“We stayed here for a couple of nights to go to a friend’s wedding in Kilkenny. The space was perfect for our short stay. The setting is beautiful and there were homemade flapjacks and flowers from the garden waiting for us when we arrived! Location was perfect for us. 10/15 minute drive into town or about 1 hour walk along a beautiful river trail. Easy enough to get taxi as well. Bed super comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed to make breakfast and coffee, there was even a little jug of milk. Olivia kindly lent us her iron for our wedding attire! We had a wonderful, relaxing stay and would definitely return to explore Kilkenny again.”
Built in 1800, Blanchville House self catering Coach Houses have been lovingly restored by the Phelan family and offers guests elegant country accommodation in a charming setting.
“The coach houses are a legacy from an old Norman estate and are currently set on a working farm, but behind many of the original walls of the estate , making this spot very safe for children and very private for couples . There is almost no noise here bar the beautiful singing of the birds every morning and evening . I spent many of my mornings sitting outside with coffee , admiring the house martins swooping in and out of their nests . We are an Irish family of 5 and all of us really enjoyed it here . The children enjoyed the tennis court and the freedom to play safely and we enjoyed the peace and quiet and the really good location meant Kilkenny and Carlow amenities were minutes away .( The Medieval Mile Museum guided tour in Kilkenny and Delta Sensory Gardens , Carlow were highlights . Dublin is also working striking distance .... we had two great days in Explorium and Tayto Park.) There are two coach houses adjoining each other ..... it would be an ideal location for extended family or two families to take both houses and enjoy the space together . Our boy enjoyed playing tennis with a French boy staying in the adjoining house , but there was never a sense of lack of privacy and certainly no noise . Our own home is in a rural setting , but the peace and quiet of this location really struck both myself and my husband as remarkable . The children adored the two very gentle resident dogs , who we were lonesome leaving . There is a homely , comfortable , peaceful feeling here in a lovely part of the country ..... I really think almost anyone would enjoy it here .”
