Braeburn Bothy is a charming, well-appointed, yet traditional Highland cottage accommodating up to 4 people and set in the heart of Royal Deeside. Just above the small village of Finzean, Braeburn Bothy is situated in one of Aberdeenshire's most picturesque and tranquil locations.
“Braeburn Bothy was a wonderful find for us during the difficult time of the Pandemic. Eoghan was a great host, providing eggs, butter and bread on arrival and great communication throughout, even when we needed to adjust our booking to family health needs. The Bothy itself is a wonderful building and deceptively large. Full of character, charm and perfect for memory making! One wee note - the spiral staircase is impressive and makes the bedroom feel very special, but for smaller children or those with balance/mobility issues - it is something to consider. Also, the oven is a small microwave- size one on top of work surface (plus there is a normal microwave) - but not a built in oven. It was fine for us, but something to bear in mind. We had a brilliant and memorable stay and would thoroughly recommend Eoghan's place to everyone!”
Brideswell Bothy is a traditional granite cottage on a working sheep farm. Recently upgraded and refurbished leaving original pine linings and features. Wonderful scenic area for walking and wildlife.
“I’d highly recommend staying at the bothy. It was a perfect quiet retreat for the two of us after being cooped up in lockdown for months. The bothy itself was clean, cosy and, although quite basic, had everything we needed. The shower was great, and we loved lighting the wood burning stove on chilly evenings. The area around the bothy is great for exploring, with loads of walks nearby and a short drive of loads of interesting places such as castles, standing stones, gardens etc. We found it to be well situated for exploring the east coast as well as being only a short drive from the Cairngorms. Communications from Lucy were always really quick and easy. I wouldn’t hesitate to book again if I were staying in the area.”
Self check-in is available if required. Self contained annex with spacious, south facing bedroom with access out to the garden which guests can use. We are 2 minutes walk from the river and can direct you to nearby hills and lochs where scenic walks can be enjoyed. There is a cosy, friendly pub just round the corner which serves lovely home cooked meals all day. They welcome "muddy boots, kids and dogs". We are dog friendly too so please feel free to bring your well behaved dog along.
“Had a brilliant stay at Gails place! We were in desperate need of some down time and the annexe was perfect! Really spacious accommodation, plenty of room for 2 and a dog. The garden was stunning and all enclosed which was perfect for the dog. Lovely touches with the breakfast pack and toiletries provided. We didn’t use the sauna as it was so hot when we stayed but it looked fab! Big comfy bed perfect for a fab nights sleep. Definitely recommend the Boat Inn for dinner but you should absolutely book in advance as it seemed really popular! Super handy 2 mins walk away. Aboyne has everything you need- a big co-op, chippy and an Indian takeaway. The walk along the river in Aboyne was stunning and would definitely recommend a visit to the Muir of Dinnet Nature reserve. Lots of different lengths of walks to suit everyone and the most beautiful scenery! It was only 15mins drive away. All in all a fab few days away, would 100% recommend!”
