Our house, Whispering Waters, contains a private, contemporary two-room apartment suite, with its own private access via an exclusive south-facing deck, 21 mtrs above the tree-lined River Tees. Lying in bed, it's as if you’re in a treehouse with the treetops visible outside the window. Situated in Lower Teesdale (on the A67, between Barnard Castle and Darlington - around 7 miles/11km from each), Whispering Waters is a house without neighbours, immediately adjacent to, and above the River Tees.
“We really enjoyed our stay at Bill's place. The location was perfect for what we planned to do, from taking trips into Barnard Castle, up to High Force and exploring the local area. The place was easy to find, just a short distance from a friendly village, with even nicer fish and chips. We found the communication to be good in the lead up to our stay, so we knew exactly what to do on our arrival. The privacy was good, and there were lots of nice touches throughout the rooms. We would really recommend Bill's place!”
Sleeps up to 5 . A charming, cosy traditional cottage dating back to 1870 in the small hamlet of Fir Tree, Crook. Although almost 200 years old, it has been mostly modernised inside to give modern conveniences along with retaining charm and character. 2 pub/restaurants in the hamlet serving excellent food. Although situated on the A68, the main road to Edinburgh, the cottage itself is a haven of tranquility with double glazing throughout. I live 3 miles away but am always on hand if needed.
“Cathy has put a lot of thought into everything you might need for a break away from home, down to providing milk for a cuppa and a well equipped kitchen. It is a stylish and comfortable space to spend the weekend with good pubs serving food very close by. The cottage was immaculately presented and we received a friendly welcome. Cathy also made it clear she was available should we need anything. A great stay. We would highly recommend.”
Cotswolds Holiday Cottage is nestled in the village of Hamsterley with unrestricted countryside views and within 1/2 mile to Hamsterley Forest popular with mountain bikers, horse riders and walkers alike . The beautiful village of Hamsterley boasts village greens and a fantastic local country pub. Enjoy a short stay or a long holiday with all usual creature comforts! Well behaved dogs/children are more than welcome.
“Great little place, very close to Hamsterley wood, which we enjoyed visiting. Plenty of attractions nearby, and great for walkers and doggy people. House was very clean and, although some areas could do with a little updating, there were plenty of little touches that made it like home. The welcome basket was much appreciated, as were the visiting chickens each day! The garden is spacious, although it isn’t really suitable for small/toddling children. But Our adventurous 22 month old loved navigating her way around! We all felt very comfortable and had plenty of space for 4 adults, our dog and child. Local pub is also great, and only a short walk down the road. Thank you Helen and family for our lovely stay.”
