Monthly Rentals in Cardoness

Courtyard Cottage was a brilliant base to explore the local area. It was warm, peaceful and extremely comfortable. The bed was particularly comfy and had nice quality bedding. The kitchen was well equipped. The dogs were made welcome and were safe within the enclosed courtyard. We loved the bath and there was lovely hot water when we got back from long walks and explorations. We only ate lunch out once in Kirkcudbright at a café called Feast, very friendly and welcomed our two smll dogs. We preferred to hunker down in the evenings and eat in.

Little Alba gave us a week of peace and relaxation on the beautiful Galloway coast. Suzanne is an experienced and friendly host who has thought of every detail. The kitchen is so well equipped that we cooked and ate there almost every night, enjoying the view of the lawns and trees. We were blessed with glorious weather in May and marvellous displays of bluebells and wild garlic. A short walk through the woods takes you to Gatehouse, a charming little town with good amenities. There are fantastic walks from the door, to the stunning bay at Sandgreen, up to Trusty’s Hill or to the magical old Carstrammon Woods where deer and cuckoos were spotted. A short drive takes you to Wigtown, Scotland’s national book town, or to the Galloway Forest Park. Little Alba is in the most peaceful location and we loved sitting on the lawn watching the birds and slept really well in the comfortable king size bed after a long walk. We left there rested and recharged and vowed to return!

Excellent base for exploring Galloway. Thoughtfully well equipped, everything pristine, very comfortable bed, hot shower. Lovely courtyard to sit out in. Short walk into charming little town.

A fantastic place to stay. We loved the big window overlooking the bay and watching the tides and the weather. Lots of lovely welcome gifts too! Cake, tablet, cava, oatcakes and marmalade….we felt really spoiled! The bay is lovely for swimming at high tide and you can walk out to islands at low tide. There’s also a lovely little path from the bottom of the garden along the shore to some small shell beaches you can have all to yourself. Definitely hope to be back before too long !
