Villa vacation rentals in San Carlos

All the reviews are spot on! This is our 3rd trip to Costa Rica and we were looking for something a little different than a normal stay at a resort. Eduardo & Marshal (father & son) were the most wonderful hosts and made us feel so welcome. The house is huge! We enjoyed the balcony the most because you won’t have a better view in all of Costa Rica. It’s phenomenal! Towels were provided for trips to the hot springs. We did a rafting trip with our boys in the area, recommended and booked by Eduardo, that we will always remember. If you want to see toucans flying in the wild…book this amazing place right now. It was perfect sleeping at night. The windows were open, no bugs, and it even felt a little chilly during the night. Extra blankets were provided in all the sleeping areas. Our kids enjoyed the one bedroom apartment up top. The house has 3 separate areas for sleeping and hanging out. We loved it all and wanted to take the dog home with us! We hope to stay again!

Marta’s place was beautiful and comfortable! Very close to all activities . Carlos the neighbour brought us out for a tour in the cloud forest and was very knowledgeable and accommodating! Would definitely recommend this place !

I went with my fiancee and we had a great stay. it felt very private and romantic. We were offered horseback tours by our host for a very fair price. We'd be happy to recommend to prospective couple or group of friends.

**An Absolute Gem!** This Airbnb was everything we hoped for and more. The house was clean, comfortable, and beautifully authentic to the area, with thoughtful details that really made it feel special. What really stood out was the peaceful setting—surrounded by nature, it felt like the perfect escape, yet it was still just a short drive to town for anything we needed. Our host was fantastic—super responsive, friendly, and made sure everything went smoothly from start to finish. Communication was excellent throughout. If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway in a stunning location with easy access to town, this place is a gem. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again!

This place is so private and amazing nature within the property. Well maintained and our group had great time staying at this property . Though little far from La Fortuna its totally worth for what we paid for. Host communication was at next level, she helped on things that we asked for. Thanks for hosting us and enjoyed every bit of it.

Alicia was very responsive to our requests, very good communication. The accommodation was perfect, clean, well-equipped, close to the center and secure. It is in a quiet, large neighborhood with a great view.

Amazing old wooden building in a quiet neighbourhood. The interior is amazing with a vaulted ceiling and three good bedrooms. The back veranda gives a great outdoor area to enjoy the perfectly manicured tropical gardens.... Can't go wrong with this place!

The Villa was exactly as shown and described and provided a very comfortable stay for our three nights in La Fortuna. The host was proactive with instructions and responsive to messages and also provided recommendations upon request for our time in the area. The location is great in the sense that you are near all of the La Fortuna sights, the only thing to be aware of is that you are next to the main road and traffic can be quite loud - there are noise machines provided in both bedrooms.

We were two families with teenage kids and really enjoyed the sleeping arrangements and that each adult couple and sets of kids had their own bungalow. The area was peaceful and just outside of town but quick and easy drive/ride into town (no problem Ubering to town). It’s a very authentic accommodations but still had AC and full kitchen. The owner was very helpful and responsive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had a great time staying in Jessy’s place - the view is absolutely stunning and it is well located (with a car) for any activity in or around Monteverde. Jessy is incredibly responsive as well which is a great plus. One point to note (although this didn’t affect our stay) is that the drive up to the flat is quite steep and so you would probably want a bigger car with a high clearance. As other reviews have said, there also aren’t any curtains but we didn’t find this to be an issue at all, especially with an eye mask. We’d really really recommend staying here!

Beautiful place in a secure gated community!

Our group of 8 adults and 2 teenagers stayed at Allan & Jorge’s villa, and it exceeded all our expectations. The villa offered the perfect balance of privacy and a shared space, ideal for our group. Everything was spotless and well-maintained, and communication with our hosts was seamless. We especially appreciated the thoughtful welcome gift of fruit and drinks. Thank you, Allan & Jorge!

We had a great family vacation at this beautiful property. The setup is ideal as the great room is large enough for everyone to spend lots of quality time together. There's a pool table, large TV and lots of seating. The location worked well for us and was about 15 to 20 minutes from most of the activities we decided upon (which William and Laura helped arrange). I would highly recommend William and Laura's place for a get together with a large group.

There’s something truly magical about it; it’s one of those rare places that feels even better in person than in the photos. We didn’t want to leave. The Arenal Hills development is a very tranquil vacation spot with easy access to La Fortuna. The amenities are really fantastic - we made use of the hot tub with waterfall every night to relax after our nature hikes. You'll love the high ceilings, spacious rooms, and perfect temperature control after being out in the heat all day! Ana was very responsive to questions and the check in/check out process was super easy. Highly recommended!

Great house to stay in with such a large group! The pool wasn’t used but we sat outside multiple times for gatherings because it was so relaxing and had lots of seats / hammocks. The rooms itself were very very spacious! The host himself was great! We never had a chance to go into the little restaurant behind the house like they recommended BUT if my group and I ever go back to Costa Rica we will definitely consider this place again!!!

Lovely location! Toucans, oropendulas, iguanas, poison dart frogs! The house was clean and airy with a fun modern aesthetic. The rain shower was a delight. The balconies and views from the bedrooms were amazing lush jungle with very pretty bright blooms on the grounds. The pool was a HUGE help getting used to the heat. The bedroom ACs work great but be mindful that moisture may collect in those rooms even when the doors are closed. There is also a laundry dryer available. The host was wonderful at communication.

Super recommended place. Quiet. It has everything you need to have a pleasant time. The hostess left some amazing present for our enjoyment and comfort. Really a wonder of place. I would definitely come back. Trip with dogs and also for them the place was great and there were things thinking about their comfort. Thank you Patry for all the attention.

This Airbnb was in a great location! Several restaurants within walking distance and we loved the El Salto Rope Swing which was only a 6 min walk. We were also very close to the downtown, still had to drive but it wasn't bad. There is plenty to do around the area. Most of the springs are within a 25 min drive. The house itself was very nice. We felt safe and the pool felt amazing after a long day of exploring. I would definitely recommend this house.

Beautiful spot, close to town but still quiet. The patio, pool and yard were perfect. Well equipped and clean. we only stayed one night but it would be the perfect launching point for a longer vacation here.

We really enjoyed our three-night stay at Villa Roger Arenal in April 2025. When we arrived, we were greeted by don Rogelio, who gave us the keys and walked us through the house. He provided fresh fruit and cake from a local bakery, all of which was delicious. The property and the views are even more stunning in person than the pictures. We enjoyed lounging in and by the pool with its amazing view of Arenal. The covered patio has plenty of comfortable chairs where you can relax or read in the shade. We really enjoyed watching the birds feed on the fruits left for them. The location was very convenient to downtown La Fortuna and served as a great home base for our adventures (zip lining, rappelling, hot springs, etc.). Lester gave us recommendations for local restaurants for dinner and the meals were excellent. Villa Roger Arenal is one of the nicest AirBNBs we have ever stayed at. Highly recommend it as a home base for the La Fortuna area. It was perfect for our family of 5.

The apartment has everything you need for a short stay. Heydi is a great host (very accommodating and helpful). The location was very convenient for us, as it was not in La Fortuna and already towards the volcano. Still, booking options are available in the immediate vicinity and a small shop for the essentials. Keep in mind that only one hot plate is available, which is why preparing complex meals is not suitable. The sofa bed has a hard area at a folding point and could therefore be a little uncomfortable for adults. We had no problem with that. A special plus is the free use of the opposite spa with mineral baths. Would definitely book again there

Casa Colette was a great place to stay! It is a beautiful home and the hosts provided us with everything we needed to be comfortable. It was walkable to most places during the daytime and we would usually drive to dinner at night.
