“The Lodge was well presented and very clean with everything we needed. From booking, the owner Gail was very responsive to any questions we had and was very welcoming when we arrived. A few items, such as shortbread biscuits and milk were much appreciated. As the lodge it is part of the Agrennan Manor House Estate it is quite unique and full of character. We enjoyed the opportunity to be able to walk around the estate, through the woodland and walled garden, we did this every day, always seeing something different, rabbits, squirrels, a fox, lots of birds including birds of prey and deer in the adjacent fields. Alistair the owner has created a 9-hole golf course on the estate. It was a pleasure to play a round of golf with him and learn about the history of Agrennan. It is possible to play at any time and I would suggest that you take a few ‘odd’ numbered irons and a putter. The trees on the course create an extra challenge! The Lodge is ideally located to visit local towns such as Castle Douglas, Kircudbright and the beautiful coastal bays in Dumfries and Galloway. We enjoyed our stay very much and would highly recommend this beautiful lodge.”

Uniquely finished with wood from the estate, the cottage features a large viewing window which looks across to the farmland beyond. A great space set within the 50 acres of the Argrennan Manor Estate from which to enjoy a break away in this green and peaceful corner of Scotland.
“We stayed in Shire Cottage for 3 nights, but would happily have stayed for longer. Cottage was beautiful...cosy, spotless, well equipped and had some thoughtful extras (stair gate for our baby, shortbread, loads of dvds and local information). We spent lots of time exploring the estate, especially the walled gardens. Gail and her husband were very friendly and helpful. We also loved Russ the dog who came to welcome us on our first night and appeared at our door with a tennis ball on a few occasions. Thanks for a fantastic stay and we hope to come back again soon”

“Stable Cottage is an amazing place to stay. It felt especially clean and safe during this Covid era! It is a lovely spacious cottage set in truly wonderful grounds. The walks around the estate we lovely and the scenery and wildlife beautiful. Great for 2 children and a lively cocker spaniel. Anything we needed was either available or provided on request. Bedrooms spacious and restful. Handy having a washing machine too :-) I would happily go back here again and we just might! The only thing that I would change to slightly improve the cottage would be a fenced garden space as we couldn’t let our puppy off the lead in the garden due to the fear he would be off into the woods. This might not be a problem for anyone with a more obedient and less inquisitive dog!! But we loved that we could bring our dog and that he was just as welcome as we were.”
