Cosy annexe flat with large lounge/diner, kitchenette and double ensuite bedroom. Situated in a pretty village with a great pub and easy access to both the Solway coast and the fells of the Lake District. Keswick and Cockermouth are within easy reach
“My girlfriend & I spent 3 nights at Pat's place in early February and it was the ideal base for our short walking break. The flat is located in a small village with car parking right outside on a quiet road. It's only a 15 minute drive from Sainsbury's supermarket in Cockermouth, and about 20 minutes from Keswick. Despite getting battered by wet & windy weather on our last night, the flat was really warm & cosy and had everything we needed for a comfortable, quiet stay. The kitchen is well appointed and we were able to prepare our own meals with no trouble. Pat is a really friendly & helpful host, and we would highly recommend a stay here—we'll definitely be back again. Thanks a lot!”
Visit England GOLD award. Featured in Cumbria Life Magazine. Welcome to The Groom’s Cottage, a cosy and luxurious retreat for two. Here you will find the perfect place to relax & enjoy all that the Lake District has to offer. Set in the courtyard of The Coach House, the cottage would originally have been home to the Groomsman who was in charge of the Rectory stables. Now it offers a charming mix of modern day living and traditional character with its own unique furnishings and personal touches.
“Visited during the COVID outbreak so lockdown measures in place (we drove up just as this was happening and were socially responsible about it), and as such can't comment on any local attractions. Nonetheless it was a perfect stay - sunning ourselves in the garden with the sounds of the local birds and cows next door was our favourite. The cottage is so well stocked with everything you could need (local photography books, Smart TV, coffee/tea/sugar/oil/S&P, honesty larder with sweets and lotions...) to enjoy staying inside. The neighbours are very nearby and perhaps not the most welcoming, however Debs & Paul more than made up for this and made our 16 year anniversary as special as it could be. Don't forget to stargaze at night... the sky is breathtaking!”
Our beautiful camping pod sleeps 2 adults comfortably but could sleep 3 adults or 2 plus 2 young children. Based on our working farm with panoramic views of local fells and Skiddaw. Birdwatching tarn and Hide opposite. electric points and lights
“Decent little space for a night or two away with fresh shower and toilet facilities. Really nice. Wigwam is super basic which if you're a minimalist like me you will love, just an empty space with build-your-own mattress futons. Super cool. Little heater provided warms the space up nicely. There's a kettle so bring some mugs and teabags if you want a cup, and enjoy the nice open space! Oh also the laundry room has no soap so bring your own (maybe you can buy some at the farm shop I didn't have time to check that).”
