  • We booked the shack for an overnight stay after visiting Dinosaur Kingdom at Landmark Park for our little boys 2nd Birthday. We were greeted by Louise on arrival who was lovely and helpful! The shack was cosy, clean and exactly what we needed to rest our heads. We were also blown away by how thoughtful the hosts were by leaving our little boy a dinosaur themed birthday card and toy! Over and above. Thank you! Siobhan xo

Louise went the extra mile and drove us into Aviemore and gave us a little tour, pointing out the best places to visit and tips on what to see. I will definitely try to stay here again!

We have a bright double room with private bathroom in a little cottage on the edge of Carrbridge. We have two lovely black Labradors called Kai n' Pepper who love to meet our guests. Your stay includes a traditional cooked Scottish breakfast or healthy option -granola, yoghurt, berries, toast and preserves. We are within walking distance of Carrbridge village centre where there is a shop, two cafes, an art gallery and a pub. Lots of woodland walks are on our doorstep.
Our home is peaceful, welcoming, relaxing and homely. Close to the village pub for very good evening meals (last orders 8-30 pm,) two cafes and a spar shop. There is a garden with table and chairs, you’re very welcome to use the space. Unfortunately, our home is not suitable for children under 12 years of age.
We live in a cluster of houses with friendly neighbours on the outskirts of a village. If you feel like a stroll, we have a village pub which serves evening meals until 8.30 pm. It takes 10-15 mins to walk. Aviemore has lots of eateries so you will never be stuck. Some Friday evenings we have a very good fish and chip van, serving from 4.30-8.00 pm. We also have lovely walks in the woods opposite our home where you may be lucky to spot, roe deer, red squirrels, crested tits, Scottish Crossbills or the elusive Capercaillie.
  • Pam and Tony were wonderful hosts, who were very accomodating with tonnes of local knowledge that really helped us plan the rest of our trip and avoid the tourist traps. Immaculately clean rooms and a super comfy bed. Perfect!

We appreciate the recommendations, great breakfasts, conversations, and the feeling of home that we received as soon as we arrived. Would definitely recommend!! And the pups were so cute and we loved meeting them!

  • Pam was an incredible host - the best either of us have had. She was so welcoming and friendly - check in was so smooth and easy and she immediately recommended a wonderful homely local pub for dinner. The house is so lovely and the bed was INCREDIBLY cosy and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning is 10/10! Already looking forward to coming back to stay again!

  • A perfect stay in a quaint little town; Pam (and Tony, Pepper, and Kai) welcomed us with open arms when we arrived. The space is immaculately clean, bright, comfortable, and easily accessible. I am still dreaming about how heavenly and cloud-like the bed was. Pam made us a delicious breakfast and we loved the company and chats with her and Tony over coffee. They also gave us some really great local tips, and tricks for our way drive back down to Edinburgh (even made a few phone calls for us). Thanks to them, I found the Scotch for me at Dalwhinnie. Highly recommend this b&b!

    Nancy2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect stay experience, pam's home is my ideal English courtyard feeling, warm, childlike, beautiful, just like the pam family, they welcome us very warmly, feel like home. The Scottish breakfast was great (the menu was exquisite and attentive, the pam family was a professional and serious b&b landlord). Finally, the gift shop and the museum were recommended to be perfect when we left. In short, we like it here and look forward to the next time we come to carrbridge!

I had my 10 month old little girl with me and she made the stay a breeze she went above and beyond to make sure she enjoyed her stay by giving her toys allowing her to play with an amazing dolls house , making sure she had something to play with in the bath and giving us a high chair and doing extra for her breakfast . Nothing was to much to ask. I would highly recommend Allyson to anyone.

Springfield House is a traditional granite house located in the quaint village of Carrbridge in the Cairngorms National Park, Scottish Highlands. The house is suitable for up to six guests so perfect for families and small groups of friends. It is well equipped for cosy nights in, as a base for Cairngorm adventures or for special celebrations. It is also ideally located for exploring Speyside's many distilleries, National Cycle Route 7, or a stop off before hitting the North Coast 500.
The house has recently been refurbished to create a luxury home from home; with lots of personal touches and bespoke elements. There are two double bedrooms upstairs (one with en-suite / walk-in shower) and one double/twin on the ground floor (and by double, we mean super-king). There is a toasty living room with wood-burning stove, large smart TV and lots of comfy seating for all. Additional lounging area in the 'snug', which is located just off the kitchen, where you'll find a piano and vintage amp. Why not fill the house with music as you cook? The kitchen is well equipped for cooking up a feast with a 5 burner gas range, fan-assisted double oven, dishwasher and microwave. The dining room looks onto the garden and decking area. The large and private back garden has a beautiful fire pit, made from salvaged sandstone and granite, undercover pagoda and plenty of outdoor seating. The entire house is heated by a wood-pellet boiler, making all your needs for warmth completely renewable.
Carrbridge is a beautiful historic village dating back to the early 1800s. Famous for its 18th century packhorse bridge (if you're lucky you might spot a piper playing there on a summer's evening!) and as Scotland's first ski village, it is perfect for those looking for an alternative to the bustle of Aviemore. For its size, there's a great range of things to see and do. There's a fantastic selection of walks and bike trails just minutes from the house. Landmark Adventure Park is a must for young families and, again, 5 minutes' walk away. The village hosts a couple of fantastic (and world renowned) annual competitions: the annual Golden Spurtle porridge competition and Carve Carrbridge where you can witness the spectacle of chainsaw woodcarving. Just a minute's walk from the house there is a fantastic traditional pub and 2 cafes; all serving great homemade food. There is also a gift shop and gallery showcasing a range of art and crafts from local artists. As well as a golf course there is a play park, football pitch, BMX park and pony trekking, all just moments from the house. Cairngorm Mountain and Funicular is a 30 minute drive away and the Lecht Ski Centre is 45 minutes. Carrbridge is also a short drive or cycle from Boat of Garten, Aviemore and Grantown-on-Spey; where there's a good range of eateries, pubs and shops and supermarkets.

Cosy self-catering accommodation sleeps two. Situated between Aviemore and Grantown on Spey in the Cairngorms National Park close to the River Spey and surrounded by woods and farmland. Boat of Garten village is within a mile. Refurbished in 2018 to a high standard, Sycamore Cottage provides cosy accommodation for single people or couples looking for a relaxed break in idyllic surroundings, or for those who want to take advantage of the many opportunities for outdoor recreation. The cottage is in a secluded location with wonderful views overlooking the River Spey and Strathspey Steam Railway track with the Cairngorm mountains in the background. Well behaved dogs are welcome by arrangement.
  • We spent a fantastic couple of days in Sycamore Cottage. Martin met us on arrival and gave us some pointers for the local area which was gratefully received. The cottage itself is perfectly orientated facing the river and countryside to create a private, fenced off area. The location is ideally placed for Aviemore and the Cairngorms and we thoroughly enjoyed our time here.

    Bailey2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • The cutest little cottage and perfect little getaway. Really nice to come back to a warm and cosy place after exploring the lochs and mountains in the snow. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting explore the Cairngorms.

  • We spent a great couple of nights with Briony. Immaculate place, and a very comfy bed!

    Tim2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Briony offers a brilliant location and excellent directions. Thank you again. :-)

    Stuart2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Home from home :) if you're a couple wanting to take in the sites of Aviemore whilst still keeping your home comforts then look no further! There was clear communication from Briony and Martin from the word go, even before we had booked the cottage. The cottage is down at the bottom of their garden, but don't let that put you off. They had fenced an area for our own private garden, bird feed and decking, plus the views overlook the river, not their house, so you feel like your in your own private location. Martin was there to greet us to ensure we were settled in and was to hand if we had any problems (which we didnt). The house was super clean and comfortable, but it was the small added extras that made it... - dog treats, bowls and towels (dog towels came in handy as we had so much rain ours were drenched!) - OS maps so we could plan our walks -fresh eggsfrom their chickens - wood for the fire (although the house was so warm we didnt need it) - a fully stock kitchen, we cooked ever night and wasn't short of any utensils. Was more than happy with the cottage and couldn't recommend enough. Thank you for a cosy cottage after our long days out.

    Kerry2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • We have had a perfect stay at Sycamore Cottage. Briony met us on arrival and welcomed us with freshly made bread and eggs from her chickens. Waking up the following morning to a dusting of snow and amazing views was just wonderful. There's a lovely spot for dogs just out the back of the garden and the cottage is super cosy and warm. Lovely touches like dressing gowns, dog blankets and lots of logs for the log burner. Great location for driving to local amenities and loads of amazing walks nearby. We hope to come back in the summer.

    Eleanor2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I stayed at the cottage as part of a weekend getaway in the Highlands. Briony's communication was great and the check in smooth despite us getting in a bit late. The cottage is cosy, modern and Briony has ensured that it is absolutely neat (even the cooking utensils are lined up neatly). We appreciated the eggs left for breakfast and the wood burning stove for cosy nights in front of the fire. I highly recommend Briony's place for a peaceful retreat near the Cairngorms.

  • The birds nest is absolutely stunning. The accommodation is beautiful and it is set in a beautiful location. A lot of love and care has gone into creating this space and it is situated perfectly to feel like you are “away from it all” whilst maintaining a good distance to local amenities and attractions. Cannot think of anything that could or world need to be different. Emily and Alex are lovey hosts.

    Lauren2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The birds nest was excellent, spotlessly clean, and the bed is huge! Perfect for a relaxing break in the countryside. Cosy downstairs area with kitchen, log fire, armchairs and microwave/oven too. Then upstairs space is large, with big sofa. We were so relaxed the whole holiday, with great walks directly from the cottage, round loch vaa is recommended. And only about 5 minute drive into aviemore, loads of activities to do nearby. So peaceful with views of the Cairngorms and the local cows too! The hosts are very friendly and were available if we needed anything. Amazing they constructed the cottage themselves too! Wouldn’t hesitate to return in the future.

    Lisa2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful hideaway in the heart of the Cairngorms - highly recommend. Both Emily and Alex were very friendly and helped us out with any questions we had. Great base for exploring even in rainy weather - in the evenings we much enjoyed just listening to the radio and reading by the fire which we don't get to do enough! Overall the birds nest was cosy, comfortable and all the added creative up-cycled details gave it a special touch. Thanks for having us!

    Jenny2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully converted shed in a lovely peaceful spot. Great place to relax and also well located for some activity. Nice to be a bit outside Aviemore.

  • Emily and her family have created a peaceful oasis. It's perfect if you want to explore the Cairngorms without the bustle of the towns. Our highlight was exploring Loch Vaa and being able to stargaze on a clear night - not to mention the glorious views the Bird's Nest has!

    Jess2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time at "The Bird's Nest" - Emily and Alex obviously put a lot of work & thought into this place. I can totally recommend staying here!

We stayed cosy and warm next to the log burner and luxuriated in the home comforts so thoughtfully provided. Our hosts were top notch - they personify what makes Airbnb such a cool and amazing venture. I would recommend The Bird’s Nest without hesitation.

  • Grace & Carla's place is beautiful and a lovely spot to stay. It's very comfortable and spacious and has a great location looking down on to the river. Though we unfortunately weren't able to meet her or Grace, Carla kept in touch perfectly and we felt welcome and able to make ourselves at home. Hopefully we'll have a chance to be back before too long. Thanks very much!

  • We have had a wonderful stay, and we're so happy to have stayed at Carla and Grace's place. Such a lovely & stylish home, so pleasant and pretty, and such wonderful hospitality. We felt welcomed and appreciated. This definitely was one of our loveliest stays during our trip.

  • Warm host, lovely house, great surroundings. We received a warm welcome from Grace and showed round the house. We were dropping off our luggage then heading into Aviemore. Taxis aren't readily available but the train station is a 15 minute walk away, and Aviemore is just one stop away. Carrbridge looked like a lovely peaceful place from what we saw. We would like to spend more time up there in future. Room was big enough for my partner and I, comfy bed and plenty of hanging, storage space. Selection of fruits, cereals, drinks for breakfast. We had breakfast with the host which was great. Our first AirBnB experience and it was great. Would definitely stay here again.

    Thomas2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Grace place was awesome! The room was large and clean and very cozy. Grace is an amazing host. We had nice chats with her and got many local tips. Thanks for the great time!

  • Carla has been a fantastic host - friendly and communicative. Her house is lovely and very central in Carrbridge, within easy access to walking trails and places to eat and drink. The house is clean and quiet, and was the perfect place to stay for the weekend.

    Tim2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • A home from home for us & our dogs. Warm, underfloor heating, airy&bright beautifully refurbished. It's in a great location, we could walk to boat of garten in 15 minutes. Easy to find communication great with host and simple check in/checkout experience.

  • Lovely property in a great location; highly recommend!

    Barney2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • The place was perfect. So stylish, beautiful small touches that make it the cosiest Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in. The sauna was amazing, the bed incredibly comfortable and had everything you could possibly want. I can’t wait to return

    Anna2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The bothy conversion is amazing. Such a great place to unwind and you can’t beat the sauna after a day on the slopes!

    Emma2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Broomfield Bothy. It’s a lovely cosy property with stylish decor and a great feel. The Sauna just tops it, off especially if you get very Scottish weather. Communication and check-in was flawless. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay again, highly recommended.

    Daniel2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Recently updated, everything nice and cozy and clean. Good backyard for dogs (although beware the busy road that the house sits on). Very friendly hosts. Good kitchen, with whiskey and tea available for guests. Very comfortable beds and great shower. The sauna was really nice in the winter after a long hike. I brought my own towels for my dogs so as to not use their nice, white towels. Netflix/Prime/iPlayer available on TV, which was really nice. Wi-fi spotty but works - don’t expect to work from home here, but you can get by for basic needs. I didn’t have mobile service in the home, but my friend did.

    Emiliana2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time at Helen and Ben's, it is only a stone's throw from Aviemore and there are lots to do around. Everything in the bothy is as described and are very clean. It is very tastefully furnished, the bedding and linen is one of the best we have come across! The kitchen is well equipped for us to make all our meals and the sauna is amazing, especially after a day out and about. We enjoyed watching the birds just outside the bedroom in the mornings and we were lucky to be able to see the sunrise from the bay windows. Don't forget to head out to see the stars at night, it was absolutely spectacular. As mentioned in the description, it is next to the A95, light sleepers may want to bring earplugs, but that did not affect our stay at the Bothy. I would definitely recommend Broomfield Bothy.

  • What a place!!! The site is so clean, close to amenities yet so peaceful and has the countryside feel. There are really good walks on the door step through the forests and places to eat out within a strolls distance. The photos really dont do it as much justice as it deserves, it is warm, spacious and airy. We didnt need anything that wasnt already provided. We look forward to staying again.

  • The accommodation was lovely. Great location in boat of garten. Very close to the village shop, railways and many great walks and cycle routes. There Airbnb was a cosy homey space, super clean and great facilities.

  • Easy to see why there are so many positive reviews - we expected the chalet to be a good choice, but on arrival we were simply delighted. The owner clearly takes great pride in the maintenance and preparation of the chalet. Beautiful interior, spotlessly clean, everything you could possibly need for your stay there was provided. Boat of Garten turned out to be the perfect base to explore the area, lovely walks on the doorstep, good local amenities and everything else just a short drive away. Highly recommended.

Perfect for active families and adventure lovers! Carrbridge and the surrounding area are known as the playground of the Highlands, there is so much to do for all ages… and abilities. You'll find plenty of things to do on our blog at Caledonian Escapes, however here are some of the highlights …. zip lining, mountain biking, skiing, climbing, go karting and quad biking, fishing, clay pigeon shooting, hill walking, sailing, gorge walking, lying on the beach… ! We're sure there will be something for you. Equally, Carrbridge itself is lovely quiet village so you can really get away from the hustle and bustle here and enjoy a slower pace of life. The Old Packhorse Bridge is just a short walk from the lodge and it’s worth a photo at this iconic landmark. The village itself has a shop, a petrol station and a couple of cafes, restaurants and pubs so you can enjoy some local cuisine a short walk from the lodge. The famous Landmark Adventure Park is about 10 minutes walk from the lodge and well worth a visit with the whole family, and some of it is open all year round. Another family favourite is visiting the Polar Bears and the other beautiful animals at the Wildlife Park near Aviemore. Even just taking the dog for a walk can be a discovery. There are plenty of woodland and river walks near the lodge which can be added together to make longer walks. You can also explore the trails through the ancient Rothiemurchus forest, around the wonderful lochs and lochans, or into the foothills to discover a bothy or a breathtaking viewpoint. There are walks for all levels, so you can go high and long, or gentle, low and easy… but you will not be disappointed. And of course, after a day exploring, you will discover all the wonderful places to stop for coffee and cake, a pub lunch, or a long dinner over wine. The surrounding towns and villages around Carrbridge also have a wide variety of things to do and places to refuel. Of course, you can pop into Aviemore which is only about 10 minutes drive away which has a wonderful buzz and energy, and plenty of shops if you need supplies. We are more than happy to pass on all the information you need to make sure you get the best from your holiday in the highlands. You'll find lots more ideas of what to explore on our Caledonian Escapes social media feeds and website :) Kids We know that often the first things kids ask is “What’s the wifi code?” But there is so much on offer for kids that hopefully you’ll won’t need the code! There are plenty of trails around for easy low level walking and mountain biking. One right from the front door follows cycle route NCN7 to Sluggan Bridge, where you can let you mind go back in time and imagine General Wade’s redcoats using the bridge to ford the river. Recently built in Carrbridge is a bike park, just near the school, so great kids (young and old) to brush up on their bike skills. If the kids are a bit more adventurous on the bikes, then Laggan Wolftrax is just south of Aviemore and offers some get downhill trails and a cute cafe in the carpark for a well earned cuppa and cake. Other brilliant activities for kids include the zip line park just south of Aviemore, and Treezone at Rothiemurchus. There is also tennis, horse riding, segways, go-karting, indoor soft play and a whole bunch of activities to enjoy on the water at Loch Insh and Loch Morlich. After all this, you’ll be ready to head back to the lodge to relax in the hot tub, get the BBQ on and start planning the next day’s adventures.

  • We had a fabulous stay at The Smithy and it’s even better than it looks in the pictures. It is beautiful decorated, fully equipped and plenty of space for a larger group or family. Lots of lovely touches including dressing gowns and a bottle of fizz and the beds were clean and comfortable with fresh white linen. The outside space is equally amazing so we would love to return in the warmer months to make use of the space as it was snowing during our stay. Lots of walks in the local area but only a ten minute drive to Aviemore so great location too.

    Charlotte2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place well suited to families in great location. Had planned to ski however weather was not kind. Found lots of other things to do and enjoyed forest walks literally across road.

  • Wow, what fantastic Christmas stay we had at Smithy Croft. The attention to detail of the decorations and tree, made it very special. A lovely place to spend family time together. Local area is very interesting, lots of great dog walks on the door step and fab to get some snow up on at ski centre. Carrbridge is a friendly little village. We made good use of the hot tub and would love to come back and get full use of the amazing our door facilities in the warmer months.

Myself and my mum stayed, to get out in the country and spend some time walking and the surrounding area is absolutely beautiful! So many amazing walks on offer! Marion gave us some great local tips and was always available if we needed anything at all. All in all a lovely few days away, thank you!

  • Stylish and cosy this wee gem of a place is an ideal highland retreat! Marion has great taste and the comfortable living room/bedroom was a perfect place to relax. Even has a selection of films to enjoy! There is a great wee kitchen set up and nice bathroom with big walk in shower. The garden with seating was enjoyed even at this time of year!

  • Marion’s cottage is roomy, clean, comfortable and convenient to local facilities. It’s quiet and peaceful with beautiful views out both the bedroom and kitchen windows. Highly recommend. Check out Drumin Castle and the separate loop trail by the stream on the Glenlivet Estate. It’s about a half hour drive from the cottage and is a beautiful, peaceful, easy walk for anyone, including children.

  • Marion’s place is warm and welcoming - everything you need and just as described. The surrounding area is amazing - beautiful paths for runs/walks behind the house and of course further afield. Marion is a lovely host she made us feel right at home. We’d definitely recommend the neuk for a stay. Thank you Marion!

  • For those Loch Ness Monster hunters out there, this is a great place to stay if going out to the Highlands or our to Loch Ness for the day. Close to the highway and relatively close to food, Marion’s place is amazing and charming!

    Michael2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 3 nights at Marion's place. Marion is a brilliant host, meeting us on arrival and explaining how everything works, plus giving us lots of local information. Marion's place is warm, comfortable, with everything you need for a break away.

Nice places to eat just a 5 minute walk away, although not needed as Bruce and Mairi have supplied everything you would need to cook at the cottage. Also wash/dry clothes if you're there for a long stay! Loved it, and would go back :-)

  • Great little cottage. We have just come back from a 3 night stay. Our party was 2 adults and 1 child (7). This location was great for what we needed, the driveway entrance to the cottage is directly opposite landmark adventure playground which is great for kids! The cottage itself is extremely warm!! Which was great after a day out in the rain to warm up. Everything was very clean and welcoming with a pint of milk in the fridge was a lovely touch. There is plenty of outside space to be had unfortunately we had terrible weather so couldn't take advantage of this. Thank you Bruce and Mairi

We arrived to fresh bread, jams, coffee and Tunnocks teacakes, which were so greatly appreciated. The apartment is so quiet and cozy. It was very snowy and cold during our time there, so there was nothing better than staying in the apartment with the log fire on! We cannot wait to return again in the future.

  • This flat was beautifully furnished with some lovely extra touches and a very comfy bed! Good facilities for cooking and 2 mins walk from the pub with great grub and drinks choices. Nice walk into Aviemore with easy local bus return. My friend enjoyed sampling a couple of the whiskies in the flat which is a great idea. It’s definitely a family space, there is so much things for the children to keep them occupied, from books to games to DVD’s. The location was great too. We arrived quite late and it was the little things like some milk in the fridge that made it even better. Ron and Helen really are fab hosts!

  • We spent 5 days here with two kids under three and it was great. Very clean, very comfortable and in a great location to enjoy the Cairngorms and all they have to offer. Ron and Helen were great hosts and provided us with all the stuff needed for two young kids (baby bath, cot, change mat etc). Strongly recommend for a comfortable and affordable getaway in the highlands.

  • The Boat House is a professional B&B guest house and is the most casual and homely professional place I have ever stayed in. Harry gives freely from his mine of information about his beloved Scotland. Nothing was too much trouble, the welcome was warm, (even though we did arrive quite late) the facilities are good and Poppy, their dog, was as friendly as the people. There are many things to see within striking distance of the house, there is a pub, restaurant and cafe just along the road, within easy walking distance, and Aviemore, a bigger centre with supermarket, shops etcetera is a long walk or short drive away. All in all the stay was pleasant and informative. Definitely recommended.

The whole chalet space has been decorated and designed with a great thought. We felt like staying whole day at our chalet only. Special thanks to the host for arranging all the extra bits that we asked for. The whole communication process was flawless and prompt. Host provided us with many complimentary stuffs that added to our happiness. Just awesome hosting. I would definitely want to come back soon.
