles or surfboards safely. The ideal headquarters for your North Mayo adventures!
“This place is amazing! The hosts have done an excellent job restoring the cottage. Everything was perfect from the lovely decor to the amenities provided. Upon our arrival, Elizabeth had the fire lit and the electric blanket on for us. She was so hospitable and warm. The cottage is equipped with everything you would need. The white linens in the bedrooms and the fluffy, white towels in the bathrooms gave the cottage such a luxurious feel. Not to mention they actually smelled fresh and clean. Everything in the cottage was clean as well. We had the most relaxing and peaceful time there. Although it is close to other homes, it definitely is private. We enjoyed our walks to the beach and the sculpture trail. The area is just breathtaking. You would not regret staying at this cottage. We will definitely be back!”
