    A one day course will introduce you to the tools and techniques of greenwoodworking. Starting with wood in its log form you will cleave and shape the timber using traditional tools and techniques. Skills covered include timber selection, cleaving, side axing and shaping timber on a shave horse and many more. You will go home with your own hand crafted stool with a solid oak top. Other things to note We will be working outside some of the time so please check weather before hand and dress accordingly.

  • Make a Manchester Bee Mosaic
    We'll meet outside the entrance hall at Manchester Art Gallery. The art gallery is the perfect meeting spot where we’ll spot a few bees in the gallery. I'll explain the significance of the Manchester bee, Industrial Revolution and Cottonoplois. We'll also look at the gorgeous William De Morgan Victorian tiles and Pre-Raphaelite Art. Then we will walk to the Waterhouse Pub to pay homage to the architect Alfred Waterhouse (1830 ~1905) who designed the gothic style masterpiece that is Manchester Town Hall and the incredible bee mosaic floor. Walking around the outside of the Town Hall, as it is being refurbished until 2024, we will walk through Library Walk. Here we can see the cotton flower mosaic floor and spot some more worker bees. Onto "Foundation Coffee House” Whitworth Street, where the workshop will take place for you to make your bee mosaic. All the materials will be provided for you to make your bee. I'll guide you through the mosaic process and technique, sharing my skills and tips on how to make the best bee mosaic. I'm really excited about welcoming you to Manchester, you're going to have the best time. It will be an experience that is unique and I know you'll love. Other things to note No previous experience is needed. This will be an excellent way of meeting new people if you are travelling alone. I'm looking forward to meeting you.

    This is a tour of some of the most important highlights to see in Central Manchester. The city centre is steeped in history, wonderful street art and graffiti, varied and outstanding architecture as well as some fantastic hidden gems, if you know where to go! The walking tour will take approximately 2 hours. We begin at Stevenson square and conclude the tour on Deansgate. You will be given a brief and interesting history of each site and it's relevance and I'll be on hand to help you with some great angles and photo suggestions! I'm always happy to take some shots of you at the places we visit and send them on to you so you have great memories at some of Manchester's greatest spots. At each place we will stop for around 10 mins before we move on to the next venue. (The art gallery area will account for 30 mins) I will also organise entry to the wonderful Manchester Art gallery for you, free of charge, which houses a mix of modern art and stunning classics. I'll show you the most notable pieces by world renowned artist's and give you a little time to wander. There will be a coffee/toilet break in the middle of the tour. Other things to note Please make sure you arrived with a fully charged camera or smartphone device and be prepared for a fun afternoon out getting to know the wonderful city of Manchester!
