Family-friendly vacation rentals in Lake Austin

Steven's place is perfect. Honestly, the pictures don't do it justice. The house is tucked away on a quiet tree-lined street, and you feel like you're in your own private sanctuary. And yet, it's only a few minutes walk to some great restaurants and coffee shops. The house itself is spacious, well-designed, and stocked with high-quality products and amenities. My friends and I are cold plunge converts after our stay here! If you're on the fence about this rental, don't be, just book it!

This place is an absolute gem. Wacky and fun, it’s a house with unique charm and character, something that is increasingly rare to find on Air BnB. The bedrooms are a little unconventionally arranged so if privacy for every single bed is your main concern, perhaps it’s not for you. Otherwise you’ll fall in love with this one-of-a-kind place like we did. There were 8 of us staying for SXSW and we really felt like we had a home base. Brian was attentive, flexible and helpful throughout our stay. The neighbourhood is ideal, and walkable. In a world of grey floored rentals and bland, heartless renovations, this spacious home is a whimsical breath of fresh air. We wouldn’t have changed a thing.

Travis was an exceptional host. He was quick to communicate if anything was needed and offered multiple amenities. The space itself is very private, great for photos especially around the lake, it's just you and nature. If the weather wasn't so cold we definitely would've hit the water. Hadn't ever heard of spicewood before, but would come again! Thank you again Travis!

Friendly and thoughtful host, great location (walkable, safe, central). My family all enjoyed their stay, the house felt very comfortable and clean and we were well provided for.

Sandi and Bob are incredible people and have a wonderful escape in Leander. Their space has so many activities and amenities to enjoy during your stay. You could spend hours just looking through the interior of the Bunkhouse with all the art and cool collectibles they have lying around. We got to see their two buffaloes & longhorn, and Sandi even let us hand-feed them! The Bunk House was spotless and has a vast amount of sleeping space. More than enough towels for taking a dip in the hot tub/pool. We will certainly be keeping Sandi & Bob in mind the next time we come down to Texas!

We had a wonderful time at Ramsay’s Cottage! The property was beautiful. We enjoyed the fire pit, hot tub, and short walk to the private park. The house was comfy and had everything we needed. It really felt like the hosts thought of everything - we had everything we could have needed. The cookies from Charles were icing on the cake to a perfect weekend! We would love to stay here again.

We had a wonderful stay at Cameron’s home! The house was cozy and welcoming, with everything we needed for a relaxing visit. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and we slept great. The backyard was a perfect bonus—our pups absolutely loved having the space to relax. Highly recommend for anyone traveling with pets or just looking for a peaceful, comfortable place to stay!

Our stay at this Airbnb during our daughter's graduation at the University of Austin was absolutely fantastic. The home was not only comfortable but also conveniently located, allowing us to easily navigate the city and attend all the graduation events without any hassle. What truly set this Airbnb apart, however, was the exceptional hospitality of the host. She made sure we had everything we needed for a memorable stay and gave some great suggestions on places to eat. But what truly blew us away was her responsiveness to our request to look for our forgotten sunglasses. She found out sunglasses and promptly shipped them to us. It's these little gestures of thoughtfulness that truly make a difference and leave a lasting impression. Overall, our experience at this Airbnb was nothing short of amazing. Comfortable accommodations, a great location, and a host who goes above and beyond to make her guests feel at home.

A little older place but very clean and it had everything for 6 adults of different ages. The air conditioning felt great after a day in the heat. Many local restaurants to enjoy and an easy walk to. Easy uber downtown and most cost were less than $20. Larry was there with advice and fast to reach. I would stay there again next visit to Austin.

Love staying in campfire circle and Donna’s place was no exception. It was perfect for our crew, had stunning views, lots of deer, and each room was cutely decorated for Christmas. The house is FULLY stocked with anything you may need, which is much appreciated. This is how Airbnb used to be before all the good properties were snatched up by corporations. Classic, family owned home with all the charm and attention to detail.

What an amazing place! The studio was clean and cozy with everything we needed for our stay. The yard outside the studio was a beautiful spot for outdoor dining on the giant picnic table. We enjoyed swinging in the hammock and sitting by the fire ring in the evening. We loved walking around the ranch and looking at all the flowers, the scenery, the horses (especially the new foal), etc. The hike around the mountain/hill was just strenuous enough with lots of beautiful views (be sure to bring water)! Finally, their spot on the river was perfect. At this time of year many spots have run dry or stagnant, however, at Montesino there was still enough water in the swimming hole to have a good soak. It’s warm (as all Tx rivers are at this time of year), and there’s moss covering the rocks (again, as every river in Tx has right now) but the water is moving so it’s not stagnant and it’s still cool enough before 3 pm to be refreshing! It was a lovely time!

This place is fabulous if you would like a get away retreat. We spent loads of time on the deck, enjoying the trees. This is the most well stocked Airbnb we've ever stayed in. We absolutely recommend it. The location was absolutely beautiful and driving to grab dinner was no problem at all. it's a quick drive to either Terry Black's (the beef ribs are out of this world good) or Green Mesquite. if you're looking for a place that is right in the heart of downtown, this is not it. If you're looking for a peaceful retreat, you couldn't do much better. 👍

Such a beautiful home in a great location. It was super close to everything you would need. House was spotless, rooms were beautiful. I will definitely be coming back.

This is the absolute best sanctuary/vacation home to stay in. The best scenery, close to wildlife (had a deer let me pet it), the coolest little family vibe, and just all around amazing. I will choose this place every single time I come and visit Dripping Springs.

we had an amazing time at kims! we really enjoyed the pool and backyard, super comfortable beds, lots of room, and loved the house layout. the location was perfect!

Doug's place was perfect for our sister trip. It was very clean and cozy and the surroundings were quiet and peaceful. It was about 10 minutes from Wimberley and all the great shopping and restaurants. I would recommend this tiny house; it was exactly as described and had many thoughtful extras.

I had a wonderful stay while on a work trip at Obichukwu Joshua’s condo. Directions were easy to follow for parking and check-in. The condo was clean and nicely equipped. The building is in a beautiful setting along the water with a nice pool area.

This is our second time staying at Whitetail Cottage. The first was a year ago for a mini-moon, and this time we chose to go back for our 1st anniversary. Trisha is a great host and the cottage is lovely. We weren’t able to spend as much time outside as we hoped due to storms, but the cottage was cozy and perfect in the rain. We highly recommend this property and we plan to come back next year for our second anniversary.
