COVID UPDATE. The Housie will be unoccupied a day before and a day after each booking to allow for adequate cleaning to ensure The Safety of its Residents. I would also ask that if people are in doubt about their health, they adhere to Scottish Government Guide lines and do not travel. Cancellations will be accepted for this. Everyones Health and wellbeing is paramount.
“What a cosy and quiet house to call home for a few days ! Both Laura and Charlie are very welcoming hosts. The housie was very clean, well equipped and heating was able to come on at a touch of a button ! Very impressed with all aspects of the housie, including the well stocked kitchen and bathroom. Excellent location within the Cairngorms, only a hour to Aberdeen and an hour north to the coast. There is no TV, only radio - so definitely a great place to get away from it all. Would definitely recommend !”
Live like a local! A wonderful old family home within the Cairngorm National Park this is the perfect spot for peace in nature, fishing, Castles & Whisky, hill-walking, local festivities/history (Forbes in particular) and a really good night's sleep. Enjoy the house itself or the 12 acres of mostly woodlands at our doorstep. Climb to the top of Ben Newe (right out the back door!) Within half an hour of several golf courses and 20 minutes from the Lecht Ski Centre. Enjoy a Newe Experience!
“Kym is a wonderful hostess and we loved meeting her and Jonny, we were late on arriving the first night and were immediately and generously offered a home cooked meal after a very long journey! This is a historical house which sits within lush grounds and dates from 1604, it belonged to Jonny's ancestors and they both take a great delight in sharing its rich and interesting history if you are curious. Our room was cosy and comfortable with lovely fabrics and textiles and we have no hesitation in recommending this place. Great location for hiking too...”
West Woodside is a detached cottage set in a woodland meadow. It is a great place to relax and enjoy walks in the woods and the perfect base to explore everything Royal Deeside and the Cairngorm National Park has to offer. The cottage is also the perfect location for wildlife spotting so expect sightings of red squirrels on the feeders in front of the cottage and deer and rabbits in the meadow.
“Wow, what a fantastic place to escape to, 2 nights simply wasn't enough to enjoy this wonderful cottage and the peaceful surroundings. We loved spending time by the stove in the evenings and waking up with each day to see all the birds and animals in the garden. We were especially lucky to have clear night's under a blanket of stars and caught some amazing shooting stars. The directions were perfect and Holly left us some fresh eggs which was a great touch! Wonderful host and can't wait to have the chance to stay again in the future!”
