Raise Lodge is a lovely Georgian farmhouse situated on a working sheep farm that also specialises in training working sheepdogs. It is located just outside Wigton, on the edge of the Lake District National Park. We are also only 20 minutes from the Scottish border and the city of Carlisle. The farmhouse an ideal base for those wanting to explore the many outdoor attractions in the area. We are close to the Solway coast, the Lake District and Scotland.
“Once we'd found the correct entrance to use, we absolutely loved our stay here: very, very peaceful, and warm and cosy. We were in Cumbria for a big family get-together nearby, so used Ludivine's place to only sleep and have breakfast (tea, coffee, sugar and milk were provided, but we take our own anyway). Lovely to have hooks in the bathroom for towels, etc. (so often annoyingly missing in places we stay). The co-host, Helen, has her paintings on display on the walls: she is such a talented artist. David fell in love with one of the paintings in the kitchen, and wanted to buy it but thought it would be too expensive. However, and I can say this as he doesn't read reviews I write, it was actually a print so Helen and I managed to sneak it to the car whilst his back was turned: it will be a great birthday present in January! Will be happy to return if we can't stay with family again...”
My place is close to the Solway Firth on the outskirts of Annan. You’ll love it because of the the gorgeous view over to the Lake District, the serenity of the area, and the bird watching opportunities. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers. Car parking space is available in the yard in front of the cabin. Table and chairs for sitting in the garden are supplied. The modern kitchen is fully equipped with fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave and oven/grill.
“We have just returned from an overnight stay at the Seaside Cabin, and all I can say is, it's simply beautiful! . From the moment you walk in you are surrounded with the most idyllic views . The Cabin is very spacious , modern and spotless and everything you would need is at hand. We enjoyed our continental breakfast provided by our very friendly and approachable hostess Ilse . I just wish we could have stayed longer; however, will definitely return again to fully explore the area and enjoy this peaceful haven once again.”
The Shed has been custom built, in the paddock, near my small barn conversion. It has a homely atmosphere, with vintage furnishings and up-cycled items. Where possible I’ve tried to be eco friendly. This is a quiet, tranquil place with beautiful views of the Scottish hills beyond the Solway Firth. It’s part of a small hamlet and my former family farm. Animals are often kept in the fields next to The Shed. You’ll experience stunning sunsets and starry skies.
“Exceeded expectations: The pictures don’t do it justice. It’s small and compact as advertised. However, everything has been considered in regards to making you feel completely at home. I could wax lyrical about how the ‘shed’ has been thoughtfully designed and furnished to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Look no further, it has everything you need..... and more. Attention to detail was second to none. We were met on arrival and left to our own devices, which we prefer. However, we were also made to feel we could approach about anything should we need to do so. We look forward to returning in the summer months and making use of the outdoor space in the warmer weather.”
