Places to stay in Lake Wandawega
Comfortable cabin perfect for getaways with friends or family. Relaxing, quiet environment on Lake Wadawega, 15 minutes from Lake Geneva. Hike, kayak, canoe, barbecue, fish, or just relax and recharge. You have this comfortable cabin all to yourselves. The cabin is a short drive to attractions like Lake Genva, Alpine Valley, the Kettle Morraine and Lake Delavan.
Do you want to relax, and get away from it all? This is the perfect place to escape to. Located 45 minutes from Milwaukee, or 90 minutes from Chicagoland- you can easily get away from the hustle and bustle. Make dinner and sit on the deck and enjoy the lake view- or go out to one of the fun local eateries. There is a private sand beach and a fishing pier just steps from the front door.
This is a Lakefront Cabin in a neighborhood that is a mix of year round owners and vacation homes. You will see people walking their dogs into the woods below the house and fishing off the pier, but it is normally very peaceful.
  • We enjoyed our stay! Thoughtful touches and great community reccomendations. We will definitely stay here in the future!

  • This place was great! Would highly recommend- even with some rainy fall weather we still had a great time

  • Wonderful place to stay! Next best thing to a treehouse!

  • A very comfortable stay at a cabin that feels like home. Nicely furnished with a cozy cabin feeling.

  • Kasey has a wonderful lakehouse with a great location. Only an hour to Madison and less to Milwaukee but you still feel like you've escaped the city for sure. Highly recommend anyone looking for a quiet getaway or those looking to visit/hike some beautiful lakes.

  • Really clean, cozy & unique house The taxidermy decorations gave it a special touch. The gorgeous views from inside make it feel like you are up in a tree house. House was stocked with all the dishes, spices, pots/pans needed for cooking/eating. Air worked great. Beds were very comfy. The lake is less than a minute walk from the house. The beach is very small, which was fine for us bc it was slow, but if it were a busy weekend, I can imagine beach space getting taken up very quickly. Only small area of water is actually suitable for swimming, as there are lots of plants and dense vegetation. I never reached out to host but she did send over many tips, recommendations etc. The deck space was our favorite! Would recommend & would book again.

    Sarah2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome place!! Beach area great and close by. Very comfortable accommodations. Kasey was great! Would love to return!

Family friendly neighborhood with other cottages in the area.
  • Great spot right on the lake with nice views. Worked well for our family of four. Easy to check in and close to the people we were visiting.

  • Wonderful week stay at Phil’s place. Very clean, stylish, and great communication from host.

    Catherine2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • The home was clean and offered all the amenities we needed for a holiday weekend. While the dock was unsuitable for fishing or swimming due to the water plants (really beyond anyone's control), the location still served as a welcome respite for a holiday weekend. In wonderful condition, I'd definitely stay again.

  • Our second trip to this lake house was a worthy follow-up-- this is a great choice if you are looking for a quiet spot on a lake.

    Dan2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great cozy, yet modern and clean lake house. Nice private views of the lake.

    Timothy2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Airy, clean, comfortable home in a quiet, serene setting with grand views of the lake and nearby lake access. We traveled for a long-weekend family wedding at a nearby farm with pond, and Phil's place suited our needs perfectly as a quiet, air-conditioned retreat. The interior is recently remodeled and everything functions perfectly.

  • Beautiful space - beautiful view. We just finished up a long weekend stay and were very happy with the space and the view. We like to paddleboard and were able to access the lake easily using the little pier. Our kids also took advantage of the association beach and pier and spent many hours jumping in the lake - It was just a short walk from the house. The views of the lake from the house are spectacular, and even though the weather wasn't fantastic, we were glad to still feel a part of nature due to tha many windows along the house. The house itself feels brand news and is very cute. We had six with us and slept comfortably. We hope to go back someday!

    Ellen2019-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Nice view of a lake and a quiet neighborhood. Lake Geneva, glacial nature trails, and half dozen golf courses are a 20/30 minute drive. Host is very responsive and house very comfortable. Only downside of location is that bicycling the immediate area was a let down. Only access to Elkhorn is by a very busy highway that is very discourage/dangerous to bike and there are no trails around the lake.

This vintage lakefront cabin is perfect for mini self-guided family/friend groups, as it easily accommodates a small group of up to 6. This cabin has 3 bedrooms, a half bathroom, a seating a room, a very primitive kitchenette & access to “his” and “hers” camp showers down below the cabin.
Please note: the airbnb calendar is the most up-to-date record of avails, so pretty please do not contact us via email outside of airbnb asking about dates. Please also see our other listings on airbnb. This private, vintage, modest three-bedroom cabin overlooks Lake Wandawega and is nestled right behind our Lodge. Like all of Camp Wandawega, it’s a back-to-basics, no-frills, primitive experience. Simple rooms, vintage furnishings. There is heat & a simple AC: but we like it with just the windows to open, and a lake breeze. Please check the weather before you come, and bring an extra sleeping bag if it’s going to be chilly at night. If you think of it as "camping indoors" and come prepared for the weather, you'll be just fine. Remember, October in WI can bring lows in the 30s! It has one large bedroom and two smaller ones. The large bedroom is suitable for momma and papa bear, it's the only queen bed on the grounds. There is a room with a bunk bed best and the third bedroom has a full bed, perfect for a single or a snuggly couple. The cabin can sleep up to 6 guests. We describe the kitchenette as suitable for making sandwiches : ) not "proper" cooking. It does have a vintage fridge, toaster, and microwave. But for cooking meals most folks use the outdoor propane griddle, propane grill, charcoal grills, and smokers. There's typically a no frills coffee pot there too (if for some reason the prior guests moved it, let us know and we'll get you another one). And we have an assortment of glasses, plates, utensils, etc. that you're welcome to use as well. If you need something that you don't see, please ask: chances are we have it elsewhere on Camp. We have about 5 kitchens/kitchenettes spread out across the campus and things tend to get moved from place to place, so we'll just need to track it down for you : ) Be aware that the photos are not 100% accurate, as things are always being moved around, redecorated, etc. but they are still indicative of the overall look-and-feel. We strongly suggest you come for a tour before booking so you know exactly what you're getting. If you’re looking for fine lodging, look elsewhere: this is old school cabin-living. If you’d like to see an unedited view of camp, simply search for us online , Instagram, Youtube and Vimeo to see us through the eyes of the many who have visited over the years. To support the ongoing renovation of this historic property and the largely philanthropic camp activities, we are continuing the tradition of making a very limited number of accommodations available for self-guided "friends-and-family" recreational camp programs during the summer months. Admittedly, the price is expensive for the primitive nature of the accommodations, so please please please set your expectations accordingly. Remember, you're not just renting primitive lodging, you'll also have access to the grounds, private beach, woods, communal spaces like the treehouse, campfire pits, sports courts, boats, canoes, smokers, grills, etc. What should I bring you ask? For starters, the camp basics. A few beach towels. Some Deep Woods Off. Sunscreen. And flip flops. If you have a favorite blankie, sleeping bag and pillow, bring them too, as I’m sure they’re more comfy that what we have : ) As for food, we suggest that you shop local. Bring an empty cooler and fill it up at the Elkhorn Piggly Wiggly and Frank’s Liquors. Or Wilson Farm Meats in Elkhorn. Or Rushing Waters Fisheries in Palmyra. Or The Elegant Farmer. There’s plenty of local produce, meats, cheeses, beer, wine and booze for appetites and budgets of all sizes. The nearby Mobil on Cty A has bait, food, wine, ice, booze and beer too. You’ll have access to grills (and campfires of course) and an old smoker we have on grounds. Most of our friends and family live out of coolers when they’re here, grilling out, and frequenting local restaurants like Holi Canolli, The Chalet, and Sperino’s. Again, we are not a "proper" resort, so if you require an immediate response, lots of hand-holding and attention to detail, then this just might not be the best fit for you. Before staying with us, request a copy of our “Manifesto of Low Expectations”. It will give you more insight into the casual, no frills (but charming) experience we’re offering. You’ve been warned : ) Thanks.
An old school lake community, about 7 miles outside of Elkhorn. About half of the neighborhood homes are year round residents while the others are summer homes.

  • This camp is very unique and true to the old school camps of yester-year. Our family stayed in Cabin 3 and had a lot of fun. The cabin was very cozy.

    Tim2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Camp was a very fun experience that we loved with our 15 month old. The 3 bedrooms were spacious and could have easily fit another couple. We hope to be back this summer!

  • Amazing escape close to Chicago! Hospitality was top notch and the experience was truly unique.

    Stephen2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • This was an excellent experience and lived up to my high expectations. Aneta immediately knew what would work best for me and she has a terrific sense of style. I also appreciate her dedication to supporting local designers and am impressed with the quality of my purchases. There was no pressure to purchase anything, although she gave me so many wonderful choices that it was very easy to spend more than originally planned!

  • I spent my bachelorette weekend at Camp Wandawega and it was honestly perfect! The grounds are honestly magical, and you need at least a few days to explore every nook and cranny. The Lakeside Cabin was SO cute with an incredible view, the greenery was lush but well-maintained, and there were a few different docks to enjoy a morning coffee or afternoon kayak ride. The treehouse was incredible and we used the axe-throwing and archery as a cute activity during the day. Seeing the stars at night on the still lake was my favorite part, no doubt. My whole group is thinking of reasons to come back as soon as possible, or annually. This would be an incredible venue for a wedding, by the way. Ashley, who coordinated with me, was fantastic. She and the owners were super accommodating when I asked them for a last minute request - and were laid-back about it even though it was a major change of plans. Thank you so much, I can't wait to stay again!

    Tamara2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful two-night stay at Camp Wandawega in the three-bedroom cabin. The cabin itself is adorable and full of vintage treasures. The cabin has air conditioning in the largest bedroom and in the kitchen/sunroom, which managed to keep the whole house cool on a few very hot July days. The best part about this cabin is its location in camp. We had so much fun swimming at the beach, exploring the treehouse, trying archery, and hiking in the forest. Our hosts made our stay exceptional - they were friendly and helpful. We plan on returning next year!

  • I greatly enjoyed my stay at Teryn's place, it was clean and safe. I would recommend it to anyone!

  • I enjoyed my stay at Teryn's very much!

    Alfredo2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Teryn's was an amazing place to stay! I recommend this place to anyone staying in the Lake Geneva area (about 30 minutes away). It's a very tranquil setting and peaceful place to stay. We brought our mid-sized dog, and he was very accommodating with her, even offering treats for her. He was great about communicating and got back with answers to any of my questions within 10 minutes any time of the day. There's a great restaurant (diner) in Delavan if you are looking for food in the area; the name is Elizabeth's Cafe. Thank you, Teryn!

    John2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Teryn was a joy to stay with. Rarely do you have a host that is so kind, easy to chat with, offers wonderful advice on the local area and suggestions on where to go, and offers a beautiful and clean place to stay. We brought our puppy and Teryn was so accommodating and even introduced us to a new puppy bed that Lola loved. We will definitely be back—thank you!

    Isabella2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Teryn is a rockstar of a host. They were so quick to respond to the questions we had before arriving and incredibly welcoming upon our arrival! Teryn’s space is so lovely - all the amenities you could need, a comfy bed, and lake access. What more could you want?! We highly recommend this space to future travelers! Thank you, Teryn, for letting us stay in your home :-)

We are lovers of "Lake Life" and want to share our experiences of Turtle Lake with others who love tranquility and time to reflect, but also want to hike at the Kettle Morraine State Forest, enjoy camp fires, tour local historic towns such as Lake Geneva and other sites, fish (including the best ice fishing in the area!), canoeing, paddle boarding, swimming, reading, and simply enjoying conversations with friends and family.
This is a large space with plenty of room for families to enjoy and spread out. Spend time reconnecting with all things natural such as lake swimming, kayaking, fishing, biking, hiking, golfing, and camping all in the quietness of Turtle Lake but also near more trendy areas such as Lake Geneva, Whitewater, Delavan, and Elkhorn Wisconsin for great food and nightlife.
Steps away from Snug Harbor camping ground and resort, you'll be able to enjoy incredible scenery and tranquility while also being able to enjoy a quick bite to eat and some local flavor.
  • Amazing place! Would definitely recommend !

Welcome to our simple, rustic cottage steps away from peaceful Lake Wandawega. It's a 3 minute walk to beach, swimming, fishing & picnicking and just a short drive to hiking, biking, skiing & horse back riding. Available for weekend, weekly & monthly rentals. Fancy is not part of the experience, so if your expecting bells and whistles, Stonefire Cottage probably isn't for you. We like to mention that upfront so we don't under deliver against your expectations.
If you're expecting high end, Stonefire Cottage isn't for you. Our cottage is a unique rustic space that offers beautiful lake views in a peaceful setting. It provides a spacious front and back yard with a fire pit along with a large wrap around porch and a screened in sun deck. There is a separate garage with availability to park up to two additional cars in the driveway. We are in the process of fixing up the garage, so we apologize that it is currently unusable. The interior has plenty of new amenities, but it's still rustic with lots of character and charm. It's simply a cozy place that feels like home.
  • Great space that comfortably fit my family while we were in town for a ski vacation. Cozy cottage feel with nice updates! Will definitely look to stay again!

  • We really enjoyed staying at Piper’s place. It was very clean and easy to access. She was very responsive when I asked her questions about activities to do in the area. Would definitely recommend!

  • Fabulous accommodations that are close to Camp Wandawega

    Shan2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had so much fun staying at Piper’s place this past weekend! We attended a friend’s wedding that took place at Camp Wandawega down the street (which is such a cool location for a wedding, btw!) and it was nice to be walking distance at the end of the evening instead of having to rely on a hotel shuttle bus. The cottage was clean and cozy and had everything we needed. Piper was very responsive and is an excellent host. We would absolutely stay again!! Thanks Piper!!

    Rachel2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Piper's place is just as described, a charming rustic lake house retreat - but with modern updates where it matters most, in the kitchen and bathrooms. The bathrooms were immaculately clean and stocked with soft towels and all the amenities. The lake is across the street and the neighborhood is quiet and tucked away. It was convenient to Alpine Valley for a concert, but away from the crowds. It was hot and muggy outside when we visited, but the A/C worked great and there were plenty of good fans to help cool upstairs. If the weather had cooperated, we would have liked to sit outside on the patio and porch, but my husband was just as happy inside with the flat screen TVs for watching golf. Piper's recommendations for dining we're spot on, and we had great meals at the Duck Inn supper club and Fiddlesticks for breakfast. It was very comfortable, we had everything we needed, and we felt like we were staying with family!

    Katie2019-07-21T00:00:00Z

    Kate2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great trip to Lake Wandawega and couldn’t have been happier to find this great cottage right on the lake. The cottage was even better than expected and offered a great home base during the wedding activities we were in town for. Piper was an excellent host!

The top level of this historic 1920s era bunkhouse/brothel is ideally suited for self-guided family/friend groups, w/6 rooms that sleep up to 12 max, "his" & "hers" restrooms, showers, a kitchenette, and a parlor.
Please note: the airbnb calendar is the most up-to-date record of avails, so pretty please do not contact us via email outside of airbnb asking about dates. • Camp Wandawega is a magical place. Explore everywhere, there are endless treasures and special places to be found. The camp management is amazing and super friendly. The lake is beautiful, catch a sunset in a canoe! And don’t forget to build a fire at some point 🔥

  • Our friend wanted a low key bachelorette weekend and Camp Wandawega was the perfect location for that! We loved the overall vibe of the Bunkhouse and the property. We had a perfect Fall weekend and can’t wait to come back in the Summer with our significant others. Ash & Brad were great counselors too! Thanks for the memories!

    Danielle2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place is cute as can be. While they stress the no-frills setting, it is an amazing alternative to camping. It was perfect for our group of 9. There are so many activities and the details of Camp Wandawega are so thoughtful. We will definitely be coming back!

    Ariel2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • There were 11 of us staying in the top bunk house. 4 kids ages 1-5 and 7 adults. The entire camp and bunk house were really clean and well kept, even with the vintage vibe. My son will never know what real fishing is because he caught about 100 fish off the pier that weekend :). So much for both kids and adults to to and room to roam. Ashley was very helpful and quick to respond. Will be back!

    Allie2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • All the great touches of camp, without the camp counselors. We recommend Camp Wandawega for families who live the outdoors and have found memories of camp.

    Rich2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Our corporate event could not have gone more smoothly. Ashley and Brad and Joe all helped make things comfortable and easy and were always available to answer our questions. Wandawega is such a magical spot for creativity, and activity and fun. Thanks for creating such a wonderful place!

  • Great lake house vibe with exceptional staff. Terrific for access to Alpine.

  • This was our second trip to Camp Wandewaga and the top floor of the bunk house. We had an absolute blast! The check in process is seamless and the bunk house is clean and comfortable. We hung out in the lake, played cards in the treehouse, cooked most of our meals on the shared grills, and hung by the fire at night.

This sunny guest room overlooks our north terrace and is conveniently located on the first floor of the Manor House. It has a king size bed, a writing table, and a full private bath with a walk-in shower.
This delightful room is one of eight bedrooms and is located on the first floor just steps away from our dining room, north terrace and perennial gardens. It has a king size bed and a private, full bathroom with a walk-in shower and a writing table.
We are located in what we consider a rural area (having moved here from NYC) and are close to restaurants, hiking, biking and ski trails and lots of activities.
  • Karen and John were amazing hosts. Their home is lovely and clean. The breakfast was amazing and they are extremely accommodating. I would highly recommend staying for any occasion.

  • Karen and her husband are outstanding hosts. When we arrived Karen gave us a brief tour of the house, told us it’s history, and took our orders for breakfast (which was fantastic). We only stayed one night so we didn’t have time to use the pool, but it was very clean and our room was beautiful. This is the perfect place for a relaxing weekend retreat. Thanks again, Karen!

  • My husband and I had an amazing time at Ye Olde Manor House. The location is great, just a 10 or so minute drive to Lake Geneva. Ye Olde Manor House itself is simply gorgeous! Each room is individual, and there are so many different things available to guests like board games, indoor swimming pool, movies and more. Karen and John are amazing hosts! They described all the various activities, and restaurant recommendations nearby. They live on the first level of the home so available to answer guests questions and concerns. They have wonderful personalities, and it was great to get to know a little bit about them during our stay. Finally, the food was GREAT! There were lemon white chocolate chips at check-in, delicious. For the breakfast, we had the options of 2 meals along with beverages, etc. The food was awesome, and we really loved being able to talk to the other guests at breakfast. Highly recommend!!!

Charming lakeside cabin overlooking beautiful Turtle Lake. Stunning knotty pine living room. Enjoy one of the cleanest spring fed lakes in southern Wisconsin. Excellent rural location that is close to charming towns and less than a mile from the Turtle Lake Wildlife Area, a few miles from the Apple Barn, Staller Winery and a new brewery. Bring a snowmobile, boat , hiking shoes or a good book. Fishing poles, kayaks, paddleboard and hammock available. Enjoy the sunset with a cozy bonfire!
The cabin was built in the late early 1940's and the lower level and bathroom were totally renovated in 2017. New Kitchen appliances and stocked for preparing a meal. The new shower was built with Spanish tile and Italian Marble.
Nice quiet country roads to walk, bike or jog. The lake offers clean swimming, excellent fishing, paddle boarding, Kayaking, canoeing, sailing and boating. There are two places to eat and drink on the lake. Historic supper clubs are a few miles away. Nearby gas station convenience store less than a mile away.
  • We had a fantastic stay at The Cabin at Turtle Lake. The view of the lake from the cabin was incredible. The bathroom and kitchen have been recently updated, with the rest of cabin still having it's mid century lake cabin charm. Many of the original doors, windows, and knotty pine wall boards added to the charm and character of the cabin. There was a great screened in porch on the front of the cabin. If it was warmer during our stay, this is where we would have spent a lot of our time. The two bedrooms had very comfortable beds and linens. Throughout the cabin there were books to read and games to play. The kitchen and bathroom were fully stocked. Having a full size washer and dryer in the cabin made it easy for us to pack light. This property really brought back memories of my youth and the fun my family had spending summers at the lake. The owner Bill was awesome. He was very helpful and quick to reply to questions. He made us feel very welcome and we enjoyed his personal touches, such as music playing and a welcome note upon our arrival. The local area is a lot of fun with many things to do. We spent the day visiting a couple nearby country wineries. We also found a fantastic farm brewery nearby. The locals are a lot of fun, very welcoming, and friendly. We really enjoyed talking with them. There is a family friendly bar/restaurant and beach on the lake within walking distance of the cabin, but it was being remodeled at the time of our stay. We missed it's opening by a couple of weeks. Kettle Moraine State Forest is a very short drive and has hiking and biking. Nearby towns are Delavan, Whitewater, and Lake Geneva. This cabin would is a great place to stay if you have snowmobiles, boats, and enjoy swimming. Snowmobile trails, boat launches, and beaches are easily accessed. The lake water is the cleanest I've seen. I personally like this area because it is not as crowded or busy as the surrounding lakes. We loved the cabin, area and lake. We will definitely stay there again.

  • I was in the area for a local race and was looking for a nearby, quiet, and cozy place to stay. Karen is a fantastic host who made sure I knew where everything was and kept the location very clean. She was also very responsive. I would definitely stay again! The place had a very cozy and home like feel which was a relief for before/after the race.

  • Karen and John made our one year anniverary memorable and unique. When you arrive, they'll give you a tour of their cozy home and you'll immediately be tempted to grab a magazine or book and sip some wine as you relax in one of the many homey rooms. Their property contains a giant garden, a delightful pond, and plenty of places to cuddle up with your significant other. Part of breakfast is provided from their vegetable garden and you can have as many cups of coffee as you want. Lake geneva, orchards, and interesting shops are a short drive away and when you're done you can drive back to the manor knowing you'll be able to take a load off and relax on a comfy chair in the warm, inviting pool room. When your stay is up it'll be hard to leave because the Manor will feel like your second home.

The adage that big things come in small packages is certainly true in the case of our town, Elkhorn, Wisconsin. Known as the Christmas card town after being featured on several Hallmark cards, Elkhorn is the county seat for Walworth County. As such it hosts many enjoyable events including antique fairs, county fairs, classic car shows, and the like. Additionally, our community has 9 and 18-hole golf courses, wonderful hiking, biking, and ski trails, an outdoor music venue, several terrific restaurants, antique shops, wineries, lakes for water skiing jet skiing, kayaking, canoeing, and boating and a semi-private sandy beach within 2-20 minutes of us. The surrounding area is the perfect combination of small town quaintness and rural bucolic settings where you can see horses, cows, llamas, lambs, and several varieties of birds as you drive, bike or walk while taking in the sites.

  • This home far exceeded my expectations. It was exactly if not better than the photos. Yesenia, the house manager was quick to respond to my questions and extremely helpful when I got lost! The home also was stocked with coffee, tea, milk, water and a variety of snacks so there wasn’t a need to immediately look for a grocery store. I would recommend to anyone considering renting this home. It was the perfect place for my family to celebrate my Mom’s 75th birthday. I will be back! Thank you so much!

  • Spread out & spoil your whole family in this luxurious cabin. Large families will appreciate the spacious kitchen, DR & deck eating areas & LOVE all the entertainment amenities. Wish we could’ve stayed longer - maybe we can come back in the summer. Yecenia made us feel completely welcome.

  • The house was gorgeous and the views were breathtaking... we had a fantastic time. We really appreciated how every detail was taken into consideration... something as simple as stocking the freezer with ice was so thoughtful and considerate. We are already discussing our plans for next year.

    Sherry2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved our stay here! Yencia stopped by after we were checked in to make sure we had everything we needed, the house was fully stocked, but I'm sure if we had needed anything she would have accommodated quickly. The house is gorgeous from the second you walk in with those tall windows and view of the yard. There is a huge island in the kitchen perfect for prepping and enjoying a meal. Not to mention all the outdoor spaces. The glass railing balcony felt so sophisticated, the walkout area with swings and chaise lounges was perfect for relaxing in the afternoon, and the HUGE fire pit was just the icing on the cake. I think my favorite view was looking up at the house from around the fire at night, I wish I could live here! The downstairs area was perfect for a movie night - remote recline sofa and the best beanbag chairs ever. We made use of the scrabble board and shuffleboard table, it's easy to say were entertained completely without ever leaving the house during our stay. The beds were all extremely comfortable and there were cozy throw blankets throughout the house. There were plenty of towels and toiletries, and even snacks in both kitchen areas. It is right off a main road, but we still felt private and secluded. We even had two GIANT sandhill cranes pass through the yard and fly back overhead!

    Annie2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is my 2nd trip to this property and it keeps getting better every single time! Yecenia is a very responsive and overall excellent host. The snacks, especially the home made bread cinnamon are incredible. I will be returning to this property, next summer!

  • We spent a weekend at the end of September to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. We hosted our two sons, their spouses, and six of our grandchildren. This was a perfect location for us - plenty of space, bedrooms, bathrooms. The home is beautifully decorated, it has just about everything we needed to host and entertain. Will definitely consider returning in the future. I strongly recommend this to you too.

Summer living at the lake does't get any better than this! Three finished levels of luxury accommodations, complete with three master suites, three guest bedrooms, and 4.5 baths. Main-level wrap-around deck offers expansive views of Green Lake; enjoy the views and a glass of wine from your private full size hot tub. There is plenty of space for the entire family. The Lauderdale Landing Bar and Grill just 100 ft down the driveway. This self-catering lake home offers the chance to get-away in style!
Lauderdale Lakes are located about 30 minutes north of Lake Lake Geneva and are comprised of 840 acres, 3 spring fed lakes connected by two channels. Great for boating, fishing, swimming. The Town of Elkhorn offers excellent restaurants, attractions and shopping and is located just a short drive from the lakes.
  • This house is located on a cliff with breathtaking views. We really enjoyed the hot tub and jetskiing on the picturesque lake. We had a small problem with the grill, but Alisa was very responsive and took care of it right away. The carpet could use a lift. We rented the place last minute and they were very accomodating. Overall, we had a great stay. This place is really nice and close to Chicago. We will definitely go back.

  • We had a wonderful stay with kids and family friends! It’s a bit far from downtown Lake Geneva but in a very quiet and nice neighborhood. Awesome outdoor deck with nice lake view and a hot tub! Kitchen has pretty much everything you’ll ever need. Bathrooms are huge and clean, but low water pressure.

The mid level of the historic bunkhouse/brothel has 6 bedrooms and sleeps up to 12. There are shared primitive "his" and "hers" restrooms, a communal kitchenette down below, and access to camp showers. 4 rooms with full beds, 2 rooms with 2 twins.
Please note: the airbnb calendar is the most up-to-date record of avails, so pretty please do not contact us via email outside of airbnb asking about dates. Please also see our other listings on airbnb. This is the mid-level of the old bunkhouse. Like all of Camp Wandawega, it’s a back-to-basics, no-frills, primitive experience. Simple rooms, vintage furnishings. Shared “his” and “hers” restrooms and showers. A shared primitive kitchenette. For all intents and purposes, there is no heat or AC: just windows to open, and a lake breeze. Please check the weather before you come, and bring an extra sleeping bag if it’s going to be chilly at night. If you think of it as "camping indoors" and come prepared for the weather, you'll be just fine. Remember, October in WI can bring lows in the 30s! There are 6 bedrooms and each room can sleep up to 2, for a maximum of 12 guests. 4 rooms with full beds, 2 rooms with 2 twins. If you have more than 12 then also consider the top level of the old bunkhouse or some of our cabins. Be aware that the photos are not 100% accurate, as things are always being moved around, redecorated, etc. but they are still indicative of the overall look-and-feel. We strongly suggest you come for a tour before booking so you know exactly what you're getting. If you’re looking for fine lodging, look elsewhere: this is old school cabin-living. If you’d like to see an unedited view of camp, simply search for us online, Instagram, Youtube and Vimeo to see us through the eyes of the many who have visited over the years.
  • Today we experienced an extraordinary tour with our guide Dane where we got to know a lot of the cultural and historical background of the Māori. Dane is an amazing tour guide and super knowledgeable. We enjoyed our tour to the max and highly recommend booking him or his cousin Tui-Kay.

  • Amazing and personal visit! I have a greater respect and understanding of this place we all call New Zealand! Grateful for the stories of family and the history of Auckland! It was an honor to visit this special place and gain great insights! An opportunity each person should be a part of. Nice walk in a beautiful place! Enjoy!

  • I had I lovely walked with Tui-Kay and I learned so much about her tribe. Very recommend this for people who like to meet the real local :)

  • Tui-Kay and Dane really went out of their ways to help accommodate my family in both time and physical abilities so that we could take part in this tour. We learnt a lot and really felt welcomed into their world. I highly recommend everyone heading to Auckland to take part! Even if you've got some other cultural events planned! It's personalised and awesome. Send Tui-Kay a message and you might be able to work something out earlier or later in the day if the listed times are difficult :) you'll be glad you did!

    Rammya2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Our family really appreciated the opportunity to walk with Tui-Kay in the gorgeous landscape of the traditional territory of Auckland. We knew we would have been missing an important experience of New Zealand had we not found this way to learn about Maori cultural traditions with an indigenous guide while in NZ. So, we were very happy when we found this experience on our last day. We were heartened to learn of the return to the old ways: to Maori language (beautiful to listen to), regeneration of gardens, medicines, housing, and education. Tui-Kay is a wonderful guide—so welcoming, respectful, informative, curious, and kind; the perfect guide who felt like an old friend by the end. Thank you, Tui-Kay!

    Jane2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • I felt privileged to be on this tour. The insights into Maori culture, traditional and contemporary, were fascinating. The location is beautiful. The guide was young, but wise in the ways of her people. She made sure it was a two-way conversation, encouraging me to share stories of my family and experiences. Now is a time when the world needs the wisdom of traditional cultures more than ever.

    Iain2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • What a GREAT way to start my tour in New Zealand. This way I know more about the history of NZ.

  • A wonderful learning experience of the Maori people shared by an actual family member. Learned so many interesting things. When you've had your fill of landmarks and restaurants I highly recommend learning more about the wonderful people who call NZ their ancestral home.

  • Came for a long weekend with three families and didn’t want to leave! Yecenia is an amazing host and the house and extra thoughtful touches were so wonderful. The house is spotless, so comfortable and spacious. Close to everything you may need but remote enough to really feel like you are getting away. We can’t wait to come back!

    Alana2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Atmosphere at the house was very nice and friendly. The bedrooms were extremely comfortable. All of our potential needs were fulfilled. We had so much fun in the basement of the house where a variety of games and a smart tv were available to our use. I especially recommend it to families and friends who want to spend time together as there is everything you could possibly need at the house to make your experience the most pleasant.

    Andrey2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Second time having same property. It’s amazing how you can see it’s even better than last we been there. I will highly recommend Yecenia to anyone want spend time in Wisconsin

  • This house met and exceeded every expectation that we had for the weekend! Yessenia the host was amazing and available to answer any questions so quickly. The house was so clean and beautiful and we can’t wait to come back again next year and hopefully continue this tradition! I would recommend Yessenia and the silo ranch for anyone looking for a fun and beautiful family escape!!!!

    Jayme2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • This home is exceptional and Yecenia was great to work with. Due to a problem with another home that we had rented, we found this home, contacted Yecenia, and she was able to get us into the home within hours. She was very accommodating and answered all questions. We weren't disappointed! It was exactly as described. All the special touches, from the water in the refrigerator, snacks and cereal placed on the counter in a cute wire container, popcorn and even dishes filled with candy. The kitchen was well stocked and nothing was overlooked. The home was very, very clean, and the bathrooms even had heated floors. What a treat!! Do NOT hesitate to stay at this home. We’ll certainly be back.

    Sharon2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • The place was outstanding! We enjoyed every second of our stay and had one of the best weekends of our life. Everything was clean and tidy, there is everything you need, the location is perfect, quiet. Yecenia is a truly super host! She and her husband are very nice people. They did everything to make our stay enjoyable and unforgettable. Hope we will visit this place again!

    Edil2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We celebrated my friends birthday for the weekend. The house was amazing, everything was new, the beds were very comfortable. The back yard was spacious and very private. Yesenia is a great host who is very responsive and had the house prepared for us with snacks and water as well. Would highly recommend this property for anyone visiting the Lake Geneva area.

These historic cabins are nestled into the rolling hills, overlooking the lake and private beach. The white "log" cabin sleeps up to two and the green cabin sleeps up to 4.
Please note: the airbnb calendar is the most up-to-date record of avails, so pretty please do not contact us via email outside of airbnb asking about dates. Please also see our other listings on airbnb. This listing is for 2 vintage cabins situated side by side, overlooking the lake and private beach. In our Cedar Cabin, the green one, you’ll find 2 rooms. One room composed of a bunk bed perfect for kiddos and one room with a full bed perfect for a single or a snuggly couple. The Cedar Cabin has double glass doors that open up to our cozy deck that leads right down to our private beach. In our Log Cabin, the white one, we have one full bed perfect for a single or another snuggly couple. Together the spaces are a fun spot to intimately experience what our Camp has to offer. Like all of Camp Wandawega, it’s a back-to-basics, no-frills, primitive experience. Simple rooms, vintage furnishings. Access to camp restrooms and showers. For all intents and purposes, there is no heat & only a simple AC: we still prefer windows open, and a lake breeze. Please check the weather before you come, and bring an extra sleeping bag if it’s going to be chilly at night. If you think of it as "camping indoors" and come prepared for the weather, you'll be just fine. Remember, October in WI can bring lows in the 30s! If you’d like to see an unedited view of camp, simply search for us online to see us through the eyes of the many who have visited over the years. To support the ongoing renovation of this historic property and the largely philanthropic camp activities, we are continuing the tradition of making a limited number of accommodations available for self-guided "friends-and-family" recreational camp programs. Most of our friends and family live out of coolers when they’re here, grilling out, and frequenting local restaurants like Holi Canolli, Lake House, The Chalet, The Duck Inn, and Sperino’s. Again, we are not a "proper" resort, so if you require an immediate response, lots of hand-holding and attention to detail, then this just might not be the best fit for you. Before staying with us, request a copy of our “Manifesto of Low Expectations”. It will give you more insight into the casual, no frills experience we’re offering. You’ve been warned : ) Thanks.
An old school lake community, about 7 miles outside of Elkhorn. About half of the neighborhood homes are year round residents while the others are summer homes.
  • We had a wonderful time during our return to Camp Wandawega! Its a truly magical place. We always love catching up with Joe and appreciate all that he does for the camp and its visitors! We hope to return next year with a new member of our family!

    Sam2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This was our third time staying at Camp Wandawega, so needless to say we love everything about it! It’s truly a unique experience, even the third time. Coffee on the lake and s’mores around the camp fire, can’t beat it! There is attention to detail at every turn that makes this place special. Thanks again Tereasa and David!

    Drew2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay, we will be back!

    Jennifer2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Camp Wandawega is an amazing little oasis on the lake. Perfectly designed and totally Instagram worthy. They had tons of activities form kayaking, to hatchet throwing to a treehouse. There were tons of places to explore and east access to grills for cooking. Everything is beautifully designed and evokes the camp feeling. I can’t wait to go back and spend more time at Camp Wandawega!

    Karen2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Camp Wandawega is a magical place, immersed in quiet nature, with a beautiful and respectful community of people, including our hosts Teresa and David. The no frills approach is what makes this place so special, and it was an incentive for myself and my two daughters to make ourselves at home right away! There is an enormous amount of love and attention that goes into maintaining camp Wandawega so special, and it was one of the aspects that made us feel at home the moment we arrived.

    Francesca2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Camp Wandawega. As someone who has admired the property from afar for years, I was excited to have an opportunity to visit and bring my family along! Our hosts were gracious and so very helpful - with very responsive communications. The property is just as pictured - rustic, but so very charming. Lots of fun things to do - my kids loved trying their hand at archery and hatchet throwing, and they especially loved the old tree swing! We had a wonderful time swimming in the lake and generally enjoying all that Wisconsin lake/camp life has to offer in summer.

    Erin2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • We were greeted with a great warm smile and delightful conversation! The tour we were given and the history told (when asked) was phenomenal! This place is AMAZING! The feel and decor and people are out of this world! I was expecting something phenomenal but arrived and immediately realized it would far surpass! The place is spotless, the cabins are so unique and so well done, the lake is calm and beautiful, the activities made us feel like we were young again and at camp and carefree! We are so in love with this place and feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to stay! Some of the best family memories were made here and we cannot wait to get back!

    Hiltbrand2019-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Camp Wandawega is beyond amazing and a dream to visit! Everyone had a great time. We especially loved all the places to photograph, the vintage aesthetic, the lake and nighttime campfires getting to know the other campers! We will be back! So many family memories were made! Thank you for sharing your camp with us!

The Rubye Room is one of eight guest rooms at Ye Olde Manor House.
This elegant room has a partial view of Lauderdale Lakes when the trees are not in bloom and overlooks the perennial gardens that form a border around the front and side of our property and our north terrace. It has a California king size bed and a private full bathroom. Ye Olde Manor House is a bed and breakfast with 8 guest rooms, all with en suite baths and an indoor heated swimming pool. We have a satellite TV, DVD player, and movie library in our living room and atrium and the Manor Suite also has a DVD player. There are several indoor and outdoor spaces to relax, renew and rejuvenate. Our decor is a mixture of antiques and classic new pieces designed for comfort and elegance. Guests can swim indoors while listening to their favorite music, relax in the sun or shade on our landscaped three acres, play games, watch movies and dine on a sumptuous breakfast. We are within 2 to 15 minutes of golf courses, hiking, biking, and ski trails, antique stores, lovely restaurants, wineries, an outdoor music venue, and a beach. We are across the road from 900 acre Lauderdale Lakes where guests can go boating. During the summer months there are antique fairs, classic car shows, horse shows, a county fair and a range of other activities. A full delicious breakfast is included with your stay and we happily prepare gluten free, vegetarian and vegan meals upon request. We are not near public transportation but have on-site parking.

With Turtle Lake being walking distance from my home, the lakeside oasis makes the perfect spot for couples and families to sit back, relax, and enjoy the the local luxuries Delavan/Lake Geneva area has to offer. My home is filled with a plethora of windows allowing plenty of sunlight to fill the area.
Since I do live right by Turtle lake, I offer a tandem kayak as well as a single kayak if you’d like to paddle around and explore the beauty it’s beauty. The pier where you can launch the kayaks is less than a block from the driveway and there is a small bar/restaurant, Snugg Harbor, that you can paddle on over to for a drink or a bite! We are only 10 minutes from downtown Delavan and 15-20 minutes from Lake Geneva where there are tons of activities and sights to see. My home is also located less than an hour from the state capital, Madison, and also Milwaukee. Besides the lake, there are many trails around this location such as Kettle Moraine, Seven Bridges and many other state parks and arboretums. Summer/fall time where we live is so beautiful and I can’t wait for guests to enjoy all of it! :)
  • Stay at Teryn’s place was the perfect choice for us! Teryn was very responsive to all my questions and came outside to meet us when we arrived. There is no mistake that she is a Super Host with Airbnb! Without knowing it, she had canvas and paints available and we happen to bring an artist. The space was clean and the two bedrooms worked out perfectly. I highly recommend staying here. Teryn has a great place even though we stayed here in January. I can’t imagine how awesome it would be in the summer! Thank you Teryn!!

The Wandawega Hillhouse sits on the highlands overlooking Camp Wandawega, on the edge of the scenic Wandawega Woods. It is a modern renovation of a 1930s summer cabin. While it maintains the original footprint and some of the vintage charm, it offers many modern comforts and amenities. The Hillhouse sleeps 6.
The main level is all open plan, including a living room, a large kitchen, bathroom and expansive deck. It's a space that's been beautifully decorated with eclectic vintage finds, warm leather accents & modern industrial details. A picture perfect spot to unwind & reconnect. Two of the bedrooms are downstairs in the converted basement, along with another full bath. The staircase from the first floor takes you upstairs to the loft bedroom where you’ll find two more beds.
Other than Camp Wandawega, this is a quiet residential lakeside community, so we expect our guests to be respectful of the community as well as the natural and historic assets.
  • Always Amazing

    Steven2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We made a winter getaway trip to the Hilltop House and it was fantastic! The house is better than the pictures and we made the most of the beautiful kitchen by cooking all of our meals. We lucked out by having fresh snow that combined for some fun sledding trips down the hill and a peaceful walk around camp. Highly recommend Camp Wandewaga and the Hilltop House!

    Alison2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic escape. Thoughtfully appointed. Gorgeous location (even during winter!)

    James2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • Wandawega was such a fun adventure! We were so thankful for the flexibility and kindness of our camp counselors Ashley and Brad and had the most fun time exploring the campgrounds and staying warm inside near a fire. The kitchen is stunning. The beds were super comfy and overall aesthetics and whimsy made for such fun fall/winter days. While the no frills applies to all of Wandawega, there were plenty here.

    Lauren2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about our stay at Hillside house at Camp Wandawega was absolutely amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and loved all the activities at the Camp. This is a wonderful Airbnb that we would highly recommend

  • Such an amazing weekend! I was so excited to stay at Camp Wandawega and the experience far exceeded all of my expectations!!! We plan to stay here over, and over and over again!

  • This is a very beautiful house and the hosts were great to work with. They were very accommodating and helpful. Anytime we needed anything or had questions they were very quick to respond and resolve. There’s a beautiful fireplace, an incredible kitchen, and things left in the house for us to use throughout our stay. The house is a great size for hosting big meals. I would highly recommend this property, especially if you’re interested in skiing at Alpine.

  • Karen and John are exceptional hosts! We arrived later in the evening, and they made us feel right at home and took us to our very nice room. The property is huge (3 acres) and is very well cared for and very comfortable. There are also so many things to do at Ye Olde Manor House, from playing chess, watching movies, getting in the heated pool, and just getting outside and enjoying the property that we found ourselves preferring to stay on the grounds over visiting Lake Geneva. Karen and John also make great breakfasts. It was the perfect place for our weekend getaway. We would definitely stay again.

    Andrew2017-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment we arrived, to the moment we left, Karen and John were phenomenal hosts and were excellent at reading the level of privacy we needed while providing warm hospitality and suggestions on what to do in the area! The property was peaceful and beautiful and was even better in person than the listing. The room was clean and well maintained, showing an attention to detail and customer experience rarely seen. It was a great experience overall and will definitely be a repeat customer.

Rustic and modern! A perfect, little cabin in an AMAZING location!! Just a few houses to beautiful, Turtle Lake! Fish from a pier, swim, or just watch the sun set over the lake. Alpine Valley & Nordic Ski Trails, Kettle Moraine & John Muir trails, Natureland Park, Whitewater Lake, natural spring within 15 min. Feel free to bring a kayak or raft and take it out on the lake.
The cabin is beautifully decorated with rustic elements, but has all the modernities one needs to feel comfy and cozy! Evergreens, lilac bushes, oak trees, raspberry bushes, and various other foliage surround the property. Views are great from any window and it feels like you're surrounded by forest! A large deck allows for BBQs and the private yard has a fire pit perfect for s'mores! The cabin is a quiet oasis nestled in an even quieter community!
This is one of the most tranquil, quietest communities I've been in. You may literally start whispering when you walk down the tree lined driveway! Sounds you may hear will be a multitude of diverse birds singing, firewood crackling, practice shooting, and the occasional chuckle from someone enjoying life to the fullest! LOCATION!!! The cabin is just 25 minutes from Lake Geneva, 15 minutes to Alpine Valley, Kettle Moraine (ski & hiking trails), 5 minutes to gorgeous Natureland Park (hiking and forest magic), 1 hour to Milwaukee or Madison (cool day trips), and 15 minutes to Wal-Mart, restaurants, etc. There is a super handy 24 hour gas station about 2 minutes away, where you can buy cheese/sausage and basic supplies.
  • Place was just as described and quite nice. Christy offered a lot of advice on various options for dining / hiking / swimming and even mentioned a really cool flowing well about a 10 minute drive away. Highly recommended.

  • Everything you need for a nice stay in the woods. Turtle Lake is just down the street, everything else you need a little down the road. Thanks so much for having us.

  • What a lovely, quaint cabin! The space is tastefully furnished and the 100% cotton blankets were a plus. We slept well on the sofa bed which was more comfortable than the majority of beds. We got good use of the wool jackets and fishing rods and reels along with the very nice grill for cooking fish and vegetables. The deck has ample space for all the visiting relatives to hang out while we cooked. The birds and chipmunks kept us entertained while having coffee in the morning. We hope to visit Turtle Lake again and will definitely stay at Christy's and John's if available!

  • The cozy cabin is just as described. We used both sofa beds as well as the double bed and they were all very comfortable. Great location for the Ice Age 50 miler trail run!

A primitive cluster of tents and cottages will take you back in time. 3 canvas platform tents, like you'd see at an old school Boy Scout Camp. Next up, is a mini a-frame cabin. Then a traditional tipi. Perched together on a bluff overlooking the lake and wetlands, on the edge of the woods. Nearby is the vintage stick frame Sterlingworth Cabin. No frills, no power, a short walk to shared restroom/shower facilities. And access to all that Camp Wandawega has to offer.
Please note: the airbnb calendar is the most up-to-date record of avails, so pretty please do not contact us via email outside of airbnb asking about dates. Please also see our other listings on airbnb. Wandawega Lake Resort/Camp Wandawega is a private friends & family retreat, just making initial forays into welcoming strangers into our home. So please bear with us as we attempt to try on our ill-fitting innkeeper's hats : ) If you require an immediate response, lots of hand-holding and attention to detail, then this just might not be the best fit for you. OK, you've been warned : ) GUESTS AREN'T RENTING a rustic campground and cabins as much as they are renting the entire old school summer camp experience, complete with self-guided activities such as archery, hiking, canoeing, fishing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, basketball etc. When you are our guest, all of the activities are included. The fact that we have no modern conveniences is part of our charm. If you're not sure this is for you, we suggest coming up for a visit and a tour before booking. This hilltop campground overlooks a pristine lake and wetlands, nestled within the historic Wandawega Lake Resort, aka Camp Wandawega. The platform tents are modestly appointed in period furnishings, including six WWII surplus camp cots, two per tent. The a-frame has two single sleeping platforms/cots, the tipi has two camping cots, as does the Sterlingworth Cabin. Guests will have access to communal restrooms (think porta-potty), as well as nearby camp showers. Outdoor grills and smokers are also available. As are a number of nearby restaurants, bars, grills. You'll be living out of your own coolers. Ice, beer, wine, snacks, etc. are available at the nearby Mobil on Cty A or Piggly Wiggly in nearby Elkhorn. The published rate accounts for $100 per person per night, up to 12. If you have a slightly smaller group, you'd still rent this entire cluster, but we can sometimes adjust the rate a bit to reflect a smaller group. Bookings available on a limited basis, primarily from Memorial Day to Labor Day, with some exceptions in the early and late parts of the season, weather permitting.
Our community is mostly residential, and rural, so there are no shops or cafes to walk to. However, there's plenty just a short drive away.
