This house was built for a local iron ore mine in the 1890s. It looks out towards Ennerdale valley, in the Lake District Park, and a short path to the C2C cycleway. The location is quiet, with passing traffic for the farm only. Two double rooms, one with twin beds, are available, with a separate sitting room, with TV, for guests. It is a 10 minute walk to the centre of the village and frequent buses to Whitehaven, on the coast. Well situated for walking, cycling or business in West Cumbria.
“Diana is an excellent host. Everything spotlessly clean and communication was excellent. The house is in a great location for access to the western lakes. The coast coast cycle path goes right past. Would highly recommend a stay here.”
I offer simple accommodation (incl.breakfast) in my own house, which I share with my friendly border collie dog and 1-2 lodgers! A cheap base from which to explore Whitehaven, 1 & 3/4 miles away, the Cumbrian coast, 1.5 miles away, or the Lake District, 5 miles away. Ennerdale Water is 9 miles, Loweswater lake is 10 miles, Buttermere is 20 miles. The start of the C2C cycle way in Whitehaven is 2 miles away. The start of the Coast to Coast walk on St. Bees beach is 6 miles away, - lifts offered!
“- Highly recommend, very good value for money - The stay was lovely. - Easy to find the house and not too far from Whitehaven just a hill to climb for 30 minutes - Helen is a very nice host, easy to speak with, and if you don't know where to go she knows lots of locations - Due to getting trains she offered lifts to beautiful areas we couldn't have got to - The room was comfortable, warm and spacious. - The kitchen is a good place to cook - We enjoyed doggy company ”
High Standard , newly renovated studio situated within the finest walking area in the Lake District. The Stable and Undercroft each have a private front door, and internal locking doors through to the shared laundry area and information section off the linking corridor.
“Maria is a welcoming, friendly host who looked after us really well and The Stable is a lovely place to stay. Even though it's a studio it feels spacious enough and it was spotlessly clean, well-appointed and very comfortable for the two of us. The shower is amazing! The location is great for the pub down the road (Jennings Cumberland Ale and good food) and for numerous high and low level walks. Be aware that there is another apartment just next door (as mentioned in listing) and the family home overhead so there can be other people around. We had a great short stay and look forward to returning - there are plenty of hills in Wasdale left for us to climb!”
