What a lovely quiet cottage with plenty of space for 6 of us with our greyhound. A short distance from Ambleside for anything you might need, the cottage has lots of bathrooms, comfortable seating and beds, good parking, an enclosed rear garden for our dog and walks straight from the front door. Much bigger than we anticipated, with beautiful outside spaces and everything we needed for our visit, we really couldn’t fault it. We stayed here to do The Lap and it was a perfect location for that and to spend a week recovering in! Great views of Latterbarrow which we’ll miss, but would definitely book again.

We stayed at the Buttermere cottage 6th - 9th April 2025 with our puppy. The cottage was lovely, homely and had all the amenities needed. We ate in throughout our stay and had all the basics needed. The cottage was clean, tidy and had beautiful grounds, only a 5 minute walk to the Esthwaite Lake. My only negative was no sugar with the tea and coffee provided, but that’s my problem - I need to grow up and cut the sugar lol. Being serious, we had a gorgeous time. I would definitely recommend staying here, especially with your four legged friends.

Jian was a brilliant host, extremely friendly, helpful and very responsive. The place we stayed was spotless and came with some really nice complimentary items. Perfect location with plenty of walkable pubs, restaurants and scenic walks. We loved our stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to visit the lakes!
