Situated just 9 miles from Edinburgh and with lovely views of the Pentland Hills from the garden, this welcoming Bothy is the perfect base for a relaxing break away. The property is very well furnished and decorated. The area is superb for walking with many waymarked routes around and many options to choose in the Pentland Hills Regional Park. There are frequent buses from Straiton Park & Ride into Edinburgh, making it simple to relax and enjoy the city.
“Delightful place in a great setting. The bothy has all the amenities anyone could possibly want for a visit including easy parking. The hosts Jak and Charlie respond very quickly to any communications and go out of their way to make everything as easy and pleasant as possible. From the front door there are pleasant country walks and yet Penicuik, Straiton and Edinburgh are not far away at all. Highly recommended.”
The Wrennery is a cosy Scandinavian style cottage situated at the foot of the Pentland Hills with immense character. Although in a rural location, the cottage is only 20 mins drive from the airport and 30 mins from Edinburgh city centre. Tastefully decorated with stunning views, the place is great for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers. There is one double bedroom and a double sofa bed. Kids are welcome to stay, however, the bedroom is accessed via a ladder with railings.
“My husband and I were in Scotland for Christmas to see family. The Wrennery was a perfect spot for our week-long stay. The location is wonderful - easy enough to get to from the airport and Edinburgh city by car, and nestled into the Pentlands it was a peaceful spot to return to each night. The guesthouse is beautifully decorated, as accurately depicted in the photographs. The bed was comfortable and kitchen stocked with everything we needed for home-cooked meals for the week. Check in/out was easy and Grace was a great host who responded quickly to any messages. As a lovely touch Grace also had some seasonal decorations up, including a Christmas tree! Highly recommend and would definitely return for another stay.”
Charming room in a spacious house. Situated near popular historic attractions. All mod cons very comfortable. Fabulous open kitchen leading to a spectacular garden. Newly installed modern bath and shower. We respect guests privacy. On the other hand we are very friendly and enjoy demonstrating our Scottish hospitality. It's situated 20 minutes by car to Edinburgh city centre. There is a frequent bus service on the doorstop. There is a popular supermarket within walking distance if required.
“Brenda and Shirley are wonderful hosts. They are friendly & were happy to provide information about touring the Edinburgh area. The bed was comfortable, & the breakfast provided even included delicious homemade bread that Brenda had baked. There is a bus stop right out front which made it very easy to access public transportation. We enjoyed our brief one night stay, and look forward to returning in the future.”
