“My stay in Alness was great, Eleanor is a lovely host, kind and warm hearted. The accommodation is everything you need, a cosy and well located. The town is only a 10 minute walk, there are also some very good walking and cycling routes too. A walk uptown the Fyish monument on a clear day is fantastic, you get a great appreciation of the Moraty and the beatiful surrounding countryside. I am looking forward to coming back next year. Thank you Eleanor.”

“I write in German, as it certainly want to use many Germans: The accommodation of Phil and Wendy was only very purple (we had the upper room). And we were traveling together (as boys), I thought about it briefly. But it was not that bad - on the contrary - everything is well coordinated. In the room is everything you need - including a hair dryer. The bathroom is also functional. And the location is perfect - absolutely quiet and with a wonderful view of the beautiful landscape. The breakfast was also delicious and rich. Be sure to follow the directions of Phil - where the wooden hut is a small shed;) Otherwise, Google Maps helps here very much. For dinner in the evening Phil recommended hotel (about 10-15 miles drive) very good - reasonably priced food of good quality. From the accommodation you can drive through the Highlands - which we used for two days. Thank you and gladly again.”

“I loved staying in the old signal box. It’s quirky and unusual. I like this kind of thing, if you’re used to Egyptian cotton sheets and luxuries then this place isn’t for you. If you like silent nights and rustic living it’s the place to be. The stove was ace when it was fired up and made the place nice n cosy on a chilly night. The WiFi is excellent so I could watch a bit of stuff on iPlayer etc. There’s lots of info and a great picture album showing how the whole signal box was relocated to its present site. Dave and Mary are a lovely couple and we’re on hand to help me with anything I needed. There’s some basic cooking facilities inc a microwave which was useful for me taking some food with me. I’d definitely stay again.”
