Places to stay in Waterfoot
*As seen on The Great Staycation: Dot's Farm, BBC 1 HD* Alden Yurt is tucked away in the woodland on our farm. It's lined with hand knitted tapestries of native British trees and has a toasty wood burning stove, specialist thermal insulation and a comfy full sized double bed angled so you can doze off while watching the fire. Recline in the old wicker armchair and enjoy. The nightly price is the same whether you book for one or two guests Nosy at our farm on insta @cronkshawfold
*Please no smoking inside or in the doorway or near the yurt. The fabric holds the smell and it takes days to take down and £££ to dry clean* The yurt is well insulated and covered with knitted tapestries of the woodland depicting the four seasons - can you identify which trees? A comfortable full size double bed will be made up for you on arrival with sheets and blankets. The bed faces the glass fronted wood burner so you can watch the flames dance as you drift off to sleep. The wood burner is one of the newest designs available from 'Esse cookers and stoves' and heats up the yurt to toasty temperatures. We've had guests say they had to open the doors when it was -8c outside and snowing because they were too hot inside! If you are coming during a cold period please make sure you are a confident fire lighter - the stove takes a while to get going and you will get chilly if you can't light it. Bring a girl scout or read a Ray Mears book to make sure you're confident on getting the fire going and keeping it going through the night :) We provide wood for one night per stay. You can buy more from the farm or local shop, Nearys, in Helmshore. We also provide spring water, there's an urn in the yurt and more on tap in the kitchenette. There is a table and two chairs for eating/ painting/working ( please note the lighting in the yurt is not super bright, so for reading/ card games at night you'd need to bring a torch) space for luggage, a crockery shelf and a dog bed for visiting pooches (who must stay on their leads as we have free range chickens - sorry pooches, they don't like playing tig) We ask guests with dogs to make sure paws are wiped clean before going inside and that you bring your own dog blankets for pooches to rest on. Please do not use our blankets for dogs or allow your dog to get on any of our bedding. We really super appreciate this :) Around a 5 minute walk from the yurt is a small kitchenette with a microwave, kettle, sink with hot and cold running water, fridge and washing machine, there is no hob/ oven currently. Next to the kitchenette is a toilet and wash basins. These facilities are shared with our farm staff for brewing up and lunch brakes - this is a working farm so we can't promise they will be super tidy or mud free, though we do try to keep the farm chaos out of these areas! We're happy to talk farmy things with you should we bump into you when brewing up. Currently there are no showering/ bath facilities so people willing to have a flannel wash are the best types of guest for the Alden Yurt. There is no electricity but there is plenty of battery powered lights to illuminate the yurt and which are operated via a remote so you can turn all the lights on/ off from bed/ the doorway/ anywhere in the yurt. We also have silent battery powered dehumidifiers in the yurt to ensure their is no dampness in the air - the yurt might be made from canvas, but there is nothing damp or tent-like about staying in this little cosy home from home. As we're full time farmers and we're currently trying to expand the farm business we ask our guests to tidy up, strip the bed, refill the log bins and take litter home with you when you leave. We can't express or highlight enough how grateful we are when you do this. It really makes a massive difference to us and saves us so much time, which means we can offer our yurt at a reasonable price to lovely people like you lot looking to have a cheap rural escape :) 99% of people are fab and leave the yurt as spotless as when they arrived. Don't be the 1% who don't (or we will bury you alive in the muck heap! Just kidding!) CHECK IN is any time at all from 5pm onwards - it's self check in so it doesn't matter at all when you arrive. You won't disturb anyone if you arrive in the middle of the night after a night out/ long drive. Check out is 10am. Read our reviews if you'd like to hear first hand accounts of what the yurt is like. *Small note: The first 14 reviews for this listing are for guests who shared my farmhouse. I've now changed the listing offering guests Alden Yurt instead of my spare room* If you watched us on the BBC and saw we also have a hot tub, we're currently figuring out the best way to set up a system so guests can book to use it when they get here. It will definitely be available to use from March, but only ~40% chance we'll get it sorted by December (but we're working on it!) It'll cost £15 per hour to hire out the tub for 2 people.
Neighbourhood updated The farm is tucked away off the private Alden road, this is a quiet place to stay with no street lights shining in through the windows or cars driving past. A short walk away is Helmshore textile museum where you can explore the rich history of the cotton, wool and linen industry here in this part of Lancashire. The museum also holds the local farmers market on the first Sunday of every month. WALKING We are situated minutes away from a bridleway that takes you up to peel tower, which lends spectacular views over Manchester. Haslingden grane is about a 25 minute walk away and is a great spot for bird watching. There is a walk opposite the farm that takes up the large stone at the tip of Musbury tor. EATiNG The cotton house is a modern bar with a nice atmosphere some great cocktails and good food. A little further up from that is the local shop Neary’s which is usually stocked with all your necessities including extra firewood. We are a ten minute drive from Ramsbottom, a popular alternative town in greater Manchester that has some great eateries, The Mousetrap and Eagle and Child are fantastic places to eat and drink. It also has the only plastic free shop this side of Manchester, ‘plentiful’. Also hosts the farmers market on the second Sunday of every month. PUBS Back on Helmshore road in between the cotton house and Neary’s is the station hotel. there are no airs or graces here but it has friendly locals and the station hotel has a pool table a beer garden. SIGHTS There is a bus stop 25 minutes walk away that has regular buses to Manchester. There is a steam railway that goes from Rawtenstall to bury, trough Ramsbottom, (if you listen closely you can hear it in the distance on the farm) The link will tell you more information. http://www.eastlancsrailway.org.uk/plan-your-day-out/destinations/ramsbottom.aspx We are just 30 minute drive from Pendle hill, a hour away from the forest of Bowland and an hour and a half drive away from those wanting to explore the lake district.
  • Beautiful location, cozy and personal accommodation and welcoming friendly people. So relaxing and a lovely way to disconnect from the world. 5 stars ✨

  • We stayed at Dot's farm as a group of four - we booked the Shepherd's Hut and the Woodland Yurt. We were mildly concerned about whether we were mad for booking to stay on a hill farm in February on the third consecutive weekend of weather warnings, but it all added to the experience. Both the hut and the yurt were super cute, quaint and quirky. Clean, tidy and had everything you need for a cosy night away. We spent most of our evening down in the yurt with the log fire burning, playing board games and drinking wine. Plenty spacious enough for the four of us and it is just the cutest, most magical place ever. It warmed up lovely with the fire on (despite it raining and blowing a gale outside) and the little touches such as the vintage furniture and fairy lights make you feel like you're at a festival. A good night's sleep was had by all and we just loved the ambience of the beautiful farm in general. We'll be back in the summer and looking forward to trying the treehouse next. All hail the fantastic Dot and the wonderful Cronkshaw Fold Farm. Get yourselves booked in whilst you can!

  • Beautiful escape - all the best bits of camping (the countryside, a fire, hearing the owls at night), with a bit of luxury thrown in (a bed, guaranteed being warm and dry, fairy lights)

  • Amazing! So quirky, cosy & a mini adventure.

    Olivia2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended, Great stay. Remember to bring spare clothes to keep warm unless you can keep a fire going all night haha

  • Fantastic quirky stay over in the Yurt. Really is worth doing if you’ve never done anything like that before. The fire in the Yurt is stunning, keeps you extremely warm whilst lit but can get cold overnight as expected. Extremely friendly host and great to see them striving to be as environmentally friendly as possible

*As seen on The Great Staycation: Dot's Farm, BBC 1 HD* The perfect getaway for fellow outdoorsy families! Bring crumpets and brioche to toast on the fire while snuggled up on the sofa. Enjoy the stunning views across the farm and 'nature detective' activity packs for the kids. There's a double bed, futon single bed, travel cot, microwave, toaster & kettle. The hut is easy to heat with the electric heater or the fire. Nosy at our farm on insta @cronkshawfold
The Nature Detectives Headquarters provides a comfy double bed, a futon single bed and a travel cot. When you book just drop us a line with which beds you need making up and we will have them ready for your arrival. We made this place with nature loving families in mind so there are lots of outdoor nature related activities ready for you on the top shelf. Each activity is in it's own backpack so you can take it with you to go bug hunting/ nature colour matching/ bark rubbing and many more fun activities all with an explanation card of how to do them inside the bag to make life easy for the grown ups! The fold out table and chairs can be used inside or carried out onto the veranda so you can easily eat/draw/play indoors in the cosy hut or outside with views over the valley. There's a wood burning stove for heating and an electric heater for instant cosiness if you don't want to bother with the fire. Inside there's a kettle, microwave, toaster and a storage container for water. There is cutlery, crockery and a cool box. There is no running water - there is a large container of water in the hut for you and more water can be found close by along with toileting facilities though it should be noted there is no shower here. The Nature Detectives HQ provides the perfect simple get away for families wanting to get away from it all and live the simple life in the beautiful great outdoors. Uninterrupted family time where you can truly enjoy each others company. Guests who will be arriving in the dark/ in winter time who aren't keen on navigating in low light should bring a torch to find your way to the hut as the path to it is unlit. This is because we have an abundance of rare wildlife on the farm including bats and owls (which you will likely see) which need the dark to be best able to hunt for their dinner. If it is icy on the farm road in the winter months park at the bottom of the hill (unless you're in a 4x4, in which case 1st gear, foot down!) If you have little kiddies call us as we're more than happy to help you up the hill with your gear if you're struggling. Things to bring: A flannel/ wet wipes for washing and a towel Wellies CHECK IN is any time at all from 3pm onwards - it's self check in so it doesn't matter at all when you arrive. You won't disturb anyone if you arrive in the middle of the night after a long drive. Check out is 10am. • Great location, easy to find following host instructions. Wonderful views, amenities basic but fine. Working farm but also other sites with guests so nice friendly feel. But also quiet and ideal to escape the world for some rest time. HQ was so cute and comfy, worried a bit about not being able to light fire in mid march but radiator made hut toasty enough anyway.. defo stay here again

  • We stayed for one night wish we had stayed for more. Such a quirky place to stay, excellent value, lovely location with plenty of walks. We will definitely be back. Thanks.

  • We actually didn't end up staying the night as there are no wash facilities anywhere on site, this is listed but muggins here didn't read it properly and my wife had different ideas of a romantic night in a log cabin after a long haul flight. I can't fault Dot, this place is exactly what it says it is - just read the blurb and bring wet wipes!

  • A lovely stay. The cabin was very cosy and well equipped. Waking up to the view this morning was great. Highly recommended.

A nicely decorated and cheerful mid cottage offering a spacious newly decorated and insulated, light and airy private loft conversion bedroom and/or an additional king-sized bedroom in the heart of East Lancashire. Preference for Min 2-night stay, but may consider one night when convenient.
This home has undergone extensive renovations. Internal wall insulation makes it a warm and cosy home. A new bathroom renovation means the original bathroom has been split into two (see photos just added...please note, this is the day the builder completed. I will post new ones again soon). The attic room shares the family bathroom with the SuperKing Bedroom only (the second SuperKing Bedroom is to be booked separately; it sleeps 2 adults). Each room comes furnished with new beds. As well as a king sized bed, the loft room also has a new single bed (room sleeps 3 total) so the room is suitable for a single traveller, couple or 2 adults and one child, or 3 adult friends who don't mind sharing. Child place is free so book for adults and email me directly to confirm child booking (under 12 only. 12 and over, adult fee applies). In addition each room has a wardrobe, a set of drawers and 2 x bedside tables and wireless internet. Towels and bed linen included. Minimum 2 night stay preferred. Welcome snacks are provided for light breakfast. This is a great place for those who want privacy plus you get use of the all kitchen and laundry facilities and private parking to front of house. Outside: - Street Parking (private road, and additional parking at rear) - Small front garden, maintained by gardener. - Small back yard. Thanks for reviewing our page! Feel free to contact us for a friendly chat. We look forward to welcoming you. Safe Travels! Amanda:)
Set in the beautiful Rossendale Valley, the house overlooks a grassy verge, making it private but not isolated. Within walking distance of Waterfoot village, which offers local amenities including bakers, butchers, supermarket, hairdressers (several), aquarium, DIY shop, chipshop, various takeaways and quaint pubs; whilst Rawtenstall town centre has a delightful main shopping area on a cobbled street, a friendly indoor/outdoor market, The East Lancs Railway (steam train) and many popular restaurants, cafes and pubs, including Britains last temperance bar, Fitzpatricks. Behind the house you can take a walk along the Pennine Bridle Way as well as lots of other walks in the area including the infamous Rossendale Shoe Trail. Lee Quarry is only a short cycle ride away and offers great mountain-biking opportunities. The local Rugby Club is just a short walk away. There's even a drama and dance school in the village for those wanting to improve the dance skills or fitness levels; and many other activities depending on your interests.
  • Great place to stay, easy going and friendly host (Amanda). Spacious traditional house in Rossendale valley.

  • This a delightful little getaway at the shepherd's hut. Lovely, cosy and thoughtfully prepared space. The farm is really welcoming when you go for water, crockery, wood etc and to use the toilets. You definitely need wellies and torch! The work you can see going on in the farm is inspiring in their commitment to protecting the environment and in community projects. Young and old children will love this place 💖

  • Very interesting and beautiful place. Demanding physically - that's part of the joy of staying in a shepherd's hut. I am in my 80's and the mud slope was a challenge I was pleased to survive - not without some groans! Take wellies or footwear with good grip. Ice added to the excitement, and lots of snow as I left. That's what you want in the Pennines. Also, be good at lighting a fire. I left an easy start for the next person. I really enjoyed the solitude, though your cat did his best to provide company. I'd love to come again.

Peers Clough Farm provides bed and breakfast accommodation, catering especially for riders, cyclists and walkers on the Mary Towneley Loop of the Pennine Bridleway. A quiet and peaceful location within easy reach of motorway network
Peers Clough Farm is a 200 year old, former dairy farm, set in 70 acres of pasture and woodland, between Lumb and Water in the Rossendale Valley, East Lancashire, close to the towns of Rawtenstall and Burnley. Our old farmhouse is full of character and situated three quarters of a mile from the main Burnley Road East. We are at 1000 feet so have fabulous views but can also catch the weather! (good and bad!) We share our space with nature and Fell ponies!
Nestled within the South Pennines, Rossendale is one of the North West's most cherished hidden gems. An area once famous for its textile industries, down to earth folk and quirky traditions, Rossendale now welcomes a new generation of visitors to enjoy its rugged landscape and congenial hospitality.
  • Gorgeous and cozy farmhouse. Chris was so friendly and we really enjoyed our night here.

  • Chris is a wonderful host, the place is idyllic and very relaxing. Beautiful surroundings and great amenities.

  • A lovely quiet spot off the beaten track, Chris was very helpful and flexible without late arrival, breakfast was great and good value.

    Phil2019-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Chris's place with my mother and we loved it! It is a bit of remote place so you need a car to get there but once you arrive you are most warmly greeted and the views of surrounding hills are just amazing (although I've only seen them in rain :)). Chris has been amazing host - greeted us, showed us around and was there for all our million questions. Room was cosy and clean and breakfast was amazing. I would definitely recommend it and if I ever get back to that part of the country, I will definitely stay again.

We like to think that our guests feel they are staying in a home away from home. With a very relaxed and welcoming environment.
We live in a great location - whether you want to go on a walk up the hills, to a country pub, cycle the Liverpool/Leeds canal paths or jump on the motorway and go into the City. If you would like to stay local, there are at least 6 pubs on our street (within a ten minute walk). Plenty have live music, sports TV, pool tables, quiz nights, etc. There are also a number of places to go out to eat, or if you prefer to get a take-away. We're more than happy to give some of our favourite suggestions :)

The Giraffe house, in the middle of everywhere, nestled in the valley surrounded by hills and sky. Clean, spacious and purpose-built that can accommodate adults and children, dog friendly, with a secure garden and private parking. With its high ceiling, friends, on their first visit, exclaimed the room was tall enough to house giraffes and the nickname has stuck since! Please note, there is a microwave, toaster and kettle. No oven or hob. https://giraffe.house/
The step-free access has a bi-fold door that opens out to a patio area with seating and a table. Overlooking a garden roof, hill, and sky. Inside is one large space with an ensuite, we provide a comfortable king-size bed, a large sofa and dining area. The shower room is generous, no need to bring soap or shampoo.
A short walk away from a thriving town, with many places to eat and shop. Great dog-friendly coffee shop, Syphon, serves stunning homemade cakes.
  • Great welcome. Good communication. Immaculate condition, Super comfortable place to stay in easy reach of everywhere.

  • This is a stunning place to stay ! Everything about it is quality and has been thought about,we loved the velux windows , the gorgeous shower and the underfloor heating. I really think the owners could and should charge a bit more because it's worth it. We visited hebden bridge and hardcastle crags which are well worth the 30 min drive even in the winter and I imagine wonderful in the summer. I caught the bus just outside the property to the local market which was quirky and alot of fun then walked back which took about 15 mins.We used the local chippy for tea they were so nice and the food was lovely. The property is very dog friendly and our beagle loved it . The only thing I would change is the garden although pretty secure is not beagle proof as the fence had a small open place which he would have made a bee line for so we kept him on a lead. I have to say most dogs would be fine in this garden but ours likes to escape ! There is a park literally 1 min away aswell. We loved our stay and will book again.

  • Much better than expected and the photos don't do this place justice! I am very picky when it comes to Airbnb stays, but I felt so comfortable during my two night stay here. The underfloor heating was a great plus and warmed up the place fabulously. It was sparkling clean, which is always nice and so many thoughtful touches such as extra power points next to the bed. The WiFi was super fast and it was perfect for my needs. Yes the kitchen is basic but everything provided was of really high quality so I didn't feel that I had missed out in any way

The place is a stone built cottage and features fires in living and dining area. Good sized well equiped kitchen which guests have use of. Huge bedroom with king size bed. Bathroom has corner bath and excellent shower. Use of washing machine. Views over Holcombe hill and scout moor. Great walking to be had straight out of the door.
Close to Ramsbottom centre which has some of the best Restaurants and bars in North Manchester. Fantastic walks on the doorstep plus the steam train (East lands Railway) is in Ramsbottom. Cosy real fire for a warm after those country walks.
Ramsbottom is fast becoming one of the best places to live if you like a balance of quiet rural countryside yet with a wealth of great bars and restaurants. We even have our own music festival!

On site there is a lovely communal 'Island' accessed by a charming wooden bridge over a brook. The Island, with weeping willows around its border, is a great place to unwind and appreciate the tranquility that the area has to offer. It has a campfire/BBQ area by the stream.

You will also find a slew of country walks all winding through the rolling hillocks and reservoirs of the Rossendale Valley. Rossendale Holidays offers hill views from the property. The local pub is a 10-minute walk away, offering traditional home cooked meals.

  • We had a great stay at this studio cottage. It was spotlessly clean, and the inside was exactly as pictured: very nicely decorated and with everything that we needed. It was in a good location for walks, and the staff were very helpful in providing recommendations for the local area. We were also able to check in early, which we really appreciated. The gardens and communal areas are lovely, and there is a café which can be used for drinks and snacks, and also provides alcohol. We also loved seeing Ross the cat! The studio was located on a site with around 8 other studios/cottages and around 4 small glamping pods. The weekend that we stayed all of the accommodation was fully booked, and we were told by the staff that the majority of the guests were a large group of families who were visiting together. We didn't hear anything at all from them when we were back in our room for the night. However, as the group comprised of approximately 30 adults and children, who were all using the communal space/fire-pit/barbeque area, we were unable to make use of this space. They were kind enough to invite us to join them, but as they all knew each other and were meeting for an overdue catch-up, and we were hoping for a more private/quiet weekend away as a couple, rather than a social event, we declined. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would love to come back. However, we would have appreciated more transparency about the nature of the property, i.e. that it is part of a larger glamorous camp site. As mentioned in another comment, we were expecting from the description that this would be a more private cottage with a communal area, ideal for a "couples retreat" rather than one that is extremely close to a large number of other properties, which may be let out to large parties. Overall, we would recommend this property to anyone who is looking for somewhere spotlessly clean, with great amenities but who doesn't mind sharing the space with others. It would be fantastic for a young family.

  • We had a great time at Paul's place. It was beautiful, close to town but in a rural setting, walking and outdoor trails close by. It was the perfect size for us, 5 adults. I would definitely recommend his house to anyone looking for a place like this.

  • A beautiful cottage in an absolutely stunning location. Hosts are very welcoming and friendly which made the entire experience that much better. The place is very clean and tidy, with plenty of amenities to make the stay comfortable and feel like home.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hindle Pastures. The cottage was amazing and exactly what we were looking for. In the countryside, yet not too far away from the local town and amenities. As a family of 6 we had plenty of room and had everything we needed. TV and Internet worked great ad in fact the internet was way faster than our home back in the USA. Linens, ironing board and every other thing you tend to worry about was taken care of. We couldn't have asked for a better vacation! The hosts Paul and Gill greeted us and stated they were there if we needed them at any time throughout the stay. There was a welcome pack waiting for us and also lots of guides about the local area. We had everything we needed and it was truly a home away from home for the 7 nights we were there. If we could leave 6 stars we would!

    Carlos2019-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Hindle Pastures is the Place for your family. It has a very British vibe, like you are living the best of England. 😁 Highly recommended! If you have a car, stay here and it's fun to drive to Manchester or Liverpool. Even enjoy local place like Hebden Bridge.

The nest box is a bedsit type room in the garden ( bathroom in main house). It provides a high quality base with the countryside and wild life on your door step. It is prefect for visiting the valley, or attending a concert in Manchester. Yorkshire is a 30 min drive away and you are an hour from Chester oaks shopping outlet and lytham festival.
Coziness is key in your base, it is with heater and a quality bed so you get the best sleep. A kettle will provide you with a hot drink and a small fridge that greets you with water, wine and chocolate biscuits. Extra blankets and a cosy hot water bottle will keep you cosy when the wind gets up from off the hills. MAIN BATHROOM is upstairs. Toilet and sink downstairs
Living within the Rossendale valley on the doorstep to pennine way and the country side.

Normally, these are utilized by us, but we can leave them empty if storage is required. A shared family bathroom is immediately next to the room. There is free wireless internet connection available throughout the house (bear in mind there's no TV in the room, most guests watch movies and TV through their laptop but you're welcome to watch TV with us in the living room). Drinks and snacks can be provided to be taken in the room as desired. We do not provide a cooked breakfast but you will be able to help yourself to toast and cereal and other meals can be provided if required. Vegetarians and Vegans can be catered for. Clean and fresh towels and bed linen will be provided. Pets are welcome (within reason!).
*Please note: AirBnB does not necessarily show you the property nearest to your search criteria, so please check that Broadclough Farm is actually where you want to stay before booking* Broadclough Farm is located in the heart of the East Lancashire Moors, on the edge of the beautiful Rossendale Valley. Situated about a mile out of Bacup proper, Broadclough is a small hamlet whose name literally means broad valley; it has the feel of a rural hamlet whilst being within walking distance of the amenities of Bacup. English Heritage proclaimed Bacup to be the best preserved cotton town in England. It's a quiet and sleepy place with a high street full of local shops. Plus it retains many of the quirky folk festivities (such as the Britannia Coconutters beating the bounds) that most other places have lost over the last 60 years. For many, Bacup is becoming a destination in it's own right. The East Lancashire Railway is a heritage railway located around 5 miles away in Rawtenstall. The railways is a great day out and sees steam trains and other locomotives taking passengers to Heywood in Greater Manchester (from where you can easily jump on the Metrolink into Manchester centre if you wanted). Within minutes' walk from the house, you'll find some Dark Age earthworks, called Broadclough Dykes. The dykes are associated with the Battle of Brannaburg, one of the most important battle's in the history of the British Isles. The battle saw Anglo-Saxon King Æthelstan, grandson of Alfred the Great (who ruled the English kingdoms), defeat an army made up of Welsh, Scots, Irish and Vikings, following his annexation of Kingdom of Northumberland. Leading Æthelstan to be regarded by most, as the first King of England. Rossendale has the densest network of public rights of way in Lancashire and Broadclough is the perfect place to set out hiking from. So you can go off rambling over the moors and through the cloughs (valleys) to your hearts content if that's what you fancy. We're in an out of the way, although easily accessible, location; if you're looking for somewhere in the heart of a town or city then we're probably not the right place for you. Having said that, although we do back onto the moors, we're not in a completely isolated spot. Whether you're looking for a summer holiday, a winter break or just want a night or two away, we hope you'll consider staying with us at Broadclough Farm and enjoy what we and the area has to offer.

Ramsbottom has been voted in the top 10 of places to live. It has lots restaurants, cafes, bars and a steam railway to boot! Lilwyn Cottage is nestled in a rural area away from the hustle and bustle. No. 33 is within a terrace of 11 stone cottages. A cosy 2 bedroom cottage with original features, updated to modern standards, a log burning stove and gardens front and rear. 20 minute walk into Ramsbottom or 5/10 mins by car. Accessible for Manchester and Lancashire dales-Pendle Hill and more.
Come kick off your shoes and rest a while! Double guest room in shared cottage. Suitable for couples, solo adult and one child, and female only solo travellers. The guest bedroom has a single bed that has a trundle under to convert as a twin or a double. This is also my sewing/craft room. Please note that there are open stairs from the bedroom into the private loft room/office space. This I have listed as not suitable for children because of this open stair access. Chat with me prior to having your booking confirmed, if you are a single parent travelling with a child. Your child would have to be supervised at all times. ID required and ideally reviews required prior to booking but new Air bandb travellers are welcome too! Pet friendly, but if bringing a pet, this must be verified and approved prior to a booking being confirmed please. A dog and 2 cats already live here. Being an avid traveller and user of Air b and b myself, I know sometimes you want to chat and other times, you just want to flop into bed! You do what you need to do and relax! 😊
Beautifully rural yet not far from Ramsbottom, Edenfield or Rawtenstall. A row of 11 terraced cottages built in the 1800s. Fields front and back with stunning views, cows, sheep and wild deer. A farming and residential area. Popular with walkers, cyclists and horse riders. Local pub and restaurants in walking distance. Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary a 10 minute walk away too!
  • Karen deserves 'super super' host status! I absolutley loved staying for 3 nights at this beautiful cottage in rural Lancashire. Izzy Sooty and Sweep (Karen's new Beagle and two cats) were just delightful to spend time with- so friendly, with such a warm welcoming energy. As a woman on my own visiting the area I immediately felt at home in Karen's cottage. I spent the mornings running in the country side and made the most of the peaceful afternoons catching up on work and exploring Ramsbottom. I highly recommend this as a lovely place to stay and consider Karen a new found friend. I will be back :)

  • Karen is an excellent host and we thoroughly enjoyed our short stay. The bed was really comfortable, the location was great and there were lots of nice little touches - especially the welcome from Sweep the cat.

  • Karen is a great host and made me feel very welcome in her beautiful home. The room was very cosy and the bed very comfortable. Lovely quite location and would very much recommend. Thanks Karen.

  • Lovely quirky country cottage with a fantastic large comfy bed! Karen was away but left some food & drinks which was very nice of her as I didn't expect it! Contact is very good & in detail. Would love to stay again when in the area.

  • A warm welcome and a truly unusual location with a fascinating history. Worth heading slightly 'off the beaten track' to find the cottage and enjoy Karen's friendly, relaxed hospitality.

    Claire2019-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • Karen was an absolutely outstanding host. Communication was utterly awesome. The cottage was so homely and Karen’s hospitality was truly excellent. Had the optional Full English, which was well good. So accommodating and unbelievably helpful and friendly, I can highly recommend a stay at Karen’s home. Found it very easy to find, not being to far from the Motorway. Set in a beautiful secluded position, of peace, quiet, solitude is required or not, a stay at Karen’s is a must. Thanks again Karen.

    Alan2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • I'd never been to Ramsbottom before and was pleasantly surprised by the town itself. Karen's place is comfortably close to the centre but far enough away to feel a little off the beaten track. Others have pointed out that the trick is to find her. Use sat nav and your head. We never met Karen but she was a thoughtful and generous host ready from a far to go that extra mile. ( Normally she would be there.) If you're very tall then you may find the room small but it is good value for money and she supplies home made jams for breakfast. These were delicious

  • We stayed at Jacqueline’s house for a night while visiting Manchester for a concert. The house was amazing and huge. Jacqueline made us feel like home and she was very happy to help us with directions and travel tips. The bedroom was lovely and very spacious with one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in. We also had our own bathroom and a lovely breakfast with coffee and pastries in the morning. The whole house was lovely decorated and cozy! We will definitely be back!

Rural location but close to many amenities and road networks. You really feel like you are away from the rat race up at Tippett Farm.
  • The farmhouse was large, light, comfy, warm and very clean. It was oldie worldie inside which gave it a very homely feel. The location gave it stunning views, it was very peaceful and although the host is on hand next door she really does respect your privacy. The lane up is fun quite steep but you have to go up to get the stunning views. Lots of amenities close by but nice to have the basics in the kitchen for when you arrive. The very comfy single beds that can be zip lock joined make it such a versatile house and the downstairs en-suite bedroom makes it great for a family of all ages.

  • Wendy replied speedily to any queries. Both herself and John were very pleasant and helpful. The house is very spacious and clean. The beds are really comfy which is a massive plus. Little things like kichen towel, washing up liquid and toilet rolls, soap etc are a great touch. Would certainly recommend a stay here.

    Paul2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy’s place was very clean and spacious! We were a group of 6 and the rooms had lots of space for cooking and hanging out. It was very clean and the same as what’s seen in the photographs. The location was perfect for us as we were travelling in and out to a nearby town by car. The house is located at the top of a very steep hill which was at times intimidating to drive up and down. Wendy was very prompt and helpful to any questions we had before or during our stay. All in all we were very happy staying at Wendy’s place!

*As seen on The Great Staycation: Dot's Farm, BBC 1 HD* A small, cosy, heated one room treehouse. A double sofa bed lit by fairy lights with an electric kettle for making brews. A small basic kitchen is nearby (shared with farm staff) and has a microwave, sink and a toaster along with crockery and cutlery. We don't have a shower or bath tub (yet!) just a basic WC and sink, not very glamorous as we're a working farm, but we think the quirky treehouse makes up for the basic loo and kitchenette.
***HEALTH AND SAFETY NOTICE*** Coven Treehouse is just that - a treehouse - it is up a steep, uneven set of (sturdy) steps. There are slippery tree routes at the base of the tree. The wind makes the tree sway so the treehouse does too. Staying here requires some common sense and self risk assessment on your part. This is NOT a suitable venue for those who would not be able to exit the treehouse safely and quickly should there be a freak lightning storm or severe gales. Such events are extremely unlikely but guests booking this accomodation should not do so without a working smart phone which allows them to keep an eye on the weather forecast and vacate the accommodation should a lighting storm or high winds (35mph+) be predicted. DO NOT book this accommodation unless you know you are able to bring a working smartphone on which you will be able to get regular weather updates. This is for your own safety. Thanks for your cooperation :) Coven Treehouse overlooks Alden valley with our free range hen house directly below. Fab sunrise and sunset views can be seen from the windows and when you lie in bed you can see where the sky meets the horizon and the branches of the trees. There's a bookcase with a fab selection of kids books, all the Harry Potters and a load of recent books from great authors. Its not a swap shelf so please leave our books on the shelf for others to enjoy after your stay. I have draft proofed and insulated the treehouse and there is a small heater so it can be kept toasty warm and cosy in there easily. CHECK IN is any time at all from 5pm onwards - it's self check in so it doesn't matter at all when you arrive. You won't disturb anyone if you arrive in the middle of the night after a night out/ long drive. Check out is 10am. If you watched us on the BBC and saw we also have a hot tub, we're currently figuring out the best way to set up a system so guests can book to use it when they get here.
There is also Robin Hood pub which is on the way to Haslingden Grane and has a lovely beer garden. At the foot of peel tower, is the shoulder of mutton which is a popular stopover from the walk.
  • We spent a lovely night in the tree house. Rainy and windy outside but warm and cosy inside. Great view of the hills in the morning as we ate our breakfast. After breakfast a nice walk round Musbery Heights.

  • Absolutely cannot fault this place. What an absolute treasure of a place for a mini weekend adventure. Felt like a kid again up in that treehouse. If you come across this option do yourself a favour and book it 🙏🏽

  • We had a lovely stay in the Treehouse despite the weather not being great. Very quirky and cute. Good communication from the host Dot and easy self check in. Don’t forget your wellies and a torch 👍 We would definitely stay again xx

  • Had an amazing time. What a great adventure. This weekend was to celebrate 4 years since we had met and it was romantic snuggled up in the treehouse. The tree house is quirky, cute and sooo cosy warm. Bedsettee was comfy and having kettle was great as I'm grumpy till I've had my coffee in a morning. Toilet / sinks very clean. Views were wonderful. Shame it was cloud at night as I am sure the view of the moon would have been lovely ( great British weather lol ) List of local pubs / eateries was good. Intinary was good and let's you know exactly what to expect and what to bring ( torch an wellies/ boots) Met Tom ( cat) who is cute but cheeky he tried to follow us in one night. Had an amazing time and would thoroughly recommend the Tree house. Looking forward to going back in April to stay in the Yhurt

  • Really nice cosy getaway! Bed was a little thin on the bottom so maybe recommend bringing an extra blanket to lay underneath but aside from that it was fab and would definitely stay again!

    Lauren2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • This was a truly special place to stay! Bec, Charlie and Dot have the most gorgeous surroundings to make a night in feel so cosy. The night we stayed it was rainy and the sounds on the roof was so something to go to sleep to! It was a windy, rainy February day, and we were nice and warm in the treehouse - no need to take extra blankets! Felt so magical! We ate at a nearby place “the visitor store” really lovely food and nice staff there too.

  • Lovely house, easy to find, friendly help host.

  • Lovely place to stay. A 15 minute walk to Ramsbottom centre. Very convenient, clean and a very nice room and house. Amazingly comfortable bed too. Slept better than at home.

    Alexis2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Anna is very welcoming and makes sure you are comfortable and that you have everything that you need. The house is sparkling and I slept like a log for about 9 hours in the room at the back of the house, which was very quiet. Very highly recommended.

  • Fabulous stay at Anna's - peaceful and calm; being a person who needs a quiet environment, this was ideal. Anna is very respectful of personal space but made time to chat. Lovely welcome. Towels provided. Excellent shower and very spacious bedroom with extremely comfy bed. Very clear house rules, access to tea and coffee, and a Gluten Free friendly environment. Good off-road parking (check with Anna where the parking is before arriving so you know where to park). Didn't see much of the cat, he is also private :) Only 5 minutes from Ramsbottom centre, not far from walks at Holcombe and Scout Moor. Easy reach of local amenities and motorway. Try 'Fishermans Retreat' just up the lane from Anna's for Sunday breakfast! Would stay with Anna again in a heartbeat - excellent host in high level accommodation and excellent value. Thank you xx

Rose is our lovely b&b serviced room, containing a comfy king size bed, en-suite bathroom, tea/coffee making facilities, TV/DVD player, small fridge and private garden with outdoor furniture.
On site there is a lovely communal 'Island' accessed by a charming wooden bridge over a brook. The Island, with weeping willows around its border, is a great place to unwind and appreciate the tranquility that the area has to offer. It has a campfire/BBQ area by the stream.
A convenience store is located at the end of the road. Well-placed for hiking, cycling and horse riding on the nearby Mary Towneley Loop. You will also find a slew of country walks all winding through the rolling hillocks and reservoirs of the Rossendale Valley. Rossendale Holidays offers hill views from the property. The local pub is a 10-minute walk away, offering traditional home cooked meals.
  • Having stayed here before we came back again for a night from London, think that says all you need to know!

  • Loved this visit. Me and my partner stayed in rose and it was so nice and clean with a homey touch. There was plenty of space and a cupboard in the bathroom which to hang clothes etc. The space had a lovely little table and chairs outside and was a very quiet environment. Loved to have a stroll around the grounds leading to the in construction playground which will be great for the little ones. I have made a habit of visiting here each year as a new tradition. Me and my partner will definitely revisit next year. Can't wait. X

  • This was a bit out of the way, but really nice. We loved the onsite parking. It’s not really within easy walking distance of any restaurants, but even with current construction, it was very peaceful. The management staff was great!

Our spacious, comfortable rooms are minutes from Ramsbottom town centre. We are approximately 40 mins drive from Manchester with good public transport links. Our Home: Church View House is a unique period property that combines high quality, spacious rooms and a comfortable, home from home atmosphere. The Attic is a private ensuite room available on our second floor as well as access to a dining room/lounge on the ground floor.
Church View House is our home and offers unique, boutique-style Bed and Breakfast accommodation in the heart of Ramsbottom, just a 5 minute walk from the town centre. We love it here and we hope that, having stayed, you will too. This is a spacious suite perfect for a couple. In the light and airy bedroom you can relax in fresh white linen in the comfy double bed. There are plenty of drawers and hanging space, a cosy corner to sit and read and most of all it is quiet. Should you really want to unwind there is a spacious private bathroom with Victoria and Albert claw foot or a walk-in shower.
In recent years Ramsbottom has gained a reputation for being a 'foodie' town with a variety of great restaurants, most of which are in walking distance of our home. Some of our favourite places to eat: - Levanter (delicious Spanish Tapas) - gets very busy so you need to book. It's a little bit of Barcelona in Ramsbottom! - Baratxuri (Spanish Tapas) - different menu but sister bar to the above - China Cottage (Chinese) - their Sunday all you can eat buffet is very popular with locals, delicious and great value. - Cardamom Cream (Indian) - Fantastic food and very slick interior. Great curry with extra sparkle - Hearth of the Ram (Modern British) High quality food and great cocktails in a lovely space. On a sunny day head for the roofless outdoor seating area. - The Chocolate Cafe - As the name suggests every chocoholics dream. - The Mouse Trap - friendly, cosy bar with delicious cocktails and as the name suggests a great selection of cheese boards - Eagle and Child - (seasonal, local Lancashire pub grub) Worth a visit for the views from The Orangery and the food is pretty good too. - Grape to Grain - an off license that’s a bar or a bar that’s an off license! Take your pick! These guys really know their stuff when it comes to wine. Fantastic range of wines and craft beers. You can book on a tasting session too. They also serve so delicious platters. - Drinc – (Café Bar) – Serving breakfast, sandwiches, cakes and good coffee. They do a really good club sandwich (with the added bonus of sweet potato frieds ) and their freakshakes are really something to be seen! The Hungry Duck - A really good brunch menu so if you still have space after your continental breakfast or fancy something hot then give this a try. Walking We are on the West Pennine Moors so if you love the great outdoors you can easily walk onto the moors right from the door step! As an outdoor girl I am happy to act as your guide on local rambles. I run a walking group on a Friday morning (guests permitting!) and you are more than welcome to join us. Biking There are some good bike trails in the area. The rolling hills of the West Pennine Moors, a technical trail centre at Lee Quarry and loads of other places to explore. We have a large, secure cellar where you can store your bikes too.
  • We loved staying at Sally’s B&B. It’s our second visit and we cannot recommend it highly enough. Extremely comfortable and stylish with a delicious breakfast included makes it a wonderful place to stay in cute little Ramsbottom. It’s also very convenient to the village, taking only a minute or so to walk there. Wonderful accommodation!

  • We really enjoyed our stay, great place

    Natalia2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Sally’s place is truly wonderful. This AirBnB is exceptional in terms of comfort and luxury, just like staying in a five star Boutique hotel. Our room in the loft had a separate bathroom with a roll top bath and fantastic shower. The accommodation was spotless as was the bedding and towels. It rained constantly during our stay but we were comforted by the rain battering off the skylight in the bedroom when we were tucked up in the super comfy bed in a very cosy room. Sally provided a lovely variety of fruit, breads, cheese and hams for breakfast with juice and very good coffee. She also left us fresh milk for making coffee in our room and bottled water in a wee fridge. Sally is a fabulous host prepared to go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. We would also like to thank Jason, Maisie and James for the warm welcome they gave us over the four days we spent in their home. Many thanks to you all, can’t wait to return.

  • If you stay at Church View House you can expect a warm welcome from a lovely accommodating host, a gorgeous room with beautiful ensuite and a delicious continental breakfast service. Sally is an amazing host and made our stay very enjoyable. One thing to definitely try out is the beautiful Victoria and Albert bath in the ensuite; if you want to be relaxed this is the place for you. The location of the property is perfect with it being a short car journey to the centre of Manchester but you could also take full advantage of the surrounding area of Ramsbottom. I would highly recommend Sally's place to anyone wanting a relaxing weekend away and as you can tell I cannot praise it enough. If ever we are back up North we will be sure to book Church View House again!

    Jessica2019-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • I don't know where to begin..this venue is seriously top class. The top floor of a beautiful home, these hosts have spared nothing to create a luxurious space for their guests. A comfy bed, en-suite 5star bathroom, quaint sky-light through which I could see the moody cloudy sky. The bathroom window glimpses out over the houses and up to the enticing green hills beyond. Sally is an exceptionally attentive host..and I even got to meet her sweet children and charming husband. The breakfast I enjoyed the next day was a continuation of the top class treatment...fresh, attention to detail...I had an amazing stay..the best by far!

    Dominique2019-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • Just wow. I stayed at Sally's place with my girlfriend and we both agreed it was genuinely the best bnb I have ever stayed in. Bathrobes, a cosy bathtub and an unbelievable breakfast made it feel like a fancy hotel at times. Clean, great location and a great host (I even got a card for my birthday). Treat yourselves - you won't regret it!

    Alex2019-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great Airbnb - genuinely, it really is faultless and I highly recommend Sallys’ place to anyone looking to stay in the area. A nice large bedroom with a very comfortable bed, everything spotlessly clean, and a fantastic ensuite bathroom. The photos look great, but it’s all even better in reality! Includes a wonderful breakfast too - so much more than expected and very professional. Great location, just a few minutes walk from the shops and restaurants of Ramsbottom, and easy to find upon arriving... Finally, Sally (along with her family) is such a good host - very friendly, and knowledgeable of the area if you need any tips or recommendations. I’m sure you’ll enjoy your stay as much as I did!
