“This place is just stunning. The pictures do not do it justice. It is idyllic, so tranquil and peaceful and the setting is beautiful. Everything about the barn just oozes character. It is so quaint and relaxing. Beautifully positioned on Lough Swilly. We could see the waves crashing against the pier at night from the sitting room with a roaring fire beside us (which was already lit for us on arrival!! - such a nice touch). We were never wanting for anything and we got extra coal for the fire whenever needed. We also had a visitor for breakfast one of the mornings :) The lovely dog came up to say hi. She is a darling and very friendly and docile. Can highly recommend this gem to anyone. One of the most unique accommodations I’ve stayed in.”
Situated in the picturesque, Lough Swilly, this apartment sits on the edge of Fahan beach, with fantastic views of the Marina and Inch Island. It possesses its very own private pathway to the beach. It is only a 5 to 10 minute walk from very famous pubs/restaurants, such as the Firebox Grill/Railway Tavern and the Red Door as well as Lisfannon Golf Course. The Inishowen Gateway Hotel is a short drive away and the apartment is located only 10 minutes drive from Derry City.
“Rhona's space is exactly as described. The view is beautiful. We found everything clean, the shower was great and the space heating was also working perfectly. In the kitchen we found everything we needed to prepare our meal. The place offers a washing machine, but it is necessary to bring your own soap. We had an inconvenience with the wifi password (which is not written in the space is only provided on the day of check in via message), because on the day of check in, we spent all day on the road, so we had no internet to check e-mails and messages and so we are left without the wifi password. So, if you are going to be without internet on the day, I advise you to ask for the password first. Besides, everything was great.”
Downtime Cottage is a stones throw from Malin Head, Secluded, picturesque and steeped in rural rustic charm. Rolling hills and gorgeous Inishowen on your doorstep. Step outside & gaze at the Stars. sometimes spot the Aurora Borealis, and even visit the location of the LAST JEDI movie. If peace and tranquility and the freshest air are your thing, then I guarantee you wont want to leave!
“If you are staying near Buncrana, I cannot recommend Jaime’s cottage enough! It really is a secluded retreat. If you are high maintenance and looking for modern conveniences, this place probably won’t be for you. But if you are looking for an escape that lets you step back in time, this is perfect. Be sure to download directions to your phone before you head up and definitely try to arrive in the daylight. We arrived at sundown and it was a little more challenging to find. Also, just so you know, this cottage is tucked away down a private lane beyond a handful of other houses and farms. So you might feel as though you’re “trespassing” on your way back there. Rest assured, you’re in the right track! The cottage was comfortable and homey. We had a few minor issues beyond anyone’s control, but Jaime was communicative, prompt, and very helpful. The space was also surprisingly clean for being an old cottage. Yes, there was some dust but that’s totally to be expected. Jaime’s local tips were also very helpful and much appreciated. I really can’t say enough for how welcome and taken care of we felt. So, turn off your phones, light a fire, and enjoy the old world charm of Downtime Cottage”
