“Jim's place was a fun visit! We are from the city and enjoyed the quietness of the country. If you are expecting a hotel room stay this place may not be for you. But if you are wanting an experience that is unique go for it! The bed was comfortable for us. Jim met us when we got there and was very friendly! The space of the Caboose is very cute, comfotable, and has everything you need. I'd say if you are over 5'10-5'11 the bed may be tight in the loft area. The horses were fun to spend time with on the property. Apples were not in season while we visited but luckily had some of our own that we fed them. Recommend!”
For your safety and ours during the Covid 19 time we will maintain social distancing and deep clean. If you have been traveling or have been in a high risk area we respectfully ask you to look at a later date. The lower level/apt. of our home sits on the Red Rock cliffs of lowa's largest lake, with private deck. The lake house provides a secluded picturesque getaway surrounded by natural habitat, with amazing views of some of the 5,250 acre lake. The space is very private and has steps.l
“I found a quiet reprieve from my busy life. Len and Sharon were there to offer help with anything I needed, and were willing to chat too. But they also were quick to give me my space, and I was never "bothered" by having them upstairs. The wood fireplace added a nice touch and I kept it crackling most of the time. Len kept me supplied with wood. The house has a wonderful visual appeal. It is set on a cliff, and overlooks the lake, with a private deck walk-out of two, double, glass patio doors. This, and other windows too, made it seem so very open and cheery. There were birds at the feeder, and birds on the lake. It was very peaceful. The kitchen is well stocked with a microwave, dishwasher, fridge, stove, Keurig coffee pot, toaster, and plenty of utensils and dishes. There was some condiments in the fridge, as well as sugar, etc...in canisters. The Christian atmosphere was especially appreciated. Len and Sharon have done an excellent job creating a quiet haven of rest, and a place to connect with God. The Sanctuary room was a special treat. The bed is quite soft and very tastefully made up. The entire place is very tastefully decorated with simple wall art, live plants, candles, and a few other things. I loved the cozy, uncluttered feel! It is "Simple Elegance." 😊 The hot tub was a special treat, and I'm sure the pool would be in the summer months. Both are heated to the desired temps. I spent 3 nights, but hope to make it 4 nights next time. 😊 Thank-you Len and Sharon for a wonderful stay! Jean Z.”
We love our country retreat, and want to share it with you! Perfect for both small or large groups with plenty of space, indoors & out! Enjoy the beautiful countryside along with farm fresh eggs from our own hens. Local, fresh produce from Northern Ridge Farm & Market is just across the road. We are located on a prime bicycle route, and close to the historic Amana Colonies, historic Kalona Village, Coralvile/Iowa City. We're a 25 minute drive to Kinnick Stadium & the University of Iowa/UIHC.
“There can’t be a better AirBNB in the Iowa City area. Pool. Hot tub. Sauna. Large tub. Chickens to feed. Grill. Comfy sofa. A kitchen that will make you jealous of your own. I used this as a retreat from a chaotic work life, so being in the middle of the quiet country was perfect, but you only have to drive 5 minutes for gas, and 10 or so for shopping in Coralville. Highly recommended for families visiting of couples needing a very unique staycation idea.”
