Lovely warm space and comfortable beds. Bernie was a fabulous host. Would definitely stay again if we ever came back to this area.

The Peacock House is located within the Lismore Demesne. It was once the dairy and workers cottage. From the 1980s onwards it was used to house peacocks, giving the cottage its name. After being left dormant for 80 years it was lovingly restored three years ago. These days it is a bright and cozy cottage offering tranquil views of mature trees and park land. There is private access to forest walks along the Doney Stream just outside the doorstep.
Cavan is famous for it many lakes, offering fishing, water sports and walking trails. The Peacock House is ideally located for guests who are attending events in Farnham Estate and Kilmore Hotel.
  • Such a beautiful cottage in lovely countryside, the house is really cosy, fully equipped with wellies and a basket of slippers, log stove in the main room - which Richard & Sonya keep fully stocked with logs! Would definitely recommend for a quiet country stay in relaxed surroundings

    Helen2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful surroundings. Well stocked. Very welcoming. Loved all the animals. Great location

    Sean2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely house. Beautiful log fire and views of the countryside and farm. Lovely and quiet. Added bonus was the Nespresso coffee machine and all the kitchen amenities and leaving breakfast in the fridge for us to cook the next morning was a great touch. Really fast and responsive hosts when communicating. Great stay.

    Clodagh2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This little house is an amazing place to stay. With a full kitchen, lounge room, deck area, fields to walk in, chickens to watch, donkeys to pet, you couldn’t want for more! Sonya is a fabulous host making sure you are toasty and warm with a fire and have everything you need including eggs fresh from the rescue chickens for breakfast. The space is modern but homely - I cannot recommend this place highly enough!

    Shani2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet, cosy location. Unusual and interesting property. Sonya is a thoughtful and attentive host. I really enjoyed my stay and would stay again.

    Rob2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect getaway to a country cottage. Sonya and Richard we're super accommodating, very friendly with attention to detail. The cottage was perfect, spotlessly clean and with all the amenities you would need. I was pleasantly surprised with the touches Sonya left, the breakfast foods, the coffees, the juice etc. It was a cold February weekend and Sonya ensured to keep the fire going for us even if we were not at the cottage which was lovely. We were there for a Wedding near by in Farnham Estate and they even brought us to the venue on the day. The whole place was so cosy, I had a great nights sleep in the bed and there is a pub across the road which is good for a drink or some food and its only 10 mins from Cavan town. We had a busy weekend and unfortunately did not get to explore the land around the cottage, but I will most definitely be back to explore further. I have been singing it's praises so much that friends have just booked to go to Peacock lodge in 2 weeks time. :) Thank you

    Belturbet, County Cavan, Ireland

Featured in the Irish Times, Independent & sustainable building websites; this unique property is all about traditional Irish culture, heritage & passionate craftsmanship. Quiet, cosy and romantic, it boasts many authentic features (cob walls, open fireplace, exposed beams) that transport you back to old Ireland! Includes modern conveniences for comfort. Great central location in beautiful countryside - ideal for exploring Ireland's gems. This isn't just a place to stay - its an experience...
Unwind, relax and kick back in this very special property. If you're intrigued by Irish history and want to experience old Ireland, or if you're seeking artisitc inspiration - this place is for you. Authentically furnished with pretty patterns and traditional textures, the cottage has three bedrooms and can accommodate up to six people. The kitchen is well equipped and the bathroom cosy with a large shower. The main living area is true to traditional form: open fireplace, drop-leaf sliding dining table (to create space for Irish dancing and singing), timber mezzanine walkway, Irish trinkets on shelves, exposed beams, curved cob ceilings, cute sash windows and the famous Bodhrán (Irish musical drum). All this, with the sensitive introduction of modern conveniences to ensure a comfortable, safe, enjoyable stay. With links to the Irish Department for Culture and Heritage, it's the only rentable thatched cottage in the whole of County Longford! Renovated using century-old techniques, local building materials and labour, you'll be able to touch and smell 24" thick walls made from mud and straw. You'll be able to experience living under a thatched roof made from Irish reed; make your own fire in the open fireplace by hand selecting your Irish turf blocks from the 'home-pile' and experience the aroma of burning peat - a familiar smell for Irish inhabitants for thousands of years. Intimate tours can be arranged with the host (popular stonemason, poet and history buff) who can answer most questions about local and Irish history - a rare character. He can also show you his private collection of traditional Irish farming implements (free on request), the Haggard (on-site arts/entertainment space, on request) and if you ask...he'll even demonstrate the Bodhrán drum! Freshly ironed bed linen, extra towels, blankets and basic toiletries provided. Free off-road parking (up to 4 cars). Alternative sleeping arrangements can be organised on request. This is 'the' quintessential, immersive, Irish experience.
The cottage is located in a small, tight-knit community who will welcome you with open arms. Local shop (4 min walk), Arvagh town (5 min drive - pharmacy, pubs, banks, post office, petrol station), larger towns of Longford or Cavan (30 min drive). Nearest pub (5 min drive). Arvagh is famous for being the only place in Ireland where you can stand where three provinces meet (Ulster, Leinster and Connacht). For walkers: there's Bruse Mountain, many lakes (e.g. Lough Gowna), beautiful Irish countryside with trails. Fishermen: you'll be spolit for choice. Interested in history, there's: heritage sites including Aughnacliffe’s 5,000-year-old portal dolmen, abbey ruins, Corlea Trackway Visitor Centre (Iron-Age bog road) and more. Explorers and Sports: kyaking, boating, water sports, equestrian, golf, hiking & cycling. Fun lovers: sample Ireland's finest, rural pubs and local hospitality. Don't mention the Guinness?! Nearby: Lough Rynn Castle - a luxury castle hotel on the shores of Lough Rynn, Leitrim (20 min drive). The birthplace of 'Margaret of New Orleans' in Carrigallan (10 min drive). Lady Baltimore's Statue in Bornacoola (20 min drive). For those attending functions or require accommodation for fishing parties, the cottage is an ideal choice.
  • Lovely cottage with a great host! It has everything we need for a nice stay. A gem!

    Willem2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is an authentic experience for sure! Michael was a fantastic host. Its clear he's very passionate about the cottage and surrounding areas. Filled with local knowledge, and history he's happy to share. Lovely little touches like fresh butter and bread were much appreciated. Very helpful and accommodating to all our questions!

    Finola2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed in the cottage with the family was a great Irish experience and Mick remarkable hosting and storytelling provided a wonderful time during the storm Dennis. Mick had always the Little touch to bring into life each objects in the house and the surrounding. We stayed 3 nights, a group of 6 (3 adults and 3 children) I really recommend it to disconnect from day to day activities.

    Rony2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We spent two nights at Nanny Murphys and we couldnt recommend it enough! Mick had the fire and candles lit for us, as well as leaving some local bread and jams for us to sample!! We stayed during a very cold snap in January but the cottage was very warm and cosy at all times. Mick helped us with ordering taxis and sending us in the right direction for some hikes and local attractions. The cottage is a "one of a kind" find that really holds on to a traditional Irish feel. There is a local shop within a 2 min drive if you need anything, with a larger town 10min drive away. We will definitely be coming back!

    Therese2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful break at the most gorgeous and cozy cottage you will find in Longford. Michael was super welcoming, funny and dedicated host. He contacted us ahead of time to make sure we had the directions and had the cottage ready with candles lit and a fireplace warming out all the home. He also left for us some delicious local treats (marmalade – bread – milk – butter as well other pantry goods..) Staying in that location is a true time trip in time but with the amenities and commodities of the modern day home, a unique experience that we will repeat for sure!

    Pat2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Michael was an amazing host. He made us feel at home straight away. The cottage is absolutely beautiful and Michael should be very proud of his achievement of rebuilding this wonderful thatched cottage. He was a fountain of knowledge and history, providing tips of where to go and places to see. Definitely a home away from home. Thanks again Michael x

    Paula2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend the cottage. We had a fantastic Time. Mick was an amazing host, such a gentle, funny, wise man even showing us around the village, helping us get food for Xmas day. We would definately go again.

  • Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, great place to go if you want to get away from it all and switch off for a while. Michael is a wonderful host and gave us a great insight into the history of the house and surrounding areas. Will definitely be back!

  • Bruno’s cottage was amazing. The location was just perfect, set amongst the lakes of Cavan . We particularly enjoyed the warm, comfortable and stylish interior, with special touches such as a fruit bowl. I had the best sleep in a very comfortable bed, and enjoyed breakfast supplied by Bruno. The value was amazing and I can’t wait to go back. I highly recommend this tranquil piece of heaven . Five stars!!!

A beautiful, modern home with all the mod cons. Situated in the beautiful lakeside town of Arva, you can enjoy the stunning views of the lakes, while still in walking distance to all the town offers.

Arvagh (Irish: Ármhach, meaning "Battlefield") or Arva, is a town in County Cavan, Ireland, on the shores of Garty Lough and overlooked by Bruse Mountain. It is a scenic town situated in the centre of the drumlin belt. It lies on the border of Counties  Longford  and  Leitrim and is famous as the town where the three provinces of  Ulster,  Leinster  and  Connacht  meet. Arvagh has a hotel, the Breffni Arms Hotel, with a restaurant and bar, and there are several pubs in the town where you will be warmly greeted. Some of which have music at the weekends. The town has everything you could need, from a supermarket, newsagents, café, pharmacies and butcher to a fabulous charity shop! The end of July sees the Arva Show displaying the best that Irish agriculture has to offer. And a week later, the Breffni 3 Province Challenge will put you through your paces with a choice of a 100k cycle, 25k cycle, half marathon, 10k or 5k... All for charity!! Fishing competitions feature on our surrounding lakes, with competitors travelling from all over Europe and the UK.
  • I booked fairly last minute for Geraldine's house for a quiet weekend out of the city. Arriving late at night, with my partner, we really appreciated Geraldine's directions and help to find it. It wasn't hard, but I was weary. Entering the house we quickly realised the online photos didn't do it justice. The downstairs area was really big, roomy and super comfortable. We loved cooking in the kitchen on the sizeable stove and sitting by the fire in the lounge room. Waking up the next morning, we were so impressed by the view of the lakes and had a lovely, short walk into the village to have brunch and go shopping for second-hand books. I would highly recommend Geraldine's place for a bit of R and R away from the city. It is only a stone's throw from a beautiful lake so would be a great spot for fishing.

    Beatriz2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you! We had an excellent stay with you which was terrific through from booking to leaving. We were a mixed party of 10 visiting Ireland for a wedding nearby so this location worked out perfect for us and having the pub next door was definitely an added bonus. Cathrina was very prompt with replying to our messages and Art was awesome over the weekend making sure we had everything we needed. We would highly recommend staying here! For navigation we found the app WAZE more helpful than google/ apple maps.

  • From initial booking through to final day everything was excellent. Great Hosts and a very special Irish hospitality. An ideal venue for families and those on Tour ( we were a party of 6 Golfers) - Everything on hand and Art (Host) made sure we had everything we needed. Even drove us all to a local golf course ( as drivers were a little worse for wear!). Deserves all credit for a relaxed stay in Ireland. Staff a credit and i'm sure that is because the hosts take such care. BE WARNED!!! WE WILL BE BACK 100%. Thank you Paul & the Guys

Typical west of Ireland townhouse, renovated in 2007. Ideal base for exploring the River Shannon, Arigna Mines, golf, fishing, cycling and extensive local walks. Very peaceful location (one local shop and two pubs!!). The nearest ATM's are in Mohill, (5 miles away) at the Bank of Ireland and in the Centra Supermarket. The shop and pubs in Cloone don't take cards.
  • A lovely, spacious house located in such a pretty village. It was easy to get to and the house was ideal for where we needed to go. There were 6 of us and we had everything we needed and the place was very clean which we loved! We would definitely stay here again next year for the Cowboys and Heroes festival!

    Sonia2019-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in Cloone. The house is ideally located in the middle of the village with the local shop directly across the road and the two pubs one-minute walking distance in either direction (make sure you have cash, as Cloone has no ATMs and you can't pay by card). The house is large but homely and harks back to a time of yesteryear.

    Helen2018-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • The rooms are very comfortable. The house is spacious and does not lack bathroom and toilet. Rustic but equipped kitchen. Two living rooms and a large dining room. The internet connection is very weak in the corner (3G network rare) which allows more talk between us :-) very good value for money.

  • Emma’s place is very clean, bed very comfy and is in good proximity to the Slieve Russell hotel which we were going to for a wedding. However we did have difficulty getting a taxi from the Slieve Russell back after the wedding! But all in all an excellent host and lovely place! 😊

Mitchells of Carrigallen is located in south Leitrim between the northern and southern shores of the town lake. The town is an excellent angling centre & there is some magnificent scenery around the town. In the centre of the town is the Corn Mill Theatre which has an extensive and varied programme of events ranging from drama {amateur and professional} to variety shows music and poetry. Mitchells Bar & B&B of Carrigallen is an ideal location for your stay in Leitrim greeted by a warm welcome.

  • For lovers of Ireland, looking for a typical little Irish atmosphere to share a good Guiness by the fire and visit the beautiful countryside, this address is for you. For a fishing trip in the country of Pikes, this accommodation is central to access a multitude of lakes and rivers. Namely, on weekends, country concerts are organized in the pub, so there is more atmosphere. The breakfasts are very rich, no need to eat lunch. A good Irish address that I advise.

If you prefer we can include a full Irish breakfast or Dinner at an extra cost. Boats and guiding also available to hire. Our house is a few minutes drive from Killeshandra, Co. Cavan which is just 1.5 hours from Dublin or Belfast. This makes it a great base for touring other parts of Ireland for day trips.
We have 3 rooms available, 1 double and 2 singles. Our house is situated in a quiet residential area just outside the village. We will give you your own space but we are around if you need any help with anything. We provide books and games for your use as well as a pool table. We have a cosy sitting room where you can watch TV or just relax.
Angler’s Lodge is in a quiet countryside area, yet minutes walk from the village of Killeshandra where you will find a wonderful looped walkway through the woods and around the lake. The house is very peaceful and relaxing with no noise from traffic.
  • I was always wondering what a superhost was. Now that I met Geraldine and Paul I know. I really enjoyed my stay and I will come back for sure

    Ditmar2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Well I have to say this was a lovely place, ticked all the boxes, it’s by far the best I have stayed in.

  • Much space. Friendly and correct. To recommend.

    Paul2019-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect B&B with large rooms and comfy beds. Geraldine is extremely welcoming and charming and will make you feel right at home. Park yourself at their giant kitchen table while she gets the tea kettle going. Paul, a chef, will prepare the finest possible full fry, delicious beyond what you could imagine. Paul is also a top self fishing guide and will take you to some supreme fishing spots. He will share with you some of his secret boyhood fishing locations. The scenery is gorgeous and the fishing, for me, was tremendous. Come here if you enjoy spending the day in the boat exploring beautiful fishing holes. Killashandra is a classic Irish town, and set away from the main motorway. You can walk from the B&B to LoughBawn hotel for a hearty and tasty supper and also to Kelly's pub for a pint. Great fishing, food, hosts and scenery... looking forward to coming every year.

    Bernard2018-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • Very spacious, clean and bright room with friendly hosts who know everything about fishing (Fishing was what we were there for!). We even had dinner at Geraldine and Paul's restaurant in Ballyconnell which turned out to be surprisingly good in both food and dining environment!

  • Lovely stay, cosy house with everything we needed (they even left toys for the baby and bread, milk and eggs!) our older kids loved the outside area with the pool table etc. Just a warning, Google maps will bring you up a tractor lane! Don't do it! Drive up a bit further towards Killeshandra and take the roadway back to the left!

  • This home is charming and warm. It was a perfect spot to end our whirlwind vacation. While the home is a bit remote, they’ve left plenty of recommendations for places to see within a 45 min radius. Highly recommend!

  • Our second time staying at McCormacs Farmhouse. Once again the house and grounds were so lovely. We were staying during Storm Ciara, so we couldn't make use of the lake etc but the house was so cosy it didn't matter! The new Sibín is so cool, you really feel like you're in an old Irish pub being served some poitín! Will absolutely be back AGAIN to see PJ the pig 🐷

  • What a magical spot with breathtaking views. If you want to reach out and touch a piece of history and true Irish heritage then you should plan a stay at this beautiful farmhouse and area in general. Stayed with a group of 3 of us and there was plenty of room for more. The outside space for group fires was all set up and ready for use as we pleased. We are very thankful for this experience and we will remember for the rest of our days. Thank you once again for everything John and Sinead!

    John2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • The farmhouse is a beautiful get away place that was perfect for our family. It has great personality and we all loved PJ, the pig and the donkeys and PJ’s Buddy. I highly recommend the farmhouse as a perfect place for a group to come together. Also would be perfect place for a party outside!

    Kathy2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • This property is amazing! Every corner has hidden “gems” of the house’s history and the family tree, amazing views and just a genuine sense of home. We traveled all throughout mid and Northern Ireland, and this was our favorite by far. John and Sinead always responded quickly and were very accommodating!!!

  • Magical stay! We were totally in awe of the place and area when we arrived and had such a relaxing time. We spent most of our time cooking, eating and relaxing outside in the beautiful barn, full of history and fun. The adults, children and animals loved it. We made great friends with PJ the pig. Feels liked the rest of the world is a million miles away which is great when you need some time out. Can’t wait to return!

  • Returning to the area after a 30 year break with myself and 2 other gents in our 50++ we were looking for a comfortable base for our fishing trip. This property is superb in many ways, our hosts Geraldine and Shaun, the Cottage was absolutely fantastic, my bedroom curtains that were never closed due to the fantastic views of the lake and the Donkeys in the field and the fact the we had a visit from "Elvis" (the Dog) every morning that seemed to coincide with our breakfast and later joining us to watch TV. We unfortunately managed to have extremely unusual weather for the time of year and it was testing for fishing but we did fish and catch some special fish including 6 lb+ Bream from our door step and 5 lb Tench from the village. This is a fisherman's Paradise or a lovely place to relax and unwind.

My home lies on the banks of the river Erne. Two kms from the town of Belturbet. My house is colourful, comfortable and welcoming. There are many lovely walks along country lanes. You can also take a canoe on the river or just sit by the river and enjoy the peace and quiet. My decking overlooks the river and is a lovely place to relax. I will allow animals in certain circumstances but not in the bedrooms as I have to consider other guests.. Full breakfast €10 extra. Look forward to meeting you.

I felt very relaxed here and Betty made sure I needed nothing. Somewhat off the beaten track, quiet location, you do need a car - shops/pubs in Killashandra couple of miles away. Cavan 20 minute drive. A peaceful setting that I would highly recommend. Thank you Betty for your hospitality, my favorite bnb host this summer!

Kitty’s Cottage is located in the heart of Ballinamore town. What was once an old railway cottage has been lovingly restored into a modern and comfortable space to relax and unwind with family or friends. Plenty of dining places and pubs to choose from in and around the town. You can go hill walking on the beautiful Sliabh an Iarainn mountain close by. Try Western style riding in the Equestrian Centre, Drumcoura City, go fishing, play golf in the local golf course.
A stylish comfortable two bedroom cottage in the centre of Ballinamore. Walking distance to pubs and restaurants.
Ballinamore is a beautiful town in the North West of Ireland. It is approx 2 hours from Dublin, Galway and Belfast. 25 mins to Carrick and Ballyconnell. Drumshanbo and Mohill is 20mins away and around 40 mins to Enniskillen.
  • A beautiful cottage in the centre of the village. Probably the most comfortable and cosy stays we've been to. We had a late check in that MJ fully accommodated and the bottle of wine in the fridge was a great touch as we quickly settled into our quiet surroundings. Absolutely spotless with all the amenities needed for you to feel like you're in your own home. We will definitely be back.

    John2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage in a great location. Accommodation is very clean and furnished to a high standard. Plenty of local tips available. MJ is a great host.

    Robert2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • MJ and Fiona have created a lovely welcoming little haven in Ballinamore! It was truly wonderful to come 'home' after a long day out. The cottage has been refurbed to a very high standard and this is obvious from the good quality fixtures and fittings and the excellent finish on the walls and tiles etc. However, it is the small details such as: the abundance of white fluffy towels; nice quality hand cream; delicious cake and treats; the good quality mattress and pillows that make you feel valued as a guest and want to return and recommend the cottage to others. The cottage was ideally situated for us to visit friends and family as well as for some sight-seeing. We can recommend the Glenview Folk Museum where a very knowledgeable and funny chap will give a guided tour of a terrific collection of items that will take you down Memory Lane! For 6 euros it was really good value and if you re the only person there he will give you a personal tour! Also Glencar Waterfall - an hour's drive away through beautiful countryside will leave you 'wowed' especially if it has been raining the day before! there is also a lovely little cafe (and gift shop) that serves delicious home-made soup, cakes and salads etc. There are plenty of good restaurants in Carrick-on -Shannon - a half hour's drive away - and we can heartily recommend the Oarsman on the Main High Street for delicious, reasonably priced food and exceptional service. We had several cosy evenings with a Guiness in front of the fire in Smyth's on Ballinamore High Street and we did all our shopping in the Supervalue supermarket which sells EVERYTHING! they bake fresh soda bread every day which is delicious! There is also a Tesco at the other end of the High Street but we preferred Supervalue as we felt it was more authentically Irish with friendly helpful staff. I would highly recommend Kitty's Cottage to anyone visiting Lovely Leitrim - you won't want to leave and you will certainly want to come back! recommend

  • This is a beautiful cottage in an area with a lot to offer . We had some lovely family time there and hopefully will return someday to do and see more . Aidan and Catherine are extremely unobtrusive and the animals , and the fact that our own dog came with us , really made it very special for the children .

Dotted with shimmering lakes and rivers, this area of Ireland is a genuine boaters’ paradise. THE SHANNON-ERNE WATERWAY The Shannon-Erne Waterway traverses 62.5 kms of lake and river and still canal sections. With 16 fully automatic locks, 34 stone bridges and 6 fully serviced mooring areas, the waterway invites you to enjoy cruising, fishing, walking cycling, canoeing, golf and horse riding along Europe's longest navigable Inland waterway. Work on the original canal started in 1846 and took 14 years to complete. The dream of permanently joining the great Rivers Shannon and the Erne was fulfilled. However the canal remained open for only 9 years as the age of steam and the railways rendered the canal redundant. However, in 1994 the canal re-opened, and now pleasure cruisers ply the old waterway once again. The waterway exquisitely weaves together the streams, rivers and lakes which are picturesquely scattered between Leitrim Village and the Erne. Sixteen locks will ensure the waterway is viable and the variety of landscape and wildlife, as well as the great historical and archaeological sites en route, guarantee the popularity of this superb and peaceful highway. For the first time in 150 years, 300km of navigable waterway can be enjoyed by lovers of walking, cycling, canoeing and sailing. RIVER ERNE Eighty-four km of the River Erne is navigable from Belturbet to Belleek in Co Fermanagh. There is only one lock on the system, Portora Lock. Services are located at many locations along the river. Having been a trade route for the Vikings, the Erne system has never been a modern commerical navigation. It is truly unspoilt and tranquil leisure oriented expanse of water for boating enthusiasts and game and coarse anglers. For further information including maps and guides to both the Shannon - Erne Waterway and River Erne, contact Waterways Ireland or Inland Waterways Association of Ireland Cavan's beautiful and rugged countryside can also be enjoyed from the saddle. • We had a lovely stay over New Years Eve and my husbands birthday. The chalet is beautiful and tastefully decorated. The kitchen has all the utensils you need to stay in and cook and the living room heats up quickly when the stove is lit. Beautiful views and the doggies really enjoyed themselves too! Liz and Susie were so accomodating with early check in and late check out and messages were replied to really quickly. We will highly recommend and hopefully be back soon.

  • Delightful chalet in a perfect peaceful location, in a small gated private estate, beside River and forest. Great communication form Liz and Suzie, we had self check in and found the house easily. We loved the layout, open plan kitchen diner, with wood burning stove. Stove kept us so toasty, so we didn't need the electric radiators. Views of the river erne from the sitting room and veranda. We had everything we needed, best equipt rental we have ever stayed at. Surprised to find a bottle of wine, enough tea, coffee, hand soap, toilet rolls, wood for the stove ect... to get us started. We brought our own as other reviews said there were no basic supplied. Everything was perfect, It could not have been better. We booked activities (clay pigeon shooting and buggy karts) in an Adventure centre that is 20mins drive, which was excellent. I totally recommend this house for family getaways. We would definetly return.

  • I travelled to Belturbet in December '18 with my husband and three children. The house was extremely clean and nicely presented. It was lovely and warm. The beds were comfortable and the shower was a proper power shower. The location is very convenient to a small grocery shop, butchers, pharmacy, a good restaurant and a few nice pubs - everything you need. It is also an easy walk down to the river and the jetty.

Amazing roll top bath, relaxation personified. Big house but so warm with heating, gas stove in kitchen & electric in Sitting room so no need to bring fuel & clean out! Beautiful Lane to walk down by lake. Great food in Dillions & a shout out to Pat the local taxi driver who was more than accommodating! Outdoor bins & recycling which was perfect & so handy. My home is comfortable and welcoming. Situated on the banks of the river Erne, it is a peaceful and tranquil place to unwind. The N3 is 1 km away and the local town Belturbet is 3km drive or 2km to walk too. Cavan is 16km, Enniskillen about 30km. There are many wonderful places to explore nearby. All my rooms are ensuite. Breakfast can be ordered in advance and will cost €10 for a full breakfast. I look forward to welcoming all my guests.
My home is unique because it is my home and I love it. Every experience is different.
Beautiful in every season, I love the view, watching the swans glide by, listening to the birds, a donkey braying. Very peaceful. Good for my soul.
  • Such a wonderful and thoughtful approach she has to her guests! I don’t want to say too many good things as I should like to keep this gem all to myself. However, she deserves the best 5 star review available! It’s quiet and private as well as clean and comfy.

  • The stay at Bernadette overlooking the lake was unbelievably beautiful, we immediately felt very welcome and at home. The cottage is very colorful and decorated with attention to detail and our expectations were far exceeded in every respect. The breakfast was very generous and everything was very clean. Bernadette is a very nice, happy and helpful hostess, she gave us great tips. In addition, we were allowed to explore the lake with her canoe, thank you again for this! We had the best stay of our trip to Ireland and would have loved to stay longer. Greetings from Landshut / Germany Sonja & Florian

  • Bernie's cottage is the most wonderful Airbnb we ever stayed at. It has scenic views, as it's located right beside the river and surrounded by nature. The house is very clean and beautifully decorated and we loved sitting in the lounge with the lighted chimney having a tea and a chat with Bernie who is such a lovely person. She was also very helpful in everything we asked her. We can totally recommend that place to everybody who wants to spend a day at the countryside or just to take a day off the city. Lisa and Sarah

  • Myself and the family had an enjoyable time away, the lodge was a great space to get away. It’s a lovely setting in a Forrest park amount other lodges, it still felt very private though. The hot tub is a great addition to relax in. Unfortunately our trip was during the quarantine so I can’t comment on anything near by, we did manage to have a walk around Belturbet near by and enjoyed a walk around turbet island. I think myself and the family would enjoy another stay here.

  • Booked the cabin for over Christmas. Stayed for three nights and had a lovely time. Perfect getaway when you want to escape everyday life and lock yourselves away from the world. We cooked Christmas dinner in the kitchen and it was a great space for cooking! We lay around watching movies in the living area, very relaxing and cosy with the log burning stove lit. The bedrooms were comfy and the two bathrooms were convenient. The jacuzzi was an added bonus but the weather was so miserable we only got to use it once for ten minutes. Really recommend this place for a relaxing long weekend away with your loved ones.

  • Wonderful space for a relaxing weekend away. My husband and I spent the weekend with another couple and their baby. The cabin was in great condition, clean, warm and spacious. We had plenty of room and all the basics you would need including dishwasher tabs, oil to cook, tea bags, coffee sugar along with some other bits. Beds were comfy and bedrooms were big, big enough for a travel cot. The views were lovely with the cabin still feeling private. The hot tub was an added bonus. We didnt use the BBQ but maybe we will next summer! We are already planning to return!

  • Would highly recommend if looking for a nice, peaceful stay. Everything you would want in a log cabin in the woods. The nearest town is just a 5 minute drive to pick up essentials. Very clean & comfy, with plenty of parking.

Our home is about a 10 minute drive from the Farnham Estate hotel and right beside Killykeen Forest Park. It has all the comforts of a newly built house with character gained from its historic site. It overlooks Lough Oughter and is set in 30 acres of woodlands and fields. We are surrounded by lakes and rivers. Cavan town and the smaller town of Ballinagh are only a 15 minute drive with great restaurants and pubs. Cavan is an ideal base to have if you are visiting Dublin, Donegal or Galway.
The house is totally private on its own grounds. The views are stunning and it should really be a health farm as the peace and quiet allow everyone who stays to sleep really well! For a romantic getaway, with perhaps a dinner booked in the wonderful local restaurants, it would be hard to beat. Children love it as they are free to explore and ramble which is so rare for them in these times. The large dining room table can seat at least 10 people and would be an ideal conference venue providing quiet and no interruptions. The rooms are spacious and each with ensuite bathrooms. On a sunny day, why not have dinner around the patio table looking down to Cloch Oughter Castle and the lake?
Locally we have the various hotels and some excellant restaurants and bars. We have excellant course fishing on the network of lakes and rivers. A short stroll down the field will bring you to the shores of Lough Oughter. Cavan Kayak centre is nearby which also rents bikes.
  • Such a lovely place and surroundings.

  • Amazing house! Very specious and assorted with everything you may need. Stunning location over looking a lake and fields. Very quiet place with no houses in close proximity. We had a brilliant time and would definitely come back again!

  • We had a great time and the house is a beautiful place to stay, by a lake and with enormous sunny rooms. Sarah was quick to respond and gave good advice on the area.

  • I could not say enough good things about our stay! Sarah is an amazing host and her communication was clear and prompt. The house is absolutely stunning. It is like a mini castle. It was spotlessly clean. There were four great showers and 4 beautiful rooms. The location is gorgeous and we were able to see a bunch of hares and a few foxes while we were there which was so cool! We would stay there all the time if we could, so we will just have to return for another trip! :)

  • The house itself is beautiful, has amazing views, some great walks and amenities a few minutes down the road and a great host. All round a great stay!!!

  • Our vacation was wonderful and the house is absolutely great. We really enjoyed the garden, the nearby lake and the surroundings. The house had everything we needed and we felt very comfortable. It is really huge and offers plenty of space for all us us. Well rested and with many great new impressions we drove home again.

  • Such a beautiful home! We loved the house, patio and yard. The rooms were very spacious. Great to have a washer and two dryers! We fed Cecil and Cynthia the peanuts, just not sure who I was feeding! The home is out in the country so if you don’t mind a little bit farther drive this is for you! It is worth the drive!
