This comfortable and peaceful one-bedroom annexe is the perfect retreat for a couple. Situated in the pretty conservation village of Gavinton, a few miles outside Duns, the property sits on a 50-acre organic farm. Our annexe is spacious and relaxing, the ideal romantic rural escape. Edinburgh is just 50 mins away and there much to see in the Borders.
With the rapidly developing Coronavirus crisis and an increasing number of people self-isolating, our property could be the perfect escape for those wishing to avoid contact with others potentially infected or self-isolating. Our normal daily life here on the farm is virtually one of self-isolation and days go by when we do not come into contact with anyone, yet still being on the edge of and part of a small village of 300 inhabitants. We have 50 acres of farmland that you can walk around and look at the animals and hear the wildlife, without seeing another soul. Isolated beauty spots, hill walking, quiet beaches and river walks and lots of cycling can also be found around and about our property, again without having to come into close contact with another human. The annexe cottage is self-contained with private parking and its own separate entrance and therefore is ideal for escaping social contact without feeling too isolated from life and human habitation. The annexe cottage is deep cleaned thoroughly after every visit using alcohol and hydrogen peroxide products. This includes cleaning of all door handles and hard surfaces in addition to all kitchen equipment being re-washed after every guest visit. In nearby Duns (less than five minutes by car) there is a superb fresh fish and delicatessen shop, award winning butcher, small Co-op supermarket, pharmacy, newsagents and wine store/ice cream parlour. All of which have continued to be well stocked in spite of the reported panic buying elsewhere. We would also be more than happy to assist with any shopping you may require during your stay if you require it. Our farmhouse annexe has been newly renovated to a high standard. With underfloor heating throughout, Egyptian Cotton bedding and Hungarian goose down pillows, in a tranquil rural environment, we are sure you will sleep well and enjoy your retreat here. We provide guests with complimentary organic free-range eggs, cake, tea/coffee, and milk on arrival. We have bookshelves filled with a selection of books and a number of board games to play. Our living room has an Aromatherapy Humidifier with lavender oil that guests can use throughout their stay. The farmhouse annexe offers a new kitchen with combi oven/grill/microwave, dishwasher, super speed Wifi, and outdoor seating area. Guests can enjoy the beautiful sunrises from the kitchen window (as shown in the photos). The living area has a Smart TV and a cosy wood burning stove with unlimited supply of wood. The bathroom has a powerful shower and bath and we provide soft, white, fluffy towels and lavender and geranium 'Faith in Nature' Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Wash. We provide maps, local tourist information and a walking route map of our farm. Guests have private off road parking right outside the annexe.
Alexa runs yoga classes at the yoga studio beside the annexe cottage on Mondays 9.45-11am, 6-7pm and Thursdays 6-7pm (£8 per class) which you are welcome to attend if there is space available. Private yoga lessons also available upon request. Gavinton has a number of beautiful walks and cycle routes nearby and is within walking distance (30 mins) of Duns, which is a lovely walk through the hills. The nearby River Tweed has excellent fishing and there are many horse riding stables nearby. In Duns there are a number of boutique coffee shops, pubs, takeaways, community cinema and restaurants. There is a lovely swimming pool with a sauna and fitness classes. In Duns there is plenty to do including a walk around and visit to the 14th Century Duns Castle, the Jim Clark Museum and the nearby Manderston and Paxton House. You can also visit the seaside town of Berwick-upon-Tweed which is a 25 min drive and has a train line to Edinburgh, Dunbar and Newcastle. Or simply relax and enjoy the slower pace of life.
  • What a wonderful place to stay! From the cake to the fresh eggs, the hospitality was spot on. If you have the chance to take on of Alexas’ yoga classes in the studio next door I’d highly recommended it, it was just what we needed after a long days hike and eased us into sitting by the fire-we can’t wait to stay again.

  • Alexa's place is sparkling clean modern yet homely with all the conveniences you would hope for Wonderfully warm with underfloor heating and if that isn't enough a super cosy wood burning stove in the sittingroom - lovely to cosy up by on a winters day I can highly recommend Alexa's place to other travellers you won't be disappointed

  • We had a wonderful mini-break in the Borders. The house was lovely; it had everything we needed with great finishing touches including a very yummy lemon cake on arrival, a well-stacked bookcase, and a cosy woodburner already made up. Alexa runs a yoga class in her studio next door, and kindly managed to fit us into her class at short notice. It was a lovely setting to unwind in.

  • Perfect little getaway. Everything was pristine, incredibly comfortable bed with high quality bedding, towels and toiletries. There were lots of lovely little touches from the hosts like homemade lemon drizzle cake and fresh eggs from the farm, which all added to the experience. The annex feels much more spacious than it appears on the photos. The living room was really cosy with a wood burning stove and lots of books and boardgames making this a perfect place to relax in the evenings. Great location for cycling and although just over an hour from Edinburgh we felt worlds away from the bustle of the city. We couldn’t have hoped for better hosts and the stay exceeded our expectations. We would recommend to anyone looking for a country retreat!

  • This place is a little gem! Although I was travelling for work, I took my Aunty and daughter with me so I didn’t have to be away from her (I’m away a lot for work). The flat was immaculate throughout, with a great location in the centre and right by where I needed to visit. Stacey has thought of everything you may need as a guest whilst staying, from local bus routes/times, menus, to shower gels and books! A very comfortable stay, lovely and quiet, modern yet cosy. Could quite happily stay here for a week!! Highly recommend for both business and pleasure!

  • Great wee place, nicely done and perfect for a wedding at wedderburns

    Mark2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • I had never heard of Duns, just wanted to get away for a little break and came across The Yard Hideaway. Couldn't fault it, spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, bed was really comfy, shower amazing and the place was really quiet. Just what we needed. Duns itself was really nice, everyone friendly and we will definitely love to stay again. Stacey and Robert were at hand and were great hosts, especially showing us how to work out the TV through your mobile phone. We didn't have a clue ha. Anyone thinking about staying, you won't be disappointed. X

  • The flat is a great space to spend the weekend in Duns - some lovely little touches. Stacey was on hand in an instant and was helpful and friendly in all the correspondence. Would definitely recommend to others and wouldn't hesitate to book again if I'm back in that neck of the woods. Great experience!

A large, cosy, west facing room in the basement of a Georgian villa with private wet room. The house is situated in a convenient yet secluded location close to the centre of the small town of Duns. Ideally situated for outdoor pursuits, local wedding venues or exploring the Scottish Borders towns, abbeys and beaches. Please read the description below before booking.
Our guest room has underfloor heating, the private wet room is nearby, across the corridor (we supply bath robes). The large 1930s continental-style bed is made out of two bed frames and has two single duvets, usually arranged together (with a 2 inch gap between the mattrasses) but can be set up apart on request. The mattrasses measure 1mx2m each. We can also supply a cot (please advise at time of booking). A continental breakfast is served upstairs in our large kitchen/diner. Please note we are a busy household with 4 (well- behaved) children aged 9-18, we enjoy meeting new people though and staying with us is an informal affair where guests are treated as part of the family. Our home is close to the wedding venues of Wedderburn Castle (1.8 miles), Duns Castle (0.8 mile) and Manderston House (1.5 miles). Please note that we have been renovating the house for about six years now, doing most of the work ourselves, and some areas may still look a little faded! We are also a TV free zone.
Previous guests have commented that Duns reminds them of small French towns. It has an attractive Market Square with a good variety of shops and cafes. Duns has a vibrant community with events throughout the year. We are involved with a number of local organisations and will be able to advise you on local events if you wish.
  • The Butlers Quarters was a unique place to stay in a Georgian house “below stairs” as would have the Butler been in ages past. The accommodation has been renovated in a period style and furnished accordingly. Excellent separate bathroom facilities across the corridor, with a bath robe supplied. Being a TV free house was an advantage, as the family provided plenty of opportunity to join them around the kitchen table for a chat and a meal. Made to feel very welcome and be part of their cohesive family.

  • Lovely place, lovely family, lovely breakfast!

    James2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely stay in a warm and hospitable environment. Kathi and family were superlative hosts, welcoming us and our three year old in an easy and relaxed household. The accommodation is a large-ish bedroom in the lower ground floor of an 18th century villa and has a period feel appropriate to the property. Our daughter was particularly delighted with the hens and ducks running around the gardens and the lavish breakfast. Really good value and a great stay.

Light and spacious, big space. Fully equipped kitchen. Clean and smart. Right in the town center with parking for one car right outside the front door.
Big town house with lots of chractor. It is four to five bedrooms however only two bedrooms are set up yet. Will set up the next two in the next few weeks
Right in the center of town center. Super market is couple of minutes away. Restaurants, coffee shops, chemist and post office all within a couple of minutes walking distance
  • This is a large house with plenty of room for all guests. The lounge is comfortable and warm, and the kitchen is spectacular. We really enjoyed our stay and will likely be back!

  • Naeem’s place provides a fabulous base to explore around the borders from. He had left a well stocked kitchen, the beds were very comfy and a hot shower is available after a day walking.

  • Spotless, cosy, light and airy and in a great location in the centre of the cute village of Duns, we very much enjoyed our stay here. Great host with swift communication and very accommodating. Already wondering when we can go back!

  • One of the best value stays we have had via AirBnB. Plenty of space, great location and a good host. There is some risk of noise from the square (we had 1 quiet night and 1 disturbed sleep night) depending on what is on locally. You could possibly move to one of the back bedrooms further from the square in any case, several to choose from. Very friendly local village, co-op just out the back, pub and cafes a few steps away. Home of the Jim Clark museum, a worthy visit.

  • Naeem's property is really nice. Plenty of space, quite quiet and comfortable. Centrally located - good for exploring Berwick and Lindisfarne for example.

  • Gem of an apartment in a great location. Great place at a great price for a holiday in the Scottish Borders

    Richard2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time in the property. The large, bright, spacious rooms gave our kids plenty of space to run around in. We had no trouble at all with checking-in and it was nice to have a few essentials on hand for the morning. Dons also proved a good starting point for exploring the local area.

  • Rose Cottage is a lovely property set in beautiful surroundings. The heating keeps it nice and warm, and it has a really cosy feel, even when it's cold outside. It was great to be able to walk round the castle grounds right from the cottage doorstep. Duns is only a short walk or drive away with a good selection of shops. Overall highly recommended for a peaceful getaway.

  • Very spacious , comfortable house in a beautiful, quiet location within walking distance to town. With our car, we were within an hour of Alnwick Castle, Bamburgh Castle and Holy Island. I also enjoyed walks from the house past beautiful scenery and a couple of interesting historical sites.

  • An extremely lovely country retreat, only a short walk to Duns. We loved our stay.

    Veronica2019-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • A gorgeous cottage in the grounds of a majestic castle estate. Three generations of my family loved staying there and it was not only fantastic for access to the borders, but also Edinburgh & Northumbrian attractions.

  • A lovely, gracious and cosy cottage with plenty of space in the incredible setting of Duns Castle. We had an absolutely brilliant stay with our ‘grown up’ children and granny too. It was a great base for exploring the Borders, as well enjoying the beautiful walks in the surrounding estate. Thank you so much for a wonderful Easter holiday!

  • Really appreciated Heather's support when were struggling to work through the Booking process for the 1st time. Useful and quick responses really helped. Directions were offered and a boon. Lovely to put a face to a name when meeting Heather on our arrival, and that she had thoughtfully lit the fire which was much appreciated after our long, wet journey. Communication was consistent throughout our stay with a minor glitch about our leaving date which was quickly resolved. Lovely, quirky space with a big character that felt homely but spacious. (bigger in reality than on the pics) Interesting decor and artwork, husband really loved the driftwood picture frames. Well equipped kitchen with plenty of tea towels, matches, tealights etc and every tool you could possibly need.Comfy bed, great shower (clean towels left for our use) Fantastic base for wonderful memory making day trips. We visited Berwick Upon Tweed, Lindisfarne (great for seaglass collecting), Bamburgh Castle/beach, Coldstream and Hirsel Estate, Duns Castle, The Whiteadder River...Friendly neighbours who showed (along with Heather) great concern for our dog who was injured on a walk (treated professionally and with care by the local vets) Would definitely love to return to this wonderful, cosy Scottish hideaway!

  • Heather's place was much better than I expected. It was quite comfortable and welcoming. We enjoyed the large the space and the thoughtful touches. Heather started a fire for us upon arrival, and there was a notebook about local attractions and amenities. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay and will likely stay again when we come back to the area.

  • A fabulous place with a lovely homely atmosphere. Very spacious and equipped with everything you could need. |A warm welcome from Heather and all the neighbours were very friendly. Excellent value for money

  • What a wonderful find! Exactly what I wanted surrounded by open countryside (but near a town) and a nearby river with a beautiful little garden. Very comfortable bed and everything you could wish for was provided.

    Janie2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible value for money. Heather’s place is extremely well equipped, spacious and homely. We fell in love with the place , the little garden and the space surrounding the cottages was ideal for the dog. The fact that it was a little way out from the nearest village didn’t matter with a car. Friendly helpful neighbours and advice from Heather made discovering the local area more enjoyable. Heather easy to contact and even though we were a bit late arriving key handover was no problem at all. Phone signal good in property and use of dongle for WiFi although we didn’t need it Satnav as Heather warned us is a bit hit and miss so directions Heather sent were useful Recommend this property wholeheartedly and will be back if time permits. Thank you Heather.

  • Kate and Andrew are the perfect hosts! They welcomed us with open arms and coffee/tea with cookies! They went out of their way to give us a good time, Andrew even gave us a lift to a pub around dinnertime. Breakfast was outstanding and it came with a great view of the country side. All in all a perfect experience.

  • Kate and Andy are fantastic hosts, going above and beyond what I would ever expect from a host, to make sure we had the best stay possible. Their home is wonderful and they do a fantastic breakfast, which might have just saved my life that morning (I was incredibly hungover, having been to a wedding the night before). Could not recommend them enough.

A delightful self-catering holiday cottage, with wood burner and well equipped kitchen, in a convenient yet secluded location close to the centre of the small town of Duns. Ideally situated for outdoor pursuits, local wedding venues or exploring the Scottish Borders towns, abbeys and beaches.
Gardener's Lodging, part of a category B listed Georgian Villa, is full of character, decorated with hand-made soft furnishings using quality fabrics. Whilst it is attached to the owner's house it has its own entrance and a private sheltered garden. Parking in the courtyard. Entrance into a hallway and then up a broad-shallow staircase to the apartment. Lobby with coat hooks and access to dining kitchen and bathroom. Traditional bathroom with hand held shower over the bath. The kitchen has a dishwasher, Belfast sink, fridge with ice box, coffee and espresso maker, induction hob (not suitable for people with certain types of pacemaker), oven and microwave. The table comfortably seats six. Access from the kitchen into the private garden with its outside seating area. Access from the kitchen to the living room (two steps). The living room has a woodburning stove (free wood available), making this a cosy place to stay at any time of year. There is plenty of seating (which includes a double sofa bed if required - please advise at time of booking) and a small table for those wishing to eat away from the kitchen. Please note that while there is a DAB stereo system and wifi available in here, Gardener's Lodging is a TV-free zone. There is no TV licence associated with the accommodation and therefore it is not possible to watch TV live or on the iPlayer. The living room has a good collection of books and CDs and also a range of games. There is also a selection of DVDs to watch on your own device. We have a bouncy chair, play mat and other toys for babies and young children for you to use. The bedroom is accessed from the living room and has a comfortable king size bed as well as a single, plus an extra single bed which pulls out from underneath if required. Due to the thick walls of the house there is no wifi reception in the kitchen and the bathroom. Two cots and Tripp Trapp high chairs can be supplied free of charge (please book these in advance). Washing machine and tumble drier are available in a shared utility room accessed from the entrance hallway. All bed linen, towels and fuel included. Everything is supplied for your first cup of tea, herbal tea, hot chocolate or coffee on arrival, including home baking. Please note that unfortunately we cannot accept any pets. Check-in is from 4pm. If you would like an earlier check-in time this can be arranged in advance, for a charge of £10 per hour. This will allow us to pay extra staff to get the place ready on time. Please let us know. Alternatively, please consider booking an extra day. Thank you for your understanding.
Situated a short walk from the Market Square of the delightful little town of Duns in the Scottish Borders, our house is a Georgian villa set in 1.5 acres of gardens rich in wildlife. With local walks from the door around Duns Castle Nature Reserve, golf at the local golf course, or the direct bus services to Eyemouth, Berwick-upon-Tweed and Melrose, as well as offering access to Borders cycle routes, you may not want to use the car at all. Alternatively, the beach at Coldingham Bay and St Abbs are 20 minutes away by car, with many Border towns, abbeys and stately homes also within the vicinity. The attractions of the North Northumberland coast and the Cheviot Hills are within easy reach as well, such as the Holy Island of Lindesfarne. Duns itself can cater for all your daily shopping needs (including a prize-winning butcher), as well as offering gift shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes. It has a thriving community with events happening throughout the year. The nearest railway station is at Berwick-upon-Tweed. Duns golf course is just outside the town beyond the local swimming pool. Edinburgh is about one hour by car. Previous guests have commented that Duns reminds them of small French towns. It has an attractive Market Square with a good variety of shops and cafes. Duns has a vibrant community with events throughout the year. We are involved with a number of local organisations and will be able to advise you on local events if you wish.

  • Beautiful little traditional cottage with fresh duck eggs and a real log fire. We booked for a wedding nearby with some friends and our two young kids... had everything we could have possibly needed, including a bouncer and play mat!! Kathi was lovely and there was a freshly baked chocolate cake waiting for us on the counter... by far the best I have tasted! We will definitely be back.

    Ashley2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • I had such a relaxing escape at Kathi's house! I arrived fairly late but this wasn't a problem for Kathi who was there to show me around. The cottage was very cosy and had so many touches which made it feel like a proper home from home - and an excellently stocked kitchen! Something that is always important to me when I travel. Would happily stay here again if I am in the area!

    Stacy2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Kathi’s place. Beautifully dressed, homely and very comfortable. A lovely friendly market town, Maxwells is a must! We would highly recommend Kathi’s place.

    Victoria2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Kathi's place was absolutely beautiful. The garden was so dreamy to walk around early in the morning with a cup of tea. We wished we had run into Tibbles the cat but the chickens were very entertaining. We were only there for a short night to attend a wedding at the nearby castle but we wished we could stay much longer to explore the quaint town of Duns.

    Avalon2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Peaceful, home from home, just the little things that made it, who needs TV on holiday, time to talk and communicate. The place is tidy and well equipped for your stay, lots of information and advice and guidance. The place is a hidden treasure, and once found you want to keep it to yourself! But then again why would you not want to share something so special xx

  • I loved the garden cottage. I stayed here to attend a wedding in nearby Duns castle. The cottage is in a lovely quiet location but only a 5 minute drive to Duns. It was bigger than I expected, modern, fresh and very clean. The garden was just gorgeous for relaxing in the morning sunshine! I had to shorten my stay and regret not being able to stay longer!

    Judith2019-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great property, in a very quiet location with a lovely big garden which was perfect for our aging dog, and well within driving distance of some great beaches, and tourist attractions. We'll certainly be back in the future...

  • Just fantastic..

    Denise2019-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage, immaculately presented and well equipped in a peaceful and quiet setting. Approaching the castle in the pitch darkness late at night was a little eery, but well worth it. The cottage was warm and cosy when I arrived, and very safe. It also has a lovely large, completely contained garden which I could see being lovely in the summer. I stayed there alone this time, using the cottage for a bit of a silent retreat (for which it was perfect), but I shall definitely return with my partner in tow next time and perhaps for a longer stay too. Highly recommended.

  • The cottage was beautiful and bigger than expected it has a really cosy homely feel to it. It had everything we needed for visit comfy beds and sofas, plenty of books to read. There was even some toy boxes filled with Lego, duplo and barbies, these were fantastic and entertained our boys for hours! the garden was a lovely size too. We shall be returning :-) it’s a hidden gem and we didn’t want to leave

  • Stable Cottage is a little treasure in the heart of Duns. Much bigger than expected and very well equipped. We explored the surrounding area and returned to the comfort of the cottage each evening.

  • Lovely cottage, extremely well equipped, spacious and very comfortable. Would highly recommend it .

    Andrew2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine's cottage is really wonderfully comfortable and cosy. It's much bigger than the pictures suggest, with a huge living room. It's also very secluded with its own garden where you can watch the birds while eating outside on the deck. It has all the amenities you could need in the kitchen as we were cooking every day and 2 bathrooms. We had such a good time and hope to return.

    Frankie2017-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is beautiful. Nestled away down - what looks like a French secluded alley way- we found our place to stay for our three night trip and we were so happy upon arrival. Greeted by Catherine who was friendly, warm and welcoming and who, knowing I was travelling with young children, offered help with the little ones while I unpacked a bag or two. Small touches like a bottle of wine, games and Lego for the children and beds arranged to suit our needs, our stay was perfect. The cottage is much larger than it appears on the photos. It is clean, practical and beautiful to boot and in my opinion, excellent value for money. Would definitely return!

    Vicki2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • A hidden gem in the Borders - well worth discovering. Great, clean, comfortable accommodation close to shops but secluded and quiet. Speedy efficient comms and a lovely welcome. Highly recommended and we would love to return.

  • Catherine's home was spacious, airy, comfortable and well equipped. It was perfect for our party of 4 including 2 children. Plenty of games, books and toys to enjoy. Our dog enjoyed the good sized and enclosed garden. It's close to the local shops and restaurants. Also handy for walking the dog at Duns castle. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

    Claire2017-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Stables Cottage. The cottage was just as we had hoped - spacious, clean and airy with all mod cons which helped make our time there so relaxing. Duns was a great base for our explorations of the Borders. Plus there was plenty to keep us occupied in Duns itself - walks around the nature reserve and trips to the playground. The shops are just around the corner - good butcher, baker, fishmonger and Co-op - and the cottage is well set back from the road so very peaceful.

  • West Lodge was a beautiful place for me and my family to have stayed during our holidays in Scotland. We were impressed by the setting of the lodge (without the compounds of a castle!), which I didn't realise would be the case when I booked, and so it was an incredible surprise for all of us! The grounds were amazing, the castle was beautiful, and our place was comfortable and great value for money. Overall we loved our stay at the lodge and would definitely come back next time!

    Wenxin2019-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • The West Lodge is a great accommodation for either 3 couples or large family. Very spacious, comfortable and has everything you might need. Hosts extremely helpful. In a fantastic setting and location perfect for explorations in the Border Country. We highly recommend.

  • Great location to explore the borders and coast. West Lodge is spotless, spacious and well appointed. All you need is a 10 minute drive away in Duns. The info provided in the welcome pack was v useful. Any questions we had we're promptly answered. Beautiful grounds, lots of wildlife to spot, evening walk was one of the highlights of the day. Nearby, Paxton house was a great day out for little ones.

    Bill2018-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • This was the most fabulous place, I really cannot recommend it enough. I came up from London for my mums birthday with my family and my boyfriend. Cat gave really clear directions and was available on the phone when we managed to drive down the wrong country lane! The lodge was immaculately clean, warm and Cat had left milk, tea bags and snacks for our arrival which after a long car journey was very welcome. It's spacious and surrounded by stunning countryside. We had such a wonderful time and this was largely thanks to the brilliant folder of recommended restaurants left in the lodge. We sampled both the Allanton Inn in Alanton and the Wheatsheaf in Swinton, both were exceptionally good and I'm sure we would not have found them without the folder. I would definitely encourage a stay in West Lodge!

    Roy2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Well, who wouldn't want to stay in a cottage in the grounds of a castle?! Groom's Cottage is so picturesque - everything you would want a country cottage to be. In a little block in the castle grounds, easily accessible from the road, space to unload and park your car. It's small. but perfectly formed, with everything you could possible need - it's been very well thought out. Spotlessly clean too. Perfect for dogs as space right outside when they need it, and lots of outdoor space in the castle grounds for walks. Watch out for the hares - they are HUGE and quite an amazing sight! Lots of local information sent with the booking which made day trips out so easy and we visited some amazing places we wouldn't have known about otherwise (Cove Harbour on a sunny day is a MUST!). And so lovely to be able to come back in the evening and relax with a bath and a log fire. Cat couldn't have been more helpful - from the communication with the initial booking through to getting the TV retuned when we arrived so we didn't miss the Love Island final :) Was really sad to only have two nights there - as it's perfectly located for exploring the Borders, coats, Berwick etc. Would 100% recommend and would love to return. Thank you x

  • This is a gorgeous wee cottage. A beautifully converted section of the stables with lots of its origins visible and adding tonnes of charm. It's set in the most beautiful grounds and although it rained for most of the time I was there me and the dogs thoroughly enjoyed our walks. Managing the mud afterwards was a bit tricky and if you've got dogs who move fast you might want to bring a wee gate or the like to block off access to the bedroom. Part of its great charm is the reminder of its former use. It it means there's no door to the upstairs room, just curtains which for a curios dog is no deterrent. The bath is huge and the water hot and the perfect place to relax after a muddy walk. The whole place is supremely quiet. Cat is extremely helpful and went out of her way to help me with the booking.

    Susan2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Spent a very comfortable and relaxing couple of days ay Groom's Cottage. Beautiful setting and very quiet but accessible to lots of sites of interest: Holy Island, Alnwick and wild windswept beaches etc. Cottage is well equipped and cosy. We had our dogs who loved the open grassland surrounding the cottage. Key pick up was straightforward. Recommend. Owner on hand by phone.

  • The cottage was lovely, it was located in the grounds of Wedderburn castle, very quiet and in beautiful surroundings. Located near Duns it is in a good position for visiting the Northumberland coast and the Scottish border towns of Eyemouth, Kelso, Coldstream, Melrose and Peebles etc. We visited two nice restaurants recommended by Kat and enjoyed very good food. The cottage was very nicely appointed with good quality equipment and furnishings and the beds were very comfortable.

  • Wonderful cottage, full of charm. Perfect for our family holiday in the gorgeous Scottish Borders.

    Veronica2018-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly what we wanted from a host. The knowledge that should I need them they were only a phone call away. But other than that just left us to enjoy our mini break. Felt like nobility having an entire estate to ourselves, able to wander the grounds and enjoy the scenery undisturbed. If there were staff around then they were very quiet! Very old building that was just steeped in history. Amazing how clean and completely dust free the cottage was , considering its age! We had a wonderful time!

    Heather2018-08-17T00:00:00Z
