Daisy was so friendly! I got in late from a wedding reception that ran late, however, Daisy came to bring breakfast and towels right to our doorstep! How kind! The house is just as advertised. Quaint and lovely! The neighborhood made me feel safe which was so nice since I arrived after dark. Not to mention when I opened the front door in the morning and looked to my right, I saw the most beautiful mountain view! Thank you Daisy! Two thumbs up!

Daisy's little cottage was just as described. It was clean with a lovely welcoming touch. The neighborhood was quaint and quiet with a couple antique shops within walking distance. My husband and I let ourselves in and enjoyed the fruit and drinks she provided. When we met Daisy the next day she was super helpful in sharing information about local events and site seeing. We were amazed at the gorgeous mountain view just minutes from her home. Roan Mountain is a must see!! (Thank you so much, Daisy, for the suggestion!) We will definitely be back again next year.

We really found Daisy's cottage quite unique and a great value. You have a whole cottage to yourself next door to Daisy's house. I really liked the kitchen as it had everything you needed to cook and more. There was a nice outdoor patio where you could sit or breakfast. Daisy was very helpful and and really fun to talk to. She was great at respecting our privacy, but was easily available if needed. She grows and picks fresh berries that are in the frig when you arrive. I would definitely stay there again.

Daisy was a fantastic host that provided fresh strawberries from her own patch, other fresh fruits, cookies, bagels and more. She is a very sweet lady that is interested in making your stay comfortable and enjoyable.

Staying at Daisy’s completely surprised my expectations. Even though we arrived late, we were welcome with hugs and a fridge full of fresh berries from her garden. The home is cozy and comfortable. There’s nothing like waking up the sound of singing carnivals and the smell of fresh mountain air. Daisy even invited us to the town’s 4th of July picnic which was so much fun and everyone was kind enough to share their favorite hiking spots. Definitely take the time to drive the Blue Ridge and hike down to Crabtree falls—it was my personal favorite. Thanks again for everything Daisy!

Daisy's beautiful cottage in the mountains was exactly what we needed. Our stay was riddled with snow/blizzard conditions, but the amenities of Daisy's cottage kept us busy. We only stayed for one night, but wish we could have stayed for the whole week. The cottage exceeded all of our expectations and made our North Carolina vacation the best yet!

Daisy is a wonderful host who made us feel very welcome when we arrived. There were bagels, cookies, fruit and orange juice for us as well as a map of the area and brochures for things to do nearby. This information came in handy as we did not have set plans for the entire weekend. The house was clean and comfortable as described. Jim was very easy to work with. This is a brand new home and is fully furnished. If you like to be in the woods then this is the (URL HIDDEN) was very peaceful hearing the water from the stream. Elk river falls is a stone throw away. We had ATT cell service and it would not work at this location, but another provider may work. I would definitely recommend staying at this location.

If you are looking for a quiet place for you and your family, this is it! We had plenty of room for four people and a very active pup! The view is stunning to watch the sunrise/sunset. It's also in a perfect spot seeing as you have TN, only moments away and plenty of fun things to do in the area such as hike, look through antique shops, or check out the local Christmas tree farms! We can't wait to stay here again!

Easy to get to and awesome cabin in the high country........sit by the fire and have a drink.....then watch the sunrise in the morning and watch the deer walk right past you. Really quite place away from it all. Thanks Chris for letting us stay in your cabin!

We had a really great time at the cabin and can't wait to go back! My kids (and dog) are super sad to go home as they played out in the backyard pretty much all weekend. Very secluded and awesome

Although I'd prefer to keep it a secret for myself, it's only fair to share that my experience at Kathryn's place was completely wonderful! The house is spacious and beautiful - and everything you could need is supplied. Everything went smoothly - Kathryn responded immediately to all communication and was very pleasant to work with. Back to the house... lovely and peaceful with gorgeous views, as well as cool cows in the (fenced) field and wild turkeys roaming the property. Very private, yet not far to Ingles supermarket and other services. Amazing deck with super nice, double-wide hammock you can actually get in and out of! The kitchen was well-equipped, with everything you could need to prepare your own meals - then enjoy them along with the view. The master bedroom was spacious with access to the deck, and a large bathroom and closet. We didn't use the other two bedrooms, but they were quite nice - one with twin beds, the other with a queen - and the hall bath was large and very nice. Plenty of towels, bedding, and whatever else you could need. The entire house was spotlessly clean. A couple of things to be aware of... the driveway is, indeed, long, rocky and rough. Also, there is no house phone, cable or internet service. Kathryn says that she has good reception there with her Verizon service, but I did not. I could send texts, but calls were iffy, and data was too slow to be useful. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about our stay at Kathryn's place, highly recommend it, and look forward to returning!

This was the perfect place for our family get away! We were close to everything we had planned to do. This trip was for Autumn at Oz and we had no trouble getting there and back. Kathryn was so helpful both before and after we booked and left and she checked on us through out our stay to make sure everything was perfect. Kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to cook meals and everyone one in my family both from TN and VA said that the house felt like home. We plan to go back to the area and want to stay here again. Also, this house is close to The Mason Jar which had wonderful food. Thanks again Kathryn for a wonderful place to stay.

This rustic and secluded home brings about so much! It definitely provides a fantastic opportunity to feel how one can live the life of serenity and peace! The waterfall is is wonderful and falling asleep to the sound of the waterfall is fantastic! I would highly recommend everyone take time out of the crazy and hectic daily life to experience this spot!!!!

It is truly like taking a step back in time. Even the drive in just strips the stress away. Our families had the best time. So serene, and relaxing and the attention to detail given and amenities provided by the hosts made it so easy to kick back, relax, and feel like you're at your home away from home. We have decided that it is essential for us to visit as often as possible.

Very rustic. We enjoyed our stay, but I would ask lots of questions to make sure it is the right place for you before booking. I expected something a little different and was a bit surprised. Beautiful outdoor surroundings. Ability to build outdoor fire, which was great fun!!

Nancy was unable to meet us due to a family emergency. I was unable to contact her to report the following concerns because I had no cell service and the landline did not work. On entering, the cabin has a profound odor of mold, mildew, and dust. There were layers of dust on everything, and visible dirt on all floors and carpets. There were large mold spots on the pillows and sheets on the upstairs beds. The upstairs rooms smelled of mold and urine. The dishes in the kitchen had clearly not been used in ages as there was caked on dirt and dust. The toilet had not been cleaned well and there was feces splattered on the rim and the underside of the seat. We proceeded to strip the beds and wash all of the sheets and mattress pads (there was a washer/dryer) and then put them back on the beds. We had to wash all pots and dishes before using them for dinner that night. We wiped down the headboards and the walls in the upstairs room and the wash water turned dark brown with the dirt. The urine and mold smell was so overpowering in the second back bedroom that we could not tolerate being in there at all. The next morning we packed up and left as soon as possible. All hotels were booked in the vicinity (or we would have left the night before) and it was raining so we could not sleep outside. We had intended to stay a second night but were unwilling to stay in the cabin again. We left the cabin in better shape than we found it but it still requires a tremendous amount of TLC before it is suitable for guests. I understand that it has sentimental value for the family, and that is fine, but it is not ready for airbnb. In addition, I took my two small children for a short walk amongst the beautiful fall foliage. We heard dogs barking and from up a hill there were 4 large dogs that came barreling down the hill towards us. I like dogs and am not afraid of them, but having 4 large unrestrained dogs running as a pack at me and my two children while barking loudly was terrifying. Positives: the scenery is beautiful with a lovely creek out front. There is a working electric organ in the cabin that our kids enjoyed playing. Our dogs enjoyed eating the apples that had fallen from the large heritage apple tree nearby. The front porch is pleasant.

Nancy was a great host. The bed was very comfortable (we like a firm mattress), and everything was as clean as a 100 year old cabin can be. I loved the fireplace, and sitting on the front porch listening to the water run from the nearby creek. It was so relaxing! I was able to imagine what it must have been like when the house was a homestead in the early nineteen hundreds. If you are looking for new and spotless this is not for you. The property is described very well as a 100 year old homestead. If you are looking to stay in a rustic historic home this is the place!

This cabin could not have been better! A few of my friends and I stayed here for a ski weekend and were enchanted. It's very secluded and cozy and has comfy beds.

This was our first time using AirBnb and I was a bit afraid but it was awesome! The House is beautiful in a gorgeous secluded location. Extremely well kept and has everything you need. The hot tub is great in the afternoon and night and beautiful place to make a bonfire! The real up to the top can be a bit intimidating if you're not in a four wheeler bit its worth it! The host are amazing and right there for anything you. Need! We will definitely be Visiting again!

This cabin is absolutely gorgeous and perfect for a long weekend. Every single detail make it a peaceful retreat.

Just wanted to say that this is a beautiful home with a beautiful view! The back porch and hot tub were amazing and the only time we wanted to go inside was to sleep. Loved being outdoors! The cabin was very easy to find and not far from Highway however we still felt like we were alone with nature. The cabin was very well taken care of and very clean upon our arrival. The cabin was very centrally located to some awesome North Carolina mountain hotspots and we were able to visit Boone, Blowing Rock, and Grandfather Mountain. This was an excellent destination for a weekend getaway!

Uli's place was beautiful, impeccably clean, and well stocked with everything we needed (even soap, detergent, and plenty of toilet paper!). It was also well located up from a small public lake and a small college track. The neighborhood offered a (steep) road to run/walk with beautiful views and the area is quiet. It's only 3 miles to Banner Elk where you'll find a grocery store, great outdoor consignment shops, a brewery, and a great coffee shop. It took us 20 min to get to Beech Mountain in the summer, and about 25 minutes to Boone. Overall, a really cozy, comfortable, seamless stay. Uli is also incredibly easy to communicate with. I have no reservatioms about recommending this great find.

Our family had a great time at the cabin! One day driving through the community we spotted a black bear at the edge of the woods. Where the cabin is located there is a lot to do. There are hiking trails, a sportsman lodge, and a tee pee campsite, among many other things. It is conveniently located in Banner Elk, near downtown. The cabin is very roomy, has an awesome game room with a pool table, air hockey, many other games and amenities. And the view from the back porch! We plan to visit again!

Red Stag cabin is absolutely breathtaking. We stayed with a group of eight and felt like Kings and Queens in this house with such a gorgeous backdrop and all the amenities that the place offered. We were close enough to a variety of activities like hiking and breweries, but still far enough to feel like we were unplugging. The renters were extremely professional and easy to communicate with. We highly recommend this cabin for a group -- it would have been fantastic for kids as well!

Jane was incredibly welcoming and gracious throughout our stay. This was a last minute booking for my husband and I, as we were evacuating from Hurricane Matthews. This peaceful retreat was the perfect way to turn a stressful situation into a vacation. We worked from the cabin during the day, and toured the quaint mountain towns surrounding the area in the evenings. A good selection of shops, restaurants and hiking trails are within a very scenic 30-minute drive of the cabin. The cabin itself was clean, well-furnished and pleasant.

Jane was an excellent host. Provided info prior to arrival & was on hand to greet my husband & me & our dog. Also checked on us periodically to make sure we were comfortable. This is a rural area near the Appalachian Trail & Roan Mountain. Easy driving to restaurants & shops in Banner Elk. The cabin has a nice front porch where you can watch the deer up in a small apple orchard. The cabin was very clean and comfortable, especially for the price. We would certainly stay here again.

Staying in Cabin is awesome experience, but having Jane as a host is priceless. Not only her cabin was one of the most awesome cabins I have ever stayed, but we found a new life long friend. We had great conversations, and cant wait to see our lovely beautiful host again. This cozy cabin is perfect for a weekend getaway! While being perfectly secluded, it was just a short drive away from local ski resorts as well as wonderful dining options. Jane is an excellent host - not a single flaw all weekend!

Fantastic cabin in a great location! We went to Banner Elk Winery which was located just a few miles away and had a great time. The cabin is also beautifully decorated and has all the amenities needed for a getaway weekend. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

Our annual Christmas Tree outing was made even more special with our stay at Boulder Ridge! This was our first experience booking through Airbnb so we were a little nervous about it. Working with Taylor took away any doubts we had. He was always quick to respond to many of our questions and his recommendations for area restaurants was spot on (try Bella's for pizza)! The cabin was even more beautiful than the pictures portray. The fireplace and living room area was so cozy. It was hard to motivate the family to get up and go out to do other things as we just wanted to hang out in the cabin! We will definitely be back next year.

Our stay at the Boulder Ridge cabin was amazing! It was our twin sons 11th birthday, and we decided last minute to take them to the mountains for some rad mountain biking. Taylor's place was the perfect family house. Were there amazing mountain views? Nope. Did that matter? Nope. Because the cabin made up for it. We went to the mountains to go use the mountains and that we did! And it was the most comforting feeling knowing we would be returning to this gorgeously decorated, and comfortable home. This was our first vacation locally (not having to take a plane to) that we have taken as a family. And it was fantastic. We curled up a couple of nights and watched movies with the fire going, after a really good home-cooked meal. The kitchen is fully stocked, you really don't need anything other than your food, drink, and a few necessities. My husband is from N. CA and I am from New England, and my husband's family actually has a cabin at Lake Tahoe, and I was kind of concerned that he would be comparing this to the house in Tahoe. And he did.... and he loves this place so much better (I won't be telling Dad). :) For mountain bikers looking for a great place, this is it! You are only about 20min from Beech Mountain, and Lees McRae college is literally 5 mins up the road, and you can use all their trails to ride. The outside covered deck is awesome for storing your bikes out of any weather elements without having to keep them locked on the car. On the day of the eclipse, we went to their downhill practice course. The college had just started, and some of the team was there practicing and it was so much fun to watch them. It was like having our own private downhill competition. They were super encouraging for the boys, and all the boys, big and small, enjoyed this course. I, being the mom, was there to document the fun, but was convinced to go down "just one time". Well, I went down all right, "supermanned" right over the handlebars, and hit it hard. Pretty banged up, and was very lucky to have not gotten really hurt. The best part was returning to the cabin, taking a long hot shower, and then climbing into the hot tub and soaking. I knew I was going to be sore the next day, so I went to bed, curled up in a cozy bed and watch tv. Waking up the next day I could barely move... but I was able to move enough to get to the awesome hot tub. Spent the day curled up on the big cozy couch, fireplace on, and Netflixed my day away while the boys went biking back at the college. I cannot image enjoying my trip so much with out the comforts that Taylor's house provided me. Once I started to feel better, we...

Great cabin near ski slopes and NC towns. We had a group of 8 for a weekend and were even able to ski in March. Really enjoyed the hot tub on the deck with a view, the big screen tvs in each room, and the well applianced kitchen to cook in. Taylor was great to communicate with and very thorough and professional.

This is a beautiful cabin in a beautiful location. The cabin has everything you can possibly need for a secluded vacation in a beautiful mountain. It is very close to Banner Elk, a gorgeous little town, as well as other beatiful and breathtaking places likes Sugar Mountain, Beech Mountain, Grandfather Mountain, Valle Crucis, Blowing rock, etc etc. The hot tub in the cabin is a priceless experience and the accomodations are top level!! Three Bears Cabin was absolutely lovely. It was clean and comfortable, the winding road that led to the quiet cabin made us feel like we were escaping into the mountains. It was a treat to use the fire pit and hot tub after a long day of hiking or biking. The cabin was stocked with everything we needed and the king bed was so comfortable. The town of Banner Elk was cute and had some great restaurants. It was close to outdoor excursions and we definitely recommend hiking the Profile Trail to Grandfather Mountain. We wanted to stay another week!

I love staying here! We will likely be coming back. The hot-tub was great, the firepit was perfect, and the location was remote enough to feel in the woods; but, close enough to resupply if needed. The wifi was also REALLY fast which surprised me. Beds are comfortable, most of the basics are located in the kitchen! Cons: The pictures make it look a lot more spacey than it is. I don't believe the host is being deceptive at all; but, just keep in mind that it's much smaller than it looks from the pictures in my opinion. The hot tub has trouble saying hot. This is the only hot tub I have ever been in though; so--it's very possible that I either wasn't using it correctly or that's just to be expected. The drive to the house is WILD. And getting up to the top driveway in anything less than 4WD is a little challenging. Not a big deal, just something to keep in mind.

Our experience at 3 Bears Cabin was fantastic. Prior to our trip from FL to NC, the owner responded to emails I had sent with various questions about our stay. His response time was generally within 15 minutes. Once we got there, the cabin was spotless. The hot tub was clean and in great working order. We did have some difficulty getting a front wheel drive sedan up the gravel driveway, but I believe this is mentioned in the cabin's description. 4-wheel drive is ideal, but was still possible in a FWD car (not in winter, obvi). Beds were comfortable. Overall, we had an incredible trip up to the mountains and would absolutely stay at 3 Bears Cabin again.

What an adorable home! We loved our stay here; the cabin was exactly as mentioned and we felt comfortable (and cozy!) in the cabin tucked away in the woods. The owners were so easy to work with and provided excellent customer service to make sure we were comfortable in their home. The firepit, hot tub and fireplace added extra warmth to our stay, where we were able to go hiking nearby, cook yummy meals and play games while watching bowl games. I would absolutely recommend this home to anyone else, and hope I can get back there someday soon myself!

We had a great time. The location is great in relation to area atteactions, and set nicely in the woods. The road up and down is very steep and winding which made some of the kids feel carsick. Hot tub and fireplace worked perfectly. Nice kitchen.

Our stay at Three Bears was wonderful. The cabin was exactly as described and included many amenities that made our stay great. The hot tub was a big hit; especially relaxing in it while the snow drifted down. Since we did all of our cooking at the cabin we loved the supply of spices and the variety of cookware. We'd love to return again.

We had a great stay at Three bears cabin. We used the fire pit and made smores each night and the hot tub worked well. Good location for visiting Grandfather Mountain, Linville Caverns, and driving along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The cabin was comfortable and a nice place to relax.

We had a great time at Frank's cabin over Labor Day weekend. Frank responded quickly to an emails or questions I had before and during our stay. The cabin was very clean and comfortable for my husband, two kids, and me. There was an easy to use gas fireplace, lots of peace and quiet, and the views off the back deck are beautiful! Mary is very friendly host who is full of information and suggestions for the area. She is very kind hearted as evidenced by bringing home a starving puppy while we were there and subsequently finding a good home for her before we left. Her home is very comfortable and private. it sits at the end of her neighborhood's road and looks out over the valley and mountains. The pictures don't do her home justice in some instances in that they don't show the beauty that is there. We were pleased that her home is actually nicer than the pictures. She states in her description that she doesn't cook but she did provide bagels, crème cheese, packaged salmon, fruit, orange juice, coffee, etc. and asked us if there was anything else she could provide. We prefer this type of self serve breakfast. We were hiking so we didn't need much for breakfast and didn't want to cook so we went out for other meals. Many good suggestions from Mary. Overall we had a good experience at Mary's place.

Calming and secluded is the perfect description for Tippy Top. The grounds are just unbelievably beautiful. If you are looking for a place to get away and relax, Tippy Top is your place. Everything we needed was in the cabin. We cooked almost every night. The kitchen had what we needed, including spices. Also, so much to do in the area you will not be bored. The drive up and down the mountain is not bad at all (we stayed in June though). Shelby was very responsive but everything was so perfect we only contacted her to let her know when we arrived and left. This is definitely someplace we would stay again.

We absolutely loved the house! It did snow during our stay. We didn't have any problems in our Honda Element but the roads were not in the greatest condition so they mean it when they say 4x4 and/or chains are a must in the winter. They have spared not expense making the house as luxurious and comfortable as a 5 star hotel. The beds were amazing, the towels were high quality, and the amenities were too-notch. The host was quick to respond, informative, and understanding!

Perfect mountain get away! Exceeded our expectations in many ways. Conveniently located in Banner Elk and near Beach and Sugar mountain but off the beaten path enough to enjoy all of NC mountains beauty and nature. Sat on the large deck watching humming birds and the chipmunks run around the manicured landscaped yard. Grilled dinner, sipping on a glass of wine. Wrapped the evening up in the hot tub then coming inside to sit in front of the fireplace and playing some cards. Look in a log home magazine and that is what Shelby and Tron have created. Cozy but rustic with top of the line everything! We own a home at the beach that is really two homes in one and are considering becoming a host. Shelby & Tron and their home will be the blueprint we use when that day comes.

Such a lovely cabin! Peaceful mountain retreat. The cabin was exactly as described. It is situated off a swirvy road and is rather secluded so I would definitely recommend NOT traveling after dark (especially in wintry conditions in the area). Very easy access to town and to Beech Mountain. It took us about 15-20 minutes to get to the resort. The cabin interior is beautiful and the entire home is very well maintained...plus the Jacuzzi is perfectly positioned off the side of the cabin for optimal privacy. We would definitely stay again!

Nancy was very friendly and offered to get us anything she could. We have known her parents for years but did not realize this was their place. Her parents visited us and it was good to see them. If you want peace and quiet this is the place to be..never heard an airplane, train or car while there. I was disappointed there was no TV reception, but it did state that in the add..I just did not read all of it. This is a very old cabin and has a lot of history that makes it interesting.

The place was great! Beautiful location and comfortable accommodations. Nancy was available for anything we needed and extremely kind and helpful.

This is a fantastic place for any small group of people looking to get away to the mountains but still stay close to Boone, Sugar Mountain, Beech Mountain, Blowing Rock, etc. It is a quiet setting with plenty of privacy, but also not very difficult to find either. The hosts were very accommodating all weekend, supplying chopped firewood for us after using the fire pit often. The scenery is beautiful as well, and the place makes you feel right at home. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nice quiet vacation in the Blue Ridge Mountains
