“I had an amazing time in Shanagolden. The little house is just perfect and as beautiful as in the photos. I arrived on a really cold rainy Friday in Feb and everything was prepared. There were 2 electric blankets in my bed and a lovely central heating. So I could snuggle up in bed and read while listening to the wind and the rain. Loved it. The house is extraordinary. A very comfortable bed, a walk-in wardrobe, a fantastic shower, a huge kitchen with everything you could wish for. Everything was absolutely spotless. The house and the grounds are beautiful. There is so much space for the car outside. The location is great because you are in a very quite area but everything is easy to reach. Loads of sights around, it’s just 30 minutes to Limerick, Askeaton is down the road. 30 minutes to Kerry. In an hour you are at the Atlantic Ocean, in Killarney or in Cork. With the car ferry in Tabert you will be in Kilkee ( Co. Clare) in an hour to do a fantastic cliff walk. Dermot and his wife are adorable. He made sure that it was easy to find by giving me the aircode, they looked after me leaving the property, made sure the gate was open and looked really after me. On my last day he cleaned my car windows of ice knowing that I had leave early. We had great talks and they really made me feel at home. Thank you so much. I will be back soon.”
This is a modern, yet antique, farm house, with a breath-taking view. It is 45 minutes from Limerick city, 10 minutes from Newcastle West, 25 minutes from Adare and 1 hour from Killarney and Tralee. There is more than enough space for both adults and children. This location is perfect for both a relaxation holiday or a holiday filled with activities.
“Pictures couldn’t do this home and view justice! You would not regret renting Margaret’s home. She has added every little detail you could think of for the kitchen, bath, and living quarters. The home was very clean and kept us nice and toasty! Also in a wonderful location!”
Ash Cottage dates back to 1914. It has been completely restored using materials sourced from old buildings & historical sites from all over Ireland to retain its character. Limestone sourced from a local quarry & Knocklong Creamery, cills from Killarney Railway Station, sleepers from the old Galway railway line & Military House Curragh, flooring from Donnybrook Hospital, church pew & notice board from Dunamaise Church and 150 year old Killaloe & Balmoral slates are just a few items used.
“Wonderful home!! It’s very clean and homely. The whole place is layed out and designed so lovely, lots of personal touches which made it feel like home. Very warm and even had a fire already prepared for us. With amble logs to use. The kitchen has everything you need! Coffee tea sugar to use which was great, sometimes many homes don’t provide this, fresh milk in the fridge so we could make a warm drink on arrival. The beds were comfortable and amble begin provided. Very comfortable and with heated blankets but the house was so warm we didn’t use them. The front room is lovely, big comfortable space with sky tv and strong WiFi. Lots of games to play which was great fun. Tom was helpful and popped in to see if we are okay which was lovely, we asked to check in early and it wasn’t a problem. The house has a lovely story behind it which made it even more special, there is a book you can read all about it. The renovations done to the property are high standard and We will be definitely visiting again, one of the best places we have stayed bar far!!”
