Charming 200 old converted stable/barn, in a great location, perfect for a relaxing getaway! Sleeps two comfortably, surrounded by stunning views of mountains and lakes in the heart of Connemara, ideal location for hill walking, and fishing
  • Williams cottage sits in one of the most beautiful spots you could imagine. Once the sun shines, you get the best views ever! Sitting in front of the fire in this wonderful rustic cottage was just perfect for relaxing. Thanks to William we had an unforgettable time, we will definitley come back to walk, hike and enjoy the landscape!

  • William is a wonderful host, responding quickly to questions and requests. He is a great resource of knowledge about things to do in the area and appreciates and enjoys the natural beauty of the mountain adjacent to the property and parks beyond. The renovated barn is rustic but comfortable and is a great retreat for the solo traveler; although it could also be the perfect place for a couple to spend some quality time together.

  • Beautiful views and a cozy space.

  • The Barn was exactly what I expected to find and the perfect spot for my solo-retreat. It was cozy and in the perfect location to go on hikes on the hills behind. William was very attentive in case I needed anything and gave me a tour of Connemara that included all the important spots.

  • What can I even say, there are no words to describe the feeling we had when we arrived at William's place. It feels as if the cottage is located on the edge of the world, hidden behind the beautiful mountains of Connemara. The Air BnB itself was wonderful, it's your very own hobbit house in the middle of nowhere. The fireplace was ready to burn, and William made sure to give us some great recommendations, like eating a seafood chowder at John J. Burke's Bar & Restaurant (MUST TRY!). Don't forget to just relax and take in the breathtaking views of Connemara, while hiking or just driving around. Would highly recommend!

  • Had a lovely weekend with my partner at William’s cottage. Excellent location for hiking and a quiet weekend by the fire. Would definitely recommend!

    Niamh2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Williams place is great for a cosy getaway or for a hiking trip. Lots of great forests and hill walks are within driving distance and the cottage itself was a pleasure to stay in with all the essential amenities and lovely homely touches. William was a great host, very quick to respond to any questions and quickly available if you needed anything.

  • Philip, Patricia, their kids and their dogs were perfect hosts. The stone barn is very well equipped and comfortable. During the winter the fire place is heating up the space and Philip is there to assist, whenever needed. The sorroundings are beautiful, especially to explore Connemara. Cong is 5 kilometers Away and welcomes you with nice Cafés.

  • Clonbur House is an attractive building in a great location - very convenient for the pubs, restaurants and shop, with plenty of free parking. The apartment is fresh, modern, clean and cosy inside- especially with the wood stove burning on a cold windy night. Hugh was flexible with our check-in, we gave him a call when we arrived and he was there to welcome us within minutes. Clonbur is a very friendly village with access to beautiful countryside right on the doorstep. We had a fantastic week in early March and would highly recommend Clonbur House as a base for exploring this part of Ireland.

  • A well renovated and well located studio to discover Connemara and Joyce's Country. Close to the apartment, the Burke 's pub offers very authentic music evenings on Wednesday and Friday nights. One downside: the sound insulation of the apartment.

This cottage has been in our family for more than a generation - it boasts stunning views over Lough Mask and offers a beautiful space for up to 6 persons - families, fisherman and outdoor enthusiasts will all have a great time here! The Cottage is located outside the village of Clonbur, in beautiful Connemara. Enclosed in pristine nature, the lush grassland, its stone walls, hills, mountains, as well as two of the largest lakes in Ireland invite you to relax and enjoy the house and nature.
This rustic, detached cottage is situated on a large piece of land, just outside the village of Clonbur. If you want to relax and unwind in pure tranquility then this is the perfect place. The cottage enjoys a remarkable secluded position overlooking Lough Mask. You get the whole cottage, surrounded by almost an acre of land overlooking the lake. You can do lots of outdoor actitivies close by: fishing, horseback riding, hiking, hunting, fine dining or golfing - you name it! Enjoy your stay! The Cottage offers • 3 bedrooms for up to 6 people (2 double beds, 2x2 single beds) • a baby cot and a booster seat for kids • a fully equipped kitchen (electrical stove, sink, baking oven, fridge, etc.) • a living room with an open fire place and a good stereo (you can connect your iPhone/MP3 player to the stereo through an existing cable via the headphone plug) • a recently modernized bathroom with shower and – of course – hot water. A blow-dryer is available as well as a new washer-dryer. • another large dining room (winter garden) with amazing views • a newly built stone terrace behind the house for barbequing or outdoor breakfasts when then weather is fine
The cottage is situated outside the village of Clonbur within rural Irish structures. It’s very close to some unbelievable scenery and hikes, and the surrounding towns have all the provisions and hospitality to make your stay even more spectacular. You will be sufficiently far away from anyone to enjoy your free time but still close enough to walk down to the local pub. You can walk up the winding roads from the cottage, towards Mount Gable, and you are unlikely to see another tourist, maybe just one of the friendly, farmer neighbours who are all extremely friendly, open and helpful people.
  • The house is a beautiful cottage with an amazing view to the Connemara. You’ll have all the information needed before your arrival. The house might be difficult to find when it’s dark. However it’s a perfect location and I would go back here again !

    Adrien2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage has a breathtaking view: the living room and kitchen overlook Lough Mask and its islands. Connemara is very scenic and invites to hiking and excursions to the sea. We felt very well in the cottage, which lacks nothing. Dennis has given us very good tips for trips and walks. The only thing we regret is that we did not stay longer. A good reason to come back. Many thanks to Dennis, Sarah to Marvin, that we were allowed to experience a few wonderful holidays in their house.

  • Very nice stay in this cottage ... a beautiful view that gives the impression of being in a postcard. It is very well located near all amenities (shops, post office, pubs, pharmacy ...), small walks around and great hikes ... Good communication with the owners ... very responsive if necessary.

  • French: We had a wonderful time in this incredible region, the return is very difficult. The house is very nice and original by its design of different rooms. Regarding the view, it's simply breathtaking! The lake in the distance, the vast green pastures with the cows, horse make dream every waking and sleeping! Not far away, a town called Cong amazed us and of course Galway for the dynamic and musical side ... We had the courage to go to the Cliffs of Moher, just amazing. For the "negative" side, it is true that some parts lacked maintenance but I can not blame Dennis, perhaps the fault of the guard or just other less concerned tenants? In short, this is not what we remember from the trip, it is ultimately only details. Dennis was responsive and I was even surprised to have a mail back after 23h (yes!), Nothing to say except that it was perfect communication level. Thanks again and certainly see you soon! Our home is in a rural setting on the edge of famous Connemara! We are very lucky to be situated between two of the largest lakes (Loch Corrib & Loch Mask) in the Republic of Ireland. If you have an interest in fishing there a number of local guides who can take you out on the lake. The West of Ireland is known for its scenery and we have one of the best views of the lake you will find! There are lots of walking/hiking trails nearby. We are very lucky to be so close to the picturesque village of Cong. Cong is well known for its award winning food scene, famous sites such as Ashford Castle, Cong Abbey, Ireland's oldest school of falconry and lots of little cafés. My own village of Clonbur is highly regarded for its scenery and local walks/hikes. On Sundays there are traditional music nights in the local pub, Burke's

Town house in the centre of Ballinrobe, with private parking and close to all amenities. This is the ideal location to base yourself if you intend touring in the West of Ireland-from Connemara to Killala, from Ballintubber to Balla. It is also near the Wild Atlantic Way, and the Greenway. You will get a great welcome and you will have free access to the sitting room to relax and to the kitchen should you want to cook. I will suggest scenic routes to take to tour or cultural events happening.
The house is centrally located in the town-just across from Flannery's Tavern. It is surrounded by other take out and sit-in restaurants and shops. Cong, with its famous Abbey and Ashford Castle, is 10k away and is a great spot for lovely wooded walks. Knock Airport is about 70km away.
A quiet area, though located right in this historic town, you will be able to walk all around the town. Ballinrobe is a small town, with loads of sites of interest-the old Workhouse, the Military Barracks, a number of mills, a lovely river walk called The Bowers, many sports grounds and a Leisure Centre. Children usually love the great playground in the Green. Ballinrobe is near the Gaeltacht areas of Tourmakeady and Cornamóna, providing it with a rich cultural flavour.
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Saras! The room is very nice, warm and sparkling clean and the bed is very comfortable! Sara is an exceptional host with great local knowledge! She very kindly let us use the kitchen as well. We totally recommend to stay at hers.

  • Sara is an amazing host and we had the best time with her. In the room and kitchen you can find everything you need. She is very generous and gave us great tips what we could visit or do. We had very nice talks and she even gave us a lift to a gorgeous place not too far from her home. We will miss staying with her and hope to come back.

    Lou2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful space and outstanding location but all of this is capped by a most wonderful host who will put you at your ease right away. Sara is fantastic, very warm. Thoughtful & welcoming. The house is beautifully maintained and spotlessly clean. This was a special stay. I can’t wait to return.

    FeeneyMatt2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Sara is a very welcoming person, her house is perfect, we could cook without problem. Sara had booked us a shelf in her fridge and another in her closet. She did everything to make us feel comfortable on vacation. She even shared with us her birthday cake. Even if she does not speak French and we do not English, we managed to exchange with help google translation and a notebook and pencil. Sara will remain for us the best host we have had in Ireland (out of 5).

  • The location is unbeatable! The house overlooks Lough Corrib, and on the property there is a beautiful trail along the lake shore. I highly recommend staying here, and we will most certainly be back. We stayed with 2 young toddlers, and the space was very family friendly. Rhona was also kind enough to provide a port-a-crib and a high chair for our youngest child. Her guest book dates back to 2002, so she clearly had loads of experience hosting guests. Thanks Rhona!

  • To book with eyes closed, beautiful house, beautifully decorated, spacious, very functional, very clean, very well equipped. Clonbur has a shopping center that is close to the house. Hiking trails nearby. Many sites to see nearby. We collected the keys very easily, and Bridget came to visit us the next day. She is very available, pleasant, smiling. Thank you.

    Nathalie2019-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • An absolutely wonderful place. A fantastic amount of space, huge kitchen and large, comfortable bedrooms. The living areas were very stulish and there was an abundance of information on local attractions for the area. Bridget's larger than life personality was a welcomed greeting for our arrival and she instantly made us feel very welcomed. And definitely check out John Burke's Pub in town... Thomás is a wonderful guy and the food is fantastic.

  • Very clean en spacious house. Great place too Explore galway county!

    Bert2019-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Despite a complicated arrival (no reception on site and unable to reach the host by phone), we had a very pleasant time. The house is in all respects identical to what we had seen on the site, a large house surrounded by greenery with 4 bedrooms while we were 2 couples. Each person could have chosen his room! The house is perfectly equipped, and it is quietly located while being a few minutes walk from the center of the village: so it was very convenient to go to the restaurant and pub, or to make 2-3 purchases! The location was convenient for visiting Connemara, although we could have stayed further west of Ireland.

Everything was clean and tidy for and executed. For our Ireland trip so more than perfect :) You can only recommend it! Our stay in the house of Claire and Aoife was short but beautiful :) The house is in the nature with an amazing view! Really WOW! The house was clean and we had everything we needed for our trip through Ireland. We can fully recommend it to everybody!

  • We absolutely loved our break away. Fabulous view whilst dining outside even when the weather was bad it was still fabulous from the window view. The house is a great size and so clean. The extra touches were unique in the property especially the home cooked tart on our arrival. Aoife went out of her way to get me a number for bike hire for the kids and explain activities we were interested in also. We will hopefully be returning in the coming future. I highly recommend this house for family breaks. Many thanks aoife

You wanna go back to yesteryear, to a place where faeries still linger and spirits whisper an ancient past? Here you will feel the indescribable, intense vibration where time stands still. Let the scenic, magical valley carry you away on the wings of an unforgettable journey. Welcome to forgotten paradise! There's a lot of leisure facilities: - Hill walking - Biking - Lake swimming - Lake fishing Nearest places worth visiting: - Cong - Westport - Killary Fjord - Kylemore Abbey
The charming, more than 200 years old cottage takes you back in Irish traditional times. It bursts of cosiness with a welcoming fireplace along with the time whispering cuckoo clock. The cottage's ancient soul will take you on a magical, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Spending the night, the bedroom will take you to the land of fairy dreams. We provide a quality continental breakfast with bread, granola, cheese, ham... We try to work as much as possible to work with local, honest and organic produce. As we're quite far from villages, if you want we can prepare some dinner - vegan, vegetarian or classic meat and fish - for you every evening to your choice which would come to 15€ pp including beer or a glass of wine. Just let us know in advance whether or not you would like dinner and on which evening. For cycling lovers there's also bikes for rent. You can enquire with me. I also organize cycling tours around magical Cong. For bookings go to Airbnb experiences and look for "New Magical bike tour around Cong". The tours are for up to 10 people.
The place is very remote not to say "At the end of the world". It's perfect for people who love nature, quietness, solitude, peace. It's the unspoilt countryside so most people living here are farmers or holidaymakers. And although it's remote, it's in the centre of many famous places to visit. - The Killary Fjord and Leenane, the only fjord in Ireland, 20k away. - Clifden, Connemara's capital, 55km away. - Kylemore Abbey, 30k away. - The cosy, vibrating town of Westport, 35k away - The famous village of Cong, well-known for its Ashford Castle and for the film "The Quiet Man", 20k away - The breathtaking Valley of Lough Inagh, 35k away. - The Aran Islands, 60k away. - Cliffs of Moher, 130k away. So, a lot to visit as well.
  • The little cottage is very cozy and warm. You feel peace as soon as you get in. Steve and Kim are great hosts and they help you with anything you need. The place is spotless and the views are breath taking! We will give this trip a 10 out of 10!

  • The cottage is wonderful. The interieur and especially the bed were very enjoyable. Steve was a great host and we have had a pleasant stay..

  • Steve went above and beyond to be accommodating to me. Great host!

    Stephen2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely time at Steve's place. The cottage is super cosy, clean and the breakfast was such a nice touch! The cottage is situated in the most beautiful valley and Steve gave us a map and list of places to go see during our stay. There's no signal at all here but that's kind of what we wanted, a break from our phones! Just a little side note that the hosts do go to bed early so you can't make much noise past 9pm :)

    Emma2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • A place full of charm for charming guests, a real cabinet of curiosities with a cozy and warm atmosphere.

    Nina2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Connemara traditional lodging, where you will be beautifully welcomed by Steve and Kim. A king's breakfast and dreamy nights. To advise absolutely.

    Yves2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Steve is a great guy, he welcomed us to his fantastic old cottage with a smile and great conversations about everything and particularly nature. The day after he gave us great tips on what to see and do in one day in Conemara. The location is fantastic and indeed heavenly. I think 5 star is very low for this place. We shall definitely try to come back.

    Sina2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Heaven's Fairytale cottage is the perfect quirky get away, the cottage itself is absolutely beautiful with so many interesting touches set in stunning scenery. Steve was a delightful host who really went out of his way to make us feel comfortable in his lovely home. We would love to return at some point.

Cong is an easygoing, happy place with a friendly community. The home is in the heart of the village of 'The Quiet Man' where castles and churches sit amongst the lush countryside. Walk along the river and head to the coast for breathtaking views. You will fail to find a dull moment in this special village.
  • My stay in Julie’s accommodation was fantastic. It had everything we needed during our stay and even more. Extremely clean and well designed. Julie is a friendly person and communicated very well. Her attention to detail in the apartment was great. Would defiantly want to go back to this accommodation as it was very relaxing to stay in!

    Karen2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Julie is a great host, who made our stay super comfortable. The place is very stylish, cozy and warm (which is especially important in winter) and has everything you need and even more. 200% positive experience.

    Sergey2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely apartment and Julie was a great host. Super location in beautiful Cong. Hope to return in the future

    Gillian2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • This is the nicest Air bnb we have stayed in. Julie is a lovely, gracious host and has created a very special haven for visitors to Cong. The loft is beautifully decorated with many thoughtful touches from bathrobes to slippers, luxurious bed linen and fluffy large towels. We were welcomed with a complimentary bottle of wine and other treats. Truly a five star experience. The location is perfect, don’t miss having a croissant and coffee at Butler & Byrne, and a delicious meal at Lydons. Thank you Julie for a wonderful experience, we hope to be back!

    Tamsin2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • I have only one concern regarding the space; which is the horribly sad possibility that it will be booked the next time I visit the area. I can’t say enough good things about the loft, the hostess and my lovely experience staying there. I consider anyone with a reservation to stay in the loft truly lucky and in for such a treat. Places and hostesses such as these are what make the unfortunate bad actors and homes of Airbnb worth putting up with. I honestly thought I would regret opting out of the glamorous Ashford Castle, but it ended up being one of the best decisions I made during my trip. This is such a true gem of an Airbnb that I would actually plan my next trip’s dates around the availability of the listing. I cannot recommend it highly enough and suggest to anyone and everyone to stay for several days if possible as there are so many places in Mayo, Galway and Connemara one can easily make day trips to.

    Brigid2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • We love Cong and visit at least once a year. This is our first time using AirBnB for our stay here though and we were not disappointed. This is a lovely flat in a fantastic location. We loved staying here and would definitely recommend to others.

    Ben2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had an excellent two night stay. Apartment was easy to find and easy to access. Smack in the middle of Cong, next to the Abbey and Forest. Julie was very accessible through texts and I can absolutely recommend this apartment.

    Abby2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • 5 *** Stunning accommodation in an artisan village. Julie provided absolutely everything you could possibly imagine in a stylish, intimate setting. I’m sure the bedrooms are as well equipped as those in Ashford Castle - gorgeous quality towels / robes & super comfy beds. It was an extra treat to have Netflix and lounge on the couch on wet evenings. All enhanced by soft lighting and an efficient heating system. We stayed for 7 nights and were sad to leave. The apartment is directly situated over a wonderful cafe, stocked with Irish produce and freshly baked breads. Julie recommended Lydon’s pub which serves excellent meals, it’s about 2 mins walk away. Great chat with the local butcher who also provides cooked meals and stocks organic fare including the best carrots ever. CONG is an interesting village which includes an Abbey and fabulous walks for all levels. Although the location is ideal for visiting Kylemore Abbey and other tourist attractions, you might just prefer to hang around the area and chill in this beautiful apartment.

  • The view, the lake, the countryside, the quietness... wonderful place for holidays! Lila was really kind with us: she let us everything for our first breakfast, put the heater on, let us some wood for a fire... good beds, very comfortable duvets, silence: we had really good nights!! Thanks Lila, we will remember for a long time this wonderful view on the lake on early morning...

    Emmanuelle2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • The house is warm and the location completely "amazing" as the English speakers say. It feels soothed and relaxed !!

    Jessica2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous location next to the lighthouse with great views onto the lake. Lila was always available for questions and gave us a warm personal welcome with valuable tips on holiday activities. Ideal for families with adventurous kids, who don't need a city in walking distance.

    Stefan2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • I've traveled all over the world and this was one of the most serene, beautiful places I've ever been. There was Lough Corrib, more like a sea than a lake, just out the front wall-sized window, sometimes ferocious, sometimes calm. Every now and then a small fishing boat passed by. When the wind wasn't high, you could sit in the Adirondack chairs on the front lawn and read or stare at the mountains in the distance. The little lighthouse anchored it all. Inside, the house is simple but comfortable. The wood-burning stove is a nice touch. It's a bit of a drive from anywhere, but that's part of the charm. Lila was always easy to reach. In short, our stay here helped us love Ireland.

    Mary2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • The boat house is in a beautiful, peaceful setting, over looking Lough Corrib and the lighthouse. Perfect for exploring Connemara National Park, Kylemore Gardens, Galway and Cong. It was lovely to meet Lila and I really appreciated the emergency non-feather duvet! The soda bread was delicious and we’re now hooked!

    Zarnie2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the lake and nature! Fire place and fully equipped kitchen with plenty of room for the three of us.

    Jennifer2019-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • The view of the lake is absolutely stunning as well as the lighthouse out the main bedroom window. The house is nice and spacious and the kitchen has everything one needs.

    Shelley2019-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Although Lila wasn't there to meet us, her daughter warmly welcomed us and made sure we were comfortable and settled after a long journey. The house is very clean and has a well equipped kitchen and wonderful stove fire. We were lucky to stay in this beautiful, peaceful house. This was one of our favourite Airbnb experiences!

  • As I followed my GPS instructions through the countryside I wondered "Why did I book a place wayout here?" Then I arrived. Wonderful location. Amazing re-built 18th century manor house. And then a wonderful host in Gabrielle who went above and beyond to look after me. Continental breakfast was as extensive as possible.

  • Stephen is a great host and the house is amazing. It is very nice and warm that was really important because we have kids. The location is wonderful, we had great views from the windows and sun room

  • A gem of a house only a 2 minute walk to the centre of the village

    Quentin2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is a well kept cottage with a classic vintage feel. It was homey and comfortable with all the peace and quiet we were looking for in the country with the added bonus of sheep just out the back pasture. An excellent value and we’ve already considered it for our next visit; making the cottage our central home base for the area. We were met by our hosts who already had a fire lit, warming the place up with our arrival on an Irish blustery day. They provided many tips about the area, especially about Cong, which we found an unexpected surprise. We loved it.

    Donna2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Address and housing according to information. Very good address just outside the village All amenities nearby Very clean accommodation ++++++++++

    Denis2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Perfectly located to explore the Connemara National Park and the beautiful walks around Cong. We loved the view from the kitchen, meals in the sunroom, watching the neighboring sheep, and above all the coziness of this lovely home. One of our best stays during our 2 weeks in Ireland!

    Marisa2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • The place is absolutely gorgeous, with the most stunning lake and field views. Helena and Jimmy are truly super hosts and gave us a very warm welcome. Their place was fully stocked with wonderful amenities and we especially loved the added touch of endless brochures and pamphlets with recommendations for places to visit close by. The property was sparkling clean and very conveniently located from the Centra and local restaurants close by. They also had plenty of games in the house of which we enjoyed the scrabble and puzzles :) Finally, the sun room had to be the most special corner where we spent most of our time lounging and enjoying the view. We would highly recommend a stay here if visiting this side of the country.

    Ashma2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a perfect stay here. The weather was gorgeous, and we had a beautiful view of the pastures, hills and lake in the distance. The house is very quiet and comfortable. We stayed four nights and cooked at home as well as took advantage of 2 excellent restaurants in Clonbur, just a short walk away. We highly recommend this house.

    Amy2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy little house, beautiful views, everything you need for a comfortable stay. Enjoyed dinners in the sunroom and breakfasts at the kitchen table. Truly "sparkling clean". Helena is a wonderful host.

  • We had a really great stay in this beautiful apartment. Cong is a lovely village with lively bars and good food. We got lots of great local tips and had everything we needed in the apartment itself. I highly recommend Robert & Susan’s place.

  • Such a perfect nook in beautiful Cong. A super location and this Mews is a cosy, stylish haven right in the village.

  • The accommodation is spotlessly clean, very warm and welcome and in the heart of Cong which is s lovely village. Although I booked at the last minute Susan communicated immediately and meeting up for check in went very smoothly. Would highly recommend and will stay again when in the vicinity.

  • Clean and comfortable accommodation in the middle of the vilage and close to shops and restaurants. Local taxi service was very useful in getting us to/from our function at The Lodge, Ashford castle.

    Breda2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • The location was great! Was extremely clean, comfortable and cozy. Upon check in Susan walked us through everything and provided tips for eating and attractions. Such a nice touch of having a snack for the evening and eggs, milk and bread to get us started in the morning. Robert gave us a route to one of our destinations that was absolutely wonderful. He also told us about a few places that were not on our ‘list’ but so glad we took his advice and went. Highly recommend staying here!

  • Convenient little hostel. Only stayed here one night and ended up getting the room to myself since it was off season. I didn’t realize that they had a bnb also across the road, which I definitely would’ve rather stayed in (I love bnbs). Gerry and Margaret were really kind and welcoming. I didn’t realize I had breakfast included until the next morning when I went to check out, so it was a nice surprise.

  • We lived staying in this little house! Perfect for just my husband and myself. We walked out to the lighthouse at night and were really lucky to have a clear night and got to see a bunch of stars! Hello Milky Way!! In the morning we explored the Ballycurrin Castle and walked the little loop they made by the lake! So fun!

  • This is a 17th century cottage that is off the beaten path. Just perfect for us! Small, cozy sitting room with fireplace and a spiral staircase to the upstairs bedroom and bathroom. There’s an ancient lighthouse to explore nearby and a castle ruin on the property that are both excellent for pictures! Gabrielle gave a great suggestion for dinner at the Anglers Rest. Just absolutely beautiful setting! Thanks for hosting us.

The cottage is an old farm house nestled in a secluded area loaded with character and charm. It has an open fireplace and is decorated in a French romantic way. All is there to grant you an unforgettable magical stay. There's also Lake access and there's boats available for fishing to hire with or without a guide. All information is in the cottage. For cycling lovers there's also bikes for rent. You can enquire with me. I also organize cycling tours around magical Cong. • This is the perfect place for getting away from it all. The location is so beautiful, I was there in the depths of a storm and it was still outstanding. If you are a hiker, you will be spoiled for choice, but even if you fancy a stroll down the tiny country roads you are in luck. The cottage has everything you need - and also gives your brain a break from WIFI, and everything that happens with constant connectivity - but if you urgently need to contact someone, stroll up the road a bit and plug back in! An open fireplace really made the evenings cosy. I'm looking forward to coming back this way later in the Spring!

  • Perfect stay in the middle of the mountains. Stunning view from the garden, and the small house is super cosy. The road to get there is quite narrow and bumpy, which can be surprising at first, but the place is worth it!

Internet is spotty as is cell service, one trade off of the rural setting. Amazed to wake up to cows & sheep out our bedroom window! Be sure to bring coffee, tea, sugar, shampoo, soap and euro coins (for the electric meter). None were provided. Central location for all sights on the wild Atlantic West!

  • This was an unexpected gem during our vacation! We wanted to stay in a smaller town for our last night on the road, and we chose Clonbur for it's location without seeing the room. We thought we might be tucked in a spare bedroom, which was fine. As it turns out, the room was a full private bedsit, complete with couch, private bathroom, mini-kitchen and tv! We had tons of space and all of it was private to us. Noel was kind enough to leave maps and flyers for cool local walks and sights, and when he couldn't make it to let us, he called a friend to let us in for him. The town was positively lovely, with a pub and two great restaurants, plus great walks along the quieter side of the the Irish countryside. If you're looking for a nice, quiet, peaceful and private night, stay here, we LOVED it!

  • Nuala is a great host! For the few hours we stayed in her house (ahaha), it was very comfortable and clean. She prepared the breakfast for us and some homemade scones, very delicious by the way! We absolutely recommend.

  • I recommend this place to ANYONE WHO IS STAYING near Galway.!! Innitially my boyfriend and I were going to just pass by Galway and go straight to Northern Ireland but our hotel there LAST MINUTE said that we could not check in late! (with super rude manners may I add) We were basically without a place to stay in the freezing cold and driving around in thick fog! Thank gosh for Nuala and her beautiful home near the city! The place was cozy, clean and super accommidating. Thank you for much Nuala for saving our butts and answering on such late notice on a late winter night! She was so quick to respond and the check in process was so easy. Again, I reccomend this place to anyone who is passing by Galway and wants to experience a true AirBNB superhost. Truly lives up to it. <3 Love Viv & Ken

  • A really brilliant place - it's hard to overstate how much we loved it here. The cottage is tucked away in the hillside with an amazing view of the local hills and loughs, with immediate access to walks over the local area, and is ideally suited for driving out to the *absolutely beautiful* Connemara region. William is a brilliant host - friendly and easygoing, with a clear love for the area, and lots of tips for places to visit and events in the region. We felt very welcomed, and immediately at home. The cottage manages to be rustic as well as providing a good level of modern comfort - the kitchen is fully equipped and the heating works well. Great for cosying up on a windy night! The local towns of Clonbur and Cong are both beautiful, with access to easy walks, good amenities as well as nice pubs and cafes, all run by friendly and helpful people - everyone we bumped into was more than happy to strike up a conversation about our trip, the local area, and whatever else came to mind. We felt warmly welcomed wherever we went. We'd recommend a stay here in a heartbeat, and we can't wait to come back!

  • My parents had a wonderful time in the cottage. The place is situated in a beautiful location and the cottage has a very special character and has everything you might need.

  • Our stay in Finny was very cozy. We walked around the area to enjoy the views and nature and said hello to the sheep. William was very kind and helpful. Cottage was warm, everything worked fine, and John Burke's restaurant (recommended by William) in Clonbur had excellent food.

  • What you see in the photos is exactly what you get, and then some. The cottage is so incredibly cozy, and the surrounding area is stunning. If you're looking for a cozy retreat to get away from it all, book now.

  • William is an excellent host, he welcomed us and gave us ideas of what to do around the cottage. His property is beautiful, everything you need to have a relaxed time. Views are indescribable, mountains and lake around the house. I highly recommend this house, you won’t be disappointed. Very warm and cozy.

  • Our stay at William’s cottage was even better than expected. The perfect getaway in Connemara to relax and take advantage of the surrounding nature. The fireplace is especially lovely, and the place is even cozier than in the photos. Highly recommend to any travelers - William was a very attentive and kind host.

  • This place is a gem!!!

    Fintan2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Mount Gable Cottage is a Nancy Meyers movie home on the shores of Lough Corrib. The views that greet you every morning are straight out of a Fáilte Ireland ad. The location, remote enough to feel out-of-this-world, but close enough to Cong and Clonbur to feel well stocked, is ideal for couples or families looking to get away from the city. Mount Gable Cottage time runs slower than GMT - the days feel longer, the sleeps even more relaxing, and the meandering evenings are perfect. For those travellers who want to hike, there's a wonderful trail several metres from the front gates, and further trails a short drive away. Philip was a dream host - gave us the full run-down when we checked-in and was always ready to answer a question in a split second via phone. The kitchen, living areas, bathrooms and bedrooms are perfectly appointed and a dream. We definitely hope to return!

  • Mount Gable Cottage was a beautiful place to spend Christmas. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed the outstanding view and the quiet, tranquil location of the cottage. We hope to be able to visit the cottage again in the not too distant future. Thanks to Philip for the warm welcome and being incredibly helpful during our stay.

  • Thank you for such a wonderful few days. After a disastrous cancellation by a previous host Of another property I booked Mount Gable out of panic and desperation for myself, husband and 3 kids. It clearly was meant to be as it was unbelievably beautiful. The location is remote but the view is out of this world. The house itself is finished to a very high standard and is pristine. We wanted for nothing, everything is supplied even down to a picnic basket. We are booking again! Thanks so much Philip and to Catherine for allowing us to share her gem in a very special part of the world. A million thank yous!

  • What a magical house! We stayed there with our family of five for a month and it was perfect for us. Our children loved the giant backyard, sunny living room/ toy room, sheep roaming around, and the neighbor's dog that loved to come by and play. The rooms were all beautifully decorated in a charming sort of fashion, the beds were nice and comfy, and everything was left perfectly clean for us. The host Dominick went out of his way to see to it that all of our needs were met, stocking up on age-appropriate games, answering all our questions re public transport and stuff to do with kids, and stocking the kitchen with an array of lovely teas and coffees for our arrival. When we forgot to take the garbage out on the given day, he came right over to help. He even arranged to have a cleaner come by in the middle of our stay to go over the house and change the linens. Big thumbs up, we highly recommend staying here.
