Peaceful Mountain Home near Asheville, River View/Access

Reconnect with nature on a cheerful orange rocking chair on the river-view deck of this authentic woodland cabin, set in 20 acres of unspoiled land. Cabin restored with 2 modern bedroom, fully modern kitchen and bath areas and utility room in 2017, plus deck off kitchen living area and another shaded deck in adjacent woods. Views of the river to welcome the mornings and sunsets in the evening. Large windows to provide indoor/outdoor living experience. Dog friendly rental, so please let us know if you plan to bring your buddy - 2 dog maximum. The cottage is ideal for small families, 2 couples or a small group. 4 people max. Dogs considered. Pet fee required. We both love the town of Asheville, yet wanted a place close enough to go back and forth easily while living in a beautiful retreat setting. Our first priority in finding land was to be near a beautiful river so we could spend time being nurtured by the sounds and animals of river life, - just sitting, reading, throwing sticks for our dog Morris and playing with grandchildren. We love the private feeling our land gives us while only being 20 minutes to Asheville, 12 minutes to charming Weaverville and 10 minutes to Mars Hill. We have three special outdoor areas for enjoyment. The first is our south facing deck. Accessed from either the main living area or master bedroom, it is perfect for watching a sunset while listening to the sounds of the Ivy River below. The deck also features a gas grill, conveniently located to kitchen and dining areas. Just a few steps from the front door of the cottage in a wooded area shaded by a great oak is a second patio deck. You can read, have an engaging conversation or take a relaxing nap in the hammock in the shade. We have also set aside a private spot on the river, a short walk from the cottage where you have your own beach area to sit, wade or fish. We are situated on 20 acres of wooded strolling paths, which includes private river front access for fishing or relaxing. The cottage, named Herons Nest, is centered around an off-grid cabin we built when we first purchased the land. We fully up fitted the cabin and added 2 bedrooms and a deck, to make it a mountain modern cottage. The setting is very private and peaceful, with large windows connecting all spaces to the natural world and a deck that overlooks the Ivy River, where you can enjoy the sounds of the laughing river, see wonderful bird life, and relax. We love the quiet, restful surroundings; yet the drive to shopping, exploring, and eating out are quite manageable. Our land is conveniently located to all of Western North Carolina’s outdoor opportunities, including white water rafting, fishing hiking, biking and horse back riding. Biltmore Estate is just 30 minutes away. There are many golf courses to choose from also. We are always available by phone and text if we are not actually at our home, just a few hundred yards down the road In the woods at the end of a beautiful drive along the river and just a short distance to restaurants, bars and bakeries of Mars Hill and Weaverville, it's an easy 20 minutes to Asheville to visit a plethora of craft and micro breweries, top-notch restaurants, mountain and modern arts and crafts, nightlife venues and outdoor activities from hiking, fishing, water sports, riding, and biking too numerous to catalog here. All this attracts people from far and wide to the N.C. mountains. We are rural North Carolina and lucky to have high speed speed fiber optic internet that was just installed Spring, 2018
