  • We had an amazing stay at Laura’s cottage, we literally felt like home ! Everything was perfect and we hope to come back very soon !

    Anca2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Delightful cottage in a rural and relaxing location. The cosy cottage is very well equipped, Laura has thought of everything. The spotless hot tub was fantastic and had phenomenal views over the Speyside countryside.

    Duncan2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Laura’s cottage was a lovely home away from home. The little extras that were provided (homemade bread, bottle of Prosecco, and beers) were a fantastic surprise and made our stay that much more special. We absolutely adored sitting by the wood fire stove and enjoying the hot tub each night. The cottage was clean and cozy and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

    Meagan2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic, peacefull and romantic place. Great hospitality!

    Evka2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We went to stay at Laura’s gorgeous romantic little cottage for a second time - so homely with all the amenities and extras we could want. The hot tub is amazing with great views and plenty of good walks nearby. We’ve been discussing a third visit already!

    Susannah2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I booked this property for a cosy weekend away and we were delighted with our time there. The hospitality on arrival was brilliant, from the prosecco, to the fresh bread and all the local tips. The facilities were great and the location and hot tub are exactly what we were looking for. We both couldn't recommend this enough and would definitely coming back in the future!

    Stephen2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Superb accommodation, host, amenities etc etc, couldn’t ask for more! We couldn’t believe all the little extras, it really made our stay extra special. We have a 10 month old baby and Laura provided everything we could possibly need. It made life that little bit more stress free! The highlight of the trip was the hot tub though, incredible. Despite the minus temperatures and howling winds outside, the covered hot tub was just glorious after a days adventuring in the beautiful surroundings. First class. Thank you Laura!

    Nyall2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really lovely relaxing few days at this little gem of a cottage. So cozy and lots of added thoughtful surprises! The bed was so comfy and we loved the hot tub. Thanks so much Laura!

Award-winning Hobbit Hideaway is a unique & beautiful space designed to invoke inner peace & tranquillity. It was handcrafted with love to provide a real sense of warmth & nourishment, a welcome escape from the pressures of daily life. It has been described as being like a giant hug, a place that once you enter, you can't help but smile! We provide a welcome treat, fire-wood, cruelty-free soaps, cooking basics & a variety of fairtrade beverages.
Hobbit Hideaway is sadly closing its doors to visitors for as long as instructed, and following guidance issued today by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon at a media briefing: “To our hotels, B&Bs and self-catering accommodation – you should not be accepting visitors. Provide accommodation for your staff and make yourselves available to help essential workers and support essential services – that is all. "Scotland is a warm and welcoming country and I fervently hope it’s not too long before we are opening our arms and our countryside to visitors again – but right now our priority must be to protect people from this virus, protect our NHS and protect Scotland.” If you've ever wanted to experience living in an exquisite natural home, this is your chance. Hobbit Hideaway is a truly natural home built using locally sourced, plentiful, renewable and recycled materials including straw-bales, round-wood, stone, earth, and clay. It is furnished with a high percentage of pre-loved, re-purpose and recycled treasures. Our visitors can enjoy a low impact holiday, take reusable cups, bottles & bags on days-out, make use of our compost bins & recycling facilities, use ethically purchased, cruelty-free soaps, drink fresh Scottish spring water (as used in Speyside whisky production!) and pick their own fresh herbs, fruit and vegetables, when in season. We pride ourselves on being inclusive and accessible. If you have any special requirements we will do our best to accommodate them. Our electricity is sourced from 100% renewable energy and we provide a JVC bluetooth speaker for your music and free wifi. If you want a technology-free break, simply switch it off or ask us to remove it. Hobbit Hideaway is ideal for four people but it's deceptively spacious, so we provided two additional sleeping spaces so large families or small groups can holiday in style. Taking a low impact, stress-free break has never been easier!
Hobbit Hideaway is nestled into a peaceful valley at the foot of the spectacular Ben Rinnes in Moray, Speyside. There is a multitude of things to see and do nearby, ranging from gentle walks, adventure & wildlife parks to water & snow sports! You can play, walk, run, climb, cycle, surf, sail or simply relax and enjoy the spectacular scenery, rugged coastline, and abundance of wild-life. There really is an experience to be had for almost everyone, including our world-famous Speyside whisky trails, festivals and so much more!
  • A wonderful place to relax from everyday stress. The Hobbit Hideaway is furnished with so much attention to detail that you always discover new things. It is a dreamlike piece of earth with so much peace and comfort. Kim is a great host and even baked bread for us. We felt very comfortable and will be back.

    Sandra2020-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place to stay, Kim has thought of everything and is an incredibly thoughtful host! We really enjoyed our stay, and can't wait to return. The Fairy Glen is also a great wee walk and has had a lot of thought put into it. Perfect place to go for peace and quiet and if you're lucky enough to get a clear night stargazing is a must.

    Amie2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • The hobbit hideaway is a wonderful place to say, the house is truly unique. We stayed for a few days with our dog Juno Kim made us all super welcome. Juno was free to run around and there are wonderful local walks to go on. There are so many magical touches to this house and garden you just keep noticing more and more special little touches. It’s really comfortable, and everything you need is catered for I would throughly recommend it and would love to say here again sometime.

    Kate2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great place in a beautiful spot!

    Campbell2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The hobbit hole is the most wonderful place to stay. The attention to detail is incredible and you can feel the love that has gone into creating the space. It is such a relaxing place to be and everything has been thought of so you have all you need. My daughter loved it and we were all sad that we weren’t staying longer. We can’t recommend it highly enough!

    Tamsyn2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is an incredible venue that is suitable for all kinds of different people. Whilst it’s all about basking in natural properties and economical living, it is very luxurious. The cleanliness throughout makes it extra inviting. It is deceptively bigger than expected, you can even take yourself away for peace and quiet whilst others chat if you like. The lighting is perfect for a cosy ambience by the fire. Every bit of space is perfectly thought out. There are so many thoughtful touches, we brought games, books and food with us and we really didn’t need to as Kim considers all ages and pets! The beds are super comfy, there is everything you need here. The views are outstanding and it is very peaceful. We are just sad we couldn’t stay longer as there is so much to explore. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway to spend quality time together this is your ideal place and you could easily spend a week in the hobbit hideaway and surrounding gardens with plenty to keep you entertained and happy. We would highly recommend this place!

    Amy2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a beautiful and unique property that has clearly been built with so much love. We stayed in the midst of a February storm and were a bit worried we'd be cold, I must admit. But the Hobbit Hideaway is as cosy as can be. Highly recommended 😊

    Louise2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place lives up to any expectat ions you may have. The area is beutiful with much to see and do. The hosts are quick to respond and very considerate. Even though it is out of the way we would come to visit again.

  • If you are looking for a genuine experience of Scottish country life, Janet and Rob's place is a quaint, cozy, safe place to have it. The studio is tucked back on their farm - quiet, surrounded by animals, and a beautiful place to rest, walk and get to numerous surrounding destinations. The clever little kitchen is enough to cook simple meals, with a sitting room heated by a wood burning stove. The bedroom is lovely and very comfortable - and in the deep winter, the radiator heating in it is a big plus. Rob and Janet are very friendly and accommodating. Their Aussie dog is a love (particularly if you like throwing sticks infinitum) and their brood of chickens impressively plumed and also happy. In my book, it is always a good sign when the animals are happy. I highly recommend this place.

  • Mansfield Cottage was excellent for our one-night stay, a base from which to explore parts of the Whisky Trail. Everything was just as described, comfortable and exceptionally clean. All communication with Gill has been really welcoming since our first enquiry, wth great directions and the welcome offer of earlier check-in. I just wish our stay was longer! I highly recommend to those visiting the area for the Whisky Trail or a family holiday.

Hi, this is a super little self contained 2 bedroom cottage. it is within my private garden which is 6 Acres total, and includes a courtyard knot garden and a full-size maze. The Garden only opens once a year - (but not this year we are having a rest.) Please be aware to access the cottage you must use a 20m lose stone path therefore it is not suitable for disabled access and is a bit tricky if you have a heavy suitcase and rely on the wheels.
The cottage is set in a 6 acre acclaimed garden. it has 2 good sized bedrooms with standard double beds. A separate bathroom which has bath/shower. The living room is also a dining room and the cottage kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances and has a small rayburn which is used for most cooking and for heating the hot water. There is also wi fi available at the cottage along with digital freeview wall mounted tv
There isn't a neighbourhood, the property is set in the countryside. Our nearest village is a 5 minute drive away from the property - Cullen - which has 2 wee shops for food, antique shops galore. 3 takeaways (Indian, Chinese and fish and chips) cafes and 2 wonderful beaches
  • Second stay here and great value

Our home is in the picturesque and quiet village of Garmouth and is surrounded by farmland. It is an old quirky three bedroomed house & a granny annex (where my mum lives). We are close to the Speyside Way, the Moray Coast Trail, the Dolphin Centre, the river Spey, the Garmouth & Kingston Golf Club and the Kingston beach. Fochabers is 10 mins away by car, Elgin 15 mins away by car and Inverness is about an hour away by car. Please be aware that Public transport is very limited to Garmouth.
This double bedroom is light and sunny with a view of the front garden where there is plenty of room for parking and a large garden to relax in. The room has a TV with freeview/DVD and a selection of DVDs. Well behaved dogs are welcome as we have a daft Springer spaniel who is very excitable and very friendly. If you have more than 1 dogs please check with me first, thanks. Please bring your own dog bedding as I don't have any extra dog beds or crates.
In the village we have a dog friendly cafe at the Garmouth Hotel which opens from 11am (10am on sundays) to 4pm serving food and drinks (closed Monday) and the hotel also serves meals from (Fri - Sun). 5.30 to 7.30. There is a Chinese takeaway at the service station 4 miles away in Mosstodloch. The service station also has a small shop and a beauty salon. Fochabers is 10 mins away by car and has a chip shop, various cafes, hotels, a butchers, a pizzeria, an ice cream parlour, a garden centre and a co-op.

This immaculate 1 bedroomed bungalow offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere and is situated in the small coastal town of Portknockie. A quiet friendly community where everyone is made to feel welcome. This bungalow is perfect for a cosy couples weekend away from the city life. If you enjoy golf, Moray has great courses to offer you, you could also dabble in some whisky tasting along the Speyside whisky trail, and if wildlife is more your style then the dolphin centre isn't far away.
Tea and coffee are provided, along with a fresh pint of milk for that all important cup of tea on arrival. We keep our own chickens so you will have a fresh egg for your breakfast! There are biscuits in the tin so please feel free to help yourself. There is a washing machine, microwave, gas hob and electric oven. There is also an iron and board, clothes airer, and hairdryer, and a travel cot and high chair can be provided on request (. Please let us know if soya or almond milk would be more preferable for you)
Portknockie is quiet but has 2 pubs, a small, well stocked shop, and a chemist, as well as a popular chip shop, all within walking distance. The wee town of Cullen is nearby, famous for its Viaduct and home of Cullen skink soup, a tasty blend of onions, milk, potatoes and smoked haddock. It also has some lovely cafes and antique shops.
  • Jackie’s place is a great little find. Located a few minutes from the sea in a quiet area, it had everything I needed. There was even milk and a few other treats waiting for me in the fridge. Thanks again Jackie.

  • We had a great stay in Portknockie thanks to Jaq. The property was absolutely spotless, cosy and modern with all of the amenities you could ask for (but you won't need to ask because Jaq is such a super host!). We had some lovely free range eggs from her own hens, soya milk in the fridge and Jaq popped in with some amazing homemade brownies as well! We were made to feel very welcome and comfortable our stay. 100% would recommend!

  • Jacqueline, who is a very available person, gave us the keys by hand, and gave us all the necessary information. The accommodation is perfectly equipped and very cozy. It is also perfectly located, within walking distance of the center of the town and Bow Fiddle Rock I recommend without hesitation

  • Comfortable, stylish accommodation, and many details. Of the best accommodations we have been to. Jacqueline is very attentive and close, with a sweet welcome surprise.

  • Such a lovely, warm and cosy home. As soon as we walked through the door we were greeted by Jackie, such a lovely woman who baked us a batch of chocolate brownies and even made us homemade lemon curd! Both were absolutely amazing. Thanks so much Jackie. Portknockie is lovely too. So small and quiet and the surrounding coastline is incredible. Just five mins walk down to Bow Fiddle Rock.

  • Jaqueline is an absolutely amazing host! There is no one like her. She is extremely kind, helpful and considerate. I do not believe there is a better place to visit than her cottage in Portknockie. Don't even think about different offers because you're not going to find anything better :))) You are literally 3 minutes walk from the sea and you can even see it from the living room and the bedroom. The views and cliffs there are astonishing and this is an amazing place to visit, gain some peace and rest!

A charming stone, fisherman's cottage situated close to Buckie, on the Moray Firth coast. 'Sonas' would be ideal for a family group or group of friends who will appreciate its facilities and location. This cosy, welcoming cottage is presented to a high standard with great care and attention to detail. Quietly situated away from the main coastal road up a little side street, Portessie is one of a number of old fishing villages that lie on a three-mile stretch of shoreline to the east of Buckie.
Both bedrooms are on the upper floor, one a double and one with both a double and single bed. An adjoining building not only provides the laundry facilities but also stores the outside furniture and on pleasant days guests can sit outside and enjoy a morning coffee whilst planning the day’s events.
The busy town of Buckie is just next door and has its own harbour and marina along with excellent shopping and dining out venues. There are a multitude of golf courses along this coastline and for walkers this is paradise with the Moray coastal trail stretching for approximately 50 miles from Findhorn to Cullen and all the places in between. Why not take a boat from Buckie and venture onto the waters of the Moray Firth and look out for the famous Moray Firth dolphins, various species of whale and a wide range of sea birds? Sometimes the dolphins are regularly seen showing off around the boat so you may be lucky! There is so much to do and if you leave the coast and venture in land you could pick up the famous Malt Whisky Trail and partake in a spot of tasting from the various distilleries along the route. A lovely part of the world and this really sweet little cottage will be just perfect.
  • A home away from home.

  • Stayed here as we had an 80 th birthday celebration in Findochty which was within walking distance by road or coastal route. The cottage is tastefully decorated with a coastal theme. Warm and welcoming. Made even mo re cosy by the log burner. Everything you need for our stay. Lynda even checked that we were ok. Truly wonderful place to stay and excellent value for money.

  • Excellent house a lovely space. Very clean and a warm welcome from host

  • Lynda’s place ‘Sonas’ is aptly named. It is a peaceful retreat in a beautiful part of the Moray coast. It has a cosy homely feel that is perfect for cosying up after a day of exploring one of Scotland’s most historic and authentic areas. We would recommend anyone, who wants to have their ‘peace’ of Scottish heaven to visit.

    Derek2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our permanence in Lynda's house. The place was cozy and very clean, near to the seaside and close to many beautiful places to visit, we really recommend it for a visit in Scotland!

  • Truly enjoyed my stay at Solas. Its a lovely place to come home to after a day of exploring the coast. Was always nice and warm with a great shower to heat you up after walking in blustery winds. The decor made you feel relaxed and calm with a range of lighting to suit different moods. Lynda was a great host, communication was first class. House has everything you need just to come in and sit down and relax. I'll be back for sure.

    Lynsey2019-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Lynda is a great host. She was very attentive and gave us all the information we needed to find the place easily. The cottage is lovely and in a really good location, in front of the beach. I would love to stay there again when we visit the area. Thanks, Lynda.

    Clara2019-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay here at Sonas, booked as a bit of a last minute getaway for New Year. Lynda was an excellent host, including popping along on our arrival to make sure we got into the cottage successfully, which we did - everything was as described! The cottage is fabulous, very comfortable, clean and well set up. The beds were really comfy, and there is lots of storage room on the landing. The kitchen has everything you need, and the dining area is a great space to eat together. The lounge is cosy and Lynda provided enough for our first log fire was was an added bonus. One of the best things about this place is the location, it is literally across the road from the sea and set amongst other fisherman's cottages near the Harbour. Lots to see and do - we would love come back sometime. Thanks again Lynda, we are happy to have had another successful Airbnb trip!

  • Our stay at Pauline’s place was lovely. There was great communication beforehand which made the lead up to our trip and our arrival very easy. As we were travelling with our 19month old we had asked if there was a cot and Pauline had provided a cot with sheets and covers, a high chair and even some toys. Everything was there to cook ourselves a nice meal, the place was sparkling clean and the bed was very comfy. Would def recommend and hoping to be back sometime.

  • We have just spent 3 super nights in Paulines lovely comfortable cottage, it has all and more than we expected, very clean with a huge comfortable bed and lots of little extras which was very much appreciated. We both really enjoyed our stay in Portessie easy walking distance into Buckie where we enjoyed an Indian meal last night and Fish and chips on the Friday night. Great walks around coast Cullen to FinlaterCastle ,Spey Bay circular walk and the Bin of Cullen. We had a great time thank you 😊

  • Wonderful cottage in an idyllic location, with sea views. Beautifully presented with all you could need and more. Elaine is a lovely host and could not have been more helpful. Thank you Elaine!

    Anne2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • The contact with Elaine went very smoothly. She contacted us just after the reservation via Whatsapp to confirm everything was in order and to inform us of her contactinformation. On the day of arrival we were running a bit late but this was not a problem at all. Upon arrival the fireplace was lit (very cozy) and the refridgerator was already packing some food and drinks, we did not expect this! After some introductions we were shown and walkedthrough the rest of the modern and fully equipped cottage. We had a wonderful time at the cosy cottage. The fireplace, the location (just across the beach), the hiking routes (there is a lot of nature nearby) and the friendly owner just tied it all together. Would definitely recommend!

  • Outstanding cottage!!! Elaine was great to correspond with, extremely quick at responding & meet us at the cottage to welcome us, showing us around and quickly showing us how to use all the facilities, which was brilliant. Elaine had added some really lovely personal touches to the cottage for us which was extremely thoughtful, we’re very appreciative. The cottage is absolutely stunning. It was very homely. We stayed over the New Year period and it was absolutely fantastic. We took our dogs with us and like to get away at new year as one of them struggles with fireworks. We didn’t hear a single one where the cottage was located so it was absolutely fantastic. The pictures for this cottage simply do not do it enough justice for how beautiful it is. The fire is gorgeous lit at night! Elaine has everything you’d possibly need.... Utensils, washing machine, dishwasher, large fridge/freezer, bath, shower, hot water bottle, coffee machine, egg poacher... the list keeps going.... it seriously has EVERYTHING!!! Lots of towels/dish towels, toilet paper, kitchen roll! The garden is absolutely MASSIVE!!! Our dogs loved running around outside, completely secure and back door left open for them to come in and out. WiFi was brilliant, no connection issues at all. All furniture extremely comfy. Dining table was a brilliant size. I could go on and on!! We will be back to the cottage for sure, would be beautiful in the summer using the bbq.... 1 thing I must mention is the phenomenal WINE CHILLER! Amazing!!! Thanks Elaine for your amazing service, can’t wait to get another trip booked!!!

  • The reviews say it all. A lovely modernised property with all facilities and fully equipped. A fantastic hostess who takes a huge amount of trouble so that everything is perfect . For our Christmas stay the property was beautifully decorated and as others before we were really grateful for the starter pack of food and goodies after a long Sunday drive up from the south. We brought our basset who loved the huge enclosed garden and the hot stove and walks. There is loads to see and as well as some local walks we managed Inverness and Aberdeen..each about 1.5 hours away. Cant recommend highly enough.

    Malcolm2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • A well appointed and comfortable cottage. Elaine has put a lot of thought into ensuring that guests have everything they need with lovely touches such as the fresh flowers and provisions in the fridge. We honestly couldn’t find fault with anything and were very appreciative of Elaine’s quick responses and flexibility to accommodate us at short notice. Would definitely recommend and have no hesitation in booking again in the future.

A lovely cosy quiet house, great for families or couples, enjoy visiting the lovely places along the coast, beautiful beaches and Harbours nearby, cycle tracks and great places to walk & explore.
Enjoy the use of the entire house, I am close by should you need to contact me, sorry but no dogs allowed due to allergies.
Buckie is a lovely seaside town, lots of lovely beaches close by, the dolphins can be spotted out in the bay. If you are into cycling try out the Moray Monster Trails, fantastic single-track mountain bike routes for beginners through to experts. It’s also a good base for visiting the whiskey distilleries & castles nearby. The Speyside Way runs from Buckie, heading south-westwards to Aviemore on the edge of the Cairngorm Mountains, a distance of approximately 65 miles. There is also a 15-mile spur to Tomintoul.
  • Fantastic place in a great central location. Had a great stay whilst a couple of us were working in the local area. Very homely with great amenities. Lovely touches with fresh bread, Milk, juice etc on arrival. Great communication and ease of access. Will stay again for sure.

  • A lovely place, that feels very homely and comfortable. Linda’s house is full of thoughtful little touches and really well stocked with everything you could need. A good supermarket is just round the corner and the location is a good base to visit Elgin Cathedral or Cairngorms National Park. The whisky trail is also not far away. We had a lovely time, would recommend this place to anyone!

  • An exceptionally well stocked accomodation....all our needs catered for and so cosy, comfortable and spotlessly clean! Linda our host was so helpful and accessible and would highly recommend her home as a central base for exploring the beautiful Aberdeenshire coastline

    Moira2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • The house is spotless! It’s so comfortable we wanted to move in! Buckie is just gorgeous the breathtaking views of the coast and watching seals on the beach was priceless. You can throughly explore the beautiful Moray coastline or go to Inverness, and there are loads of national trust properties nearby. We went to Culloden and Brodie Castle but there are loads more and you can use NationalTrust England cards here. Always check with Linda as she full of knowledge and tips- it’s like having your own personal trip advisor. We had a lovely warm welcome and Linda provides a lot of extra things in the kitchen , milk, bread butter as well as cereals and tinned food so you don’t feel like you have to rush to the shops as soon as you get in. When travelling with children that’s a huge help. The entire house is sparking clean and I would definitely go back soon!

The Moray coast is festooned with golf courses with Cullen Golf Club a mere 5 min drive away. Portknockie also has a small outdoor children's paddling pool in the harbour, children's playground, tennis courts and outdoor bowling.
  • Outstanding property with everything you need for a relaxing and very comfortable break. It’s such a beautiful cottage. L It’s immaculate, artistic and so well laid out. All the furniture, crockery, bedding and towels etc have been specifically bought and supplied with guests satisfaction in mind - all very plush, spotlessly clean and in tune with the decor throughout. We love eating good family meals at home - the kitchen cupboards are well stocked with herbs, olive oil, condiments, sugar, tea, coffee, rice, soup etc. Great appliances and cooking facilities and family space. Lovely cleaning products and hand washes too. Gull Cottage is in a super location for exploring the coastline. The walks and beaches along this coast are breathtaking - lots to see and do. We enjoyed long walks every day. We’ve booked again for August. Thanks Anne for all the lovely extras on arrival. All the little details and treats went down very well. Xx

    Laura2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful cottage. Comfy and immaculate with lots of wee extras. Very thoughtful owner. Would highly recommend. Great location for exploring the Moray coast.

  • Many thanks, Anne, for making such a welcoming place for travellers! We so enjoyed the cottage and village and couldn't have asked for more... Best fish and chips in ages a few metres away, super comfortable cottage with everything thought of and many extra touches that I haven't seen in any other Airbnbs... Can't recommend Gull Cottage enough!

    Scott & Julia2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Fisher-folk Cottage was by far the best rental we have ever had. Anne’s artistic touches really added to our enjoyment. On each of the six days we stayed, we found another little personal touch or whimsy. The area around Portknockie is very interesting to explore from the famous “Cullen Skink Soup” in nearby Cullen to Bow Fiddle Rock in Portknockie, there was always lots to do. There is a large supermarket just a few miles away in Buckie, “dairy-free” ice cream in Portsoy and antique shops to peruse in the region. The scenery is breathtaking and the cottage could not have been more comfortable. Anne leaves a few groceries to kickstart your holiday as well as some treats. Simply fabulous! We would go again in a heartbeat!

    Carie2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is a most charming cottage in the old fishing village of Portknockie, a most lovely part of the Moray Firth. It is very clean and comfortable and a delight to spend time in. Anne has catered for the needs of everyone and provided little extras that will surprise you. I would jump at the chance to return there some day. It is indeed a special place.

    Elisabeth2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • I could not recommend Gull Cottage more highly! Anne has created just a super bolt hole - immaculately clean, incredibly well kitted out with a myriad of thoughtful touches, we really didn’t want to leave. From provisions in both fridge & cupboards, to Netflix, to Alexa and amazon music, to washing and drying provisions, the list goes on. It really is a step above!Portknockie is also the perfect base for exploring the Moray coastline and really does have the best fish and chips two yards from home. A total tick and anyone would be lucky to holiday here!

  • This is the fourth time we've stayed in Gull Cottage, and it keeps getting better every time. I'm almost reluctant to write a review because I want to keep this place for myself. It's absolutely fantastic. Anne is a great host and the facilities are excellent (and spotless).

    Sean2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Gull cottage was perfect in every way. It was beautifully decorated in a nautical theme and everything was spotlessly clean. It was cosy and warm with comfortable beds and fluffy towels. The kitchen was fully equipped with quality utensils and everything you could possibly need. Anne was the perfect hostess and responded very promptly. If we are back in the area we will definitely be back.

  • This is a really unique experience and Michael's hospitality really was a step above most hosts we've stayed with on Airbnb. We slept well on good comfortable beds and the harbour area is quite peaceful. We loved the pastries and home made porridge - plenty of options for breakfast. We also loved Michael's dog when it came to visit! Sadly we didn't get the chance to go out on the boat when Michael offered, but we'd definitely recommend staying here.

  • A great place to stop over, Bill’s hospitality makes it a welcoming and comfortable stay with everything you need.

    Laura2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed three nights with Bill at 7 Malin Place and really enjoyed our stay. Bill is very friendly and quickly made us feel at home. We loved the house, it is really quirky and filled with some fantastic memorabilia and collections from Bill's travels. We had two bedrooms - a twin and a double. Both were imaculate and very comfortable. We loved the extra touches in the rooms, the extra power extensions and sockets made things so much easier. We had a bathroom to ourselves. There were numerous toiletries supplied and a great power shower and jacuzzi bath, We slept so well here and it was only the amazing full Scottish breakfasts that Bill made us each morning that got us out of bed in the morning. We loved the breakfasts and they were so big they kept us going all day. Loved the banter with Bill over breakfast, he really made us smile. What a funny guy and so knowledgeable about so many subjects including the area. Staying here would suit business or leisure travellers, we loved the house and host and will stay here again when next in the area. We would have not hestitation in recommending this airbnb to anyone.

  • The house is so nice and the location can t be more beautiful. We had a great time and everything feels like home. Fiona and Tim so nice welcome. If we come back to Scotland we certainly go back to the beach house.

  • Great location and a lovely place to stay and the hosts made us feel so welcome

    Andy2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Tim and Fiona’s house is simply amazing. There is everything you need there and the location is great, just next to the see. You can see the see and sunrise from the bedrooms upstairs. The house is brand new, the beds are really comfortable and everything is there for you to have a great stay. The welcome back is also much appreciated. There are a lot of tips for things to visit in the region and Tim and Fiona are really helpful. Will go back and recommend it to everyone.

  • The Beach House in Findochty is in a great location close to the Moray Coastal Trail. The house itself is very clean and has been beautifully refurbished throughout to a high standard. Tim and Fiona are brilliant hosts who communicate well. We can thoroughly recommend The Beach House.

    Grace2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Findochty is absolutely beautiful and so peaceful. Tim and Fiona's place has the advantage of being very close to a serene sandy beach. We could have easily just sat there for the duration of our stay. Additionally, it is a fantastic base to explore the northern parts of Scotland. The house is immaculately clean and very well equipped; you can tell immediately that a lot of thought has gone into making your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible. Tim and Fiona have thought of everything! From the initial booking to check-out, communication was excellent. During our stay, we didn't need to contact them, a testament to their skills as hosts. We would not hesitate in returning or recommending. Thank you so much.

    Joanne2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • The house is spacious and very well equipped (board games, Netflix, ...) close to the sea and beautiful walks. we recommend this rental

    Pascale2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • The location was even better than we had hoped - a lovely beach at either end of the street! The house is beautifully updated with excellent fittings and fixtures and the bath is delightfully deep :) The beds are really comfy and Fiona and Tim have added thoughtful touches throughout - including the loan of two body boards and a selection of info on local areas of interest. They even told us about a pop up cafe at the town hall where we got to meet more of the locals who were really kind and friendly. It's an absolutely idyllic place for a family holiday or couple's getaway. We would definitely hope to stay there again if we are ever back in the area!

    Rhona2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • The house is superbly kitted out with everything you can think of. If you get weather like us you won’t be in much (although the kids were even in the sea when it was raining) but there is a great selection of books and lots of games to play with.

I could of sat upstairs watching that view over the sea for hours! The enclosed back garden was a total bonus. Spotlessly clean. Fantastic walks around the area. The weather was atrocious but honestly once indoors we felt cosy and totally relaxed. Will definitely be a returning holidaymaker.

  • It was really lovely, a tiny bit adventurous in the most positive way, absolutely beautiful and Ellie and Harold were wonderful loveable hosts. We will come back here most definitely. If you as a guest are okay with some rural livestyle, stay here and listen to the sound of waves of wind in the trees

  • We had an extremely relaxing experience here. We were received very warmly even despite our late arrival, and the escort to the hut was great. Very exciting to walk through the dark woods! Had a great chat with the owner too. The hut was lovely, and there wasn't anyone else in sight, even though it took about a minute to walk back to the shared area where there was wifi and all kinds of amenities. Amazing stay for nature lovers! We had a great time sitting by the fire, enjoying the silence.

    Esther2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • These guys are genuinely the perfect hosts! Very lovely and approachable, they showed us around when we arrived and checked in on us whenever we ran into each other. The space was wonderful too, VERY comfy beds and more spacious than you expect! The hut is away from other tents/the main house and is very private. There is also an outside seating area which is covered from the rain, and a fire pit. Recycling and food waste bins were provided so it was easy to be eco friendly. Heaters are provided so the space was easy to heat up; we were very cosy. It was amazing to wake up in the forest with the birds singing and the light coming through the window! The shower is amazing, very easy to use and well built with plenty of hot water, and quality bio friendly toiletries are provided (which smelled amazing). There are a lot of leaflets and tips for things to do around the area in the kitchen/eating space (located at the main house close by), as well as walks we could do around the grounds. The directions are easy to follow and there is loads of free parking on the premises. Overall, we would wholeheartedly recommend this space to anyone!

    Rob2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place to stay, perfect if you are looking for a step up in comfort from camping without losing any of the rugged wilderness feel. The hut/tent is very easy to get to but feels wonderfully remote, we loved relaxing by the fire in a secluded clearing watching the sun set through the trees. Ellie and Howard are great hosts, helpful and welcoming. We will certainly be recommending the space to friends and returning soon.

Close to a long sandy beach and spectacular coastal walks, our family cottage has a wood burning stove, lots of books, board games, wifi internet and a well equipped kitchen. It's a place to relax and recharge your batteries. Bundle up and go for a walk along the beach, then have a delicious coffee at Coffee at the Kings. Light the fire and put your feet up with a good book or a game of Rummikub. If you feel adventurous try the local sea school for surfing and kayaking,
In this Seatown cottage, there are two bedrooms (one twin, one double), perfect for a family of four or a group of friends. We've set up a reading room with an easel which has beautiful light for those who like to paint and draw or for you to simply relax with a book or magazine. Along the hall, the bathroom is simple with an electric shower. The living room downstairs has a wood and coal burning stove for warming up in the evening after a day of wildlife watching on the Moray coast. Next door, the bright kitchen has been fitted with traditional wooden cupboards and has an electric cooker and washing machine.
Cullen is a beautiful, coastal town, with walks along the Moray county trail and provides opportunities for bird watching. The Moray Firth dolphins can often be seen. Cullen beach is regularly visited by surfers and kayaking clubs and the bustling, 18 hole Cullen golf course sits alongside the beach. Cullen Golf Club regularly hosts local opens and competitions and is equally good for a quick round on a sunny afternoon. The Rockpool bistro in the town centre is our favourite place to eat, using fresh, local produce. The food is contemporary and more importantly, tasty! It is open for breakfast and lunch, we would recommend booking ahead as it's always full.
  • A stay here is a treat! The location is perfect and the cottage exactly what you want on a seaside holiday.

    Linda2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is located in the 'Seatown' area of Cullen within yards of the promenade between Cullen harbour to the east and Cullen beach to the west. There are long coastal pathways leading to the neighbouring villages of Portsoy and Portknockie. After a long walk on these paths I recommend a bowl of "Cullen Skink" soup at the Seafield Arms hotel in Cullen town. The cottage is well appointed and has two bedrooms - fitted with a double bed in the ground floor bedroom and twin single beds in the first floor bedroom.

  • Pru was very responsive and helpful during our stay. The home was lovely and large enough for our family of 3 that we each had our own space. The kitchen is bright and has everything you will need to do some light meal preparation. The house-numbering scheme isn't straightfoward so you may need to look around a bit to find the house and where to park, which will be much easier in a smaller car that can squeeze between the close-positioned cottages. Park around the back of the house at the white fence, beside the church. All-around, the house was a great choice for exploring the Moray firth and Speyside region. We were able visit many castles, gardens and distilleries in the area during day trips: enough time to eat a quick breakast at the house, pack a lunch to go and then be back in time to cook supper. This was a big budget saver, although we highly recommend visiting the small, intimate restaurants in the area, especially Lily's Kitchen and the Rockpool (reservations needed). And Cullen is the home of Cullen Skink, a local variety of fish chowder. I have made this recipe in the past, never realizing where it came from! If you are visiting in the off-season (after Sept 30), be aware that many of the historic sites in Scotland have limited visiting hours, or are closed entirely. Admission for 2 adult and a child can easily cost 40+ pounds, so if you plan on visiting more than a few of these sites, look into getting a family Explorer pass: https://www.visitbritainshop.com/canada/historic-scotland-explorer-pass/.

  • Perfect! As it says on the tin. Perfect location- just few steps from promenade and beach. Very peaceful - everything you need. The Royal Oak is a great place to eat and some wonderful walks. The Pet Cemetery along past the harbour is a must to see if an animal lover. A must to stay at and we will be back.

  • What a great place for a relaxing few days. No problems what so ever. Will happily stay again in the future. Thank you again Pru.

  • As Pru says in her description, this is her home from home. Do not expect designer furnishings, do expect cosy homeliness. We loved it. As for location, if you don’t know Cullen and its environs it really is beautiful, quiet and pastoral rather than dramatic. Excellent for birds and other wildlife. Interesting geology and rock pools at the Portknockie end of the bay.

The view is outstanding. I would recommend it for longer stay to really enjoy the beauties of the nature around, and a quiet village.

Stay in a unique Steading (barn) conversion in beautiful rural Speyside. Guests have sole use of the upstairs space in our home comprising - Double bed. Single sofa bed for family use. Travel cot available on request. Private bathroom. Landing area with comfortable seating, mini fridge with milk, kettle with teas and coffee. Breakfast of cereal with Greek yoghurt and homemade ( homegrown) fruit compote will be upstairs for guests. AVAILABLE TO BOOK SEPARATELY DOWNSTAIRS ROOM WITH ENSuITE.
Until a few years ago this was a working farm building. Converted from concept to completion by ourselves, with the help of some very dear friends. Our home is run mainly on solar energy, providing electricity from PV panels with heating and hot water from solar thermal panels. Do enjoy a luxurious soak in the bath and use our free hot water! Upstairs is a fabulous light space with a double bedroom with comfortable chairs to relax whilst watching television (smart tv with Netflix) reading or feel free to have a game of chess. You may just want to sit looking out the upstairs windows at the incredible views. There is space on the landing to sit in the sun, have a coffee or chilled drink from your personal mini fridge (glasses, cutlery and crockery are all provided in the sideboard). There is a fabulous bathroom with Brazilian slate tiling, lovely big claw footed bath, unusual d shaped shower cubicle to let lots of natural light in.
Our Steading is rural but convenient for travel to both beaches along the Moray Firth and mountains for walking and climbing. Located between Inverness and Aberdeen just off the main A98. We are happy to help with directions to the many places of interest, the seal colony just down the road, the Land Girls memorial a little bit up the hill, Baxter’s, Distillery’s - where do we stop!! Most of our guests will already have lots of plans and ideas. Fochabers and Buckie both have unusual little shops and a variety of places to eat.
  • Nicky was a great host. We would book again.

  • We had an amazing stay at Nicky's place. Perfect place for those who wants to enjoy Scottish countryside with all the modern amenities. The view you get when waking up is mesmerising. I would recommend this place to all the nature lovers. Our host is an amazing person, helped us with last minute booking, coordinated throughout so that we can reach the correct location. Helped us with places to dine out, and places to visit in surrounding areas. She was interesting and fun person to talk to. One of the best hosts I have met. Cheers!

  • Fabulous space for a relaxing weekend away, yummy breakfast, lovely hosts. Thank you.

    Hazel2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had one wonderful night at Nickys and Tonys place. Much love for the details and the room is very cosy. Nicky and Tony are very friendly. We definitely would come back.

    Madeleine2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Nicky’s place is really lovely, located in beautiful open countryside yet near to the seaside town of Buckie. Nicky and Tony gave us a warm welcome, even though we had booked at very short notice, and Genghis, the curious ginger cat, immediately made our acquaintance. Everything we needed - and more - was provided, including compôte of home grown fruit for breakfast. We could have had fresh bread too if we’d wanted. A great find in every way.

    Isabelle2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful place to kick back and relax, or explore Speyside from. There are wonderful beach walks a short drive away, and Nicky and her husband are wonderful hosts. If you like cats, there is a very gorgeous ginger named Genghis who will supply all the cuddles you could desire.
