“If you want a quiet rural getaway, then this is the place. The surrounding areas make for some excellent walks if you wish to go off and explore. The accommodation was fantastic, quirky and clean. The bed was the most comfortable we've had whilst using an Airbnb and we couldn't hear a sound from the bedroom. Excellent value and we plan to return when the weather is better to some more exploring. Definitely 5 star”

“We picked the cottage based upon its location and the fact it had 2 woodburners and a dishwasher plus it looked really nice and the reviews backed this up. Communication from the start was great and upon arriving there was a nice note from Dave & Gill plus a bottle of bubbly, some treats and milk in the fridge. It was lovely and warm inside and we immediately felt right at home. It was decorated for Xmas beautifully (we arrived on Boxing Day) with little fairy lights in various locations, a tree and other touches. It was totally spotless! The kitchen is very well equipped, the shower is great with loads of hot water, the towels are large and soft, the king sized bed is super comfortable and the woodburners were all ready to light – which we did! To the front of the cottage is a road that was not busy at all – parking is off road in the drive and there’s a very handy Co op about a mile away that is really well-stocked. A bit further on in Stanhope there’s a butcher and a greengrocer and so we didn’t need to find a supermarket during our 6 night stay. The views from the rear are wonderful and much better than we expected. We went on a couple of good walks right from the door and the scenery is stunning. Hadrians Wall is not too far and the drive there was breathtaking with snow on the high ground and magnificent views. This was one of the best Airbnb properties we’ve stayed in and if you’re a bit fussy like us then I’m sure you’ll not be disappointed. Well done Dave & Gill for getting it so right – we’ll be back!”
Cosy and spacious home in detached rural location with sunroom looking out over stunning views of the North Pennines, a UNESCO Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Newfield is the perfect place for anyone seeking a comfortable rural escape. Remote but not cut off, Newfield is near attractions including museums, heritage railways, waterfalls, and cafes, and just an hour from Newcastle with its thriving Quayside.
“This is a fantastic cottage, I fell in love with it the moment we stepped inside. It’s beautifully furnished and everything is of great quality, especially the very comfy bed! The views are amazing. I was a bit worried it would be chilly and also that it might smell of dog, given how many dog owners seem to go, but you would never know. The heating was adequate but there are loads of extra heaters around if you need them. It’s great for kids, plenty of space and the sun room is perfect for grown up chill out time when they’re in bed! We’ll be back!”
