“The apartment is one the first floor opposite Tesco in Linlithgow. The apartment is light, comfortable and sufficiently spacious for a couple. We found the location very good indeed for amenities and for the main road to access other places. Entry was via a keybox outside the door of the apartment which was convenient. There was sufficient space to park my large car although this involved reversing around a corner where other cars are parked which involves a degree of concentration in the dark! The kitchen facilities are good and the bed is comfortable. The only negative was the shower was very basic: the power is very weak and the temperature erratic. I would certainly consider staying there again if we were exploring further in the area.”
The Wee Upside Down House is a quirky 18th century townhouse located in the heart of the historic town of Linlithgow. A one minute walk to the beautiful loch and only 5 minutes walk to the Palace of Linlithgow and an array of shops, pubs and restaurants. 15 minute walk to the train station (Edinburgh 20 mins, Glasgow 30 mins). This lovely house is perfect for exploring the area and is fully equipped for 2 - 3 people.
“Michelle's place offers wonderful accommodation at a sensible price. It is "wee", though more than adequate for a couple looking for a cosy getaway. Everything you need is provided, and Michelle is very quick to respond to communication meaning that if there were ever to be any queries you could be reassured that these would be resolved quickly. One of the main benefits is the location. In the centre of lovely Linlithgow which has all the basics, some lovely cafes and a beautiful loch for a morning jog, or to relax around reading a book. 20 minutes to Livingston for cinema or the designer shopping outlet. Also, no more that 20-30 mins from both Edinburgh and Glasgow - a cheap train journey away with trains every 30 mins or so. Why pay more to stay in the cities when you can have everything they offer with the tranquillity of a market town as well?”
Linlithgow is a charming small town with quirky shops, cafes and restaurants. The palace, famous as the birthplace of Mary, Queen of Scots sits overlooking the loch. Our home is situated on the rural outskirts of Linlithgow, with a substantial garden and views of the Ochil Hills and surrounding countryside. We are a 20 minute walk from the high street and railway station with frequent express services to Edinburgh and Glasgow. We are just 20 minutes from the Airport.
“Our very first Airbnb booking and what a brilliant choice it proved to be. Firstly our hosts Moira and Iain were so welcoming and it really did feel like a ‘home from home’. Very easy going folk with tremendous local knowledge of places to visit. We really enjoyed their company and chats. The accommodation is brilliant. A lovely bedroom with a very comfy bed and tea and coffee making facilities. Your own private lounge with a couple of comfy sofas and a big tv to watch. Lots of books and leaflets too. Your own little kitchen area that has a hob, microwave, fridge and private cupboard space for your food, should you decide to eat in. Plus all the necessary cutlery, plates, pans etc. Moira’s instructions for finding Edenholm are very easy to follow as Google maps will take you a little closer to town. Not far away but not exactly correct. So please read her messages and you can’t go wrong. Edenholm is a 15 - 20 minute walk to Linlithgow station and the town. If you don’t feel like the walk, there are frequent buses that run on that road. Lots of trains to Edinburgh, Stirling and of course Edinburgh. This makes it a great place to base yourself but you should also check out the local town. Linlithgow Palace is a must see and within 10 - 30 miles there are loads of other ‘must see’ attractions like Blackness Castle, Beecraigs Country Park, Culross, the Forth bridge (we thought the best viewpoint was North Queensferry) etc. We will definitely return at some point and Edenholm will be our preferred choice.”
