  • You definitely get your money’s worth out of this place. The bed is comfortable, the location great, and they offer a little breakfast. The hosts were also super friendly and helpful.

  • Lovely spot very near Gap of Dunloe. Viktoria was friendly and provided generous cold breakfast options. Short drive out of town but provided the escape from the touristic center of Killarney I was seeking.

  • It was fantastic staying here, the place was lovely and cosy with a nice homely feel. The room and bed were great with space to unpack and put clothing. It was nice to chat with Viktoria and her partner in the evenings and at breakfast that was kindly supplied with nice options. I would stay here again if passing through another time.

  • This is a special spot, near to Killarney and some incredible nature. It’s in walking distance to the Gap of Dunloe and Carrauntoohil, which is lovely as I was without a car during my visit. Viktoria and Spiros are kind hosts and super helpful in learning more about the area. I appreciated the breakfast each morning and sharing the day’s adventures with them. If you’re looking for a stay closer to nature and a place to rest, I recommend checking in here.

This luxurious country style House is located in the idyllic Beaufort countryside, only 10 KM from Killarney and 4 km from Killorglin. It embraces spectacular views of Carrauntoohil, Irelands highest mountain, a ten minute walk to Ballymalis castle and the River Laune which comes with free fishing rights. Perfectly situated to explore the county, National park and the Wild Atlantic way. The uniqueness of its location makes it perfect for a family, fishing or Golf holiday of a lifetime.
On arrival we would like to welcome you with home baking and some wine to enjoy with your stay. This tastefully old world styled newly built house (2019) replaces the original 100 year old stone house that has been in the same family for generations. The hall way links the open plan kitchen and dinning room to a cosy style sitting room and downstairs bedroom (N.B two fold out single beds and a 6ft double which converts into two single beds where required) with an en-suite equipped with a stand alone bath. Upstairs you will find a landing which connects two bedrooms both with their own en-suites and also a relaxing snug to read or spend time on your computer in peace and quiet. For your peace of mind and your possessions the house is equipped with an alarm system and a separate lockable garage for your sports equipment. We have also equipped the house with a child's high chair and travel cot.
Located near the historic Ballymalis Castle and the River Laune and with breath taking views of the Mcgillycuddy Reeks this is a wondrous location for a relaxing holiday.

    County Kerry, County Kerry, Ireland

Our home (a working farm) and The Cottages at are nestled beneath Ireland's highest mountain, Carrauntoohil. We are situated on the famous Kerry Way walking route and in the heart of the Reeks District. The collection of houses were some of the last in Ireland to be connected to the electricity grid (in 1978) due to their isolated location in one of Ireland’s most unspoiled valleys on the edge of the Killarney National Park.
A converted stone farm building with open plan design. The Cottage boasts a neat kitchen and shower-room (shower big enough for for two!), a living area with peat burning open fire and a galleried double bedroom accessed by a custom built staircase.  There is also a double sofa bed downstairs for you to fall asleep by the fire if you wish. Perfect for a romantic getaway, a trip with a friend or come and enjoy a bit of peace and quiet all to yourself. We provide a basic welcome pack of homemade soda bread, butter, milk, tea and coffee, and also first nights firewood and starter pack. The original buildings date back to the early 1800's but have been renovated to a high standard using local materials and in keeping with the traditional cottage style. The cottage is located on our 1200acre farmland including a private lake. Guests are free to roam the landscape at their leisure. There are 3 other cottages onsite but your accommodation has its own private access, parking and garden space so privacy is ensured.
The journey to get you here will take you through some of the most breathtaking scenery Ireland has to offer. You can choose to arrive via the famous Gap of Dunloe or the equally as beautiful Ladies View/Molls gap road. There is a small shop 5 miles away next to the Church, which offers basic food supplies but we advise that you buy any shopping at one of the nearest towns before arrival to avoid unnecessary travel and to make the most of your stay. The nearest bar and restaurant, Kate Kearney's Cottage is 10 miles away and offers traditional food and live entertainment. We are 7 miles from the Killarney National Park and Lord Brandon's Cottage, where you can avail of their cafe, boat/horse-riding trips and picturesque walks. The cottages are situated in the Reeks District with many popular hiking trails and was recently listed as one of the top places to visit in the world by Rough Guides. We recommend you book a professional guide if you are not familiar with mountain terrain. You can also book kayaking and rock climbing day trips in the area. While the charming the towns of Killarney and Kenmare are about 50 minutes drive away, our location and accommodation are more suited to those who are keen to truly 'get away from it all'.
  • This is by far my favourite air BnB I've ever stayed in! We went for one night just to get away from busy life and its fair to say you get just that when you stay at the cottage! The drive up is insanely beautiful, and that first glimpse of the cottage and farm yard nestled at the bottom of the mountains is something else. Everything in the cottage was perfect, so cosy, so relaxing, and everything you could need to cook is there too. The shower is amazing, and the bed super comfy. The wooden connect 4 was also a big hit, we passed hours with this. Can't wait to come back for longer next time!

    Angela2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • The most incredible place! Beautiful view to wake up to; very clean & cosy space full of personal touches and plenty of firewood to keep out the cold. We wish we’d changed our trip around Ireland and stayed here for longer. Thank you & see you again soon!

    Sam2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • That was an outstanding experience! The cottage is located in such a beautiful place! Away from everybody, in between the mountains. We didn't have a car and Ailish and the family were so kind to organise transportation for us from Killarney to the cottage. We wandered the mountains and roads around for several days and fell in love with the valley. In the evenings, we never turn on the tablet we brought with us, because we were enjoying the atmosphere of coziness and calm created in the cottage!

    Mikhail2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in 8 Air B&B places during our trip to Ireland and this was our #1 favorite. It was so clean and we could tell the whole set up had been thought out in detail. The scenery around the house and the drive to it was some of the prettiest we saw in the whole country of Ireland. When I go back to Ireland I will definitely stay here again. She also provided us with homemade bread and jam which was so thoughtful and delicious. If you stay here you won’t regret it!

    Ann2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, what an idyllic storybook experience to stay on Ailish’s beautiful sheep farm. I especially loved the personal welcome note, homemade bread, inspiring books and cozy fireplace. Thank you for a memorable and delightful stay!

    Tara2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • A truly incredible airbnb experience. The black valley might be one of the prettiest spots in the whole of Ireland. The location, while a good 20 mins off the beaten path, is centrally located so that you can easily make day trips along the ring of Kerry, the Dingle peninsula, and/or Killarney National Park. If you decide to stay closer to the cottage, however, there is much to see and do even if the weather isn't as inspiring as you'd like. Ailish provides details about nearby walks that take you to vista's other tourist could only dream of. And for those with a more adventurous spirit, the cottage is at the foot of Carruntoohill and Hags Tooth Ridge. Advice on getting there. We had a Renault Megane hatchback, and it was adequate, even in the foul weather. But a 4wd or something with more ground clearance would probably be better. This is not unique to this property, however, as there were multiple times on our journey around Ireland where we loathed being low to the ground. There are surprise bumps and dirt roads throughout the country, and often they are too the most exciting places; like Anam V! My advice would be a diesel Dacia Duster. We drove one around Iceland last year and it was economical, easy to navigate on small roads, and capable off road. You must try to stay here if in Ireland. The cottage is very well appointed, Ailish has covered every single base, the vistas are to die for, oh and the fresh bread and jam provided is delicious!! Thank you Ailish!

    Jake2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Oh my gosh! Do NOT miss out on this incredible stay! It was an adventure driving through the Gap of Dunloe to get to the cottage, and we were in awe of the coziness that greeted us! I cannot reccomend this stay enough!! Bring your hiking boots to climb the surrounding hills. STUNNING! Simply outstanding!

    Katherine2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place is by far the best place my boyfriend and I have stayed on our road trip across Ireland. The views are breathtaking and every little thing in the cabin has a thoughtful touch. It was romantic with the fireplace and with candles and bathrobes and it was a tiny getaway for me and my boyfriend! We recommend definitely using Google maps to get here. We used our Garmin to save our phone batteries but the Garmin took us to the opposite side of the mountain, which was an hour and a half away so we ended up having to drive in the dark. But, we had an incredible time here!! It’s a must-stay

  • This place was exactly what I was looking for. Self catering in a beautiful location. It’s a lovely hours walk into Killarney or an enjoyable 10 minute taxi ride with friendly drivers. The view is incredible, the place friendly and cosy and Lisa was helpful and very welcoming. After a days walk around the park I couldn’t wait to get back, curl up on the sofa and read a good book. On my second day I almost didn’t leave the flat it was so nice!

  • Had a fantastic stay here over the weekend, the apartment has everything you need, perfect for a couple! The view from the balcony is astonishing to say the least, it's not too far from town and next to the gap of Dunloe and the national park. Lisa made us feel very welcome from the start and made a few recommendations, she suggested going to gentling Thai restaurant and it was delicious, would definitely recommend staying here if you are thinking of visiting killarney. 10/10

Trish's timing was remarkable, she always manages to be on site and have a nice conversation and give lots of tips, but also withdraw at the right moment. It was a great experience if the Kerry region was always to Trish. You just feel comfortable, almost like in your own bed.

  • Warm comfortable cottage just out of Killarney. Elaine very helpful with directions and suggestions for sightseeing. Loved the wood fire. Eggs, milk, margarine, cereal, cookies etc provided. Easy parking off the road. Would return.

    Robyn2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful cottage! So cute and well maintained Elaine had eggs, milk and butter waiting for us so the next morning we were good to go. After a long day of travel the last thing that you want is to have to find a store and shop. Elaine was quick To answer all of our questions! Waking up to sheep just outside the door was wonderful, what made it even more fun was that one of the little sheep got out and was walking around the cottage next to ours. When we reached out to Elaine she was quick to respond letting us know that it happens all the time and not to worry. Unfortunately because of traveling during this pandemic we were unable to meet Elaine and her husband, but I hope the next time that we are in the area this place is available so we can book it again!! Thank you Elaine for making our stay special!!!

Elaine was a brilliant host, with really quick responses and had even lit the fire prior to our arrival knowing we would be late. The bed was really comfortable, with plenty of pillows and blankets. Unlimited fire wood was a welcome delight.

    Jonathan2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Elaine’s cottage was cozy and exactly what we needed when touring Ireland. We loved the rustic feel of the cottage and the location is absolutely breathtaking. Getting to hold a 2-hour old lamb was pretty great, as well! If you’re looking for an authentic Irish experience, soak in the views and the fresh air at Elaine’s cottage.

  • John, welcomed us despite being the middle of the night, helped us find the pod, he was very patient. The pod is really nice, it allows you a camping experience but with the comfort of an apartment. Beautiful!

    Ilaria2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Really fast communication helped me find the place much easier. The location was amazing with breathtaking views. Hospitality was comforting with options for lots of food in the common area. The Pod was exactly what I expected and needed.

    Mags2019-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice stay! The pods are very well insulated, we did not have sleeping bags but the host kindly lent us. John is very friendly and welcoming, and there is everything you need in the main building (shower, toilet, kitchen and even a 'snack' with coffee and pastries). We hiked to the lake at dawn the next day, the scenery is beautiful and the calm is very appreciable. A real good surprise!

  • Nestled in the foothills of the mountains this place is as scenic as you could want. Met lots of lovely people there to tackle the mountain as well. The tea rooms, showers and accommodation are all fantastic...you will really enjoy the amazing home baking and warm atmosphere when you come down off the mountain. Showers and amenities are great just remember to bring lots of euro coins for the shower and no cash machine so take cash with you. I will definitely be back to use again in the future. Big thank you to the hosts.

    David2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Not for those looking for 5 star hotel accommodation. But if like us, you're a happy camper and hiker, you will be more than satisified to have a comfortable pod to sleep in after a challenging day's hiking, and to be warm and dry in spite of the elements swirling around you!

    Oreena2019-08-06T00:00:00Z

  • My stay at the Birch Grove Apt was excellent, it was everything I needed for my hike up the Devil's Ladder to the top of Carrauntoohil. Anna left some milk and OJ for me, I felt bad I did not have enough time to drink the milk, and the OJ came in handy before my hike. It is a pretty isolated location, and not very far from Killarney and the Ring of Kerry route. The Gap of Dunloe, the Dunloe Ogham Stones and Cronin's Yard are literally right around the corner. I will definitely stay with Anna again when I return to the area and complete the Ring of Kerry or go to the Dingle peninsula.

    Robert2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Anna's place was perfect it's in a great location. It's really cozy and clean and Anna's a great host.

    Joanne2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice house a bit away from the traffic. Only recommended by car. Central location for exploring Dingle and the Ring of Kerry. Very nice landlord. The accommodation is highly recommended.

    Frank2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation is a kind of better garden shed, very clean, with two floors and full amenities. Anna and her husband were very nice and helpful. The communication worked great. We felt very comfortable and like to come back.

    Sarah2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • The house of Anna is just great. Here you will find everything you need for your stay. Anna and her lovely family are excellent hosts. Communication is quick and easy. We stayed in Anna's house for three nights and at the end we extended another night, because we felt so comfortable. Just great hosts and a really recommendable place to stay. Thank you for everything Anna! Bye for now!

  • An amazing place for our one night stop in Killarney. Marie provided us with an amazing dinner recommendation too! Hope to stay again!

    Kelsey2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We ended up arriving late however Marie had the apartment ready early as requested. It's a lovely apartment in a ideal location. A few kilometres from the gap of Dunloe and right on the ring of Kerry. On arrival, the room was in pristine condition and the homemade scones and buns were a lovely touch. We came prepared for self catering but there was milk, jam and butter in the fridge as well as a carton of Tropicana which went down well with herself. Marie was a pleasure to deal with. All correspondence was replied to in a timely manner and all requests from us were met. I highly recommend Marie and Alder House as a base to see Kerry. There is a lovely view of the mountains from the property as well. Only 10mins from Kilarney too. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

  • Lovely place, very clean and comfortable with some lovely touches!

    Ailbhe2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Sparkling clean suite. The apartment is directly attached to the house, but is very private. Kitchen is well stocked and has enough to prepare some basic meals as well as tea and coffee. Bed is comfortable and warm. Parking was easy and location is easy to find. It's very convenient for exploring the Gap of Dunloe, the National Park, and an easy drive to Dingle. Host is friendly and helpful, with quick communication. Highly recommended.

    Scott2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • We cannot recommend Marie's place enough, both the home itself and the surrounding areas are beautiful. We spent a very peaceful night here after a day touring the spectacular Ring of Kerry (consider taking a little detour off the ring to the Skelligs Ring Bray Head viewing point). Marie recommended Kate Kearney's Cottage for dinner where we had a lovely meal and the next morning we had some of the scones and buns that Marie so thoughtfully left for us. We won't hesitate to return.

    Rebecca2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • This studio has to be one of the best places to stay when wanting to visit Killarney. Marie was a lovely host and very thoughtful.

  • The place was great and exactly as described/depicted. They went above and beyond with extra touches like milk/beer in the refrigerator, robes/slippers in the bedroom, etc.

    Ben2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • This was THE BEST Airbnb we’ve stayed in to date. Everything was clean and organized. There were multiple amenities that we were able to utilize, and he left so many tips and tricks for us that helped make our experience in Killarney that much better!

    Joseph2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Noel's place is amazing! Extra little touches made this place our favorite! The bedding and towels were far superior to any other Airbnbs that we stayed at while in Ireland. It's small things like nice linens that make a big difference on overall comfort and feel of a space.

    Taylor2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • I’d a really lovely stay here. The place is very clean, stylish, warm and comfortable. I’ll hopefully be back later in the year! Really recommend this accommodation.

    Eimear2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay! Recommended! Too bad the weather was a bit too rainy for us to try the bicycles. Would’ve been a great extra!

    Louise2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing accommodation. Couldn't recommend it highly enough. We will definitely be back.

    Pauline2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • I've stayed at many Airbnbs and this is definitely one the best I've ever been to. Thoughtful touches of music playing on the TV when we arrived, local beer, bottled water by the bed, slippers to use, local tips and maps, etc. The kitchen has everything you need to cook including stovetop, oven, and microwave. It is large with plenty of counter space. The little living room has a comfortable couch with good lighting and a TV that can stream Netflix. The bedroom is very spacious and the bed is lovely! I feel that some Airbnbs claim to have a "king bed" but don't...this is actually a proper king sized bed. Plenty of space for me and my tall boyfriend to get some quality sleep. The ensuite bathroom is a little small but very well decorated with an amazing shower. Check-in/out was a breeze thanks to great communication with the host and a key lockbox. The place is located in a little neighborhood which is a quick drive into Killarney town center and right on the ring of Kerry. Overall an amazing stay! Wish we could have stayed for more than 2 night!

    Kristy2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Our only regret is that we could not stay longer! Everything was perfect. We even wanted to go back to the Airbnb early so we could use it! We can not say enough nice things about this place. Clean, stylish and the small touches made it perfect.

  • Amazing place, cozy and warm - being welcomed by litten fireplace was just magical! You have all you need to feel home, the kitchen is so new and the whole house is extremely clean and comfy! Also just a 15 min drive to Killarney so close to amazing hike spots! Really recommended!

  • Simply the BEST! I can’t say enough great things about Elaine’s place. We were welcomed to the beautiful home after a long day of driving with a warm fire and amazing views. The house sits in the middle of a lovely farmland atmosphere that faces majestic mountains. The home seemed brand new and had amazing touches to make it special. Elaine was so helpful during our trip giving us step by step directions with pictures to find the place and even recommending places to dine. The highlight of our trip was the Elaine arrange for her father-in-law to give us a tour of the sheep farm. It was amazing. Our stay was so relaxing and tranquil that we are planning our next visit for later this summer. I can’t say enough about this lovely home and the great experience that we had during our trip.

    Sean2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was a delightful cottage to stay in! With a lovely “modern with a touch of glam” style, the most beautiful mountain view out the bedroom windows, and a fun herd of sheep as neighbors, this is a winner. Close to Killarney and the Ring of Kerry, it also boasts a friendly host who is both quick to respond and full of tips about the local area. Other than a little initial confusion finding the place after dark, which was speedily resolved with Elaine’s help, I really enjoyed this wonderful little cottage.

  • Lovely place. Everything you would possibly need. It was such a convenient place if you're interested in hiking around Killarney national park. Super clean, with a kitchenette because there are not many cafes or restaurants nearby. The fridge was stocked with water, milk, coffee, tea, and oatmeal. Margaret is such a great host. We had trouble with the WiFi and she kindly came over to help. Also had trouble locking the door, didn't turn it up far enough (oops) and Patrick came by to help as well. They are such lovely people, gave us great tips about trails to hike up (literally located in their backyard)! Amazing time here, it is so beautifully located. I enjoyed the scenery and views very much! Pro tips: go grocery shopping for basic foods prior because once you're here you won't want to leave! Read all instructions carefully because I had trouble turning on the hot water, oven, and heater. The shower and bathroom sink hot water work the opposite... red means cold and blue means hot (or at least that's how I got the hot water to work).

    Anh2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great apartment and warm welcome after a long days travel. Hot shower, comfortable bed and well equipped kitchen made our stay such a treat. If we ever pass by again, we will sure repeat. Thanks Margaret!

  • It was very nice to stay one night here in the Black Valley. The accommodation is lovely and has everything you need. Margaret is a very cared host. She gave us also a lot of tips for our trip across Ireland, which were very helpful. Thanks a lot! We would also recommend driving from Dunloe to Black Valley. Nature there is beautiful and really well worth a visit!

  • Margarets place is incredible with unreal views. Come in early as the roads are challenging and not well (almost not at all) lit and make sure you bought your groceries before you arrive. Luckily for us, there were a few staples left Margaret is super nice and the appartment is super clean. Make sure to stop here as it is a great pit stop for the Ring of Kerry, gap of dunloe or Molls gap

    Isabella2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Margaret and Patrick's place was simply amazing. A great location for extended hiking in the Black Valley, Killarney National Park and the surrounding mountains. It is the perfect place to get away from it all. The apartment is very beautiful, spacious and cozy. Margaret and Patrick are wonderful hosts who went the extra mile, greeting us with yummy homemade scones and fresh eggs. We are very sad to only have booked two nights.

    Michaela2019-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent stay at Margaret’s. She was very hospitable and responsive to requests and questions. The house is located in a breathtaking valley just a few minutes from the Gap of Dunloe, which is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to. Killarney, Kerry, Ireland

Tucked into the hillside beneath the mighty Macgillycuddy Reeks, in Alohart just twenty minutes drive from Killarney, White Cottage Barn is the perfect mountain retreat for hill walkers, countryside lovers and seekers of peace and quiet, and a great base from which to explore this beautiful part of Ireland. Close to Beaufort, the Gap of Dunloe, Carrauntoohil and the popular Ring of Kerry. Perfect for couples or the solo traveller, but can accommodate a third person by use of the sofa bed.
Your private front door leads into a tiled utility area with washing machine, space for coats and boots, and plenty of storage for clothes. The compact shower room with large shower cubicle, toilet and basin is also in this area. Towels supplied. A semi glazed door leads into the main living area which is bright and modern, cosy and quirky. A fully equipped kitchen occupies one corner, with everything you need whether you're microwaving a ready meal or cooking a full roast dinner. A table and chairs provide a pleasant place to eat. The woodburner keeps the Barn warm and snug (logs, kindling and firelighters are all provided). A comfortable sofa bed and TV complete this space. A selection of books, DVDs and games are also provided for wet or lazy days. Patio doors look out onto part of MacGillycuddy’s Reeks, and the window has a pleasant view of Strickeen mountain. The sleeping mezzanine is reached via custom built stairs. Please note that these stairs are much like a ladder, steep and therefore not suitable for anyone with mobility issues - the sofa bed can be used in this instance. The mezzanine is equipped with double bed, bedside tables and lighting. It has low headroom (you can't stand up) but enough to sit up in bed and enjoy a cosy cuppa! Patio doors open onto a small, private patio with picnic bench for warm days. Grassed areas, trees and shrubs are complemented by a tumbledown stone outbuilding, and stone steps lead up to the lane behind the Barn, your own private gateway to the surrounding countryside and mountains.
White Cottage Barn is the last but one property up a winding mountain road in a very quiet area, but has a small food store just four minutes drive away, and within ten minutes' drive you will find three bars in the village of Beaufort, and the famous Kate Kearney's Cottage (bar and restaurant with live music in season) on the road to the Gap of Dunloe. Killarney with its beautiful national park and lakes are within twenty minutes' drive. Killarney and Killorglin are lovely nearby towns with excellent shops and a variety of places to eat. But you don't even have to get in the car to enjoy the stunning surroundings. From your front door you can wander out into the verdant green fields behind the barn, criss-crossed with ancient mossy walls and gnarly trees. Alternatively, walk up the lane and through a gate and you are on the fells beneath the craggy heights of Cruach Mhor and the Big Gun Ridge. Forty minutes of wild hiking will take you to two little lakes hidden away in a valley beneath Cnoc an Bhraca, or take a picnic and find a place to sit by the tumbling mountain streams and waterfalls. This area is off the beaten track, so you are likely to have it all to yourselves. Apart from the sheep and mountain hares!
  • Without a doubt we would come and stay here again and again. I will save everyone from having to read the same positive reviews. I'm assuring you if you stay at White Cottage Barn your trip to Killarney will be peaceful, relaxing and full of Ireland's finest country. Tessa and Steve have the most positive, warm energy. The cottage is incredibly clean, it's stocked with everything you need without feeling cluttered or overwhelmed. The suggestions on local pubs, restaurants and attractions are spot on and the countryside, cottage views and location to nature a pure dream. Our trip around Ireland ended here and I'm glad it did or I would have wished for such an experience the whole time.

    Stephanie2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • I strongly recommend a stay at the cottage. Between nights in cities like Galway and Dublin, a getaway at the cottage is relaxing and peaceful! It is clean and even more beautiful than the pictures! We recommend a visit of the amazing Gap of Dunloe and walks around Killarney National park (don’t miss Muckross abbey). Then, come back at the cottage and have a drink by the warming fireplace!

    Katherine2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We were warmly welcomed by Tessa and Steve's reception. Communication and check-in worked smoothly. The accommodation is equipped with everything important and furnished with love. The house is located quite apart in the mountains. Simply wonderful there.

We are passionate about sustainability and the environment and where possible, we use recyclable or natural materials throughout the site.
Farmyard Lane is in the heart of Reeks District, just a stones throw from the MacGillycuddy Reeks and the infamous Gap of Dunloe, and a 10 minute drive from Killarney. We are located two kilometres from the Ring of Kerry Road (N72).
  • The views at this location are truly like something out of a movie. By far one of the most peaceful and tranquil places I’ve ever stayed at. Kieran is quick to respond, very helpful at recommending local places, and the breakfast options were phenomenal!! This is definitely a place I’ll be visiting again soon.

    Matt2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • I wish I could give this place six stars. It’s an adorable little space, with such thoughtful touches. Kieran seems to be a really wonderful human being, and my friend enjoyed our stay in his place very much. It’s a very unusual place to stay (in a good way!), and I would certainly recommend it to anyone near Killarney National Park.

    Kamini2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Coolest Airbnb I have ever stayed in! The place was perfectly cozy with great views and a sustainability focus. The homemade brown bread was to die for!

  • Beautiful location and outstanding hospitality- would highly recommend to anyone looking to have a quiet relaxing holiday!

  • Kieran and Laura are amazing hosts. They were very thoughtful and greeted us upon arrival to make sure we had everything we needed during our stay. The cottage is located in a beautiful part of the country, not too far from Killarney, the Killarney National Park and Ring of Kerry (all in which we recommend visiting), just to name a few. Their place was sparkling clean, the bed was very comfortable, and breakfast was provided with homemade bread, other ingredients from their farm, and local coffee. 10/10 would recommend!!!

    Lauren2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Can only be recommended! It is a very nice property that is idyllically located. As neighbors you can greet chickens, a horse and a donkey. Nice hosts who make every effort to ensure that nothing is missing. You can cook in a trailer and then eat comfortably at the accommodation.

    Franzi2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Super cozy! Would definitely come back to stay here! Right next to the national Park too!

    Donny2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Kieran was so welcoming from the beginning of our stay til the end. He greeted us when we got there and showed us around, and even had a fire going in front of our pod in a little fire pit, which I thought was a nice touch. He also made sure to say goodbye to us before we left. This glamping pod was such a fun experience for my husband and I— we really enjoyed being on their farm and seeing the beautiful nature surrounding us. Kieran and his wife also provided fresh eggs from their chickens (which we also met!), fresh baked bread with gluten free oats, and honey from their own bees! So cool. It was so clean and the water pressure in the shower was surprisingly amazing. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a getaway who wants something memorable!

The property is located in a small exclusive housing estate, which is situated 2-3 mins walk to Beaufort Golf Club. The beautiful village of Beaufort, Co. Kerry is located, on the southern banks of the River Laune approximately 10km west of Killarney and 14km east of Killorglin. It’s an excellent base for touring the Ring of Kerry or the Wild Atlantic Way
The space is a secondary unit within the house itself. It consists of 3 rooms in total. 1 bedroom, a bathroom and a kitchen come living area . Guests have access to the large garden but also have their own patio outside the place. The space itself is self contained and has it's own private entrance. It is fully furnished, with tv, fridge, oven/hob, tea and coffee making facilities. Bathroom: Shower, wash basin and toilet. Beds: 1 king size bed and 1 single bed in the bedroom and then there is an extra sofa bed in the living area which can be used for an extra person or 2 small kids. Children are welcome and we can provide a travel cot/high chair if requested.
The Beaufort area centres on the pretty little village of Beaufort but has a wide hinterland encompassing the MacGillycuddy Reeks mountain range with Carrauntoohil - Ireland's highest mountain, Tomies Wood - Ireland's largest remaining indigenous oak woodland, The Black Valley and The Gap of Dunloe - a spectacularly beautiful mountain pass and a great tourist attraction since the last century. Rossbeigh strand which is also nearby, is a lovely long sandy beach ideal for family days out, horse trekking, long walks and water sports. There is a great children's playground here.
  • Great place, very confi and cozy. Highly recommended.

    Yasmin2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Claire's guest suite was AMAZING. Designed very well and very clean. Little coffee maker and kettle (although no tea sadly), beautiful rooms and decor. Very comfortable bed and beautiful view of the mountains out the door. Only issue we had was being woken up by the door from the bedroom to the main house rattling quite a few times in the morning. That in no way effected my love of this place and I would recommend to anyone wanting to stay near Killarney. Fast wifi, smart TV with netflix, youtube, etc.

    Kim2020-03-04T00:00:00Z

Great and prompt communication. You may want to bring slippers as the tiled floor may be a bit cold. Overall great place to stay

  • This is a wonderfully located and very well equipped cottage. Views from the cottage and nearby are stunning, the large kitchen has everything you need, there are four good size bedrooms and a single bathroom (bath, separate shower and WC). Everything was perfectly clean and in order when we arrived and Breda was there to welcome us. We were very impressed with the standard of hospitality - very nice towels and linen provided for example, and when we couldn't find the tin opener, Breda even stopped by to bring us a new one. A perfect base for some great hiking or sightseeing - highly recommended!

    Johannes2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place to stay. We loved our time. It's a warm comfortable Cottage. It's in one of the most amazing locations. Dan and Breda were very kind and helpful. The journey into the Dunloe Gap is a must do, as well as stopping by the pub for a pint that is a 15 min walk away. We would definitely stay here again.

    Wade2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in Dunloe cottage was just perfect. The cottage is located just outside of Killarney near to Kate Kearneys Cottage and the Gap of Dunloe with some of Irelands most breathtaking scenery. The cottage is very spacious and cosy and has all the essentials for a long or short stay. Breda and Dan could not have been more helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. Breda had left us some homemade brown bread which went down a treat after our Carrauntohill trek on Saturday. We would definitely return to the cottage, its a 10/10 from the Monaghan Folk. Anna.

    Danielle2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed for two nights at the Fern Height Cottage during our honeymoon across Ireland. It was a big space for the two of us, but we loved how close it was to Killarney and the Dunloe Gap (including Kate Kearney's Cottage). It would be a great place to stay with a family - plenty of beds and bathrooms. We also loved that there was access to a washer and dryer. The property itself was beautiful and on a small cattle farm, so we said hello to cows when we headed out each morning. Overall, it was a cute place and I would recommend it to future guests heading to Killarney, and especially so for small families.

    Kathleen2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful tranquil setting close to Kate Kearney’s cottage for access to Gap of Dunloe and an easy jump onto the Ring of Kerry or 15 minute drive into Killarney. Beautiful grounds and cottage like something out of a story and the wood stove was so nice to put on when we returned from a day's outing.

    Linda2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • My husband & I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay on our first trip to Ireland. Fernheight Cottage is so cozy and comfortable. The view overlooking the farm pastures really added to our stay. The cottage is located near Killarny so it was a great location for our sightseeing day trips. The entire home was clean and our bed was so comfortable. We really appreciated the amenities (fully equipped kitchen, washer & dryer, plenty of room to relax and enjoy our stay). I highly recommend Fernheight Cottage to anyone that is looking for a private stay in Ireland. Great location for star gazing!

  • What a lovely little cottage int he middle of the mountain ranges in Killarney National Park. My friend and I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived here on a starry night.

  • Great cottage on a completely remote location. Beautiful scenery. You have the whole house for yourself for a very reasonable price. I'd recommend it to everyone.

  • If you are looking for an amazing little cottage off the beaten path, this is for you. This cottage is for all the adventurers and is hidden in the black valley about 45 minutes from the closest town. Margaret is very responsive and attentive and had some fresh biscuits for us when we arrived. Definitely the perfect spot to hike and be in the outdoors

    Femin Jerose2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking to visit some of the most remote and beautiful countryside in Ireland you can not beat this lovely cottage. It is situated deep in the Black Valley above Killarney. The drive getting there is exciting and not for the faint of heart but it is well worth the trip. The cottage is snug yet large — three bedrooms, a large living room with peat/wood stove, kitchen with peat/wood stove and big leather couch, full size 4 burner stove with oven, large bathroom, washer/dryer, DVD player and movies, books, games, and anything else you could want. The bed was very comfortable (I was there by myself). I found olive oil, coffee, condiments including ketchup and lots of other food in addition to the breakfast left by Margaret and Patrick. As they say in their listing, you must stock up on groceries and on fuel for the peat/wood stoves before you head up, probably in Killarney or Kenmare (2 charming towns). Most grocery stores and gas stations sell compressed sawdust logs and large peat briquettes. You should also buy kindling or starters. There is a little cafe about 3 miles away at Lord Brandon’s Cottage. It is open afternoons in the off season until the end of October but other than that you are an hour from food. I spent a little time with Patrick who was very helpful and pleasant. Ten minutes after I got there I opened the back door to watch Patrick’s sheepdogs driving the sheep into the corral. It was a great start. Bottom line: this is a great place to stay and a real bargain. I would recommend it highly.

    Jack2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great location if your planning walking or site seeing in the national park and you can walk straight out of the cottage on to the hills. Lovely drive through the gap of Dunlop. Great hosts, clean cottage and all you need for a nice stay.

Private space offering comfy warm double and single beds in a bright and spacious attic room, with private bathroom in your own upstairs space. Tea/coffee facilities available in the room. You can read my books! We can direct you to various mountains, valleys, walkways, and Ireland's highest mountain range the MacGillacuddy Reeks (which include Ireland's highest mountain peak, Carrauntouhill). We are also on the Ring of Kerry, with the Wild Atlantic Way route and beautiful beaches nearby!
My space is upstairs in my parents' detached house in a quiet, private location with ample free parking.
Quiet location in the countryside, just 5 miles from Killarney Town, and just a few miles from Killarney National Park and various mountain and valley trails. We are 5 miles from Carrauntouhil, which has a magnificant (and safe!) valley walk to the base of the mountain before you begin the ascent.
  • This place was a true gem. Since Niamh is currently studying overseas we stayed in her cozy attic room while being looked after by her amazingly hospitable and caring parents. Communication with Niamh was perfect and we always got prompt responses to our queries. We were warmly greeted by her lovely mum Kathleen who really went out of her way to make us feel welcome and at home. Kathleen treated us with such motherly care and offered tonnes of suggestions regarding hikes in the area over a hearty home cooked breakfast. Niamh's room was the coziest place we stayed during our time travelling the circle of Ireland, not to mention very spacious and comfortable. The location is also perfect since it is just a stone's throw away from Killarney town (about 8 mins by car) while at the same time in a quite countryside road directly facing Torc mountain. It was indeed very hard to leave this place which started to feel like a home. I am sure that if I ever return to Ireland I won't think twice where to stay. Niamh watch out coz your room might have a new occupant when you return from your studies! :P

  • Niamh's room is cosy and spacious, the bed one of the best I've slept in years! Her parents, Kathleen and Paul, were lovely and gave us a true Irish welcome, spoiling us for breakfast and making us feel like home. The house is just few minutes from Killarney and any attraction in the Ring of Kerry. Thank you, hope to be back soon :)

  • We had a fantastic stay in Niamh's room. Niamh lives overseas and so you are hosted by her wonderful, caring, and accommodating parents Paul and Kathleen. From home cooked breakfast every morning, to the tea station, to the location, everything is perfect. You are so close to all the key sites and will enjoy having breakfast while watching the mountains emerge from the clouds. Kathleen and Paul were very kind and helpful with suggestions, and we really enjoyed getting to know them. We can't wait to come back! Thank you a million times!

  • What a wonderful experience! While we didn't get to meet Niamh, her mother provided us with the most caring hospitality imaginable. It isn't possible to describe how well we were treated, but it was incredible. She helped us book a tour, gave us great advice on local restaurants and parking, and treated us to an delightful breakfast. Just a fantastic experience all around. We felt like we were staying with family.

Farmyard Lane strives to balance the experience of brand new luxury pods with a mature farm located in the beautiful Reeks District in County Kerry. Nestled in the Orchard are two ensuite pods which can each sleep up to four people, each have a double and sofa bed and are equipped with a small kitchen. There is a small deck and seats are provided for sitting outside.
An additional communal kitchen and seated area is also available to guests. A barbecue may be provided on request. In addition to the two luxury pods, we can cater for extra guests in Farmyard Lane’s mobile home and camping space. We provide guests with Farmyard Lane's Breakfast Basket, including homemade bread, and eggs and honey which is produced literally over the fence from the pods in Farmyard Lane's Hen House. Our ethos is to source locally as much as we can, our pods were crafted in Lixnaw, North Kerry by Pods Ireland; our cosy throws are from Kerry Woollen Mills and coffee from Bean in Dingle.
  • Lovely space and host. I’m grateful for our time spent here, as everything went smoothly from beginning to end. We were kindly greeted upon arrival even in the cold, rainy night. It was sweet to enter in an already warm, cozy space with the most delicious bread and eggs we’ve ever tasted! My friend and I enjoyed it for a midnight snack and was even gifted more the next afternoon! We were recommended different local spots to check out. Perfect location to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature but not a far drive from the nearest town that was bigger than we had expected with great cafes ! Upon departure we got to meet their horse, donkey and baby cows as well as little Lily ! Will definitely be recommending to friends and family and if we’re ever back on the beautiful island this will be our spot. Thank you Farmyard Lane, twas a luxurious retreat indeed~

  • Kieran is very responsive and helpful with providing information to make the best of your stay. The welcome basket with fresh homemade bread, eggs, & honey is very thoughtful and delicious. Kieran’s place is a great place to stay! Close to the gap of Dunloe and good local food.

  • If we could give this 10 stars we would! This was a slice of heaven- everything was sparking clean, gorgeous, and their hospitality was outstanding. We’d come here every weekend if we could!

  • Don’t hesitate, just book it! Make this your base for your Kerry County adventures and you will not regret it. We stayed for 3 nights to explore Killarney National Park and the Dingle Peninsula. This pod is a fantastic experience and has everything you need. My husband and I loved looking out the window to see the farm. Description was spot on in the posting (accommodation, breakfast basket, supporting local industries, etc.) Hosts, Kieran and Laura are lovely and are passionate to ensure your stay is absolutely fabulous.

    Rachel2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place and peaceful . Beautiful on a clear night and sunny morning . Great chilled out and extremely clean

    Stephen2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Wow- couldn’t have been more impressed. The pods are a little more spacious than I expected, they gave us fresh eggs and honey from their farm for breakfast to accompany the other items they left for us. Amazing coffee from Dingle- cows, a horse, and a donkey just outside of the doors to the pods. Full kitchen nearby- I can’t say enough good things. If you need to stay anywhere near this area STAY HERE!!!

    Nick2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Kieran's pods are spotlessly clean, really cosy and brilliantly modern. He met us when we arrived and showed us around the pods and included fresh eggs and homemade bread for us, as well as keeping us well stocked with cereals and preserves. The pods are really comfortable and warm, and include an electric shower, kitchen, big sofa bed, and comfy double bed and plenty of sockets. The surrounding farmyard and countryside is picturesque and peaceful. We had a group of four and we were pleasantly surprised that we all slept very comfortably and soundly A lovely experience, we'll definitely be back to spend a few nights in the future.

Excellent to relax and unwind and enjoy some time to read (we loved the where’s Waldo book 😂), a glass of wine and explore the local sites. It is very close to the Gap of dungloe which is a must and the mountains. An easy drive to Killarney and an hour to Dingle. Highly recommended

  • Staying at Riona and Paddy’s was the highlight of our trip. Fiona’s hiking recommendations were incredible! We walked a loop through the Gap of Dunloe and it couldn’t have been a better day. We had such a great time chatting with them over drinks and learning about Irish culture. They are witty and charming and so kind and generous! The guest house was great! We live cozy attic sleeping nooks and wood stoves so it was perfect. There are loads of interesting books about Ireland and the area and we had a great time perusing them on the couch in the evening. Their restaurant recommendations were also great! The Sol y Sombra tapas place in Killorglin was wonderful -both food and atmosphere, in an old church. Really cool. We hope to see these two again and it was the perfect quiet location for exploring Killarney NP and all of Kerry. We should have stayed longer and are so grateful for their hospitality!

  • We had a wonderful stay at Paddy and Riona's place. The place was sparkling clean, felt like home and was filled with thoughtful gestures. The hosts gave us great local tips that made our trip. Access to the loft bedroom may be difficult for some, but was fine for us. Would definitely stay again in future.

  • I would like to take this as an opportunity to request Air BnB to reduce all of my former reviews by at least one to two stars so I can rate this one with 5 stars. This would be the only way to reflect how amazing the stay with Riona and Paddy was. From the very first second we felt hearthly welcomed. The venue was lovely and extraordinary. This stay will be forever in our memories as something truly special. Thank you so much!

    Kay2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • it was perfect ! we were greeted warmly. Riona had already heated up for us, so that we could make it comfortable on the couch in the evening. fresh bread, fruit and many other breakfast ingredients were ready. The cottage was the perfect base for our excursions

  • Mags was an ideal host: So warm and welcoming, a bastion of local information (hiking and otherwise), and made us feel at ease. The room was on a separate floor and felt quite private. It was also spotless, the bed comfortable, and the room had a pretty window onto a breezy garden. Meanwhile, the location is just ideal. It's a short drive (even walk) to an array of amazing hikes. It's less than a block's walk from a couple of great eateries. We had just a lovely time and would stay here again in a heart beat. Thank you Mags!

    Katarina2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Mag is a very warm lady who took care of us without being intrusive. Your house is very cozy, the room with adjoining bathroom clean and nicely decorated. The bed is super comfortable! Beaufort is a great base for hikes in the Killarney National Park, Mag has given us some great tips for this as well as our further journey. Thanks for everything Mag :)

  • Stay at Mags place was an absolute treat ! She was very welcoming and was able to guide us on everything from directions to the house to local attractions and recommendations. The house was very easy to locate and is close to Beaufort Village. 10 mins by car to Killarney Village and 15-20 mins to Gap of Dunloe. Will definitely return here when I get a chance Thanks Mags
