“Myself and my husband had a great stay here for the weekend. Drinks in the fridge and some home baked goodies which was such a lovely touch. I had forgotten my make up bag and Ruth very kindly let me use some of hers. Which I couldn’t believe. We stayed in the middle of November and I was worried that we might be cold, but couldn’t of been more wrong. The place was so cosy and warm with an amazing shower. Can’t wait for our next stay here. Views around the property were simply stunning. Thanks for everything Ruth.”
Solas (Irish for light) is a modern large home, situated at the tip of the Hook Peninsula where the sunsets are legendary. It is beside the oldest operational lighthouse in Europe. It has panoramic sea views from the upstairs living room. My home is shared with my dog Rufus. This area is very popular with photographers, artists, bird watchers, fishermen, writers, walkers, storm chasers, whale watchers, scuba divers and historians. There is something here for everyone.
“Rita was brilliant, with a warm welcome and an offer of tea/coffee on arrival. We chatted for a while with other guests. Our room was spotless, very comfortable and had a lovely living room available to us with a telescope to view Hookhead Lighthouse. In fact, most of Rita’s house was available to her guests. Rita had excellent knowledge of the local attractions and amenities. We went out for the evening and Rita offered to collect us. On our return, again the warm welcome and refreshments were available. Our breakfast was lovely with some of Rita’s own banana bread and honey, it was delicious. I would highly recommend staying at Rita’s if your travelling anywhere in Wexford.”
