The Long Barn is an old stone whitewashed barn. It has private entrance and outside space, set in tranquil, leafy and secluded gardens near the end of a long, quiet country lane leading, in a few minutes amble, to a safe and secluded beach. The ambience of the barn is comfort, with cotton sheets, feather pillows and duvets, roaring log fires and comfy chairs. If you like quirky old buildings, with oak beams and thumb-latch doors, rather than a faceless hotel room, then you'll like this place.
“We stayed two nights in the long barn. It was exactly what we were after and more. Remote location, 2 minute stroll from a lovely sheltered inlet and 5 minute drive from beautiful Irish village life. Lovely host. Nice and friendly and had left us some freshly baked soda bread and free range eggs to welcome us. A lovely touch. We were there with our 5 year old son and the cottage is perfectly equipped. Good WiFi, a chest of games for the smallies, DVD’s, Netflix on the tv. Just perfect for us. The kitchen had everything you’d need to cook a family meal and the place is spotless. Great shower and comfy beds. Highly recommend it for a quite getaway like we had or a great base to explore the wild Atlantic way.”
Stay far from the crowds in this unique, slightly eccentric cabin in our garden . Enjoy beautiful views of the West Cork countryside from your deck and breakfast on home-made produce from our kitchen and garden. Set in a quiet, rural area 6km from Skibbereen and close to the Wild Atlantic Way, its a short drive to Castletownshend and Union Hall, Reen Pier for whale watching trips and kayaking, or the quiet beaches of Toe Head. Close to the town of Skibbereen for shops and farmers' market.
“We made a road trip through Ireland and stayed overnight in 8 different accommodations. The cabin was the one we liked the most! Trish and Pete are extremely caring and lovely hosts, who want to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Although it was already end of October and cold outside, it was cozy and warm in the cabin! The breakfast was delicious. We can definitely recommend it!”
Our two bedroom cottage is close to beaches, fishing villages, market towns, cosy pubs and restaurants, family-friendly activities like kayaking, sailing, fishing, whale watching, walking and more. We're based in the heart on West Cork on the Atlantic coast surrounded by stunning seascapes and views, space and light. Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families (with kids). 10mins from Skibbereen, Castletownshend, Union Hall, 20mins from Baltimore
“The hostess is warm, extremely helpful and courteous. Communication is straightforward. Since it was quite cold on the day of arrival, Jacinta pre-heated the house. She was also immediately available during the entire stay if we needed anything or had any questions. The accommodation itself is in top condition and leaves nothing to be desired. It offers a perfect base for exploring West Cork. Quiet location, but not far from Skibbereen, where there are some supermarkets, shops and pubs. We would come back anytime.”
