Binks Cottage, a cosy rural retreat

SallyRating, 5 stars13 months ago
My sister and I really enjoyed staying in Binks cottage. Amanda and her family made us feel very welcome and we were able to see the lambs in the barn and learn about their care. The cottage is exceptionally comfortable and had everything we wanted. Excellent place to stay. Thankyou!

Village property - Wayside Cottage DH8 9NL

PennyRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Spacious and comfortable cottage ideal for a couple in a pretty village by the moors. We enjoyed visiting the surroundings including the city of Durham and Beamish Open Air Museum as well as castles and countryside. On street parking was no problem as we always parked in front of the cottage.

Host & Stay | The Red Brick Barn

CharlieRating, 5 stars4 months ago
Absolutely beautiful area, very private with stunning views! Waking up to rabbits chasing each other just outside the window was lovely, let alone the friendly sheep or the birds that live there. Make sure to bring a torch as it gets very dark at night! Was thrown off by not having a tv but the log burner made up for it by creating such a comfortable and relaxed space. Left here with a very clear head and a very happy dog Massively recommend this place

Wonderful place, as Bev says - the place gives you a warm hug. Relaxing, quiet, and perfect rest for us and our anxious rescue dog! Lovely being near the river, lots of birds and wildlife nearby. Felt right at home and hope to return again soon!

Garden Cottage in tranquil North Pennine valley

PaulRating, 5 stars1 week ago
A delightful cottage within the beautiful grounds of a Victorian house. Walking on the fells is wonderful, we saw lapwings and curlews. The house is well placed for exploring: we visited the Japanese cherry blossom orchard at Alnwick Castle, the narrow gauge railway from Alston, and Vindolanda. There are large groups of archeologists at the Roman Army Museum and the Fort who willingly talked about their work (April to September). There are two great Indian restaurants in Hexham and the food (and friendly staff) at Allenhead visitor centre was very welcome. We loved Peter's cottage and highly recommend it.

7 Front Street

BeckyRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
A beautiful cottage set in a peaceful village. The cottage is full of quirky furniture and features and is so characterful. Lovely views from front and back of the dale and it was really nice having the horse out the back, he even came to visit us one evening! We were staying in the cottage to celebrate my sister's 50th birthday and the wonderful accommodation and setting really contributed to what was a lovely break. I'd recommend a walk along the Wear to Westgate where a visit to Slitt Woods is a must for nature and history lovers! Be sure to download the information leaflet from the North Pennines website with lots of interesting information on it. I'd also recommend a walk round Tunstall Reservoir. We walked down to the pub in St John's Chapel one evening too for a meal. Food was the usual pub grub but very tasty and the staff were very friendly. Only slight issue, parking was a bit tight outside the cottage but there's plenty of space on the quiet side roads to park.

SamRating, 5 stars35 months ago
Meeting Gill and Niel was such a pleasure, they made us feel really welcomed upon arrival. Woodside Lodge is beautiful with gorgeous views and had everything we wished for to relax and unwind during our stay, we loved the homemade scones and Gill even let me take away the flowers she'd arranged before I departed. Thank you for having us, we'll definitely be back again soon.

It was our first time booking through air bnb and we couldn’t be happier. Fiona’s shepherd’s hut was everything we needed and we cannot wait to come back. Very tranquil area with plenty of walks, Richmond is worth a visit as is Middleton Lodge Estate. Fiona is a lovely host and has done a stunning job with this place. Would definitely consider coming here. Thanks Fiona!

Howee Inn, provides cosy stay in beautiful area

RachaelRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We had a wonderful stay at Howee Inn. It’s small but perfectly formed and had everything we needed for one night. Pamela was really friendly and provided clear instructions and made sure we had everything we needed. We were left bread, milk, eggs and butter which was a lovely touch that we enjoyed for breakfast. The local area is lovely too, and we would recommend the local pub for dinner.

Beautiful 3 bedroom/3 bath Cottage with log burner

SuzanneRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Myself and 2 friends stayed for the weekend with 3 dogs and it was a great place for us. Lovely peaceful village with plenty of walks nearby. The cottage is spacious and well equipped and Laura was a really responsive and helpful host. Turning the TV was a little challenging but Laura sent us videos which were really helpful and don’t think we would have cracked it without them! We ate in the local pub (Bay Horse) and really enjoyed the food. Highly recommend the cottage.

Stay Northside- 18thC in Co.Durham Village NO FEES

KevinRating, 5 stars3 days ago
Loved the cottage. On the area: - fabulous local pub doing great food a literally a stone throws away - a ton of stuff to do within driving distance. We have a 3 & a 6 year old and we didn't scratch the surface of what there was in our 2 days. The local train museum (which is free) kept both our kids entertained for half a day alone - outstanding. Kimberley as a host was extremely responsive and her and Gary have very clearly put a lot of thought into the cottage - so many thoughtful touches! Wouldn't want to ruin it but as an example Kimberley even put out some age appropriate books for our kids along with some torches for some lights off reading by their beds. We'll definitely book again next time we're in the area

Countryside home in County Durham

MickRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We came back to Jane's place as we had such a lovely break here last year and we were not disappointed. The mill is lovely, Jane and family have it at a very high standard, it is always clean and feels really homely. Jane had, again, left us eggs, milk, tea, coffee etc and some lovely rocky road for our arrival. The mill is ideally situated for discovering the surroinding area, we revisited Beamish museum, went to Tanfield railway, Angel of the North, Newcastle quayside, Ushaw house and gardens, Prince Bishops Palace, Raby and Brancepeth castles and some lovely walks too. we highly recommend Jane's place to anyone who wants a peaceful retreat or a great base for exploring the area.

Bluebell Cottage - Rural 2-Bedroom w/ Free Parking

AbbyRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
If you're looking for a relaxing, off-the-grid holiday, this is the perfect place to stay! Patrick and his family are warm, welcoming hosts, and we were lucky enough to see baby lambs during our visit. Patrick also took the time to chat with us about his home and farm, which made the experience even more special. The accommodation is clean, modern, and spacious—with absolutely stunning views in every direction. And if you love walking, you're in for a treat—there are endless scenic walks to explore. Highly recommend! We will be back!!

Railway Wagon

AmyRating, 5 stars35 months ago
Myself, my boyfriend and our dog loved staying in the railway cabin. It was a beautiful location with a beautiful, comfortable cabin with everything you could need for self catering. Lots of good walks, mtb trails, pubs and cafes in the local area. The hosts were so lovely and accomodating and added a really personal touch to our stay. On the last day, we had lunch in the cafe on sight which was delicious. We would recommend to anyone and would definitely stay again!

Entire House- 3 bed countryside cottage Unique

PattyRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Really lovely and peaceful setting with the most gorgeous views from the garden. My dogs loved to mooch around the garden. The house was extremely well equipped with many details like some goodies left by the Scott. I had a couple of queries at the beginning and he was great at responding immediately and answering my questions. Very homely , traditional house. I would definitely go back.

Chapel-on-the-Hill

ShireenRating, 5 stars4 days ago
Five of us stayed as a group of friends on a weekend break away from Leeds. The Chapel is absolutely stunning and in a stunning location. Photos attached are views from the windows. It is so peaceful and a complete escape from a city. Many of us were planning to come back with families as we sat there on the first evening. The amenities are modern and the conversion is tastefully done. There is everything you need including plenty of bags of ice (every group of guests must pick one up on the way!). We felt incredibly relaxed there and the basics such as heating, water pressure, linens were all fantastic. The welcome basic was lovely and before arrival the host sent us a very detailed and insightful email of instructions and recommendations. We all loved our stay and being experienced AirBnB customers with other groups, we concluded this was one of the best stays we have had. Highly recommend for a very fair price!

A pretty, rambling cottage with large garde - Stab

SimonRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Helens place is situated in the heart of Northumberland country side and is quite a romantic place to stay in. If you want to be situated in idyllic country side then this is the place for you. What crossed my mind was the history of the place and how lucky we are to be able to share these rare historic country farm steads. Go on book it and you won't regret it. First time for us to stay there as a family. Thanks Helen for sharing your beautiful property. Simon
