If you're looking for that ideal escape to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the beautiful Lake District, then Blencathra Lodge is the perfect place to be. Only 10 minutes from the M6 Motorway, we are perfectly situated so that you can enjoy this wonderful part of the country. Set in the award winning gardens of Stafford House, itself an enchanting Grade 2 Listed "Folly" and nestling in the magnificent grounds of Greystoke Castle, your pets are more than welcome to stay with you too!
“Both Hazel and Ian make you feel very welcome when you arrive . The self contained cottage was great, very clean with great facilities and well equipped . Plus beautiful surroundings . I ate in a couple of nights but also used the local pub which was good.”
Bright and cheerful ensuite studio flat on the edge of the Lake District National Park. Great views of Helvellyn and High Street. Lake District hikes, cycling or sightseeing within a few minutes. There is a small well equipped kitchen with hob, fridge and microwave for preparing light meals. The local pub is a 10 minute walk and serves excellent food with 2 other good food pubs just down the road. Guests are welcome to share use of our BBQ corner with fabulous view of the mountains.
“Thanks for a lovely stay! The views were fantastic and we had everything we needed. The studio was a nice, warm base to come back to after a day out exploring. Thanks for helping us jump start our car too - it was very much appreciated :)”
A cosy, converted byre set in tranquil Cumbrian countryside, this is a perfect base for exploring the Lake District or a peaceful hideaway for two. We live in the adjoining farmhouse, but you have your own parking area and separate front door. Surrounded by wildlife, trees and traditional farmland, it offers perfect peace and relaxation. There is wifi, but it's not great. Dogs welcome! King size bed or two single beds.
“The Byre is a rare find. When the satnav tells you you've reached your destination, and you're halfway along a long, straight, narrow lane, and there are no houses in sight, you know it is going to be special - providing you can find it!! Don't worry. Emma will have already sent accurate directions. Once you arrive you quickly realise that first impression was right. It's a fabulous place in an equally fab location. Hetty will welcome you first - quite loudly, but if you give her a tickle she'll soon be your best friend (well, she is a golden labrador!) There are plenty of tips for places to visit and local walks, and you may even be treated to one of Emma's lovely cakes (thank you, it was well yummy!) The only negative thing is that for reasons that will become obvious, you would be well-advised to leave your Lamborghini behind..! Seriously though, it is a lovely place to stay - warm, clean, and comfortable, and with a very welcoming vibe.”
