If you're looking for that ideal escape to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the beautiful Lake District, then Blencathra Lodge is the perfect place to be. Only 10 minutes from the M6 Motorway, we are perfectly situated so that you can enjoy this wonderful part of the country. Set in the award winning gardens of Stafford House, itself an enchanting Grade 2 Listed "Folly" and nestling in the magnificent grounds of Greystoke Castle, your pets are more than welcome to stay with you too!
“Both Hazel and Ian make you feel very welcome when you arrive . The self contained cottage was great, very clean with great facilities and well equipped . Plus beautiful surroundings . I ate in a couple of nights but also used the local pub which was good.”
Bright and cheerful ensuite studio flat on the edge of the Lake District National Park. Great views of Helvellyn and High Street. Lake District hikes, cycling or sightseeing within a few minutes. There is a small well equipped kitchen with hob, fridge and microwave for preparing light meals. The local pub is a 10 minute walk and serves excellent food with 2 other good food pubs just down the road. Guests are welcome to share use of our BBQ corner with fabulous view of the mountains.
“Thanks for a lovely stay! The views were fantastic and we had everything we needed. The studio was a nice, warm base to come back to after a day out exploring. Thanks for helping us jump start our car too - it was very much appreciated :)”
We are now in our third year since renovating this 17th century cottage and I guarantee you will enjoy what we have created. We have tried to keep the character of the original building and yet be fresh and appealing for you to enjoy. The space is clean, contemporary yet cosy with all modern day comforts and king size bed to accommodate 2 guests. Skelton is a quiet village handy for M6 motorway and north lakes so is quick and easy to get to and has a pub "The Dog and Gun" serving great food.
“This was our second stay at Westoe Cottage; it was as pristine as when we first visited in 2018. The cottage is well equipped for all needs. The suggested walks from the house were really enjoyable and the location could not have been more perfect. The pub up the road is a gem; and close enough to be able to enjoy a few drinks without the worry of needing someone to drive. Would highly recommend!”
