Beautiful & unique hand-built straw bale studio overlooking open countryside. Great transport links to Canterbury’s historic centre & nearby beaches. Garden location with secluded patio for al fresco dining is an ideal relaxing retreat for couples.
“My girlfriend and I had such an incredible stay with Sally and Chris. The communication before the trip was great and we were warmly welcomed by Sally on arrival. The Straw Bale Studio itself is amazing. Despite it being a cold, rainy couple of days in November it was so warm and cosy inside. There were a lot of nice touches and Sally gave us some good local tips including a lovely cafe a short walk away. The place is a 2 minute walk to the train station (we rarely heard trains go past) and then a 5 minute train journey into Canterbury. Don't be put off by the compost toilet - it certainly adds to the experience! We can't wait to stay again.”
A warm and quiet room, seperate from the main house, with own entrance. There is access to the house for ablutions. In the garden there is a seating area which you are able to use, have a BBQ or just relax. Washing machine and dryer. There is also an outside tap to clean off muddy boots etc. If it is a warm day, please dry clothes outside, think about the environment. On entering the house you are in the kitchen, make yourself tea/coffee.
“If you are looking for a good-looking, friendly, caring, kind and humourous host, Mick is definitely the one you are looking for. Every corner of his house is tidy, neat and clean becauae he tidies up the whole place frequently. Mick is very sporty so sometimes he will ask you to go for a walk around Canterbury if you want to. By having walked with Mick around Littlebourne, I got the chance to explore and know more about Littlebourne history. Such valuable experiences I got from Mick! Highly recommend!”
No Cleaning Fees! Colourful room with large desk, comfy chair and single bed, overlooking wooded area. The cottage, built 1733, has not been overly modernised, but has central heating, modern shower/wetroom, and Wifi - and a very friendly Jack Russell! Due to steps and stairs, not suitable for people with limited mobility. Please note there's only one parking space (on my neighbours' drive), but there's a layby 100 m from the house. Bus stop about 300 m away. Ideal base to explore East Kent.
“Heather’s place is a gem. My stay was very short, but I think everything I have to say applies to a longer visits. Her location is very near Canterbury and would be a good jumping off point for Dover or other Kent activities. Comfortable, character-rich and quintessential English cottage life. I felt very welcome and my brief stay really recharged my batteries! Heather is a warm and welcoming person wth detailed knowledge of history and the locale, she’s a wealth of wisdom. Would stay again!!”
