We had a wonderful stay at this charming little house, which is actually a beautifully remodeled workshop/barn. It has been tastefully renovated with a modern touch while still keeping the cozy, rustic feel intact. The large pergola gave the place so much character, and being surrounded by animals made it feel like a peaceful countryside escape. Cathie and Michael are incredibly welcoming hosts. They made us feel right at home and shared some great local tips that really helped us make the most of our time. There are several beautiful nature walks within 30 minutes of the property—one of them turned out to be the hardest (and most rewarding!) hike of our trip. Alexandra itself isn't overly touristy, which we absolutely loved. It felt like discovering a little bit of a hidden gem, the nature in the area is beautiful. Highly recommend this stay to anyone looking for something a little special.

We had a lovely relaxing stay at Fiona & Lar’s Merlewood. Our accommodation was spotless, & very cosy. The roomy cottage was surrounded by beautiful peaceful Australian countryside. Bed was incredibly comfortable and large. Nights were spent cooking a meal, followed by a spa one night, and movie. Mornings were enjoyed taking in the beautiful sun filled view from every room after opening the blinds. Followed by a walk up the back hill, a sit on the deck, a sight seeing by car to Alexandra for lunch at the large cafe there, and enjoyed hiring a kayak at Jerusalem Creek to paddle around Eildon weir. Another day we drove to Yarck and purchased some essential oiled natural skin products at DINDI. There was also Op shop visits in Alexandra & Yea where we found a couple of bargains. This is the perfect place for a couple to unwind, & take in the scenery & tranquility, and use as a base to explore the region. Thanks Fiona & Lars making this lovely stay possible.

Great place with amazing views! I would definitely recommend this place for a group of 4–6 people, although it’s most comfortable for 4. The location is also convenient - close to shops in case you need anything. The host, Natalie is fantastic. She’s very responsive and replies promptly to messages.

Four adults cycling from Tallarook to Yea on rail trail , was great to arrive find house refreshing and cool . Extremely large kitchen think we counted 23 cupboards 4 sets drawers and shelving .loved the fridge plenty of ice and chilled water .we did not use front two rooms or third bedroom. Perhaps if we were staying longer may have utilised those rooms . Two alfresco areas so when hot western sun comes over in afternoon you can move to back alfresco. Temperature was set to 18 that’s a personal one some in our group liked that others prefer warmer , it’s zoned so easy to adjust temperature although we did not turned it off when it cooled down. Dishwasher appeared to be missing cutlery holder and large plates don’t fit ….no issue as plenty of soap and sponges to wash by hand . TV was smart TV so streaming possible with own accounts. We also were happy with no pets policy and shoes off in house ! Helps to keep it smell free and floors in good condition .
