Our two bedroom cottage is close to beaches, fishing villages, market towns, cosy pubs and restaurants, family-friendly activities like kayaking, sailing, fishing, whale watching, walking and more. We're based in the heart on West Cork on the Atlantic coast surrounded by stunning seascapes and views, space and light. Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families (with kids). 10mins from Skibbereen, Castletownshend, Union Hall, 20mins from Baltimore
“The hostess is warm, extremely helpful and courteous. Communication is straightforward. Since it was quite cold on the day of arrival, Jacinta pre-heated the house. She was also immediately available during the entire stay if we needed anything or had any questions. The accommodation itself is in top condition and leaves nothing to be desired. It offers a perfect base for exploring West Cork. Quiet location, but not far from Skibbereen, where there are some supermarkets, shops and pubs. We would come back anytime.”
The Long Barn is an old stone whitewashed barn. It has private entrance and outside space, set in tranquil, leafy and secluded gardens near the end of a long, quiet country lane leading, in a few minutes amble, to a safe and secluded beach. The ambience of the barn is comfort, with cotton sheets, feather pillows and duvets, roaring log fires and comfy chairs. If you like quirky old buildings, with oak beams and thumb-latch doors, rather than a faceless hotel room, then you'll like this place.
“A little slice of Heaven. The Long Barn is one of those places that I know we will be dreaming about for years. It’s idyllic. From the moment we arrived and were welcomed by the friendly brown labradors, we felt at home. The barn is long, bright, well furnished and has gorgeous little touches throughout. Comfy, clean, warm and in the most stunning setting. The garden is a photographers delight - stone walls, ancient trees, a thousand shades of green and dappled sunlight... The location is the icing on the cake. Set on an organic headland, with a hidden beach less than 5 minutes walk away, you are immersed in nature, and as far away from the concrete of cities as is possible. So good for the soul. Richard + Joan were super friendly and helpful, with local tips and advice. The nearest town is Union Hall which is about 5km away so you definitely need a a car to get the most out of exploring the area. And do explore - west cork is one of the most beautiful parts of the world! Suffice to say we did not want to leave :))”
With a view over rolling countryside to Mount Gabriel and only 2 miles off The Wild Atlantic Way, Skeagh Creamery Cottage is the ideal base from which to explore all that West Cork has to offer. It looks traditional from the outside but is full of modern convenience. The double ensuite bedroom, large open plan living space and an overhead twin room provide all that's required for a comfortable stay. Safe off road parking and secure storage available for your bike, if required.
“Great base if dining in Chestnut restaurant in nearby Ballydehob as there are three taxi services to ferry you around. Una was such a lovely host. The stove was lit when we arrived and the cottage was so cosy and warm, with basket full of sticks and coal. Thoughtful extras like electric blanket ,fresh local produce for breakfast and toiletries. We enjoyed our stay.”
