We are dog friendly! Ghyllie Cottage is a two bedroom, two bathroom cottage that is over 200 years old! Wetheral is just 3 miles from junction 42 on the M6 and the village has great amenities including a Village Shop and post office, Cafe, and a great pub just across the road! Wetheral Railway Station is a short walk from the cottage with regular trains to Carlisle and Newcastle. Easy access to Gretna Green, the Lake District, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
“We really enjoyed our visit to Ghyllie cottage. The cottage is so cute on the outside & super stylish on the inside! Clean, stylish & trendy but still really cosy! My 10 year old was ecstatic about having a queen size bed! The Wheatsheaf pub across the road is such an ideal village pub & great for an evening meal! We used the pass for the local pool & it was really enjoyable! We did a walk called Monks & Mysteries from Go Lakes.co.uk which was fab & took in the local St.Constantines cells & the priory with a delicious lunch at the super friendly Queens Inn! Highly recommend!”
This is a clean town house right in the centre of Carlisle. You have your own tea and coffee making facilities and your own cutlery and crockery should you wish to cook. There is free super fast fibre internet. The high street is a minutes walk away. The train station is about 10 minutes walk away. There is free parking in the evenings in the disk zone area. Or a pay and display car park is right behind the house. I do not live on the property but I'm local should you need anything.
“Marvelous location, not far from the train station! There's several excellent restaurants nearby as well as a large indoor/outdoor pedestrian mall and many locations of historical interest. The kitchen is well-stocked, and it was great to have access to both a washer and drier.”
Recently renovated cottage on a working livestock farm, this riverside abode offers the perfect place to peacefully unwind. The Lake District, Solway Coast, Hadrians Wall and the Scottish Borders are within easy reach, with Junction 44 of the M6 being only 5 minutes drive east. Local fishing and shooting can be organised (I have fishing rights to the River Lyne running through my farm also and a outdoor country pursuits store is located it at the very end of my drive!). “I can not recommend this place enough. The location is beautiful - looking out on to open farm land. Yet you are around 7 minutes from the m6 and the retail parks to the south, and Gretna Outlet Village around fifteen minutes to the north. We also go to Pooley Bridge in under 30 minutes (which is always our breakfast Lake District stop), and then later, back from Whinlatter and Keswick in under 50 minutes. David is the loveliest person and always answers quickly and was happy to answer my questions and tell us about the farm. It’s not often that you get to an AirBnB place and find it perfect and way better than you thought it might be, but this was it. By the time we left my son was adamant we were going to ask David to buy it and he was going to build a tree house in the garden..! There’s no better review than that..”
