Places to stay in Cairnryan
3 bedroom masionette flat near shore front in Stranraer. Car park to rear and bus stop at front. Fully furnished and has sky tv and wifi. Its a five minute walk to the beach and to local amenities. You have great views across the Loch and countryside . My place is close to nightlife, public transport, and parks. You’ll love my place because of the comfy bed and the views. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, workmen and families (with kids). We welcome everyone.
  • After initial disappointment with the exterior appeal of the property, the inside was great. Home from home and very clean. Unfortunately we had to leave due to a boiler breakdown. The host dealt with the issue immediately and was concerned about our welfare and very apologetic. He organised an immediate full refund. Will definitely return when the boiler is sorted.

  • I stayed here for Christmas week and it was exactly what I needed, a real home away from home where I could relax in a warm comfortable quiet home. There was everything I could need to cook, the wifi was great and sky tv was an added bonus. Thank you Paul.

  • Was a great spot for us. Although we didn't get to meet Paul we had no problems getting in and communication was quick and easy. Relaxing spot with amazing views and short walk to loch Ryan. Clean and comfortable.

  • Clean and modern inside. Very warm! Surroundings wasn't as expected but the flat was spacious modern and clean. Handy parking and short drive to centre of town (3 mins or a 20min walk).

  • A great flat inside with lovely views, great value and short walk from the town. All clean and well decorated.

  • We had booked for a month stay and at the last minute, I became too ill to fly from USA to UK. Paul had to be kept updated and I'm sure this was a pain to deal with but he was very patient and communicative. When we finally did arrive, it was a relief. We had a lot of luggage since we sold everything we own and all of our earthly belongings are in our luggage and we plan to be gypsies for at least a year. The exterior of the building was not much to look at and there are two flights of stairs so I was a little concerned, but once we got inside Paul's apartment, we felt right at home. It is quite spacious and I liked the choice of soft or firm pillows and I liked the mattress in the good sized master bedroom. We especially enjoyed the view of the loch on one side and the view of pastures on the other side. The location was very good for us. We liked that we could walk or take the bus into town but were not right in the middle town since we prefer quiet and privacy. We also enjoyed the walks along the bay which could be accessed from some stairs across the street. We did not have a car for the entire time and it was fine getting around. We took a taxi if we had to grocery shop on rainy days. We just took the bus or walked into town for the rest and it's a nice walk along the water into town. People who like a lot of sightseeing may want a car. The nearest place to rent a car is across the bay where the ferry goes to Belfast and the bus goes there. We never needed a car since we just ended up resting for me to recover from my illness and only left Stranrauer twice - once to see Portpatrick and the other time was to see Kennedy Gardens. We took the bus to Portpatrick and that was easy. To Kennedy Gardens, we took a taxi (cost for RT was 14 lbs) and those are both places I highly recommend for visitors. The apartment was well equipped even for a stay as long as ours was. with plenty of towels, linens, soap, a vacuum cleaner, etc... We enjoyed the energy vibe, it felt like home to us , and we actually felt sad that we had to leave at the end of our stay. Thanks Paul.

  • This is a wonderful place to stay! Kitchen/dining on the lower level and bathroom and three bedrooms on the upper level. The kitchen had all of the basics (salt, pepper, etc). Short walk to the park (less than 5 mins) and Tesco (around 15 mins). I was very happy with my decision to stay here for the week (as, I believe, my traveling companions were) and, if I were in Stranraer again, I would definitely stay here again.

    Andrew2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Paul’s place was a convenient spacious and lovely place to stay with very comfortable bedding. We had more then enough room. I did not think there were that much stairs even though he said must be able to climb stairs. We made it just fine after we brought up our luggage. I would recommend this place!

This superb en-suite bed sitting room is separate, open to the garden and feels very comfortable. It has amenities for you to be self catering during your stay. I provide teas, coffee etc and breakfast items of your choice. There is not a separate kitchen but washing up facilities are available. Stranraer hosts great events on this beautiful Scottish coast and near the Cairnryan/Ireland ferry. The space suits those looking for longer term lodging eg. someone working /studying here.
This room has its own entrance through the garden which has mature trees for shade, shelter and privacy. There are areas for wildlife and fruit and vegetables. The path to the entrance is paved and there are steps up to it. If you cannot manage steps the front door is sloped. It is an ensuite room with single bed and small sofa bed. Most suits a single traveller or one traveling with an understanding friend or child. Two small children could be accommodated on the small sofa bed but doubt it would suit two adults.
This is a residential area of Stranraer but close to lovely hills and a short 5 minutes walk to the beach and loch. It takes 20minutes to walk into town. The town centre has some fabulous places to enjoy coffee and meals from posh to great fish and chips. A local hotel has a swimming pool and fitness suite. There is a great municipal swimming and sport facility too. This is the undiscovered gem of Scotland with great beaches, lighthouses, sea food restaurants, walks. The Mountains of Mourne put in an appearance often from the coast looking to the Emerald Isle.
  • Isobel's Airbnb was so handy, we arrived on the ferry from Ireland at 2am. Isobel left out the key in a lock box. Also the snacks and breakfast food was great to have in the morning. Overall very clean and comfy (even the fold-out bed). The fold out bed took us a few minutes to figure out but I think that was our fault because of our 2 am brains!

    Audrey2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Isobel's place is very comfortable, a little self catering flat. Very reasonable. I booked for a friend and she thought it was the best. Milk and juice, tea and coffee etc all provided and easy to walk to from the town. My friend was absolutley impressed and said Isobel was a very friendly and helpful host. She would recommend 100%. Thank you Isobel.

  • Great place to stay. I was running the Southern Upland Way so ideally located for that. Everything you need is provided by Isobel. Great host.

    Iain2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • An economical, small but well appointed room with bathroom - and a very nice host.

    Bob2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed just one night, but would happily have stayed longer. Isobel is a kind and thoughtful host.

    Carol2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Super clean, very relaxed, great communications, lovely place to stay, felt at home straight away

    Christian2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at isobel’s place before getting the ferry to Ireland. It was perfectly placed for a wander into Stranraer in the evening, and a short drive to the ferry. It was peaceful, exceptionally clean and a lovely environment for a stop over. It was a shame I couldn’t stay longer. Isobel had included many thoughtful touches, even hot chocolate and real coffee. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend .

    Linda2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful host, met us at the door to show us the space. Great private room with our own exterior entrance, best shower of the trip, and her breakfast nook saved us from having to brave the Scottish weather (it was a particularly blustery morning)! Turned a last-minute stop for the night into a place we wish we’d stayed longer.

Welcome to a haven. You will be happy to find us, with most of our guests now being repeat bookings. Our caravan is superior, from super comfy recliner sofa to a well equipped kitchen you won’t be disappointed. There is a pool, hot tub (open from April until October), laundry, bar/restaurant (Open varying times dependant on seasonal demand) and soft play. Set on Loch Ryan means stunning countryside and beaches. Ideal for families, romantic breaks, quiet retreats or a base for an adventure...
Our van is in an ideal location. It is very peaceful, but there is also plenty for families to do. the safe location means children can play and enjoy back to basic fun. There is a pool house on site which has a small pool and hot tub. This is not attended and is offered for 1 hour sole use, which you need to book at the office each day you wish to use it. The pool is open seasonally so closes from November to April. We have reflected this in or pricing. There is a large soft play, which requires adult supervision when using this area. The new bar and restaurant is really something. It has the restaurant based on the first floor which means you have perfect views across the loch and surrounding countryside. Downstairs there is a fully stocked bar and pool table. The opening times for this are season dependant currently and is usually open weekends but hours are looking to be extended. Across the other side of the Loch is the two ferry ports for P&O and Stenna. Both these ports offer a park and ride and deals can be found on their website for day crossings over to Belfast, well worth a trip. Locally there are so many walks and adventures to be found. We are compiling a full list for our guests but there is also lots of information online. Some attractions worth mentioning are Dunsky Maze and Gardens towards Portpatrick, Stranraer Museum, Dunsky Castle (this involves a fairly steep climb) plus many more. The area is renowned for bird watching and also star gazing. Any enthusiast would not be disappointed in this location. Fancy going a little further, it is roughly an hours drive to Ayr where there are brilliant attractions such as Heads Of Ayr Fun Park (our family favourite) We can provide a travel cot instead of one of the single beds if this is required. Also we have wrap around decking with a gate making the outside area safe for toddlers. Having 4 children we have tried to plan every aspect to make your stay more comfortable. We do welcome small and well behaved dogs, but we would ask that you respect the furniture and keep them to just the living area so that it can be fully cleaned ready for following guests. We have had all lengths of stay, from a few nights to (more recently) 3 months, even having a few people add on a few extra nights to their stay where possible.... We find that because we take bookings from a number of outlets, we can suddenly become booked up, so would urge people to book as soon as they can to avoid any disappointment. PLEASE NOTE The caravan site facilities are unavailable from November through to March. This is because they are closed for the season but the site is still open. This means the pool and bar will not be available hence our lower rates in these months. There is a local swimming pool in the town. Please contact before booking if you would like to clarify anything.
Our neighbourhood is a small beach surrounded by fields and countryside.... Perfect! We are 10 minutes drive from the main town of Stranraer where you will find many local shops, including a small Tesco and a much larger Morrisons, where there is also a petrol station. There are takeaways and restaurants and lots of other amenities.

Our cottage room is situated to the rear of our house. It is completely separate (allowing you total privacy and quietness) and opens onto a little courtyard. There is also a floral terrace for guests to enjoy a coffee or perhaps a glass of wine. The cottage room is spacious and bright with an en-suite shower room. Egyptian cotton towels and toiletries are provided. You can be assured of a warm Scottish welcome, including a complimentary tea tray on arrival.
Continental breakfast is included in the price. Please let me know in advance if you have specific dietary requirements and I will do my best to accommodate your needs.
Ballantrae is a little coastal village in the south west of Scotland. A little hidden gem where you can enjoy the stunning rugged Scottish coastline. The village is well served for amenities such as a large shop, a small hotel and a garden centre with cafe. The area is known for fishing, wildlife, walking (Ayrshire Coastal Path) and golf and is within easy reach of the championship courses at Turnberry and Troon. There is a good selection of golf courses in the local towns of Girvan and Stranraer and surrounding areas. Culzean Castle with woodland walks and spectacular coastal scenery is only a thirty minute drive away. Why not take a boat trip from nearby Girvan over to Ailsa Craig, the local bird sanctuary, where you will find gannets and puffins galore and so much more. Don't forget your camera. There are many public gardens in the surrounding area of Dumfries and Galloway and the Galloway Forest Park is a short drive away.
  • Place was ideally located for the Irish ferries. Nice and cosy and peaceful. Highly recommended.

  • This place is the most special and sweet bed and breakfast that we have ever stayed in. We met Jim- Dorothy's husband- and he showed us such amazing kindness and hospitality. There was easy street parking, the place was easy to find, the guest house was SO cozy and adorable! The pictures simply don't do it justice. There were so many small details throughout the guest house that made the entire experience so special, and made us feel at home. Breakfast was AMAZING! Thank you!

    Anna2019-09-15T00:00:00Z

Want to experience the stunning views of Loch Ryan in newly built, high quality accommodation? With the ferry to Ireland being a 15 minute drive away, this room is the ideal place to stay before sailing to Northern Ireland. Or if you’re looking for a trip of walking, cycling, golfing, or sailing (to name a few) you’ll find that this room is in the perfect location. It is a 20 min walk/ 5 min drive to Stranraer town centre, where you can find the Castle of St. John and quality businesses.
In rural town close to local amnenities.
  • We had a lovely time at the loft, it was stylish, cosey with exceptunal views looking over Loch Ryan. The room was clean, light and decorating neutral which gave a relaxing feel. The bathroom had a nice big shower with plenty towels and the added touch of a basket filled with a selection of miniature pampering lotions and potions. Julie communicated well with us and we were greeted warmly on arrival. Nothing seemed to be too much of a bother. We found it an ideal peaceful location but not too far from the town centre where there is plenty, not too pricey places to eat. We used the loft to explore area, covering Mull of Galloway, Portpatrick, Dunskey Castle and further north to Corse wall Lighthouse and finished with a tour around Castle Kennedy Gardens. We look forwrd to returning again soon to explore more of the area. Thank you for having us Julie.

    Michael2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely hosts providing everything and much more than an hotel room could. A few minutes walk or cheap taxi into town, a great location with views. Highly recommend.

    Ann2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had an excellent short stay in Julie's loft and it is stylishly furnished to a very high standard, spotlessly clean, great there is black out blinds too for a good nights sleep. Bed was very comfy and little touches like touch sensor lights where a good idea. Uninterrupted views to the sea, fab little outdoor seating area and burner which on a summer's night would be amazing and given it was supposed t be Hurricane Ciara we had blue sunny skies each day. It was windy in the night but loved hearing it around the property when toasty in bed. Excellent bathroom, loved the hot power shower and Julie left plenty of towels and if you did forget something there was a basket of mini products to assist. Easy to find and a great base to do a huge tour circle of Dumfires and Galloway right down to Mull of Galloway too. Lot's to see and do, you would not be bored. Try the Colfin Creamery restaurant best restaurant by far locally and not too far away, Landos in Stranraer was probably the best but could do with more muted lighting of an evening. Portpatrick is a lovely harbour and we got to explore so many ruins, lighthouses, abandoned buildings etc so a very productive trip considering out of season. Excellent communication and would highly recommend a stay here as its restful, private and easily accessible.

    Gail2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place was wonderful! So clean and cozy, and Julie was a fantastic host. The GPS stops you about 250 yards down the road but the location is beautiful, easy to drive to, and close to the ferries as well. We loved our stay at the loft 💙 I would love to stay again! There are a few cute cafes in town (fig and olive 👌🏻) and some castles nearby as well if you want to stick around the area. Perfect experience! Thankyou Julie.

    Megan2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Overall fabulous stay! Would definitely recommend to others and can’t wait to return.

Welcome to Stranraer, a coastal town located at the corner of south west Scotland. Our home is only yards away from the marina where you can take in the views of the bay on a relaxing stroll. Just as close as the marina are shops, pubs and restaurants from the apartment. Our apartment is on the 2nd floor from where you can see the bay. The entire apartment is yours, with a super king size bed (which can be converted into twin beds) guaranteed to give you a very comfortable sleep.
  • Excellent space, good information for getting around on arrival , and easy check in and out.

  • My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Bayview apartment in Stranraer. It was clean, comfortable and perfect for our needs. I particularly enjoyed the shower. Thanks to our hosts who were incredibly informative with their recommendations and thoughtful with special little touches - e.g. fresh milk in fridge and cookies. Would recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area and would book again in future.

  • A brand new modern caravan with a lovely homely feel. Super comfy beds and clean fresh linen. Dog friendly which was a major selling point for us. The caravan park is lovely and quiet, owners very friendly and helpful. We got exclusive use of the pool everyday for an hour. Our only negative was the long winding single track 3 mile drive to the nearest shop/pub/petrol station. The pub on site wasn't serving food during our stay and there's nowhere to buy provisions like milk and bread. (Buy these things on the way vin and you're good to go!) Would definitely recommend if you want to get away from it all!

  • This a great place in Ayrshire. The trailer is at the back of the park with a great view overlooking farm fields and forests. We even saw a deer and a fox in the fields. The second bedroom is quite small, but the rest of the place is great. There is also a restaurant/pub in the park. We would recommend this to anyone staying in the area.

  • Kate’s home is luxury plus. The bedroom and bathroom are amazing and there is a separate guest sitting with magnificent views looking across farmland to the water. Kate and Ian are warm and welcoming hosts who are only to happy to share their knowledge of the area. Great cooked breakfast. We have stayed in many B&Bs in Scotland but this would be the best. If you are staying in the area Kate’s place is the place to stay. Thank you again.

    Carol2019-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Kate is a spectacular host! She anticipated our needs for transportation once we finally arrived at Stranraer. We had quite a long journey and Kate made our arrival so welcoming! She even left a special treat for our anniversary! Her place was superb with stunning views from her hilltop home that overlooks the city and the bay. The stars at night were also a treat as her home was designed to enjoy the views that are abundantly available in Southern Scotland! We had a truly luxurious suite with ensuite restroom and access to a sitting room for our personal use on the second floor that displayed the grandeur of the hills, mountains , valleys and Loch Ryan. Kate cooked us the most amazing breakfast before once again caring for our transportation to the ferry to Ireland. We could not have asked for a better experience! You want to stay here if you have any plans to visit this part of Scotland!

A luxury holiday cottage consisting of a wing of Kildrochet House, an early 17th Century Grade B listed building. Set within 5 acres of it's own land and situated in the beautiful countryside of Wigtownshire, South West Scotland. We started this listing in 2013 but only put the bare essentials in. Only today, April 4 2018 have we actually finished it. This is why we have had no guests or reviews from Airbnb so far! You can find 5-star reviews for us on Trip Advisor.
A luxury holiday cottage consisting of a wing of Kildrochet House, an early 17th Century Grade B listed building. Set within 5 acres of it's own land and situated in the beautiful countryside of Wigtownshire, South West Scotland. The cottage is beautifully furnished and decorated to a luxurious standard and provides an oasis of tranquility. Close to the delightful coastal harbour villages of Port Patrick and Port Logan with wonderful country views. Kildrochet Holiday Cottage is in peaceful extensive, beautifully kept mature gardens with open space for children to play and garden furniture for relaxing and dining outdoors. A spacious home which sleeps 2, is quiet and secluded, but there is also an optional fold-up bed for a third adult or child. Pets are also welcome. A perfect place for a couple to base a walking holiday from, to go golfing, to explore Logan Botanical Gardens or just to relax in the many country pubs in the area. Please also see our adjacent one bedroom property on Airbnb - "The Studio, Beach 10mins, Portpatrick 15mins". This may be particularly useful for groups of 3 or 4 travelling together as it also sleeps 2.
We are surrounded by farms and woods. We often have our farmer neighbours' cows or thoroughbred racehorse in our front paddock. We are 7 - 20 minutes from a number of beaches and coves as well as the pretty traditional village and harbour of Port Patrick from where, for hikers, the Southern Upland Way begins it's journey across Scotland to the east coast. We are a 45 min drive from the UK's largest National Park, the Galloway Forest National Park, which includes a major mountain bike circuit for leisure and competition. We have several gardens and estates close by with public access as well as castles, for example Castle Kennedy and Logan Botanical Gardens. Several golf corses are are very nearby, including the world famous Turnberry Hotel and Golf course. Two ferry companies sail to Northern Ireland - Belfast and Larne - from Cairnryan which is only about 8 miles from the property.
  • Gorgeous! A special treat staying in such a stylish and historic building. Loved the layout across 3 floors and, most of all the beautiful light in the upper rooms which made waking up in the glamorous bedroom a real joy! We loved sitting on the window seat in the first floor lounge just watching everything going on in the splendid gardens. All the household items were very good quality and we particularly loved the bedding and fluffy white towels. The weather was mixed but we had a glorious day at Sandhead where we, and our dog, were the only people on the beach. Fantastic!

  • We had a lovely long weekend at Phillips place. The cottage is in a very quiet, rural setting but is just a short drive away from Stranraer and all the amenities there. The cottage is also very close to the picturesque town of Portpatrick and the coast. The house is very clean, tastefully decorated with cosy. It has all you need to enjoy a great weekend retreat and is in an ideal location for exploring the Rhins of Galloway.

  • This apartment provided the ideal base for our 3-day visit around the area. The grounds around the apartment is very peaceful (countryside with garden and wooded landscape). Well equipped and spacious, the 2.5 storey apartment has a large bedroom with ensuite bathroom on the top level, a nicely appointed living room on the middle floor, and a large kitchen and dining area on the ground floor. Windows on all levels look out to beautiful garden or wooded areas of the property. Philip is an excellent host (thoughtful, prompt, etc.).

  • This was our second stay at Philip’s place having booked this trip whilst still on our first visit! Again the location was excellent, hospitality welcoming and the house was perfect for the two of us and our two dogs. We are already planning our return trip for next year! Thank you again!

  • Caravan park is very quiet place to take a rest after active exploring of south west of Scotland. Me and my family where happy to stay there for couple of nights. Caravan is tidy and clean, we had no time to use all the devices inside (wi-fi, tely, etc.) so I cannot say anything in that matter. I would like to come to this place once again somewhere in the future for longer than two days.

  • Hilary is a lovely lady and her communication is fab. The w.c, bathroom and kitchen were all very clean and the shower had great water pressure for a caravan. The beds were very comfortable which surprised me as previously when I've stayed in similar statics they haven't been. Hilary left lots of thoughtful touches like citronella candles incase there were bugs outside. Kitcgen basics, toiletries, towels. Childrens, books, toys and games & even bucket and spades. Also DVD's for all. We were out 80% off the 3 days we spent there due to fabulous weather. We visited Port Logan beach, Logan botanical gardens, Port Patrick and Culzean Castle. Hilary was very helpful in suggesting most of these and is generally just a great host and nice lady. We used the on-site swimming pool a good few times which you book out for private use in 45min slots via the site management. My wee boy loved it and we weren't worried he was splashing people as we had it to ourselves. The decking area attached to the caravan is gorgeous with nice views and lovely wild rabbits hop around the surrounding area along with ducks. The people of Ballantrae and surrounding areas couldn't be nicer and the onsite staff were fab too. We ate in a wee local hotel in Ballantrae a night. Basic pub grub but tasty and the staff were nice. Most of the places we visited were 40mins to an hour away with beautiful scenery. All in all a fab holiday.

    Jill2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Just got home and had such a great trip. Hilary was so helpful before we arrived. The caravan is really lovely; well equipped and spotlessly clean. If we're going to be back in the area for another trip we'd love to stay there again. We ate at the Duck or Grouse on the site which was good with large, reasonably priced portions. Highly recommended!

Known as "The Studio", our new one bedroom apartment is a conversion of outhouses within the grounds of our early 17th century main house. Flooded with light from the front doors and skylights, it has a very contemporary, 'Manhattan loft' character while maintaining a very cosy feel to it. It sits in 5 acres of land comprising of a lawn, paddock and wooded area. Only 3 miles from the facilities of Stranraer and around a 7 minute drive to both the beach and a forest.
We do not accept dogs although those wishing to visit with friends or family could book together with our adjacent one bedroom property which does accept dogs (please see Kildrochet House - "Country Cottage/ Beach 10mins/ Portpatrick 15mins" on Airbnb where you can also see our positive reviews.) Built to a very high standard with clean lines, exposed beams and brick/stonework, we used mostly recycled stone and brick from the previous buildings and the old byres. The kitchen/lounge area is open plan with high vaulted ceilings with floor to ceiling windows and double doors which open out onto a patio with a table and chairs. The bedroom leads from this and is separate from the main living area. There is a separate bathroom with walk in shower. Other highlights include a wood burning stove, coffee pod machine with Nespresso milk frother, Alexa music player and courtyard. The UHD smart TV also has a built in premier Netflix subscription available to guests and there is high speed fibre optic wifi. Coffee pods, tea and some milk is provided. Guests with bikes can lock them in the stables (although the property is generally very safe for leaving them outside anyway.)
We are only about a seven minute drive to both the huge Sandhead Beach (Luce Sands) and the Torrs Warren forest. The lovely harbour village of Portpatrick is 5 miles away with it's coastal walks, pubs and restaurants. We have many first class gardens nearby, including Castle Kennedy and the Logan Botanical Gardens. For children and families, there is the Laggans Activity Park nearby.
  • This is a lovely place in a lovely area. Stylish, modern, warm, a clever use of space, and a comfortable bed. The owners are great, friendly and helpful, and we had just what we needed, a peaceful and adventurous week of respite. We'd also like to thank Philip for keeping us well supplied with firewood.

    Anna2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our three night stay. The Studio is immaculate and very stylish. The log burner was a welcome feature, which made the cooler evenings very cosy and there was a plentiful supply of logs provided, which was much appreciated. The bed is extremely comfortable and all bedding and towels were supersoft. The large smart tv with Netflix is another bonus. It really is a home from home. The studio is in a very quiet area but within easy reach of town for shops and restaurants. We visited Portpatrick, the Mull of Galloway, a nearby forest and other towns and villages, which were all well worth a visit. We would recommend this place without hesitation, as it's lovely and in a beautiful part of Scotland.

    Jane2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Philip's airbnb is a wonderful space. It is perfect for a long weekend a way but we could have moved in. The decor is classy but still cosy. Philip's hospitality was great, we arrived on a dark and blustery evening to find he'd already started the fire to warm the apartment. The fire was definitely one of the higights. There are lots of high quality appliances and extras such as a nespresso coffee machine with pods and a milk frother. The large double bed is quite soft but still very comfy. 10/10 would go back and recommend.

This is a bespoke Shepherd's Hut designed for couples and singles, set in a 12 acre ornamental garden with Sea Views & Lakes. Close to beaches, Golf, Fishing, and the attractive seaside village of Portpatrick, with restaurants. The ferry to Belfast & Larne (6 ) at Cairnryan. Stranraer ( 7) miles with all facilities. In the cooler months the log fire heats the hut up very quickly. Wood provided. Drying facilities at house. If you want something different Glenwhan is the place for you.
You have a combination of the lovely Shepherd's Hut set in 12 acres of renowned 4 star Ornamental Gardens, with seats and walkways, together with a 17 acre Moorland Walk. The Hut has it's own 'Sitouttery' and is blended into the gardens. If you are a horticulturalist, Golfer, Fisherman or Hill Walker or Star Gazer Galloway Forest is the place. Or just plainly want to get away from it all you have found the right spot.
Wigtownshire is one of our a best kept secrets, with beautiful hill walking in the Galloway Hills, renowned Galloway Forest for looking at the Stars, and generally a very green and pleasant land. Quiet unspoilt beaches are close by and many walks abound with the Southern Upland Way passing close by. Ayr , Glasgow, and Dumfries are within easy reach for all your shopping. Train & and Bus station at Stranraer with bus stop at Dunragit village. Stena and P&0 ferries are within easy reach at Cairnryan.
  • The shepherd's hut is both airy, with it's calming cream and natural toned colour scheme, as well as cozy, with a comfortable king size bed, fluffy duvet and pillows and a mini woodburner that keeps the hut beautifully warm and toasty. We couldn't make the most of the beautiful setting due to Storm Dennis, but even in the wind and rain we could see how fabulous it is.

    Paula2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place. Cabin is cosy with everything you need. Setting is excellent.

    Adam2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We booked here because it was convenient for the Southern Upland Way, and couldn't believe our luck when we turned up to find the most charming and delightful hut. In frost, the moon just past full, we explored the magical garden. King size bed is luxury in this tiny space; everything else is small and perfect. We loved it. Thank you Tessa for making this possible, and for lighting the wood stove before we got there!

  • You can expect escapism from the hustle and bustle of life. Magnificent gardens and your own private space. Would highly recommend

  • Tessa’s shepherd’s hut is absolutely AMAZING! It’s very well equipped with a really comfy bed, fab little kitchen with everything you’d need to cook a meal (2 ringed hob, pots and pans, kettle etc), a gorgeous little stove which got the hut really cozy, and a modern bathroom. The hut is so beautifully decorated and feels really homely. The gardens were outstanding and made our stay so peaceful! Tessa is really friendly and recommended a fab pub for our dinner (Tiag Na Mara). We will be recommending this to everyone, it’s a hidden gem!! Thanks Tessa!

  • My son and a friend had a great stay at Donald's Airbnb. The food, the friendliness and the cleanliness stood out and the location is really good for many places including Stranraar. I was also impressed that Donald showed me how to rebook as 2 parties and save money, as one of the party was only booking for one night. Altogether a great stay Thanks!!

  • Lovely place for a convenient stop en route to the Ferry port, Donald has the best Scottish accent I've heard :)

  • Very convenient and comfortable B&B on the way to Stranraer: not far from motorway but already in a quiet countryside not far from beautiful gardens of . Glenwhan and Logan Botanical gardens. The pictures does not show justice to the level of accommodation. The twin e.g. is much more spacious than you would think from the foto. Breakfast is great. Donald and Janet are very friendly and welcoming hosts, easy to communicate with.

  • I had a very good experience at Donald's place! Easy communication, big, comfortable, clean room with nice touches, and a perfect full scottish breakfast! I'd definitely stay here again, if I'd come back to the area.

  • We booked this cracking little property to attend a family funeral so it wasn’t the greatest of reasons to visit but nevertheless Anne was a great host and the stay was lovely with some gorgeous hillside views. I’d recommended this property if you are looking to explore the local area and want to enjoy a peaceful stay.

  • Everything about this accommodation is first class; it is wonderfully private and in the middle of the countryside, but you can walk to the centre of Stranraer in 15 minutes. The facilities are excellent, and the hot tub was a real draw for us & didn't disappoint. Anne and Peter were excellent hosts, and the welcome pack on arrival was very thoughtful. I would not hesitate to recommend this accommodation, as well as the bigger accommodation, the Byre, next door, and we definitely hope to return.

  • The Bullpen is set in a beautiful area of Scotland and the accommodations are of the highest standard. The rooms are all large and airy and very attractively furnished. The hot tub and outside furnishings and area are excellent and the perfect location to enjoy a lovely evening. Anne and her husband were both extremely welcoming and friendly and the welcome basket was a very thoughtful touch. The little extras in the accommodations were much appreciated and certainly take this venue to the next level. Would highly recommend a visit to The Bullpen and I’ll most certainly be returning.

Rose Blair Lodge brings you the the most uplifting and tranquils retreat where the free-spirits can prance freely to the untamed beats of their hearts. Tucked into rolling meadows and matured woodlands, the lodge features an outdoor bathtub nestled among shrubs and flowing vines. This is a luxury abode where one can truly run wild, to meander down the path along a babbling brook to the long beaches and tidal rushes of the Dunskey Glen.
We are exceptionally proud to offer this ultra-romantic, back-to-nature retreat, within a stone's throw of Dunskey Castle. This lovely fairy-house welcomes guests to fall into step with the gentle rhythms of the rural resort that is Dunskey Estate. Stroll past the moss-covered stone wall that surrounds the cottage and drink in the endless open fields. Here, we focus on pure relaxation and escape, where you can wake up to birdsong, and curl up at night in front of the wood burning stove.
Portpatrick Village has a public tennis court, putting green, golf course, beaches, and many restaurants. It is a very family-friendly destination.
  • A total gem of a place! Beautiful setting and perfect for long walks. A lovely costal walk into portpatrick too from the house. The most comfortable beds! The kitchen has everything you need and the extra touches were most appreciated after our long drive. Highly recommended.

  • Throughly recommend this place. We stayed in rose Blair cottage tucked away just off the road, pathway right opposite with little woodland trails leading to waterfalls and ending up on 2 beautiful little beaches that had paths along the coastlinetaking you right into town. It was the perfect getaway for my partner and I who just wanted space & privacy to enjoy our own company and nature. The cottage has everything you need, the bed was incredibly comfortable and the house exceptionally clean. Little sweet treats upon arrival were a really nice touch too. Thank you, would defintely come back. :-)

  • This is a beautiful lodge within a huge estate. We were a family of four and a dog. We had 3 whole days on the estate itself, fishing on the Loch on owners fishing boat, long walks, secluded beaches, maze and garden. So much to do. Lodge was well equipped (no dish washer) but we weren’t bothered about this, super clean beds and good quality mattresses. Private enclosed garden and lots of deer, grouse, pheasant running freely. 2 Lochs and 2 secluded beaches. Incredible walks and lovely village of Portpatrick a 20 min walk away.

    Natalie2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay on the Dunskey Estate was truly magical. The Estate is so beautiful, with paths through a stunning landscape; lochs, gardens, sea coves, woodland glens. Lovely walk along the coast to Portpatrick and north along Sothern Upland Way. The cottage was charming and well appointed. Everyone we met from the estate was friendly and welcoming.

    Cathy2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic cottage, great location with lots of wildlife and nature trails to explore. Thanks for having us !

    Sally2018-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed the woodland location and the full set of creature comforts. Anne, Al and Debra i were friendly and responsive. The walks to the beaches and Portpatrick filled each day with varied and healthy activities. The estate has many more delights we barely glimpsed. I would love to come back and row around the loch a bit or experience a snowy winter with the cosy log burner going in the cottage. Highly recommended.

    Adrian2018-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Rose Blair cottage was exactly as advertised. We came for peace, quiet and country walks, and got exactly that. We loved the fire in the evenings after a long day out. Plenty of beautiful spots - coastal and inland. Lovely walled garden, maze, glens, lochs. 20 mins walk into Portpatrick for pub fare or a pint and just 15 mins drive to a big supermarket if you want to self-cater. We spent a week and could have had longer. One thing to note, the tea rooms are no longer open. Very attentive hosts when we needed some help to operate washer and shower. A definite “hit” with the family.

    Nadine2018-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was really nice and comfortable. While a traditional, older cottage on the outside, the inside was completely refurbished with a new kitchen and bath. The kitchen was well stocked, and the hostess had left us some homemade goodies as a treat. The decor was perfect for the cottage - comfortable, classic, with quirky touches. Walks to the beach area and through the wooded garden areas were beautiful! And there were swans on one of the lakes :-) All and all a relaxing, enjoyable place to stay.

  • An absolute gem! When myself and my partner go away, we spend so long searching for the perfect accommodation that fits all of our wants and needs, and having an energetic, young dog that needs her space and freedom to run is always on the top of our priorities. Fern Forrest house on the gorgeous Dunskey estate managed to tick every one of our quirky criteria’s. It’s beautiful clean and decorated gorgeously, it feels cosy but you have plenty of space, the kitchen is very well equipped and aided in cooking some mouth-wateringly good food. The estate grounds are very impressive, with lots to see and do from the front door. The hosts were kind and considerate. Even down to the incredible home made welcome pack, everything was just perfect. We can’t wait to come and stay again some time!

  • The cottage is fantastic. Location is absolutley idyllic and our stay there was everything we could have hoped for. Agi and her team left some delicious treats for us upon arrival, and were only a text or phone call away for any questions. Highly recommended!

  • We had a really relaxing and very cosy Christmas at the house, it is stunningly and stylishly decorated, cosy and comfortable, everything we wanted. The team on the estate were great, providing great treats on arrival and loads of firewood. The house is perfectly equipped with everything we needed including lovely toiletries and that most overlooked holiday let essential, sharp knives! The kitchen is a joy to cook and eat in. We loved walking round the grounds, to the beach and down the Portpatrick. All in all a prefect week away, a big thank to the team on the estate for making it perfect.

  • Anne’s place was beautiful and we booked this for my parents 28th wedding anniversary. They could not recommend the estate enough and it’s peaceful surroundings. Anne and her husband were excellent hosts and helped out very quickly when they had issues with the heating. They also left a lovely cake with was very much appreciated. We look forward to coming here as a family and spending time at this beautiful estate

  • Literally couldn’t have had a better stay. 6 of us stayed for the week and were greeted by the hosts as soon as we arrived. They were very welcoming, gave us tips and a strawberry pie! The place was sensational- cottage was perfect and the grounds were stunning. Would definitely come back here.

  • Staying at Dunskey was magical. You’re surrounded by beautiful nature and staying in a stunning place. Everyone was so nice and accommodating- it was such a joy to spend 2 weeks here. There’s beautiful little touches that helped make my stay spectacular - the eggs, the homemade jam, the toiletries and the fire place! I can’t recommend it highly enough!

  • The loft space was just wonderful .Anne's stylish taste in decor and thoughtful additions to our escape to space were so enjoyed and the surroundings offered us and our family all we could want from the great scottish outdoors we know and love, rain or shine.

  • Dunskey Estate is a magical gem of a place, and my stay here was the highlight of my trip to Scotland! The apartment itself is beautifully appointed with everything you could need. The grounds are even more spectacular, and I enjoyed many walks to the beaches, lochs, gardens and into town. Portpatrick township is within walking distance (although a bit of a trot), and has lots of nice pubs to enjoy a meal and beer. All in all, I would highly recommend Dunskey Estate to anyone visiting Scotland and wanting a true experience. Thanks Anne and Ali for having me!
